We stayed at Melia punta cana for 9 nights feb/mar our concierge oliver was great he booked our restaurant, arranged for us to have late checkout, it was my birthday while we was their he decorated our room with balloons and arranged for birthday cake at the restaurant ,we would also like to thank Daniel, all the staff were fantastic, we upgraded to level and in our options it was worth ever penny, our room.0706 was keep spotless our entire stay ,the amazing servers on the beach especially the lady ,moses at the level beach bar was great I even saw him checking wriste bands ,I had previously noticed the other bar tender serving non level guests, I also noticed people on the beds that were not level,I did see level write bands not the same as ours ,so I think they may have been from caribe ,I think it would be a good idea for level guests to have a different towels colour all in all we had a great stay and would return, the only thing we was disappointed with the sellers from melia paradiso, trying to sell you holiday ,we had just come back from our massage and was thinking of booking another When,we thought we was talking to a concierge and we was asking if their were any special offers ,he said yes you. Can have another massage free ,then it turned out to be sighing up to melia for 3 years ,to be honest we did think about doing it until they started telling us lies

Writing this review as we travel home from two weeks in this resort. The communal areas and garden landscaping are beautiful and incredibly well cared for. The only down side in the garden areas is that in the middle section of the resort, there’s a swamp which is quite smelly. You can’t smell it at the rooms, but if you walk from reception to the pool (a 10min walk), it’s very noticeable. We originally booked the entry 5* all inclusive package. When we arrived at our room, it was clear it was in need of a redecoration and in places, was not that clean! Even more disappointing was that right behind us was an electric transformer on a site that borders the resort. It made a constant loud buzzing noise and made sitting on our balcony unpleasant- not all what you’d expect for a relaxing break. On this point many of the rooms faced this transformer or other noisy aircon units or the back of a building with their aircon/extraction going on 24/7. Not pleasant for a quiet time on your balcony with an early morning coffee or a relaxing drink before dinner. The drinks were terrible in the standard all inclusive deal and so to get the holiday we’d wanted to experience, we paid an extra £150 per night to upgrade to the level. That way we’d get premium drinks, access to an additional restaurant called the Quimera, and padded sunbed seats. Oh and a personal concierge who would book restaurants etc for us. Our concierge was Wellington. He was a lovey guy but inconsistent. Said he’d booked us a table but we’d get to the restaurant and fine we weren’t booked. They’d squeeze us in but not at the time we’d booked. Not worth the money at all and I would rather not have had one. The Quimera restaurant, which was supposed to be the best, was fine for breakfast and lunch, but dinner was very poor. The service was slow and food was inconsistent and sometimes inedible. The Mooi Vietnamese restaurant was by far the best and so we tried to eat there as often as we could. Shout out to Gerado and the staff there who were very attentive and welcoming. The sunbed issue around the pool was aggressive. If you weren’t out by 5am, you were lucky to find a space at all. People would get up at 5, put towels out and go back to bed. It was shockingly bad here. Worst I’ve ever seen it! The pool was lovely, although in the two weeks we were there, the water level had dropped and there was a green rim where the water level had been with no one cleaning it off! The staff for the most part are really lovely. A particular shout out to Anjolo our Level bar man and Sebastian in the level buffet breakfast. The spa was wonderful but we only went for our complementary 30 min massage as it was very expensive! The staff work very hard and so I’m not sure what’s not working. They definitely need more staff at meal times and better quality and choice of food. They also need to replenish stock of drinks and food. They were always ‘out’ of something! The level was very expensive for what you get. For us, we only really got the advantage of premium drinks and a better room. Many of the level rooms are situated in areas with noisy aircon units or generators so it’s hit or miss whether you get a good room or not. All in all, beautiful landscaping, lovely staff but poor food and lots needed to improve the value for money. We stayed in the Excellence Punt Cana twice before COVID lockdown and we were perhaps spoiled there (it was excellent), but Melia could take a look at what Excellence has got right and build on that.

The rooms are in dire need of a total refurbishment, we stayed in room 0610 which is apparently a 'superior room', all the furniture is very worn out, the bathroom had a loose toilet cistern, broken paper holder, tile grouting and painting that appears to have been applied by a child, it’s that bad! The room cleaning was patchy at best, one day we were left with no bath towels, and the mini bar was not refilled, a call to reception did remedy the situation, but it should not happen in the first place. The electrics are not of a good standard, light switches that appear to do nothing, sockets that are not flush to the wall. The three ala carte restaurants were a huge disappointment, firstly the lack of physical menus is awful, I do not want to QR code a menu!! I was especially looking forward to the Vietnamese restaurant, but the food served was completely bland, zero spices, or flavour, just dumbed down boring hotel tourist type food, a real opportunity missed, the Italian desperately needs a proper pizza oven, as the pizzas served were gross. The Tropical Beach restaurant again suffered from flavour blandness. In fact the only saving grace was the buffet restaurant which was on the whole pretty good, and did try to offer variety and the odd local DR food, this restaurant became our go-to due to the poor standard of the ala carte offerings General service from staff was patchy at best, I think that they take the Caribbean laid back attitude to the extreme, serving staff appear more interested in talking between themselves rather than dealing with customers, getting your wine topped up became a major challenge every meal, it really should not be like that, better training would improve this.... management take note! During our stay we had a couple of quite major security concerns, the first was that one of our door swipe card stopped working, we took the card to reception, they asked for our room number and promptly swapped the key without first asking my name, so basically I could have got access to any room I fancied!! The other issue was when we checked out and gave our bags to reception for safe keeping until our departure, as expected we were given a receipt for the bags, but on return the receptionist showed no interest in the receipt, and just asked us to find our bag amongst all the others stored, again really just an opportunity to steal others property. On a positive note the hotel grounds are beautiful, the beach is stunning, the evening entertainment is better than expected, the Michael Jackson tribute was an unexpected highlight, and of course the sun shined Overall very disappointed, god knows how there are so many positive reviews for this hotel.... totally baffled by this.

A wonderful week at the Melia Adult Wellness Resort , the food was good and the beach was very nice and kept very clean. There was not much seaweed on the beach or in the water. The staff are friendly and always willing to help make your vacation the best ever. The nightly entertainment was good and offered something for everyone over the week we were there. The resort grounds are looked after very nicely and being so spread out , the walking was not an issue for us as we like to walk , the shuttles ran every 12 minutes to drop guests off around the site. We did the bike tour and I recommend that as it takes you around the 4 resorts that encompass the area. We also did the spa and I highly recommend this as well. It was amazing !!!!! Our only issues were the pools were not kept very clean and when we got there it looked like the filters were not in operation so the pool levels were very low and it needs to be addressed as we have stayed at Secrets just down from this resort and there pools are much cleaner and better. We decided swimming at the beach was a better option as the pool vibes was not great. I also think the bedding could have been much better , the pillows smelled musty and the sheets always seemed damp and not soft or comfy. The bed was comfortable though and our room was clean and in good location , building number 10. The last little issue is the magnetic key cards never seemed to work properly so you are always having to go get new keys for your room. Special shout out to one of the assistant managers Pablo who was very good to chat with about the resort and Albana at the Quimera restaurant who got us our coffees every morning.

Hotel is beautiful and spotless, the grounds are kept immaculate and the staff are very friendly. The food is very good in all restaurants. However, my only complaint is the sunbed situation. Beds are reserved at first light so unless you want to set your alarm you won’t get a chair by the pool. I have no issue with people doing this if they actually use the beds. For 3 days running there were 4 beds with towels on them when we arrived at 7.30am. We left the pool at 4pm and no one had sat on them all day. I queried it with staff at the Level who said unattended beds could be saved for 1 hour 20 mins before towels would be removed. This is clearly not implemented and if I’d have know I definitely would not have chosen this hotel, which would be a shame as it’s the only problem here. If this problem was addressed the hotel would be perfect.

We had an amazing stay at the Meliá Punta Cana Beach resort, and a huge part of that was thanks to Jenfry, our concierge. He was incredible friendly, helpful, and always went the extra mile to make our holiday special. He took care of all of our à la carte restaurant reservations seamlessly and kept us informed about the daily activities, so we never missed out on anything fun. On top of that, the spa at the resort was incredible - so relaxing and well worth a visit! It was the perfect way to unwind and added an extra touch of luxury to our trip. Thank you, Jenfry, and the entire team at the Meliá Punta Cana! Highly recommend this resort for a fantastic getaway.

Amazing place! The food was great - healthy and good variety. The gardens are huge and well maintained, very beautiful just like the beach and the pools. The rooms are cleaned daily and are also great. There are many activities that you can do every day - drawing classes, dancing classes, tasting sessions and many others. The spa is very good too and I would recommend it. The people working there were really kind and helping us with everything - Patrick and Ruth from guest services organized a special surprise for me and my partner for our anniversary with balloons, all sorts of decorations, wine and cake and she really loved it! Joel from the reception was really nice and friendly and helped us with all questions we had. And Adolfo from the bar... really fun guy, we really enjoyed the evenings there. Overall, everything with this place was amazing and I would fully recommend it!

We just returned from a week of wellness and pampering!! We stayed as Level Guests and were lucky to have Oliver as our concierge! He spoke excellent English, was kind, helpful and was able to make whatever we needed happen! He got us all of our dinner reservations at our requested time with no hassle. When we would message him he was quick to reply! Thank you Oliver for making our week so seamless ❤️ Our room was perfect! Clean, cool and a comfortable bed and pillows. Every meal was delicious! I personally enjoyed the “wellness” options. The pool was relaxing, the beach was clean and we had no issue with getting chairs at the pool or beach. We did not get up early to reserve them either. The grounds are immaculate. We used the spa each day for hydrotherapy and I had the best massage ever!!! Like the best!! I have no hesitation in returning to this resort! My only suggestion would be to expand the gym and have more free weights. The rooftop bar had beautiful views, nice ocean breeze, beautiful furniture and the bartenders made excellent drinks! One night there was a saxophone player and that was excellent! I would suggest live music there every night!! Such a great space to utilize!

From a NON LEVEL GUEST PROS 1. The grounds and beach are very well maintained. Everywhere you look is beautiful and the grounds crew work very hard. 2. There are lots of daily activities to participate in—yoga, bike riding, aqua fit, candle making, painting, chocolate sampling, dance lessons to name a few. The activity crew was very energetic and engaging. Most activities were only about half an hour. (Although the bike ride was more like an hour—but we enjoyed it!) The activities made our experience better! We also had fun at the night activities—a Michael Jackson show, retro show and silent disco. All very fun. 3. We enjoyed the variety of foods. The buffets at dinner and lunch were on a rotation so there were many options. We enjoyed the freshly made tacos and stir fry at lunch time. Also the ice cream at lunch was a treat. CONS 1. The rooms are dated. Ours was clean and spacious and didn’t have much a view. But we were typically outside and enjoying nature. 2. There aren’t very many restaurants. We went to the Vietnamese and Mediterranean restaurants. They were decent. The buffet also rotates so it’s not the same every night. We didn’t mind eating at the buffet. It let our day have more flexibility and it offered a variety of foods. 3. Pool chairs. It was hard to find chairs around the pool. Many guests wake up early (like 5:30 am) to reserve seats. And in our experience many chairs sat reserved all day long instead of people actually using them. TIPS 1. I found the best drinks were at the LOBBY BAR. Different bars also had unique drinks which was fun. Our favourite was a Banana Mama. They also offer a different daily wellness drink. 2. Best coffee was at the juice bar outside the dinner buffet. Freshly brewed coffee every time. 3. It is a bit of a distance from the lobby to the beach. They offer transportation and often we would walk. We were also lucky because we were at villa 6 which was in the middle of the resort. 4. Some activities had limited spots (i.e., biking, candle making, painting). Arrive a few minutes before things start to make sure you get a spot. Overall, we had a great experience. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The weather was incredible.

Melia Punta Cana Beach 3* Stayed in a Level room for a week at the end of February Resort is in a great location on a beautiful stretch of beach with nice walks in both directions and very calm water. Room was very basic, tired furniture painted over many times, huge gaps around the door – previous posts mentioned cockroaches, we only found one dead one outside the room, but stuffed the gaps with towels as a precaution. Bathroom fixtures loose so no temperature control. Housekeeping kept the room clean, turndown service happened 4 out of 7 nights. No hot water for one of our nights. Food was a major disappointment – breakfast at the level arrived stone cold both times we tried it; never a fan of buffet so lunch was usually a sandwich from the coffee shop or the level self serve. Dinner was generally a fiasco – fish is my go to dish in the Caribbean and here it was either overcooked, or under cooked. Might be the first all inclusive where we have gone home hungry. The gym is tiny for a resort this size with very little equipment, most of which was occupied when we showed up. In fact this was a theme everywhere as all the shady spots on the beach or around the pool were gone by 7am. There is nothing relaxing about getting up at the crack of dawn to secure a seat. As for Level, save your money, drinks were all no name, the level areas are not that well defined and no one is checking anyway, no guarantee you will find a seat in the level area. The lobby bar was serving cocktails in paper cups! This was our third time in Punta Cana in the last 4 years, this resort was the most expensive but not in the same league as the others with poor food , tired rooms and the shortage of seating.

Beautiful resort, so glad we picked Meliá. Everything was almost perfect. The grounds were impeccable. The beach, fantastic. Only a couple of things I can criticize. First, didn't care for the buffets. I question how fresh the food is. The restaurants were very good. My wife got sick later that evening after a restaurant, not sure if that was the cause. Second, their beer selection is VERY limited. They have only 2 bottled beers. Stella and Corona. And, there charge extra for those!! For Level guest, they say premium drinks are included. I would have thought that falls under premium drinks. C'mon Meliá, we paid extra for Level. Other than that, very happy. The servers are friendly and our concierge Gilberto was prompt and great. Definitely going back here!

It had been awhile - 14 years, in fact - since just the two of us ventured in search of tropical paradise. With the last of the 3 boys out of college it was time. We researched extensively before settling on Punta Cana in general, and the Melia Punta Cana Beach (adults only). We couldn't be happier with that decision. The location is spectacular, on a corner of the island with gentle surf and stunning aquamarine waters. There were a few weeds as the tides went in/out, but nothing significant. The DR has done a great job of keeping structures far enough away from the water, unlike in, say, Florida. The resort itself is beautiful, and we were always impressed that there were staff constantly maintaining everything - trimming trees up high, touching up paint, general cleaning, everything. The staff were unfailingly kind, attentive and polite - and patient with us as non-Spanish speakers. The best decision we made, and did it after booking, was to upgrade to a Level Suite. This got us premium liquor, exclusive areas at the beach and pool, a room closer to the water, a private breakfast spot and rooftop bar. But it came with the most important thing of all - a team of two concierges to help with anything and everything. Ours were named Juan Adbrincoles and Jose Minaya. After meeting as the bell stand and driving us to the room in cart, they set up a WhatsApp text group that became our means of communicating. They helped with everything - confirming our golf time and transportation, booking restaurants, answering random questions and more. At one point I had taking our room key into the ocean one too many times and it didn't work. I texted and Juan was there in (I timed it) 6 minutes with new keys. Everyone at this place is working hard, all the time. Food was very good overall - the Vietnamese was our favorite. And we really liked ending our night at the rooftop bar. Put this resort on your list. We're going back, which we almost never do.

Nice surroundings, but improvements are needed. The Cons: Firstly, some of the staff need to smile more and be more welcoming. The maid should not be knocking on the door at 8 AM—guests may still be sleeping. Nice pleasant maid though, so credit where it’s due The night time manager didn’t seem too bothered about my cockroach issue, sent me on a wild goose chase for an hour one evening after reporting the issue at 23:00. Very un professional. The rooms require regular fumigation for cockroaches, as I experienced an infestation during my stay. Mosquitoes are also a major issue, and a smoke device at certain times could help control them. Breakfast times are chaotic when it comes to getting coffee cups. A simple solution would be to set the tables with cups beforehand, as I had to go fetch mine repeatedly. The beach and main pool area needs more loungers and seating, as there aren’t enough for a hotel of this size. Lastly, your timeshare representatives should stop offering free spa sessions if they’re not going to follow through—I never received mine. I don’t know why some guests on certain social media platforms are so paranoid about TIPs. I myself did not tip so much as I didn’t feel I got the right service. Just a simple dollar tip to the staff who did stand out is all you need to tip! This is just a brief summary of the resort. It’s still a nice place to stay and relax if you take away the things above. The Positives: Very large complex with a lovely garden setting Relaxing beach, don’t let the sellers put you off, a simple no and they do understand. I did buy a few trips on the beach which was well worth the haggle Regular cart service to take you from main foyer to beach. This does run 24 hours Good food in all the restaurants Lovely drinks in the main bar with some nice light entertainment . Regards Room 1901

For context, we did stay in the Level Nature suite by Stay Well. This resort is absolutely fabulous for an AI wellness resort in a wonderful location with amazing year round weather and fantastic people. Peaceful if you want it to be and as wild as you want to venture off into one of their other resorts, I think there is a casino somewhere on the grounds? We wanted the peaceful side of it and you can get it in a big resort that feels very, very small in the Level. Everything you read is true - the grounds, the rooms, the booze, Muoi, buffets, staff, activities, pool, beach, chairs, extra costs, slow service (just let go already you are on vacation) etc. TripAdvisor has nailed it. Please go and enjoy it and please, please go to the YHI Spa: this is undoubtedly the finest spa at an AI we have ever encountered. I would say it rivals any spa we have been to in the world for the value and included amenities: it is open all day, every day. You can just walk in and take a steam or a hot tub soak, dry sauna, quiet outdoor pool with shade, swan necks blasting into the indoor warm water pool, full locker room facilities with showers, snacks, drinks, the whole thing. All included, no treatment booking needed. It’s unreal for an all inclusive and I didn’t even touch on the actual buildings architecture which is breathtaking when you realize what you are standing in. TIPPING: We messed up and brought 2 100$ bills for whoever our concierge was. If you read on, that didn’t work out so I didn’t anticipate breaking those up but even breaking a 20 or 50 into smaller USD or DOP is impossible without leaving the resort. I tried to get anything out of a machine by the store and it didn’t work - they do tell you there is no ATM or bill breaker on site. We messed up. Tipping culture is FIRECE here and we had the unfortunate experience of having enough to tip well when we arrived and ran out of cash and the whole experience changed. Total 180. We are coming back to right those wrongs and cannot wait to see everyone! Bring double what you were planning to tip and bring it home if you don’t want to leave it there. Bring many small bills only. Running out sucked big time. CONCIERGE: it pains me to name drop in an anon TripAdvisor but Wellington - I gotta say if you get this guy as your concierge dude, don’t even bother. We saw him when we arrived and not one time thereafter. We became more friendly with other peoples concierge because they were always greeting us, no Wellington. Which is fine too, tbh, we didn’t need butler service. We were given it and we contacted him on WhatsApp to ask him a simple request and he said to call the main desk. When I asked why call the main desk, isn’t that your thing? He told me he wasn’t at the resort. Come on, at least lie to me LOL. There is a bunch more over 6 days but all around weak sauce. By the end of the trip and we were out of cash to tip EVERYONE by this point, he left our bags in the room on checkout because *shocker* he was not at the resort. I had to jam it back from the main lobby and thankfully the key card still worked and there was the bag. My dude Aldo and the #1 train engineer on the island got me back and forth with the bag and I was out of cash to hook him up too. We are coming back in Aug Aldo, wrongs will be righted!!!!

This was a birthday trip for me and Juan helped us celebrate from beginning to end. He made our reservations for dinner and planned special birthday decorations and celebrations during our stay. We will definitely be back to this resort!

We paid for beachfront, and ended up in the middle of the property somehow. This is not a five star property and we stayed in room 1111.

We will return to this resort for our 4th visit!
Fantastic vacation! The butler/concierge was a fantastic bonus. Be sure to ask for Daniel M. ! Everyone was wonderful at this resort. I neglected to mention in a previous review how nice Daury in the Disco is! Honestly, everyone in ALL of the bars/restaurants/coffee bars (Melia Adults Only) were wonderful!

I had the best of both worlds spending 2 nights alone then joined by my husband and friends later in the week. When solo, I felt safe and welcomed, with my concierge, Gilberto, checking in throughout the day to ensure my/our stay was perfect. I started each morning with a 2 mile walk through the immaculate grounds, grabbing a green juice at the hotel lobby. Like other reviews mention, if you want prime beach/pool spots, definitely get up early and set up your chairs. Security was always circling so belongings were always safe. Chairs become available throughout the day so not necessary for folks who are not picky! I preferred breakfast at the buffet which was plentiful with cook to order options as well as prepared stations. Fruit and veggies always fresh and varied - even with a make your own smoothie booth. For dinner, I attended 2 evening events - taco night at the beach then Dominican night at the buffet. Both featured live music and great food! At restaurants, some portions were small, but you can order as many plates as you like so no issues from our group. The pool area is much quieter than other resorts with limited entertainment. This was perfect for me as I was looking for R&R, if you’re looking for pool parties, this isn’t the spot! The beach was beautiful with a constant breeze, the sun is strong so be sure to pack lots of sunscreen as it’s very expensive in gift shop. I am usually someone who likes to try different resorts every-time I travel, but I think I found an annual home at Melia Wellness. It was the perfect relaxing reset I was craving with a lot of thanks to Gilberto and the wonderful staff.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Melia Punta Cana Beach. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Food at the restaurants was excellent with very pleasant and helpful servers. The beach is beautiful, although the music from the nearby tour boats was somewhat distracting at times. Enjoyed taking part in the various activities particularly the yoga sessions. Spa was very relaxing. Lastly, can't say enough about our concierge Daniel from the Level Experience. He responded to our questions immediately, made sure everything was taken care of (including providing us with a bottle of champagne for my birthday), made our spa and restaurant reservations, took us on a personal tour of the premises and located my cellphone which was taken by security when left by the pool. We hope to come back soon.
