So I will start by saying overall we had a good stay at this hotel. We had booked on the all inclusive package and had booked this hotel as the last part of trip through different parts of southern Thailand as a place to relax and chill out before the journey home . The good parts The room was really nice with a large bed and private patio area. The room had a separate seating area and a large screen tv with several English channels The bathroom had a large bath and separate shower Overall the room was excellent 5* The resort itself was very nice it had three good pool areas and sat on a nice secluded beach. The gym was good and the overall facilities were excellent. Some areas the sunbeds had comfortable toppers and other areas they didn't for me this is something that could be improved upon and have the toppers for all the sun beds. The hotel also provides a partially complimentary bus service into Patong it would be nice to see this as fully complimentary. For me the Location, the room and the general facilities were excellent So for us the resort itself 5* I must also mention the staff. 99% of them were friendly and were extremely pleasant and helpful. Some of the staff were especially 5* for us. Now for what I didn't like We had more than one meal where the food was not upto a 5* standard ( an example of this was a chicken meal where the chicken was so overcooked and dry that it was hard to eat ) not really 5* for me. I wouldn't have minded so much if it was a one off experience but in a 7 day stay we had at least three meals we thought were not what we would have expected from a 5* hotel. We also had an experience where we had some rain and we decided to book a table for after the busier dinner period but when we went back at our reservation time we informed them we had booked and we could see tables had been reserved in the covered section of the restaurant but instead we were taken to the uncovered tables where the chairs were still wet but after we complained they did move us but we have no idea why they would look to seat guests on wet chairs for dinner. The drinks were again not what I would have expected from a 5* resort especially after reading previous reviews. For us you could get a really nice cocktail and then when you order the same cocktail again it would taste very poor the drinks for us were very inconsistent in quality and never came in the same type glass the same cocktail would be served in a short glass or long glass and sometimes a hurricane glass there seemed to be no consistency also for the amount of ice used. The second issue we had with the drinks was the wait time in receiving the drinks from time of ordering this could range from 5 mins to 45 mins particularly long in the evening. Now don't get me wrong the staff at the bar were just run of there feet the waiters probably did a marathon some nights with the amount of going back and forth they did and there was often only 1 or 2 barman making drinks but when you put this against the amount of people that were there you would have expected a minimum 3 waiters and 3 barman ( well this has been our experience at other 5* resorts where we have stayed) . For us the service was not always what we would have expected and not always 5* Would we stay here again. We're really split on this as for all the many good points this hotel has to offer some of the not so good points leave us in doubt.

The Marriott is a beautiful resort. All the staff are awesome and very friendly. Mook and all the team at the Beach Grill were amazing. The quiet beach is beauriful. Shuttle service to Patong made getting around easy. We had a wonderful holiday.

Hotel has spacious rooms and nice facilities with many restaurants and 3 pools. Location includes a beach that shows big difference between high tide and low tide. Low tide in late afternoon reveals coral reefs and you can walk among them. Every staff is friendly and helpful. Nene (Nina). Offered us mango sticky rice which is not at the buffet but is a popular dessert in Thailand. She was very friendly and chatted with us, made our dining experience extra special. Concierge was helpful getting us the tour on the date we wanted but was originally fully booked. The only improvement I would suggest is to build more elevators at different ends of the buildings to make it more convenient.

We were glad that we chose this hotel for a week long, all inclusive stay. There were many positives about this place as listed below. However, there were still some issues that didn't need to be there. It seems that the majority of the rooms face inwards onto one of the large pools. There are a few sea facing rooms at the front of the hotel, however we thought these wouldn't be worth the extra money just for the view. And after staying at the hotel, it seems each room possibly has an obstruction in the form of multiple trees in the way. We were happy with our pool view room. The hotel appears to be large, but never felt crowded. We always managed to get loungers by the pool or a table at a restaurant. There are peak times for the breakfast buffet when you might have to wait a few minutes but that was all. No problem with that. It seems a lot of people go out for the day / evening to the nearby tourist areas so if you stay behind, you can be well looked after. The hotel is close to Patong and there are various methods of getting to the town if that is your thing. There is effectively a private beach for the guests of this hotel only (albeit others can access it but don't seem to). However, only a short distance into the water is a lot of coral and it did not appear to be safe in the sea for swimming due to the presence of rocks and coral. There are two flags to be displayed regarding the water conditions of the sea regarding swimming and they are RED - No Swimming and YELLOW - Swimming not recommended. During our stay, only the Red flag was displayed. The beach is cleaned often though and people still enjoyed splashing about in the shallow water before the coral. The nature of the beach and coral etc means you can see some amazing wildlife including fish hunting birds etc. We enjoyed many nights at the Rum Bar at the edge of the beach watching the sunsets. It was very pretty and isolated from the real world. A proper break from normal life. Without doubt, the staff were excellent throughout. I understand that Thai people are very kind and helpful anyway, but so many of the staff helped to give us a great stay. I only managed to remember some of the names: Ron, Mam and Tae were fantastic in the pool bar (where we spent a lot of our time) Nina at the Rum bar Patty at the Merchant kitchen And First at the lobby They all helped to make our holiday excellent. Some Positives: We had a good sized room with quite a bit of storage. The room was cleaned to a high standard Great choice of food and drink on the menus. Food was generally excellent. Pools are big and never crowded. Hotel generally very well kept, especially the grounds and the pools. Lots of visible security and hotel felt safe. Different theme nights for food. Enjoyable entertainment and good facilities. Some negatives: We ate in the Thai restaurant, which while wasn't that busy, was incredibly slow to get our food once ordered. Almost like we had been forgotten about. Some food orders brought out were incorrect which would be a concern if we had allergies and needed it to be accurate. We were given wristbands to wear as part of being all inclusive, but these are pointless as everyone has to provide their room number and sign receipts anyway. On the days we forgot our wristbands, the bill was still dealt with correctly. A couple of times our keycards stopped working and then from one of those times, they provided us with new keycards that still didn't work. The hotel buildings themselves are in need of some TLC and looking a bit dated in places. The corridors to the hotel rooms are exposed to the elements and during storms, the floor could actually develop puddles for you to walk through to get to your room. We only received a turn down service once in our stay. Its either provided or it isn't. Either way is fine but to just get it once appears to be a problem. One day our room was not cleaned at all for some reason. The rooms are not well soundproofed and we would often be disturbed during the night by vehicles on the nearby road and other guest going about their business. Our shower leaked water on to the floor outside of the shower tray and there was also mould in the bathrooms in places. Gym was a fair size for the hotel but very hot and children were able to get in and play around, which was quite annoying. One day the on site nursery called my mobile and told me my child was ready for collection but I don't have children... Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would come here again if the opportunity arose. There were some issues with the hotel and our stay, however these may be corrected over time and so don't be put off.

Pool bar and staff made this stay 10/10
Staff were amazing. Especially pool bar staff - Ron, Chai, Mam, Arvin and Moss. We were treated like royalty with friendly faces each day. All inclusive is definitely the way to go - well worth the extra money per day for the savings. The facilities are beautiful also.
This is without a doubt the best hotel we have ever stayed at. Just wanted to get that out of the way right from the start! Location: The location is stunning, surrounded by natural hills, trees, flowers, and its own secluded beach where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets every evening....
This is without a doubt the best hotel we have ever stayed at. Just wanted to get that out of the way right from the start! Location: The location is stunning, surrounded by natural hills, trees, flowers, and its own secluded beach where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets every evening. It even has its own butterfly sanctuary. You can snorkel and kayak using equipment provided by the hotel and explore the amazing marine life. Hotel: The warm welcome you receive as soon as you step into the hotel continues on throughout your stay to an incredibly high standard. The hotel itself is spacious and very nicely laid out. The grounds are filled with flowers, trees, grass etc and just look stunning. There are 3 pools: a child friendly pool, a main pool (complete with pool bar), and a chill out lazy river style pool (with swim up rooms) for when you need to relax. The rooms are of a good size and well equipped. The beds are very comfortable and all balconies either face to pool or the beach. There were frequent functions there and 3 weddings which were lovely to watch. Food & Drink: There are numerous restaurants and bars including an Asian, Italian, Beach Grill, and buffet, a lounge bar, a pool bar, a beach bar and possibly others. We went all inclusive and HIGHLY recommend you do the same. The food is incredible, always perfectly cooked, hot, and fresh. The drinks are fantastic, from the cocktails to the beers, wine, and everything in-between. The best hotel food and drink we have ever experienced. Staff: Everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and always eager to ensure you get the very best experience possible. They genuinely want to provide you with the best service and cater to your individual needs. Big shout outs to Bas, Nina and the crew at the Rum Shack. Gift, Milky, and the rest of the lounge team. Kik, Floor, BM, the list goes on! All fantastic friendly hard working people who I hope Marriott are very proud of. They all set an extremely high bar and are an excellent example of how to look after their guests, I'd happily be friends with each and every one of them! Summary: There is probably lots that I have missed, but as you can probably tell we were very happy. There is nothing we would have changed and I think Marriott have found a winning formula here. Our feedback would be: just continue doing what you are doing as it's working perfectly. If we ever return to Phuket THIS is where we will be staying again.

Our second time staying at this great hotel quietly tucked away past the hustle and bustle of Patong, with a semi-private beach and amazing easy snorkelling. Pros: - The staff can be a mixed bag but there are some real standouts who are fantastic including Jam (Guest Services), MJ (Rum Shack), Mook (Beach Grill), Kate & Warmy (DOCG), Smile (Housekeeping), Butter (Starbucks) and Ammy (Merchant Kitchen). All very friendly, helpful and welcoming! - Reef Center / Snorkelling - you can see tropical fish within inches of entering the often calm waters right at the start of the sandy beach. The reef crest is only 20 meters from the beach and after that you start to get to beautiful scenic snorkelling that is stunning and manageable for most swimmers. The ocean here is literally teaming with hundreds (thousands) of different types of beautiful fish. Tammy & Johnny in the Reef Centre are so helpful, patient and knowledgeable; we really appreciated their time. They can even arrange to take you out snorkelling or scuba diving if you like, and do great reef walks with the kiddies. The reef centre also provides wet shoes, snorkels, life jackets, kayaking and paddle boards which are ALL FREE if you are a guest of the hotel. We will continue to keep coming back to the hotel largely for the beach, snorkelling and amazing team at the reef centre. - The room is comfortable and cosy. We have stayed in both a balcony and a pool access room and enjoyed it both times. Personally we highly recommend requesting a room by the waterfall / lazy river area as it is much quieter than facing the pools. - The Spa is amazing! And incredible value for money. The staff are all absolutely fantastic (though apologies we were so Zen we didn't catch their names!). We love the couples packages and definitely recommend adding the couples bath to any treatment as it was sheer bliss. Only one small negative is that it is not well insulated so you can get some noise disturbance from outside. - The hotel is for everyone. We are a couple enjoying a romantic break but the hotel also caters for young and older families, with three different pools, lots of activities, various restaurants, the spa, the beach and loungers everywhere. There is space for everyone whether you are looking for a quiet time or fun family holiday. We've also seen two weddings and the setting looks beautiful for that. Cons: - Whilst some of the staff, as mentioned above, are great, some could do with a bit better training. One told us we couldn't order a la carte, one said no almond milk was available (which was then brought to us by someone else), one brought us a litre bottle of water with no glasses and then the bill..., etc. All relatively minor but it gets a bit frustrating. - The food is just ok. We are vegetarians and there are options but I would say they are quite limited. Not only that but breakfast buffet eggs, for example, are powder based (for omelette or scrambled) and not tasty at all. Definitely suggest ordering fried eggs! The Little Tiger restaurant on the hillside is a great option if you want to try something different, the spring rolls at the Rum Shack are a definite must, and there are little (almost hidden) super tasty chocolate treats at the Starbucks that are easily missed. Food may be better for non-vegetarians but for us it is alright but just not the the best and prices are still quite high given where you are. That said, two nights we had food issues but both were well saved by great management. All in all we are delighted we discovered this little gem. Its a one hour drive from the airport (which the hotel can arrange transfers for) and for us its just a 3.5 hour flight from Hong Kong for an annual trip to Paradise. Patong looks a little much (crazy) to us, but is also just a few minutes away if you want to explore further.

And chilling and relaxing was exactly what we did! Can't express how impressed we were with the resort, and the amazing staff at the Marriott - professional, friendly and always smiling! How wonderful to have a private beach nestled behind the resort with amazing views, as well as a pool bar to swim up to. And to top it all off, I was lucky to have the best back massage I have ever had in my life - shout out to Plu(?) at the spa, she was amazing. No complaints - I suggest everyone to book Marriott Resort & Spa, Merlin Beach and will be suggesting to all of my friends and family.

This was an amazing hotel for us , everything you could wish for in one place . The staff are so friendly and helpful, we loved the swim up bar and happy hour , we loved our swim up room and we LOVED the beach for snorkelling. We are divers and amount of life in the bay when the tide was in was exceptional. I don’t think you can beat it if you like snorkelling. The food in this hotel was the best we’ve had anywhere, we booked half board and it was more than enough. We loved the beach grill and KIK was lovely and the manager Matt very friendly. We did a couple of trips to the hidden forest elephant sanctuary ( the most ethical one ) and James Bond island which was a lovely day out with a few islands to visit and lunch at the island on stilts . A wonderful 10 night stay here at Marriott Merlin Beach! This was our 2nd time here, and the service gets better each time. The staff are always reaching out to assist in any way they can, smiles from staff every day, great rooms, great beach, great pools, fabulous breakfast. A wonderful place for R & R. Suggestion: Consider charging for the shuttle bus only to those that book the service but then do not come at the booked time ( and do not have the courtesy to cancel prior). A big thank you to TO-BI who went above and beyond. I left a sentimental item at our previous resort and he not only called that resort and located the item, but he then went to get the item personally and returned it to me! 🙂. Thank you to PATT who always greeted us with smiles and warmth, as she did last year also. Thankyou to NENE also for her kindness. An especially big thank you to the housekeeping stay who made our stay special and decorated the room for my birthday...FAH, JIT, PEAR, BON and NONG... your service was wonderful. SUMMER greeted us with smiles as she did last year. MILKY, thankyou for the bon voyage drinks! You have all made our stay extra special. See you next year! Khob khun kha. Until next time, Gabriella and Quentin 😊

You need to walk out a bit between some rocks, because if the water isn't deep enough, you might hurt/cut yourself with the waves pushing you around. We had dinner in various restaurants, and the food was always great. They had live music on both evenings. The resort is big. There is a bar by the beach, with amazing staff. Perfect place for pre-dinner cocktail. We would definitely come back, and stay slightly longer.

The hotel boasts excellent infrastructure and offers a full day of resort activities. Guests can enjoy complimentary snorkeling and kayaking equipment. One of the highlights is its access to Merlin Beach, which is exceptionally clean and beautiful. Although it is a public beach, you will rarely see outsiders—it is mostly frequented by resort guests. During my stay, I was highly impressed by the hospitality. I participated in a reef walk and even created sea glass jewelry. Tammy and Tee were incredibly sweet and helpful throughout the experience. I’ve attached pictures of the sea glass jewelry I made. On the last day of our visit, a staff member, Monika, surprised us with complimentary mango sticky rice, which was such a kind gesture. She also prepared masala tea for us during our stay. Other staff members who made our experience truly special were Nina, Ammy, and Ket. The options for Indian vegetarian food are somewhat limited, but we managed just fine.
