Our check-in late evening moments with the valet, bell staff, and the front desk were welcoming and bonding. The front desk manager was very experienced, and he spent time orienting us. We never made it to the early morning coffee starting at 5:30 AM on the deck, but we knew we should have for the unique sunrise moments looking out to the water with marine mammals and birds to start our day.
Our very large suite with waiting MPH brand wine and food was so special! The windows all around and porches allowed us to take many photos and enjoy the views. The beauty, nature, and luxury restored and inspired us.
The Housekeeping Department staff with their attention to details met all our needs.
We ate in the hotel restaurants except for a delicious lunch at the Monterey Aquarium. It was so nice to easily go to the various locations and find gourmet food. All the servers were from the area, and shared information with us.
At one of the restaurants we met two other guest couples from Napa, California. We traded contact information, and I hope to visit with them again either in Napa or Monterey.
We went and returned in the hotel van for our field trip to the Monterey Aquarium. We have been several times before, but we saw new exhibits, received more long life education, and made new friends. We even met the Assistant Director to Julie Packard who told us interesting stories from his knowledge and experience over the many years.
Please give my regards especially to the two Matthews who took time to chat with me. Both were excellent guest conversationalists.
My husband and I have been to Monterey and Carmel many times, but this trip was unique and designed differently by hotel leaders guiding us from our initial reservation. We will always remember our guest moments!
We will return to be guests again at the Monterey Plaza Hotel!

The staff were courteous and helpful. Rooms were fantastic and clean. Restaurant and the atmosphere was so nice and my wife really enjoyed it. The views were awesome, the ocean soothing and just helped you relax. Will definitely return and my wife will use the spa.

Read your receipt thoroughly as we made that mistake. Expect to pay $100 for one dish, beer, and a juice.
We always tip the worker who brings the food up to the room, and we know we are paying for the service of having it delivered to our room.
However $100 for one dish and some drinks seems excessive.
Lesson learned and mistake on our part.

I had an exceptional stay at the Monterey Plaza Hotel! My room featured a pleasant city and partial sea view. The true highlight was the rooftop gym and spa, where the facilities were top-notch, and the outdoor jacuzzi offered a stunning view of the bay—absolute bliss. Dining at the hotel's restaurants, including Schooners Coastal Kitchen and Bar, was a culinary delight with superb service to match. Each meal was expertly prepared, and the ambiance was perfect for a relaxing evening. The lobby happy hour with its live band created a lively and inviting atmosphere. Although the valet parking was somewhat expensive, it was a minor detail compared to the overall exemplary experience. This hotel is definitely worth a good choice for its luxury, service, and facilities!

Having never been to Monterey, we did enough research to know this was a nice hotel in a nice location. Wrong. It is a GREAT hotel in a GREAT location. Perched literally on the bay at the end of Cannery row and a short ride to Fisherman’s Village, this is exactly where you want to be. Starting with Trevor at Valet, Summer at Concierge and every single staff member from check in to bar to restaurant, was very outgoing, friendly & professional. Our king room faced the bay and the waves soothed us to sleep and were great to wake up to. Food in the restaurant was fantastic (crab eggs Benedict, salmon and short rib pasta bolognese). Easy starting point for a trip through 17 mile drive and Big Sur. 100% would stay here on next visit!
