Reviews of Posada Real Ixtapa
Nice hotel great location. Ocean view with balcony. Limited menu for non all inclusive. Rooms very clean with good amenities. Hot water plentiful, wifi worked well in room.
Hotel needs to enforce no smoking policy! Numerous smokers under the palapas!
We booked the Hotel by looking at a Picture. It was ocean front, we were not sorry. It`s not a Resort, it is a Hotel, the Staff was Fantastic, From the G Manager to the Maid service. Very , Very Helpful

The property is probably the closest to the waters edge with an awesome infinity pool between the rooms and the beach. The staff will treat you like family. We have stayed here before and it’s nice to see they are investing in modernizing the rooms. This is not a 5 star property but the value on the rate and location exceeds our expectations. I believe they are working on the remodel in summer months to not distract from tourist travel. We will be back next year

I keep coming back year after year!

I have been visiting and staying in Zihuatanejo for over 20 years but my favorite hotel is now in Ixtapa. Don't get me wrong Zihuatanejo has a great feel and I love walking the streets & malecon and eating at my favorite little restaurants (it's only a short cab ride from Ixtapa) but as I get older it has gotten harder to stay on the top floor in Z with no elevator. The Posada Real meets this need but what I really love about this hotel is the friendly staff, from the front desk, housekeeping, waiters & bartenders to the groundskeepers and security guards it's small enough where they remember me year after year and I love returning to see all my friends. I do miss having a balcony with a ocean view but I have no problem getting a seat under a palapa to enjoy the sun, sea and a good book. This year I'm staying two weeks, one with my wife (who has to get back to work) and second to fish with my friends at Gitana Sport fishing, it just doesn't get any better that this!

we had a nice room with an upgraded Bath, walk in shower, the beds are still fairly hard but better now with a pillow top mattress. loved the Mexican resort with Canadians, Americans and Mexicans vacationing and mixing in well. we did the breakfast plan and purchased food if we didn't feel like going out, very reasonable and very good. we haven't even left yet and are planning next years vacation here

My husband and I took advantage of a great Sun Wing "final fling" over the Easter break this year. The resort is small by comparison to many of the other hotels on the beach and the staff are excellent as they get to actually "know" you during your stay. They are extremely helpful at the front desk and several speak excellent English, (which was invaluable in solving a sunset cruise pick-up debacle). The room we had on the third floor had a massive over king sized bed and was kept clean throughout our stay with the added touch of towels made into lovely shapes and adorned with flowers. The food was typically Mexican and we loved it! There is also an "a la carte" menu and we had amazing shrimp and steak for about nine american dollars! The drink menu is extensive and the service was usually very good. The swim up bar staff were not quite as quick as the restaurant bar, but the wait was never very long. The only downside to this lovely resort was the fact that we forgot what a huge holiday Easter is in Mexico and about 4 days into the trip we were suddenly inundated with kids in the infinity pool with inflatables and assorted toys to maneuver through on the way to the swim up bar. There is a separate pool and playground area but unfortunately, many families did not spend their family time there. The noise level in the hallways in the mornings became a bit ridiculous as well as children were left to race around unattended shrieking at the top of their lungs. A quick and loud "silence" seemed do the trick and I did this several times to catch a few more hours rest. None of this is the fault of the resort, the employees we spoke were no more impressed with the lack of parental supervision than we were. We will return here for sure, just not during a major local holiday!

My husband and I vacationed from Apr 5-12, 2025. We travel alot and usually stay at a 4.5 -5 star but we thought we'd give this place a try as the reviews were decent and pics looked great. Unfortunately we made a big mistake on this place, this is the first time I've ever gave a bad review for a resort...which is not a "resort", is an all inclusive "hotel". We have rated this as a 3 star because there were a few good things. The staff were great although there was a major language barrier which is expected as we did go to Mexico and don't speak spanish, thanks to George for teaching us some. The view from the room was great as it was an ocean view, but unfortunately we were placed in a room with 2 beds instead of the king we requested, which ended up being a good thing as the food made me so sick I ended up in bed with travellers illness which I have never experienced before at this level, literally never left the room for 2.5 days but sick for 5 days. 6 day treatment of antibiotics required when I arrived back in Canada. What "resort" doesn't have a mini bar fridge in room!! No cold drinks for you lol. But the room was very clean, thanks to the wonderful cleaning staff. The buffet was less than mediocre, did not consist of breakfast meats at all, wieners and only breakfast safe items were omelets and fruit. Cereal was left out in containers from one day to the next. Everything else was pretty much the same everyday, very small assortment The only restaurant opened at 7:30 - 11:00 pm, 2:00 -5:00 pm and 7:30-10:00 pm. There was a snack bar from 1:00-6:00 posted but closed at 5:00 pm. So basically no food at lunchtime 12:00 or supper 5:00, this was definitely what we are used to at a "resort". Beautiful beach, well maintained. Too bad it's black flagged and no swimming in the ocean, would have been nice to know that in the resort description. There was an infinity pool, swim up bar, that was lovely. We enjoyed this for a couple of days as it wasn't too busy from Sunday - Wednesday. There was a bartender issue, he started at 11:00ish but disappeared at 11:30 - 12:30 ish for lunch...no coverage.
There are rules posted but not followed unfortunately. There are alot of children at the swim up bar splashing water in your drinks, diving off the side of the pool, free kicks in the back of the head as they jump over you. I get this is a family place but there are two pool's allocated for families and the swim up bar shouldn't have kids or rules should be enforced so all vacationers can enjoy the vacation they paid for. Will never suggest this place to anyone unfortunately as it is one of the only small resorts in this area.
