We were passing through from Yellowstone to Wyoming, and stayed one night. And a pleasant night it was. ROOMS: We were in a 5th floor room in the north corner, probably an odd layout being in the corner like that, but it was appointed very nicely, and quite comfortable. Shower had excellent pressure. Only minor quibbles were that the safe in the close was on an upper shelf, perfect for its open door to whack your head, and one side of the bed at the head was about five feet from the bathroom, making it not very private. 1st Avenue, unfortunately, is a pretty noisy street at night and early morning, and the A/C units behind the hotel made an audible hum in the room. But, again, we were very comfortable, and would willingly have stayed longer if we'd needed to. SERVICE: Both the desk staff and the valets were top-notch, friendly and helpful. AMENITIES: The hotel sports two restaurants: Bernie's Diner (breakfast and lunch), which was excellent, and TEN (bar and dinner) which was very good (and pricey). LOCATION: The hotel is in downtown Billings, so a bit of a drive from the interstate. The neighborhood is okay, not great. NET-NET: I'd certainly stay there again if I were passing through or visiting Billings. It's not cheap, but it was a nice stay.

A great hotel when visiting Billings. Centrally located with valet parking at no extra cost (unlike many hotels). Staff who are warm and friendly and room they are clean and comfortable. A bonus is the in hotel diner for a great breakfast. A really pleasant experience.

Northern Hotel is a great place to stay. I had requested an early check in and was very pleased to find that our room was ready when we arrived. We chose to self park, which was easy, but in retrospect we should have used the free valet service since all of the employees were helpful, friendly and efficient. We only spent one night so we booked a standard king room and it was very comfortable. There was plenty of space for toiletries and belongings and a large safe. The bathrobes were soft and there were lots of towels. I would have liked a makeup mirror, however the bathroom was well lit, so it wasn’t strictly necessary, though a full length mirror would have been helpful. We were on the 6th floor so there was some traffic noise but not excessive. Don’t skip breakfast at Bernie’s Diner, the food is delicious and service was excellent.

Right in downtown Billings. Rooms are clean staff is pleasant. Valet parking is free and efficient. Tip them a few bucks. On site restaurant but there are bars and restaurants within 2 blocks. House keeping staff responsive and courteous. Will definitely stay again.

Just an incredible experience from the staff to the room. A doorman on site 24/7 and free airport transport are just some of the perks. Older hotel but the rooms are completely updated and modern with an incredible bed. It has to be the best hotel in Billings hands down.

This is an amazing hotel. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Valet was quick to respond. The rooms were very clean and nicely accommodating. The restaurants are excellent. TEN had amazing food as well as Bernie’s Diner. I highly recommend staying here !!!

This was a lovely conveniently located place to stay in Billings and offered a lot of value for the room price. The lobby was pretty and off of it there was a very authentic looking diner and an elegant bar/restaurant. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was nicely appointed and very comfortable. The room price included complimentary valet and a free drink upon check in. I booked through hotels.com and was given 2 $10 off vouchers for the bar or restaurant. My only complaint and it is minor is the way they pass the credit card charges which looks like you are being overcharged by $100 until what looks like 2 holds are released.

For too many years, Billings was without a Class A hotel. Until the Northern opened, with the bonus that pricing is totally reasonable--though perhaps not for budget-conscious families. If you're talking couples, THIS IS YOUR PLACE! Your first great experience at the Northern is when you valet your car, at no cost but a tip for the always ready & able staff. Your next experience will be the lobby; when my sister entered, she said, "Whoa ... we're NOT at a Day's Inn!" Correct. You're about five levels above a Day's Inn. Next: about your room. Book a King junior of mini suite or higher. It's only a few dollars more than the standard King, but you get much more space, a distinctly divided sitting space and bedroom, and two tv's. The rooms are beautifully appointed--with a distinctive but restrained western vibe. Finally, I must direct you to the bar at the Northern (this is separate from the fine-dining establishment called TEN). There's an extensive bar menu that will serve quite nicely for dinner, and the craft cocktail menu is the best I've encountered in Montana. I can say no more, other than I LOVE the Northern, and that many others share my opinion--and I'm confident that you will too.

There are also lots of other cafes, restaurants, and bars in walking distance. The lobby is gorgeous, parking is free and convenient, and there is valet service, if that’s your thing. Staff treated us so well!
