We stayed in June of 2017 and it was our second visit to the island. We've been thinking of all the wonderful staff we met while staying on Peter Island. Keeping all of you in our prayers and hoping for another stay when you reopen. This a special place for us. Our first trip just the two of us after taking a couple years from travel after having our son. It was a truly wonderful experience and the perfect resort for reconnecting. Our second stay was also a special one as we were there for a wedding of our close family. This resort has everything. Amazing beaches, amazing food and wine list, amazing staff. We are hoping to get there again one day!

Traveled here in June with my wife and truly was the vacation of a lifetime. We are big fans of the BVI and we both agreed that had found the ultimate vacation spot. The service and location are the two things that really set Peter island as one of the top resorts in the world. Deadmans beach is probably the best beach I've ever been lucky enough to visit. The staff here are amazing! Personal and friendly, everyone knew our name within 2 days... we really felt like we had become part of the family before we sadly said good bye. Understand that Peter island was hit pretty bad by the hurricanes, we wish you the best of luck and can't wait to return!

Private, secluded, friendly, scenic--what more could you ask for? The staff is almost uniformly polite and friendly, especially the guys at the sports shack on the beach. They gave me a few sailing lessons in the catamaran and I was sailing within an hour--loved it! The staff will drive you anywhere on the island. There are off-island excursions available, but we had no need of them. We spent almost every day on Deadman's Beach. Couldn't have been more relaxing. Lovely place!

My husband and I honeymooned in Peter Island in late August and had the time of our lives. The island is spectacular - everything about it is gorgeous and prestige. The staff has the friendliest people you will ever meet who are truly genuine and care about you. From the moment we arrived, they were very helpful and friendly with constant smiles on their faces. The island has two restaurants - Tradewinds which was open for breakfast / dinner and Deadman's which is open for lunch and an occasional dinner such as Caribbean night. Do NOT miss this night - the dinner is a buffet type dinner on Wednesday's and was phenomenal. We wish we could've stayed another day to have one more! We stayed in the beach front junior suites which were very nice and spacious for our honeymoon. We had plenty of room and never felt crowded. We had some mosquitos in our room which the rooms director immediately took care of. The staff was always so helpful in instances like this. Throughout our stay we went on the Silmaril Sail coordinated through PI (which we would HIGHLY recommend - it was our #1 must do), received a couples massage at the spa by the beach (would also recommend - the massage was a little pricey as with any resort, but it was in a room by the beach to listen to the waves and amazing), went on the trip to the loop with wine and cheese (a must-do one night), went to Honeymoon beach (nice and secluded, but we liked Deadman's / Little Deadman's / White Bay Better), spent a day on Tortola (would also recommend - the PI staff set us up with the friendliest driver throughout the day on Tortola for a very reasonable price where we went ziplining / enjoyed a lunch by the beach, etc) and spent a day on White Bay. We wish we had spent another day on White Bay. The beach was gorgeous with our own hut. We went during a slow time so we had this beach to ourselves to snorkel, lay out and relax. We met the nicest people while on the island. If you are looking for a place to relax, Peter Island is the place to go. There isn't much going on at night as the island sort of "shuts down" by 9 pm, but this is exactly what we were looking for on our honeymoon. We bought the meal plan but not the drink plan. Next time, we probably wouldn't buy either. The meal plan had us eating more than we normally would order and next time, we would probably come out a little under if not even as we wouldn't have eaten as much. The island had nice selections of wine as well which we were able to enjoy different bottles each night. If you're looking for a nice place to relax, spend time with close family, honeymoon, etc., Peter Island is your place to go. If you fly into Saint Thomas, make sure you book the yacht / Peter Island transportation. It was the best decision we made getting to / from the island as it was so easy and smooth. We can't wait to come back for a future anniversary! Peter Island & Staff - stay strong throughout Irma and Maria. We are thinking and praying for all of you and your beautiful island!

Spa was nice. Secluded pools. Great food and service. Try the banana pancakes and homemade cookies! You won't be disappointed! Make sure to tour the eagles nest (luxery house you can rent). Rooms aren't the nicest ever stayed in but seclusion and beach and pools unforgettable

Perfect place for a wedding or honeymoon. The spa was one of the best I had ever seen. My favorite thing was a couples massage overlooking the beach. The staff took us to the top of the hill in golf carts so we could drink champagne and watch the sunset. It was magical. The snorkeling is best on the back side of the island. There is a reef teeming with aquatic life. There is also an awesome wreck for diving nearby - the Rhone. The food also needs to be mentioned. Every meal was spectacular! There was even entertainment that was much better than I expected...stilt walkers, dancers, fire jugglers, etc..

If you're looking for rest, relaxation, family time and reflection, the is the pace for you. The staff is happy to serve your every wish and they have left no stone or detail uncovered. We just got back and it was a slower than bust period, so we don't know what it's like in hi-season. The rooms are clean, organized, ad look like new. The food is terrific in every aspect. A visit to Tortola would be incomplete without a visit to Peter Island. Easily the most expensive Island, but well worth it if you like true 5 star service. Those of you that do, know it costs money. As a side note, they have sailing excursions, deep sea diving, sailing, and all sorts of water sports available. We are already planning our return for

The spa cabana in the top of the hill has the best location ever. Great professional, they know what they are doing. The view and the breeze has no parallel. There was a family of sharks at the beach. Great experience.

We had the good fortune of being in dock at Peter Island when a major storm hit the BVI, the worst storm in 20 years. So we were grateful to be in a safe location at a five star resort. We hung out at the beach, the pool, the library, and enjoyed five star restaurants. We had so much fun, we hung on for a couple of extra days once the winds returned to normal. We would recommend a stop at Peter Island for anyone sailing in the area or at least a stop for lunch and a dip in Deadman's Bay!!

Peter Island used to be a private island resort that had a yacht harbor. Last week it felt like a marina that had a hotel! And although we had a wonderful time with our friends, the resort now appears to value its visiting yachters as much as its resort guests and is truly lacking in its normal hospitality. 1) For starters, the best part of Deadman’s Bay Beach (in front of the Beach Club & bar) has now been designated for visitors. The resort guest lounge chairs (still filthy) have been moved to the sides and the next best beach positions are reserved for Peter Island “villa” guests. When we arrived (4 days before the storm), there was a huge amount of seaweed on the shoreline and it smelled like a sewer break! The mess was slowly cleaned up on the half of the beach where the yachties filled up the chairs but never cleaned up from the beachfront rooms, all the way over to the Beach Club. If I’d paid the $800-900/nt for a beachfront room, I’d have been livid! A long-time employee told us they’d never seen seaweed build up like it before…ever. Sharing that previous managers had always hired 10-20 workers & a backhoe from Tortola to come and clean it up. Beyond disappointing! 2) The marina was full of bareboat and crewed yacht charter boats all week…not just during the storm. It was an unusual sight to us as long-time visitors to the island. By the end of the week, seeing how Peter Island has given them the best of the beach, allows them to lounge in the pool chairs & in the pool while the boat captains hang out in the “Club Room”, it’s clear that Peter Island has greatly changed or relaxed the longtime rule that has protected certain areas for resort guests. We understand that there’s revenue to be generated here but veteran and potential new resort guests need to be aware of this shift in priorities. If this statement is incorrect, there was certainly no extra staff to shoo off the “non-belongers” all week and the poor bartenders were drowning in bar customers while also trying to get towels for pool resort guests. 3) By the time we arrived at the Tuesday night dinner buffet (7:15pm), it had been mooooowed down and the dining rooms overcrowded with large parties from visiting yachts. Another resort guest witnessed two boat captains bully the front desk late in the afternoon into allowing them to have dinner that evening. The kitchen was clearly not prepared to feed this many mouths and it was resort guests that suffered the consequence. 4) Another irritating issue was that beach towels were not available when we arrived on the beach most days which is completely unacceptable at a beach resort! The watersports guys are taking the hit from the guests’ irritation for this mismanagement. While the PI ferry is on STT, send someone to Costco to buy some stinking beach towels! 5) We were on island during the storm last Monday (8/7) and our hearts went out to those affected as they showed us personal videos & pictures of the devastation on Tortola and recounted stories of employees that had to sleep in their cars when they got off the late ferry. Many employees were unable to make it to work on Tuesday. This storm in no way had a negative influence on our stay. What did bother us was that we didn’t see any upper management in the trenches pitching in on those difficult, short staffed days except Eric, the Food & Beverage Manager. (we know the GM was off island). This sends a bad message to the staff as well as guests about the level of caring and support in a challenging time. 6) On the morning of our departure, one of the long-time employees (I believe his name is Simmons) was the only person to shake our hands and thank us for coming back to Peter Island. The check-out process at the front desk was purely a financial transaction. When we asked what the transfer procedure to STT would be, she gave us incorrect information. How could the front desk personnel not have a full understanding of the process their departing guests would go through? We have plenty more examples to share that emphasize the lack of staff training in gracious hospitality, logistics as well as geography and history of the BVI’s (including correct knowledge the Wreck of the Rhone on its 150th Anniversary!!). As our return ferry passed Caneel Bay Resort and its pristine beaches, I was reminded of how they treat their guests as cherished and couldn’t help but wish we had just spent our week there. We purposely chose Peter Island over Caneel Bay and several other exotic locations (Bora Bora) so that our friends could experience what we have so dearly loved in the past. But sadly, the bottom-line is we will not return to Peter Island as resort guests with the current standards and philosophy.

My husband and I have been to the BVI's several times as "yachties". This year we decided to stay at a resort and chose Peter Island Resort and Spa. Expected a 5 star resort but got a 1-2 star at best. Besides the seaweed being piled up on the beach (BEFORE the big storm on 8/7), the beach chairs were disgusting; broke, stained. On several of the days they ran out of beach towels (2 of those days being BEFORE the big storm on 8/7). Also, the "yachties" seemed to be much more catered to than the resort guests. Food was good at Tradewinds but very very limited entrees and repeating menu. Deadmans Grill food better. Rooms clean and nice. Seems to me someone is "dropping the ball" keeping the grounds clean, in good repair. Management staff nowhere to be found after storm, when off island staff couldn't get to island. That would have been the time for "all hands on deck". We love the BVI's and will return BUT WILL NOT CHOOSE PETER ISLAND RESORT AND SPA. Looking forward to Little Dix on Virgin Gorda reopening!
