Paradise is the only way to describe the experience of staying at this lovely hotel/resort on the wonderfully friendly island of Anguilla. It has a stunning location, perched on a cliff above two bays with what seems like a limitless horizon. Having stayed at other ground-level beach properties, there's something really special about having the loftier perspective. The sunsets were phenomenal.
My husband and I just returned from 7 delightful days here and wish we could have stayed even longer. For us, the size of the resort was perfect; not too big. but with plenty of space and activities. In addition to a nice beach set-up, the two pools high above the beach are gorgeous, and there's no jockeying for space, or having to "hold" chairs early in the day as we've found at other resorts. We had an oceanview premium room in the main building and it suited perfectly. Large and very comfortable with a huge terrace (and daybed for lounging) and big bathroom, with double sinks, soaking tub and large, separate shower. Housekeeping was excellent.
That brings me to a shout-out to the very special Malliouhana staff. Everyone (too many to name) was friendly, warm, knowledgeable and professional; always happy to share information, recommend places to visit, restaurants (and dishes to order!), answer questions or make suggestions about virtually anything on the island. Their commitment to their guests really stands out.
The spa is first-rate, with great treatments. We enjoyed some of the best massages we've ever had. The gym was clean and well-equipped, and there are various yoga and other classes available almost daily. Mead's Bay remains our favorite on the island and we walked the length of it (close to a mile) daily. As a bonus, there are several great restaurants along the beach, all walkable for lunch or dinner.
We had an opportunity to visit at least two other popular luxury properties during our week at Malliouhana and in both cases, were extra-glad of our choice -- the optimal combination of size (neither too large or too small), beauty, luxury and comfort. If you can't relax here, you probably can't relax anywhere. We look forward to a return next year.

Beautiful, quirky hotel with a bar that has the most sublime views. Fantastic pools and gardens and very friendly staff. We had a garden room but it had a beautiful view of the ocean. Very quiet, very large rooms. Our only slight gripe was that the food was a little cold - not sure how far away the kitchen is from the restaurants ...
Otherwise a gorgeous place to stay.

Our visit was like staying with family, including the hugs we got as we were leaving. (I can't think of another hotel i've stayed at where that happened) The staff and management were engaged and engaging and really were the highlight of the trip. It was great chatting with them about things big and small. They pay close attention to detail, such as new towels if you swim in the pool or beach, and the level of kindness was off the charts, Special dietary needs were accommodated. Housekeeping did an amazing job. Despite going to the beach almost every day, there was never sand in the room. An injury was responded to with concern and helpfulness.
We went for our anniversary and would go back again in a heartbeat. Thanks to the Malli staff for the best vacation

We spent eight amazing days at this resort. I cannot say enough great things about this small boutique luxury resort. I spent time last week at the Four Seasons and Cap Juluca, while they are both beautiful resorts, they are too large for my taste. Malliouhana felt empty at the busiest time of the year and sold out. If you want to relax, escape, and be spoiled, this is the place. The level of personal service was over the top. Our room right on the beach was huge, with incredible views. Please reach out to me for more information. - Chris Munyan

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Malliouhana Resort in early November. We stayed for 10 nights and can't say enough about the resort and staff. Davida and the front desk provided exceptional friendly service throughout our stay. The pool staff, the staff out front who retrieved our car and drove the golf cart, and the beach staff in front of Leon's were friendly and attentive. The rooms are large and the bed comfortable. We appreciated the large bathroom, two vanities and wonderful shower. The view and large balcony were so relaxing for morning coffee and sunset happy hour. Tne beaches at the resort are beautiful and snorkeling around the resort was interesting when it was calm enough. The location of the resort was excellent. There are a number of good restaurants and some within walking distance. In addition, it is only a short (less than 10 minute) drive to other beaches if the water is too rough at Mead's Bay. We visited both the Four Seasons and Cap Juluca, which are very nice, but we were happy we chose Malliouhana. We enjoyed meeting the management team at the cocktail reception. We are hoping for a return visit next November...anxiously waiting for the rates to be released. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

I want to start with saying the resort is GORGEOUS, the people are friendly, and our room was spectacular. My reason for 3 of 5 stars is service. For this price point I was expecting more. We had a beachfront room, when I booked I asked that they set up two chairs in front of the room instead of having to sit in front of Leons. At check in they assured me they would be set up, we didn't see them so walked down to the attendants and they did set up the chairs. The issue was that when we would leave at the end of the day, no one would come clean them up- so every morning we would collect our dirty towels walk them back along with the water and plastic ice container. Then have to ask EACH DAY for them to bring us the ice water, and we would make our own chairs up when we would grab fresh towels. At this price point, I would have thought after day 4 they would have done this- but we did the same routine for 8 days- no one anticipated it or knew our name. No one offered to do this for us, 5 star hotels would normally do things like that for their guests.
The other issue was my husband needed a doctor while we were there so I went to the front desk to ask- they said they would call my room with recommendations. After an hour and no phone call, I went and found it myself. No one ever called to check in on him. No one knew us by name, or went out of their way to ask if we needed anything. I asked for a late check out at 2pm, and the person on the phone acted like I asked for a free day? It was 2 hours- again- weird to me for a 5 star.
Maybe being in the houses on the beach gives a different experience, but we were a little disappointed. There were many positives and this did not ruin our trip AT ALL. We still loved the hotel ambiance, the drinks at the pool in the late afternoon, the beach was amazing, and the people are all very nice! Not sure for this price point I would return.
