This was a great vacation. The resort is well run and the service top notch. Ruby, who organizes daily activities, stood out in particular. Very warm and great energy. The food was outstanding and you are able to kayak and snorkel right from the over the water villas. Our weather was not great but that was just bad luck. The villa itself was perfect. Comfortable and good for shade or for sun. The private pool is fed from the ocean so salt water and cool enough after a hot day. A few things to know. Not cons so much but wish I knew this ahead of time. The villas are not very private. Not a big deal but we had a loud neighbor for one night only. The water is different than other parts of the Caribbean. It’s clear but dark as opposed to the Bahamas or other places where the water is like glass. Unless you do some of the excursions, you won’t see a ton off the island (see note re kayaking below). It’s super chill and comfortable and there are some included hikes in other islands for some of the daily activities but if you want something more active, you need to sign up for one of the boat tours. For us, quiet and kayaking were fine. You can kayak to a few of the surrounding mangrove islands and snorkel and that was plenty for us. It was a great vacation and again to staff was outstanding.

Nayara Bocas was incredible. Everyone was so kind and went out of their way to be friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The food was spectacular- miles ahead in quality and variety compared to what we expected. Every night at elephant house was something different. From the bread course to the dessert course. We loved the beach bar and talking with Jesus, Franco, and Carlos. The resort provides daily free activities (yoga, garden tour, cocktail class, hikes) with Ruby who was so enthusiastic and a great host. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and we loved our daily walks through the secret gardens. Kayaking was also incredible with the crystal blue waters and stunning coral reefs along the side of the island. We cannot say enough positive things about this resort and can’t wait for the day we come back.

Staying here was one of the best hotel experiences ever! The hotel arranged our private car transfer from Boquete. The driver picked us up precisely on time in Boquete and drove several hours over the mountains to the Caribbean coast. The car brought us to a private dock in Almirante where a small powerboat from the hotel picked us up for the twenty minute transfer to the island. The boat ride was smooth and showed us the beautiful surroundings-an archipelago of islands in the blue green waters of the Carribbean. On arrival at the island we had a welcome drink and a delicious lunch (all food and drink are already included in the cost, so menus have no prices and there are no limits on what one can have, requiring a bit of self-control). Then we were shown the property and our overwater villa. Like the entire property, our villa was beautiful. Hand carved in Bali and transported to Panama. The villa is spacious and was beautifully furnished-including a portion of a floor that is a pane of thick glass through which you can watch the marine life below. It also has a large deck with a firepit, swimming pool, chairs and loungers. Also, there are stairs that lead into the lagoon from where you can swim, snorkel, paddle-board, or kayak. You just need to tell the hotel what you would like to do and they bring the kayak or paddle-board or snorkeling equipment to your villa quickly. You can then keep the equipment at your villa for your stay. Best of all, each villa comes with an ipad that provides a direct and immediate connection to guest services. Think of anything you need-just send a message and it will be delivered to you within minutes any time of day or night. This was a truly exceptional feature that worked flawlessly (we all need an ipad like this at home!). Meals can be taken in the villa or at any of the restaurants bars on the property-or on a boat. The restaurant buildings are all open air and beautiful and the food and drinks are excellent. The service is friendly and superb and after an hour or two, you feel like you know everybody and everybody knows you and calls you by name. It is easy to meet the few guests and everyone seems to relish being there and is friendly and relaxed with one another. This feeling of closeness is fostered by the programs the hotel puts on for its guests every day. Every day starts with a 30 minute meditation followed by one hour of yoga. Then later in the morning (at 10.30), the hotel offers an activity such as a hike on a nearby island, kayaking around the island, visiting the gardens on the island, etc. Then, in the early afternoon, there is another activity offered, such as cocktail making, pottery making, etc. All these activities are free, optional, and a lot of fun. Rubi, who is in charge of the activities and does them with you, makes sure that everyone who wants to can participate at their own level and that everyone enjoys the experience. After a full day at Nyara Bocas you feel so relaxed and happy, and Rubi has a lot to do with that. If you need more, there is a gym, a floating sandy beach, and an excellent spa. Or you can just relax by your pool and watch the dolphins and rays swim by. Or go for a swim in the beautiful pool by the day restaurant/bar. So much more could be said about this place-but it is something that needs to be experienced. We were so, so happy we came and easily could have stayed a week. This is a very special place.

My wife and I visited for 3 nights with 2 friends. We had adjacent lodges. It’s a fun, interesting and different place to stay. The staff are brilliant. The over water lodges perfect for the location and many activities or just chilling. Panama is under visited from Europe at least. Panama City is interesting with great restaurants and flying from its secondary airport to the lodge is simple. We booked the lodge and Panama Air flights directly: it was simple and efficient. The lodge communicated often and clearly, meeting the plane for transfer by water to our accommodation. The hotel is on an island 30 min by boat from the main town and airport. Dinner in the restaurant is fun and the food wonderful. The room is set at the end of a walkway surrounded by water with rays and small sharks visible during dining. Excursions and activities are fab. We asked for kayaks and paddleboards to be provided, and they duly turned up tethered to the steps of our over water room. A canoe around the mangroves or over to a nearby island is easily done & fun. An excursion to other islands provided great sloth, frog and starfish viewing. The evening dolphin cruise would have been spectacular, but the tropics did what the tropics can do: rain oh rain! We stayed 3 nights but wished it could have been a week.

Nayara in Bocas Del Toro is a very special place and a totally unique experience. My wife and I have been blessed to have stayed in some of the finest resorts in the world; including some in Asia that were at the time the top rated resorts in the world and recently celebrated our 50th anniversary at Nayara. While the service and experience of those resorts are impeccable, Nayara takes the experience to another level. The over-the-water villa were designed, hand carved and constructed in Bali, and then disassembled and rebuilt on the arched shore of Nayara's private island where there is even a man-made beach with a bar and launch. The carefully manicured trails and gardens wind through lush surroundings I can only describe as exotic. With a staff to guest ratio greater than two to one and a maximum guest capacity of only 40, the service at Nayara is attentive yet discrete to say the least. As the wine steward would often say, "anything is possible." This mantra is reflected by everyone who works there. You will find the service at Nayara goes steps beyond attentiveness. I can only describe it as service from the heart with a deep desire to share the subtle Zen of Nayara and ensure that everything, from food to beverage and all accommodations are delivered to your individual desires. The attention to detail is beyond amazing. If you want it, the staff wants to provide it and conveys your requests as though they are privileged to deliver. The staff at Nayara provides guests with an aura of love. They show they truly love the unique environment that Nayara provides and they want to share every essence of that with their guests. Literally every person on staff performs every task not just with pride, but a deep love for their guests, and it shows. I strongly recommend opting to allow Nayara to arrange for VIP service through Panamanian customs for your arriving flight, as well as transportation and lodging arrangements for a couple nights in Casco Viejo (the old town of Panama City). They will gladly suggest and arrange for any tours you would like or you can do that on your own. I hope you find my thoughts helpful and that you choose to experience Nayara Bocas Del Toro.

Incredible!! A little slice of heaven!! The most beautiful place. Exceptional accommodations, a culinary creative experience at the Elephant house and staff who caters to every need. A place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of nature, the clear water and the beautiful sunsets.

This resort has so much potential, but just misses. For the amount it costs, I feel it is not worth it. Most noteworthy is the lack of privacy. For a “romantic” get-away it just doesn’t cut it. You can see into the rooms and the private decks without even trying. They put up slatted privacy walls that offer no privacy. Additionally, you can hear every word your neighbor says. They have small boats to take you around. They are extremely difficult to enter from the side, which the drivers have you do, even though there is a bow entrance. Getting to the back seat requires you to climb over the front seat. Again, not easy. The boats are not in great repair. The one that took us back to town for departure had broken zippers and cleats. The sides could not be secured and we and our luggage got wet. This was also some disorganization when it came to settling the bill. On the positive, the food was fabulous and the people just amazing. Resort is beautiful. The excursions were really enjoyable, however the descriptions could be a bit more complete. Overall, for this price point, the resort is not ready for prime time.

The staff are friendly, professional and available around the clock for anything you need or didn't know you needed. The food was fantastic with menu options aplenty. I highly recommend the private boat/captain rental (and captain Magnol (nickname Marsh) in particular) which provides a highly flexible way to explore the local islands, beaches, and wildlife including dolphins, red frogs, sloths, monkeys and abundant snorkeling options to mention a few. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable and we hope to return soon!

First time in Bocas del Toro, first time at a Nayara. Stayed five nights during Christmas 2024. Simply exceptional. We stayed in the most luxurious treehouse surrounded by lush gardens and exotic birds who visited daily. The accommodations were perfect. The staff is top of the line, courteous, and prompt. The meals were 10/10 for every meal which is a rarity. The excursions were amazing: kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, hiking, and beach trips. There is so much to see and do. We will definitely return and are so excited for the new spa / treehouse when it is completed.

Beautiful boutique hotel with only 20 villas. Attentive service, excellent food and good selection of wines and cocktails. Good selection of activities - either included or reasonably priced. For the price, villas are on the smallish side. And the older villas are a bit behind on maintenance. Overall, however, would recommend.

This hotel was above and beyond all my expectations, I can’t recommend it enough! We came here for four nights after a trip to Costa Rica, and I wish we had booked more nights here. We stayed at another Nayara property, Nayara Springs, before this. Springs was great in its own way, but Nayara Bocas Del Toro felt much more our vibe and more special. We stayed in an over water villa. They’re beautifully designed and sitting in the private pool or on the deck watching the flying fish and birds over the water was so special. Because the hotel is so small it is always so quiet. The only slight critiques of the room is that the floor is very slippery and the pool is quite overlooked by the neighbouring villa, so not as private as other similar places that we have stayed before. We snorkelled and kayaked right off our deck. There was a good amount of coral, fish and other marine life to see, not as much density as the Maldives, but second only to there. We were also saw sharks and sting rays that were a treat. There are also A LOT of sea urchins, but it is easy to avoid them as the water is deep enough straight off the deck. I really recommend kayaking around the island as you get some great views of the coast line, and an idea of how big the island is. You can also spot lots of starfish in the clear water. Having the kayaks delivered directly to our room first thing in the morning was so convenient. The hotel arranged a boat trip for us and it was one of the best trips I have ever been on. The area around the hotel is so unspoilt and peaceful. We snorkelled at coral cay, visited the beautiful Zapatilla island and went to the mangrove river where we saw sloths, and we were lucky enough to see dolphins twice while we were sailing. The boat was well supplied with whatever drinks we wanted and some great snacks. We couldn’t believe that we barely saw any other tourists while exploring this beautiful area. The hotel doesn’t have a proper beach, but the man made beach is something cool and different to see. The beach on Zapatilla island is incredible and just a short boat ride away if you do want a beach day. All the meals we had here were great, it’s nice to have the mix of more casual ‘easy’ food available at the pool bar for lunch, and then a more sophisticated dinner menu. The service was perfect for us, friendly and efficient but also laid back and informal. We appreciated Scott, the manager, introducing himself to us at our first dinner. Our arrival was a little clunky as we had to wait at the dock for our boat to the hotel for about 20 minutes without much communication on why we were waiting or how long it would be, and then when we arrived we were taken to the lunch restaurant and offered a drink and food while our check in was organised. We said no to food as we were keen to get in our room, presuming the check in process would be quick, but we ended up waiting for nearly an hour. If we had known, we would have ordered food when we sat down. It wasn’t a huge issue, but it was the only part of the service that I think stood out as needing some improvement. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, just a bit too slow at this part. The tablets in the room that you can use to order room service/book activities etc are a great idea, but the user friendliness of them could be improved. Overall we had an amazing stay at Nayara Bocas del Toro and would hugely recommend booking! Our absolute highlight was the beautiful, unspoilt location, we didn’t know places like this still existed!

I must disagree with most of the previous reviews of Nayara Bocas del Toro, and that's why it has taken me so long to write mine. We have been to many beach resorts all over the world: Africa, Australia, Fiji, Tahiti, Cook Islands, all over the Caribbean. I think Bocas del Toro is just not our holiday style. BdT is on a mangrove forest island (please excuse the incorrect terminology), it is not set on a sandy island. The only sand you'll find is on their man-made beach which IMO is quite unimpressive and each time we were there we were alone (except for the sweet bartender). Because of the mangroves the water is brown, not the blue we're used to, and the bottom is covered in slimy seaweed. We did not snorkel because my husband had an ear infection but the water wasn't very inviting anyway. We made arrangements to go on the boat excursion to the other islands but it was cancelled due to a storm. We did do the dolphin excursion and it was wonderful. Our boat captain, Pedro, was quite knowledgeable and knew just where to find those dolphins. Highly recommended. Sorry but we thought the food was pretty bad. It was beautifully presented but the taste was not great. One night I ordered the steak and was not asked how I wanted it done. It was so rare I couldn't eat it, and it was already sliced so difficult to put back on the grill. (My husband loved it, though.) I know I could have asked for one that was cooked to my liking but I didn't want to wait. FYI there were 3 dinner choices every night, one of them being vegetarian. There is also a cafe open 23 hours/day with a separate menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. One night we decided to have dinner there and the food was terrible. The shrimp on my pasta was no better than the frozen stuff you get at the grocery store. Tough and tasteless. Quite disappointing. We were asked twice if we were celebrating anything while we were there and we told them it was a birthday. They said they'd make a cake and asked what kind we would like. Never did get the cake, either at the restaurant or our villa. The villa was very nice and very clean. The sheets were soft and the bed was comfortable. Our villa only had one air conditioner (I guess some have two) which blew directly on to my side of the bed while my husband sweated on the other. Aside from all these "problems" we found with BdT I'm still leaving a 5 star review. The reason for this is the people. The people at BdT were wonderful, everybody. We asked for a particular liqueur after dinner one night and, though we did not find it on their shelves, somehow they found it for us. The bartenders were great and fun. Scott, the general manager, introduced himself at dinner one night and chatted for awhile. Very nice and friendly man. When my husband had a medical issue and needed to see a doctor the front desk people connected us with a doctor on the phone who was very thorough, even had us send him pictures to help diagnose. BdT sent someone into town to pick up the medicine and brought it to our room. The only thing we paid for was the prescription. This was over and above the call of duty, in my opinion, and saved our vacation. I don't know if we would return to BdT but if we did it would be partly to just hang out with the lovely crew. Cheers to all.
