Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana

Another fabulous trip!!! This was our 9th visit to Secrets Royal Beach, and it continues to exceed our expectations every single time. The buffet is fully stocked three times daily, offering fresh and varied global and local cuisines. Even the pickiest eaters will always find something delicious to enjoy. Our favourite specialty restaurants include Bluewater Grill for the crab cakes, wedge salad, and Chef’s Special. We also love El Patio, where we typically order the sausage appetizer, fajitas, and the pork tomahawk. Himitsu is another standout with an impressive selection of Asian dishes—not just Chinese, but a wonderful variety. Bordeaux and Olio round out the excellent dining options beautifully. We always stay Preferred and are lucky to always have Orlando as our personal concierge. His attention to detail, warmth, and professionalism consistently elevate our experience and make us feel truly cared for. My husband and I once swore we’d visit every Secrets resort—and we’ve visited many—but Secrets Royal Beach holds a very special place in our hearts. We keep coming back because the price is right, and the sun, sand, surf, service, beverages, and food are all fantastic in our opinion. We already look forward to visit number ten!

We went Christmas Eve for a week on a long overdue family trip. My kids are in college so we don't often get time together as a family. We really enjoyed our time at Secrets Royal Beach. I am not an all inclusive type, I don't love the business model, and I do not love the cruise ship style mentality of the offering. I will have to say I was pleasantly surprised by our experience at Secrets Royal Beach. We had been to the Royalton many years ago and aside from the hotel itself, the food and service was terrible at Royalton. At SRB, it was WAY better. The food was good, not fantastic. The buffet was clean, the breakfast was well done. I felt like the food was a bit recycled between the restaurants and there wasn't a ton of variety. It was the same stuff every night. The service though was really the highlight. The staff made my family like one of theirs. Everyone seemed so happy and eager to please. I hope it wasn't an act, but a few standouts were our butler Alberto who texted with us day and night to see what we needed, Dany who always looked for us and seemed to be our waiter no matter what restaurant we were at, and Julio another server who put up with my broken Spanish and made us feel welcome every single time. The pool side staff were great. I wish I could remember their names but there was a server who brought my college aged kids a drink in an actual watermelon! They loved it. Francesco might have been his name but probably not! We were treated so well. The ladies at the coffee shop were so attentive, always happy to see everyone and seemed like they were having fun. The entertainment was decent, my kids loved the Beyonce show, the rock concert and the greatest showman concert. Pools were great, plenty of seating, beach was great, they did their best to get rid of the sargassum. Overall it reset my expectation of an AI. I can deal with the 7 out of 10 food with a 10 out of 10 staff attitude and experience. I would definitely go back based on the staff.

We have just returned after spending 2 weeks here during Christmas. The hotel and grounds were fabulous, a big shout out to the gardeners who keep the grounds immaculate.. The location right on the beach was lovely. All the staff, bar a couple of exceptions were friendly and approachable. The food on offer was exceptional either in the buffet or the specialty restaurants, with a variety of choices. We only had one poor meal which was the set menu on Christmas eve in the Italian, it was overcooked and cold, which was a shame as we had previously had a fabulous meal here. As a constructive criticism to the management you need to offer more training to your staff and provide them with the tools to do their job to a 5 star standard. Patricia in the lobby bar had a good understanding of the drinks she served but never had the availability of the correct glasses in which to serve it in. The glasses were kept in a room behind the bar so service could be slow, often a Gin and tonic, a beer, or a cocktail was not served in the correct glass. We were given a wine in a small brandy glass as that was all that was available. Patricia often went searching for the correct glass as she knew how important it was to us. This is not what a 5 star bar should be like. All the entertainment staff were lovely always friendly and engaging. We did not watch any of the evening entertainment in the Plaza as the volume here was too noisy so noisy you could not understand what was being said or sung, it was more an acceptable level at Dreams. I would like to mention some of the staff that made a good impression on us, Luz and Sandra in the buffet restaurant, Patricia in the Lobby bar, Santos on the live meat station in the buffet, he always greeted you with a welcoming smile and cooked to perfection, Maralin on the omelettes which were delicious, she was always smiling and happy to serve. Eric (i think that was his name)in the Japanese restaurant had exceptional customer service and was very attentive. The Japanese restaurant was overly noisy especially when the show meal was being cooked. We did attend this and the food was amazing but I didn't understand what all the shouting was about. It would have been better if the chefs explained what they were cooking and the ingredients they were using, this is what I was expecting , not having to shout bam do de bam all the time, it was unnecessary and nothing to do with Japanese food. The rooms were a decent size , the bed comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. Not all staff had a good understanding of english and often got things wrong as a result. I know I don't speak their language, however I'm not in front line customer service in a 5 star hotel where 90% of the clientele speak english.
