Melia Paradisus Grand Cana
Fabio was the best! He kept us entertained every time we came in contact with him. His fun and energetic spirit should be a model for all staff!!!! Thanks for making our vacation at Melia one to remember for a lifetime!!! We will definitely return.

Great weather and resort is new and very clean. However, would not return and feel 5 star is not accurate for what you get. - If you don’t pay extra to have a concierge then getting a dinner reservation would be difficult, especially if you arrive after a Sunday or mid week. We were fortunate to have one included and he was awesome however, disappointing you need one to help with getting reservations. - Rooms were great, up to date, clean, spacious, swim out pool is worth it but request an inward facing pool so you get sun majority of the day. - Food was not where it should be for a 5 star. Comparable to a Riu resort. — Would have liked to have seen a cafe that was open for quick food or take away when buffet was closed between meals. Only option is room service. - Staff was a mix, some were very friendly and welcoming but others rude and seemed like helping you was a bother. - Activities and shows were low budget, not expected for 5 star. I’ve been to Excellence Collection and Riu and am comparing off those which I felt for me were superior. - Wish they did not allow kids at the pool bar. Riu family friendly resort does it right where bar pool is adults only and all other pools are for kids, would like to see this here as well as more pool seating like their sister resort Palma Real.

First time in Punta Cana and I am really glad that we chose Paradisus Gran Cana. Overall, we liked our stay and will be recommending the resort to our friends as well! We were staying only for three nights and it was just two of us so we did not see a benefit in getting the upgraded concierge services but I can see the benefit if it's a family and you don't want to deal with reservations/activities on your own. Firstly, since we checked in, we had a great welcome from the staff while we waited to speak to someone. Had an opportunity to upgrade our room for free, thank you Nelson for your help! Our upgraded room was in the corner of building 1 so a bit far from the lobby but it was gigantic. We loved it! For the surroundings - beautiful setup, peaceful and really relaxing. The beach was a bit far and you need a golf cart to get there but manageable as they run quite frequently. The food, honestly we thought the buffet was fine. Great options to choose from, decent meals and even if you don't get to reserve the restaurants, the buffet is pretty good. For the restaurants, I'd like to thank Carol for helping us reserve since we didn't have concierge service. She got us two reservations at the steakhouse and Mangù. The steakhouse we felt was just ok, that night the service was very slow at least for us, and between finishin the appetizer and the main course we waited more than 30 min. Mangù on the other side, service was very attentive, food was delicious and we really loved it. For the drinks, their cocktails are great! As I mentioned we didn't have upgrades so all liquor was local but they knew what they were doing. Wines for us were extra so even the one night we wanted two glasses, we were told they were selling the entire bottle so we just skipped it. The entertainment, could be better but to us it didn't matter. We wanted quiet and relaxing nights at the resort and we got that. I had read somewhere that tipping would be better in dominican pesos so at the airport I exchanged dollars but I got large bills and at the front desk they were only breaking US dollars so if you make the same mistake I did, you won't have any bills to tip appropriately. I'd suggest bringing $1s and $5s to tip bartenders/servers/bell boys etc. They are very appreciative of that! Overall, we really liked our experience at Paradisus by Melia and felt this was a great choice after all.

We have been going to the Melia Paradisus resorts in Punta Cana. Both Palma Real and Gran Cana for fifteen or more years You can’t beat the friendly people who work there and they are so obliging. Recommend it. Food just ok though Gran Cana more for families Palma Real more upscale and more lively at night. Bartenders are terrific. It’s all inclusive. Not inexpensive. Top shelf everything if you are a Circle Black member. We do love it there. Beach has too much seaweed but they try to stay on top of removing it.

We recently stayed at this resort for seven days. On the first day, we discovered water leaking from the bathroom ceiling of our assigned room. We contacted the front desk, and they arranged for repairs. Unfortunately, the leak occurred again on the third day. Additionally, on Sunday morning at 9 AM, we lined up to make dinner reservations for our stay. Due to a system issue, we had to wait in line for over two hours before finally securing a reservation. It’s hard to understand why, in 2025, guests still have to wait in line instead of using an online booking system. No longer wanting to stay in a room with ongoing leaks, we visited the Guest Service Desk to address both issues. Supervisor Elivania handled our complaints exceptionally well, turning a problematic situation into a positive experience. She upgraded our room and provided us with priority access to restaurant reservations. Thanks to Elivania’s wise and friendly handling of the situation, my wife and I were able to move past our frustration and enjoy the rest of our trip. We are deeply grateful for her outstanding customer service. Aside from the leaking room, all other hardware facilities at the resort were excellent, and most of the staff members were generally friendly. However, I would like to suggest a few areas for improvement to enhance the overall experience: Language Proficiency of Service Staff: The communication skills of some service staff members in the food and beverage departments were lacking. Basic training on English communication and familiarity with menu items is needed. Quality of Coffee and Bakery Items: Compared to other resorts we’ve visited, the quality of coffee and bakery items was disappointing. It does not meet the standards of a five-star hotel. Poor Preparation at the Japanese Restaurant: Basic cooking skills seem to be an issue. For example, the noodles in the soup were undercooked and hard, and the rice in the sushi was not properly cooked, with raw grains still present. With these improvements, the resort could truly provide a top-notch experience.
