The hotel and staff were good. The Fire and Ice Restaurant plays rap music so loud out doors from 2-9 pm on the week ends at such high decimals you cannot hear your tv or your own music in your room. It is soo bad, I called to see if anything could be done and was told I would just have to ride it out! I have never stayed at a resort that sounds like the inside of a rap bar that hurts your ears and the windows vibrate. I think this Hotel should have more respect and consideration for all ages of your guests. Families walking around with little children and some of the words in this music is totally unacceptable for any age. Management should be monitoring this with their D J’s. Has really put a damper on my first visit here!

We enjoyed a week at the Marriott vacations resort in Lake Tahoe. It was a very pristine and up-to-date hotel located very near the lake and convenient to most shopping centers we needed. Our unit was newly remodeled so we had the latest appliances and enough outlets for our electronic devices. I especially love the oven as it had an option for pizzas and air fryer cooking. My only disappointment in the kitchen was that a blender had to be requested and they did not have an electric mixer available. Since I had an injured rotator cuff, it made mixing anything very difficult.
Overall, there was great lighting, except for the dining area. The light there was rather dim. I loved that they had a fireplace which was easy to use, and the Bathroom, had a Jacuzzi tub, which, if we were younger, would’ve been fun to have used, but due to our age limitations it would’ve been rather difficult. There were two TVs one in the living room and one in the bedroom. Netflix and prime video or options on both if you had an account, and there were a variety of channels available. The heating and air-conditioning was rather hard to regulate. When it was an auto and you tried to regulate the temperature it would heat the temperature and then it returned to cool. It would either be too hot or too cold. Also, the tub was rather hard to get in and out of for us boomers. The water was great. We were even told it was safe to drink as it comes from the mountains nearby. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Parking was valet only and the charge was $35. The inconvenience there is that we did not always have access to our vehicle right away. You had to request your car and wait 10 or 15 minutes before it was delivered. On the upside, we knew it was in a safe location the whole time we were there. Since there was a Village shopping center within the resort, there was not much of a need to go out other than when we drove around the lake or general sightseeing.
All our unit was pleasant and we would recommend Marriott timber Lodge as a place to stay.

Good hotel , fantastic if not for the parking
Look this a great hotel , room were big and super clean , staff were friendly and the location couldn’t be better .
Pool looked awesome, but we didn’t use , lovely lobby , the only thing that lets it down is the parking . To expensive and not practical.
Not Worth the Price! Stay Elsewhere...

After staying with friends at the other Marriott in town a couple months prior and loving it, I decided to book a few days here with my husband for a romantic anniversary trip. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with our stay at Mariott's Timber Lodge. We paid for half the trip in credit card points, half in cash, but even with that discount, this hotel does NOT offer value for the money.
From the moment we drove up, the valets were walking right past us without even looking at us. My husband had to exit the car and flag down a valet who was standing not even 10 feet away but refused to notice us. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful, but the good service started and ended there. We were made aware of construction on the hotel prior to booking, but not until we arrived were we informed that we had to keep our windows and curtains closed for half our stay "to maintain our privacy" because drones were going to be inspecting and taking photos of the outside of the building and the roof. No fresh air or view for us...
As we were pushing our full luggage cart up the ramp to get to the elevators, the "concierge" (more like a used car salesman) was screaming at us to come to his desk to sell us tickets to something. The "concierge" proceeded to call us the following morning for more hard sell (waking my husband up), followed by repeated spam text messages throughout our stay.
The soaking tub in the bedroom was rickety (it made creaking noises when my average-sized husband sat down on the edge) and filthy (noticeable hairs and smudges on the bottom of the tub). The towels smelled bad. The toilet seat was both too small for the toilet and was installed crooked. And the toilet itself was oddly very low to the ground.
When we called down for more towels we were told that would be an extra charge, or that we could wash our dirty towels ourselves in the room. And that laundry detergent was included, but not dryer sheets. After we washed the towels ourselves, we noticed they smelled nice and fresh. I'm sorry but when you're spending about the same amount as a mortgage payment on a 4-night stay at a hotel, fresh CLEAN towels should be bare minimum of what's included and additional CLEAN towels shouldd be provided upon request.
The bed was hard as a rock and yet also somehow unsupportive when shifting positions while you sleep. If your partner moves in the slightest, you will feel it and it will wake you up. Pillows were a weird half-size and extremely squishy and unsupportive. We both slept terribly.
The thermostat had a mind of its own and refused to stay on overnight. And since we couldn't open the windows because of the drones, the room got quite stuffy and overly warm.
The valets are dismissive, unhelpful...and TWICE (two different people) smelled so bad that we had to air out the car after they brought it around. I think they were passing gas in our car. We can't be sure, but it was disgusting.
The hotel is conveniently located, and the front desk staff is very nice and helpful. Unfortunately that's the only good I have to say about this place and we will never stay here again.

Parking, checking in, or getting your car for a day trip is pretty much a mess. Some restaurants and bars were right in the village next to the Marriot.
We were surprised, and this is because we did not do the research to see any part of the lake; you have to drive; it is not within walking distance. I know it was late August, but I had stop-and-go traffic for 50 miles took over an hour and 1/2.

Wonderful Time as Always!
Very nice experience. Will definitely be back! The location is fantastic with a fun restaurant attached called the "Fire + Ice". Great fun! We like it best in the Fall when we can see the spawning salmon going up the creek and hiking along the scenic trail.

What a pleasure to write this review. As a Disney Vacation Club member for over 3 decades, I exchanged vacation club points to use at Timber Lodge. The property is undergoing renovations to the rooms and I was lucky enough to have a refurbished room that overlooked the mountain. The work on the property promptly ended at 5:00 PM and was not an issue during our stay. I called the front desk prior to arrival, to assist me with questions about the property and to make a room location request, and I was very pleased with the assistance of the person I spoke with and the amount of information she provided. This property is in a great location to explore Lake Tahoe and the village, and other areas within walking distance, made the stay even more enjoyable. Fire & Ice should be enjoyed at least once during your stay. Though the gondola was not operational during our stay the access to miles of hiking trails just out back of Timber Lodge is an activity that should not be missed. Absolutely incredible views less than an hour hike from the bottom. Valet service was incredibly impressive and reliable. I never waited more than 5 minutes for my vehicle. Every member of the staff that we interacted with was pleasant and helpful. The only caveats would be some of the room locations (like those right on the street and near the entrance) I would avoid and the new furniture in the living room does not fit the room and is a bit awkward for the space. Also, the pool chairs in the summer fill up quickly, so keep that in mind when utilizing the pool. Though not quite up to Disney Vacation Club standards I was pleasantly surprised with this property and will plan another trip to Tahoe and definitely stay at Timber Lodge.

We scheduled a weekend getaway and then my partner was involved in an auto accident. They first wanted to charge me $99 to reschedule then additional fees depending on the dates I wanted to reschedule.
Rep on phone spoke broken english and then started getting visibly angry as we were talking. Some customer service rep. I will now block all emails and correspondence from MVC regarding any future discounts or vacation spots.
If this is the service one gets from this firm BEFORE the vacation, I can only imagine how awful the vacation experience is on site. Stay far, far away from this property and MVC.

My partner and I had three days available to ski/snowboard while in California on other business so we went to Tahoe. Timber Lodge is one of Mariott’s Vacation Properties, so it is not a traditional hotel (no room service, limited maid service, etc.).
We were in a one bedroom “villa” complete with a separate living/dining/kitchen space. There was a stackable washer and dryer in a kitchen closet, and in the living room there was a sleeper couch and TV. The bedroom had a king bed, closet, dresser and an in-room jacuzzi tub. The bathroom had a door from the bedroom and a door from the kitchen. All of the rooms of our villa were in excellent condition with the exception of some of the shades, which were stuck in the permanently down position (that being the best of the two choices)!
A couple things about the villa. First, I thought, based on its name, that it would be a stand alone cottage, but in reality it is simply a condo in a big building. That’s ok, and the room was very comfortable, but it’s not like you can drive your car anywhere near it. Also, our room was a fairly distant walk from the front desk, in a separate building, but we were very close to a door leading to the pool. We discovered a short cut, of sorts, by walking through the pool area when it was open instead of walking the long hallway with its twists and turns. Again, not a big deal for two healthy skiers, but anyone with mobility issues would want to double check with the hotel in advance about room location.
The property’s outdoor pool and hot tub are beautiful. Both are heated in winter — the hot tub to 102 and the pool felt warm to the touch, though we did not swim. The on site restaurant was fun and is popular with the local ski crowd. Plenty of other choices in walking distance. And did I mention that the Heavenly gondola is located directly out the door of the main lobby?! There is a free ski/board check out this door for hotel guests. Could not be easier to get to the trails. While not technically “ski in/ski out”, in all practicality it is.
We were extremely pleased with our stay here and would recommend it to anyone. As for the $35 valet parking? So what. Just pay it and move on. It’s unlimited ins/outs, and they have a fantastic automated system for requesting your car. We never had to wait.
5 stars!!

It’s within walking distance to everything you need in this area (restaurants, ski rental, shops, etc), so you won’t need a car. Inside the hotel, the facilities are excellent and the service is top notch. My favorite activity after skiing every day was sitting in any of the 4 large hot tubs with a drink. The pool was a great option too if I got too hot in the hot tub. My husband loved the gym, and if we had more time we would’ve attended some of the gym classes! This place is perfect for all ages- we saw lots of young families, and we were here just the 2 of us which worked great too. Location is about 1 hour 10 minutes from the Reno airport. Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The room came with a washer dryer, fireplace, full kitchen, full bathroom with double sinks, and a table that seats six. The staff is incredibly nice and the hotel room and hotel are kept clean. My only complaint is the bed and pillows. I found both to be a little uncomfortable. Other than that, it’s been a wonderful stay. The hotel is close to many shops and restaurants and within walkable distance to the casinos.

I have stayed at this property for several years and as a Marriott owner, I was extremely disappointed.
The main problem was the bed and pillows. The bed was so hard that I felt I was sleeping on a piece of wood. I basically was not able to sleep and decided to check out two days earlier due to exhaustion.
The pillows had no firmness to them and you could feel the hard mattress under your head. I literally had to sleep with four pillows for some support.
Also, if you are renting as a hotel, you get your room cleaned, if as an owner, you have to pay for a cleaning.
Such high hopes for a much needed vacation that fell short

The room was clean--small, but clean. We had to laugh at the hotel's sense of "la-di-da" in calling their room a "villa." But what really torqued us was the unannounced additional fee of $35 per night to park our car (an added $70 for the two nights we stayed). If the hotel is going to charge that, then add it onto the per-night price up front, BEFORE the reservations are made. The valet parking crew was friendly and competent, but you have to notify them 20-30 minutes in advance that you need access to your car. Makes it difficult to retrieve something you might have forgotten to take up to your room when checking in. We stayed on the fifth floor, and it took 275 paces each way to get over and back to the single ice machine. Hard on elderly legs. All-in-all, we would not stay at the Marriott Timber Lodge again. Too much hassle.

Our room was awful. Not up to typical Marriott standards at all. I don't know what is going on with the rooms but ours, a one bedroom, was sparsely furnished and uncomfortable. The very small sofa was uncomfortable with no pillows for your back. Only one chair and a small coffee table. If you were a party of more than 3, you'd be hard pressed to sit and watch TV together. TV's were small and there was no artwork. In the bedroom, there was nothing to put your suitcases on, so we used a console in the living room. Very strange, especially since families often will stay in a one bedroom. Not worth the price tag at all.
One thing to note: There is no nearby public access to the lake, unless you are willing to pay $25 per person. Other hotels provide passes for their guests but not the Marriott.
It is in a good location for a quick bite to eat. We recommend the BBQ place next door, call gunmetal or something like that.
I don't think we will be back, which is unfortunate, because we are longtime Marriott Loyalty members.
