I recently stayed at Myconian Avaton in Mykonos Island in August 2024, in room 4191, and once again, the experience was exceptional. As frequent guests of Myconian Collection Hotels & Resorts, we always have high expectations, and this visit did not disappoint. The room exceeded our expectations in every way. It was beautifully designed, and the view was absolutely majestic. Watching the sunset from our room, with the sky painted in shades of purple, orange, and light blue, while overlooking the serene Elia area, was truly breathtaking. The room service was impeccable, but what truly made our stay memorable were Ethymis and Anna from the resort's F&B team. Whether it was during breakfast or at the pool, they were always there with a smile, offering helpful tips and recommendations. Their warmth and professionalism were outstanding. We also indulged in a spa treatment, which was incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating, adding to the overall sense of tranquility we experienced during our stay. Staying at Myconian Avaton during the busiest period in Mykonos, when relaxation is so essential, was an absolute delight. We can’t wait to return and enjoy this wonderful resort again.

Amazing stay as always. From the big buffet breakfast to amazing dinners with spectacular views. Staff went out of their way to provide top service at every meal. The room and view of Elia beach was brilliant. Views from the Jacuzzi on the balcony are stunning and a perfect place to forget the stresses of life and work. The staff here are all amazing and passionate about their work. A huge and special thanks to Mia (host of all meal services), Nicole and Dionisis. These three went above and beyond their job and always provided their beautiful and warm personalities everyday. A trip I’ll never forget. 5/5 stay for myself and partner.

6 stars out of 5 because there is no way to say anything else The most incredible staff Most incredible hotel Could not ask for a nicer hotel and location. I have traveled all over the world but this by far topped any hotel so far Wish we stayed longer but my mistake on that Drinks food service all top notch. Thank you to the entire staff but I want to point out 2 that stood out the most Maya and Dionisis you made our stay more enjoyable. Everytime we saw you at breakfast or later that evening at the bar you made us feel so good. Maya you were the greatest hostess we could have had. Thank you to all and look forward to next time Paul and lisa. 9336

Overall a decent stay. Picturesque surrounding which was very magical. There are some minor details that happened that you kind of expect should not happen in a place like this. -our room had leaking sink in bathroom that leaked into the bedroom overnight. We alerted the staff but they never fixed it during our stay. -you do have to pay a cost for airport shuttles which should also be included. One cost for private one cost for shared. Our return shuttle was 20 minutes delayed causing our trip to end stressfully with a rush to the airport. Service should be end to end and this was disappointing as the staff and management were extremely dismissive. -the pool vibe was very clubby which caused it to be pretty messy during the day with cups plates and napkins everywhere. You expect at a night club but not at a Mykonos pool. -room was nice and beautiful surrounding. But the bathroom mirrors were all see through glass mirrors meaning zero privacy in the bathroom. Totally understand the sexy sea view attempt but no one wants a toilet that has a see through door. -shuttles to town and beach are free and run decently often which was a plus. -free lounge chairs at beach and it’s right down the hill walk or shuttle if you don’t want to walk the hills. This was a plus and you can order drinks or food if you want. -Wi-Fi broadly sucks at the hotel so plan accordingly with your mobile service. Overall a decent hotel. There were some hiccups here with the room and some of the service that you kind of expect more from on this part of Mykonos, but broadly a nice place.

we have finally stayed at the Avaton this time after my wife (former travel agent still in consultancy ) had tried to persuade me several times before, without succeeding 😂. Few years back we stayed at Utopia ( same family Myconian Collection ) at that was way far better than Avaton. I have to say the team at Avaton is extremely nice and prompt, no complaints at all about them (except may be the sad uniform that they are forced to wear which makes them look like they are participating at the Greek version of “Squid game”). Another exception is the GM who often does not greet customers ( or may be he only does it for those ones he likes ) and the receptionists who are quite apathetic. In Avaton they have been adding more rooms and levels and now this place is really too big and not luxurious at all as they’re pretending it to be. Decoration of new rooms is cold and impersonal while existing rooms are now decorated with a mixture of accessories completely unrelated to each other and of questionable aesthetic performance. or at least in the Mistique Suites they have been showing us. Anyway may be this is what the ID considered as “glamour” in his perception. There is no kettle nor coffee or tea in the rooms and be aware they will charge for the still water you take out from the fridge which is exactly the same the leave in the room for free. In other words if you take a cold water out from the fridge and you replace it with the complimentary one they leave on your desk, you will still be charged, Isn’t this funny ?! ahahah The cleaning maintenance in the poolsides needs to be badly improved. Positive notes, towels are not lacking in the pool or in the rooms. Cleaning of the rooms is very well done and they also turn down bed at night Breakfast is well furnished and team also here is very attentive and efficient. 💯 BTW please don’t call it “Champagne Breakfast” as you can find only a Prosecco sparkling wine…. For our experience Avaton is probably not the best choice among the various options of the Mykonian Collection and of course other amazing hotels on the island

We booked a higher category suite with a hot tub so the room was certainly large and had a lot of space. The hotel and grounds were well maintained and service was overall good. Rooms had nice amenities, decent design and housekeeping was ok. Hotel has a really nice pool, but we came here to spend days on the public side of Elia beach to be honest. Breakfast offering was great and well maintained. If you want to go to town, there is a great shuttle bus service that actually makes up for paying a taxi and takes very similar town so you can go downtown without a hassle as if you have been to Mykonos, you know that getting anywhere in a taxi is always a hassle. Breakfast service could have been more attentive, but otherwise we would love to come back next Year.

Unfulfilled Potential: A Mixed Experience at Myconian Avaton

At the Myconian Avaton hotel, sophistication shines through in its carefully designed common areas. However, my stay was marked by several concerning issues. The dim room and bathroom lighting posed challenges, compounded by the perplexing police-style glass mirror design that prevented viewing oneself on the bathroom side. Adding to the inconvenience, a bathroom window directed towards the common hallway disrupted sleep to the point that we had to hang a towel over it to achieve a decent night's rest. Regarding facilities and service, a clear disparity was evident. While some staff demonstrated commendable dedication, others merely met the minimum expectations. Ordering food and drinks by the pool necessitated multiple trips to locate staff, and service at Elia Beach was often elusive, with staff seemingly preoccupied and disinterested, hiding away in their staff room. Promised amenities failed to materialize. Frequent shuttle service to Mykonos town was advertised but only ran every two hours. Additionally, the touted refreshments like ice tea, fruit assortments, and poolside refreshing towels were nowhere to be seen. Adding to my disappointment were basic issues that went unaddressed. Tissues ran out and weren't replaced, and although dirty spoons and cups in the room were cleared, they were never replaced, even over the course of multiple days and after numerous phone calls. What struck me most was the expectation placed on guests to actively navigate between departments for assistance. I vividly recall being told over the phone that the issue wasn't within their department's purview and that I needed to call another number. This was truly unexpected in a luxury resort. While this hotel certainly has the potential to be a great one, constant minor issues overshadowed the overall experience. The hotel's management would greatly benefit from examining the service standards of other top-tier international establishments.

Pros: -Nice view. On top of the hill. -Infinity hotel pool with DJs and house music starting after lunch. Some rooms have private pool. -it’s a design hotel; It’s got new, clean, modern updated fun decor that has an upscale feel -Not directly on beach but it has a private beach (get there before lunch or after 3pm to get sun beds). -Fairly great value (minus taxi ride which is discussed below), when compared to other hotels of same level in Mykonos. Cons: -Left my glasses in the hotel room while I went out, and they are nowhere to be found (someone must really like then although they’re not the fancy designer kind!). I would say in general, be very mindful of your belongings in Mykonos. I have lost another item before on a different beach !! I’ve traveled to Europe many times and never lost anything. However, this is a very popular destination with wealthy tourists. It’s safe but beware of petty crimes. -Some of the private pools are not saltwater and they have a strong chlorine smell. Ask for saltwater if that’s important for you. -Location is not directly on the beach. It’s on top of the hill above the beach. They have a shuttle that takes you down to the beach. It’s about a 5-10 min ride, but you have to wait with the group. -The Elia beach is more remote and away from all the actions. You need a taxi to go to town or other places on the island. It’s about 40 euro one way and takes 20-30mins. The hotel can call you a taxi, or you can order one via Uber or the IMove app (the local version of Uber). The hotel also has a free shuttle that takes you to Mykonos Town (It is about a 45min ride and it runs every 1-2 hours and requires transfer at a sister hotel). They pick up passengers from other sister properties. Something to consider if you want to have a central location. --It’s a big hotel and takes some time to walk from your room to breakfast/lobby. It’s got 7 floors and due to the layout, you have to change elevator multiple times depending on where your room is. - Depending on where your room is, it can be loud from the music in the pool. - Some rooms are at the end of the hallway, right next to the open/barren hills (i’d put a gate or a wall for safety reason. It doesn’t appear that the hotel is in a gated enclosure). -Some staff are very friendly and accommodating while some can be defensive/condescending if you have a request or question. Tips: -People dress up at this hotel (and in Mykonos in general) so you may want to bring your better resort / beachwear. Show less
