My wife and I had a wonderful first anniversary experience at Lopesan! First we have to give a huge shout out to the Assistant Manager and esteemed butler Fermín for taking great care of us. This was our first time in the DR at Lopesan and the experience was extremely nice, especially for the Unique package. We had a couple of issues with the bathroom setup and the panhandlers trying to sell us excursions, but outside of that; the resort, Unique experience, and food was on point. The bathroom does not have a door that closes so that you can have complete privacy when using the toilet. My wife and I worked around that by turning up the tv or sitting on the nice balcony.There is a door, but you are right next to the sink. There is no door to close off the bathroom from the rest of your room. It was a nice room but the setup is a little different than other resorts. The entire place is pretty new and there are several food options. Of all food options we enjoyed Italian, Hibachi, French, and the Unique Club the most. The steak restaurant was really nice too, but the Italian restaurant had the best food. We enjoyed having food grilled for us at the Unique club and we visited the ice cream place every day. The Price to Value ratio is outstanding! We had a Unique/Butler experience with a private beach, private pool and private bar. After being treated like that, you will think twice about having a normal experience at a different resort. We plan to go back with all of our family. The beach was beautiful and the resort is fairly new since it was built in 2019. The best bar is the lobby bar. Get all of your drinks from them. We enjoyed the Banana Mama! Last shout out goes to Fermín for booking all of our eating experiences and checking in to make sure everyday was a great day. He made it very easy to communicate via WhatsApp and took care of every little detail for us. This will probably be an annual vacation for us now. 🏖️🏖️🌴🌴😎😎

ISAURY DE LOS SANTOS was our butler for unique swim up room. Fantastic butler. The resort has been wonderful. The only negative point I have is the landscape polution (boats) in front of the beach. This is everyday. You cannot see the open ocean without seeing many boats. A personal choice is that I would not get the swim up room. They are not private. I would choose unique adults only. They have a pool and the best bar in the resort. That is my personal choice.

This vacation was to celebrate my 30th birthday so as you can imagine we did a lot of research and were very selective when it came to narrowing down a resort to spend this milestone. Lopesan Bavaro seemed like the perfect fit with beautiful scenery and a gorgeous beach and most importantly they had an adult only section. My boyfriend and I paid over $300 each extra to book the adult section pool view for 5 nights and that's where the disappointments started. When we arrived, the resort was gorgeous we were told to head to the adult section to check in and had to wait over half an hour for someone to just acknowledge us. The person checking us seemed as if he was in a rush or didn't want to work. No explanation of anything and when asking questions, we just got brushed off. The adults only part is literally a tiny section at the back of the resort secluded from everything with a view of construction in the background. Disappointed with the view we got especially after paying more we went to speak to management who told us he will take the recommendations for future guests, and he acknowledge that IT IS NOT AN ADULTS ONLY RESORT just a tiny section that adults only can enter with a tiny pool a tiny bar and no food in that section. There was nothing he offered to do for us, we offered to give up the adult section and move to anywhere else in the resort for a better review and still nothing. Worst part is the view we really wanted we could have saved over $600 when we booked if things weren't falsely advertised on all booking sites saying that this is an adult only resort. We have been to multiple resorts that have family only sides and adult sides like Ocean Eden Bay and Planet Hollywood Adult Scene. Asides from that being the first disappointment the second was the cleanliness of the rooms. They didn't properly clean the rooms and right in front of our room during the entire stay there was a leak in the ceiling that was fully opened and just a bucket under collecting water. The food was pretty good at most restaurants. Our favourite was the Mediterranean and teppanyaki. Keep in mind if you don't book your restaurants the moment you arrive you probably won't get into any. We arrived on Friday and tried to book the teppanyaki for my birthday on Monday, but it didn't have any openings. I went to ask to see if they could make an exception and give us a spot for my birthday, but they just asked like they didn't care and said no. I luckily checked the day before and 1 spot had opened. Most people at the resort had a terrible attitude. Not happy to help and just seems like you're bothering them if you ask anything. The activities such as the disco and arcade have weird hours or are closed certain days of the week which is terrible, we often found ourselves with nothing to do at times. And the layout of the resort is awful. The free 25-minute hydrotherapy they offered us was just a pool in the spa. A jetted section of the pool which was not hot. I went back online today before posting this review and noticed that now they have updated the adults only booking to include photos of the actual pool that you get access to and changed the name from adults only section to adults only club. It should be noted that this pool is nowhere on the full view of the resort it is actually located behind the resort. Overall, I was really disappointed with the resort for what we paid for and what we received. The resort has a lot of potential, but we will not be returning.

The atmosphere and design of the hotel is very nice, but that's all, everything else - food, service, cocktails, rooms are of very poor quality, for this price, you can find a much better alternative. The service staff cheats on people, the first day I went to the Casino to play poker,2 hotel staff came to the table to play, a person who deals cards, deals out bad cards so that you lose, the food is very poor, the buffet has little choice, the food is cold, the food in the restaurants is also poor, the beach is the worst in Punta Cana, the rooms smell of mold, the room was cleaned only once in 9 days, by the pool if you will not give tips, they will bring drinks only after an hour, the staff is also very unfriendly, One coconut is sold for $5, where in other hotels they are free, I do not recommend this hotel.

The entertainment was incredible. All the amenities were great. The service was great despite other reviews. Tip the staff and they will take care of you. Plain and simple. I can understand if you are not from a country where tipping is customary, but it is here. So bring cash. If you are wondering if the Unique upgrade is worth it..YES YES YES! Our butler's name was Isaury De Los Santos. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was stress free. He set up all our dinner reservations on day 1. This is the key benefit of unique. We talked to other non unique guest who pointed out being frustrated not getting a reservation every night. Isaury even sent us a bag of snacks to take on our saona island excursion! Only a few things would improve the resort. I would like to see Air Conditioning in the unique and beach buffet. Just for food safety reasons, though i didn't have any stomach issues. There are no hot tubs on the property unless you get a corner suite. They should get a few for the spa and add it to the hydro therapy package. I would have paid a few times for that. Bottom line, we loved our experience at Lopesan and I think you will too.

I'm not sure how there are so many positive reviews unless they are false or this location discriminates against its guest. Our recent stay at the Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino in the Dominican Republic was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that guest satisfaction was not a priority for this establishment. Room Accommodations: Bait and Switch We had meticulously planned our stay, booking the oceanfront suite well in advance. However, upon arrival, we were informed that our reserved room was unavailable. Despite multiple confirmations and persistent follow-ups by my team and assistants—who were frequently hung up on and dismissed—we were downgraded to an inferior room lacking the ocean view we had paid for. It wasn't until the following day that we were grudgingly moved to the room we had originally reserved. This pattern of overbooking and downgrading guests seems to be a deliberate tactic by the resort as others within our party experienced the same thing. Inadequate Butler Services Our group of 30 was assigned a butler named Wendy, who, despite the resort's shortcomings, went above and beyond to assist us. Unfortunately, many in our group never even met their assigned butlers, let alone received any services. Wendy's dedication was a rare bright spot in an otherwise dismal experience. Substandard Room Conditions The rooms were fraught with issues: uncomfortable beds, sinks with no hot water, and malfunctioning air conditioning units. These are basic amenities one expects from any hotel, let alone a so-called five-star resort. Appalling Restaurant Experiences Dining at the resort's restaurants was consistently unpleasant. Service was neglectful; staff rarely checked if we needed anything, often ignoring simple requests like refilling drinks or providing bread. At the hibachi restaurant, we were unceremoniously rushed out before finishing our meal due to staff delays in serving dessert. Additionally, despite prior reservations, our group was split up at the steak restaurant, with some members left out entirely. The staff showed a blatant unwillingness to rectify these issues, displaying a complete disregard for guest satisfaction. Mishandling of Transportation and Staff Mistreatment Wendy, our diligent butler, attempted to coordinate with security to allow our external transportation service to pick us up directly from the resort's entrance, sparing us a lengthy walk. Instead of appreciating his efforts to enhance our experience, the management unjustly accused him of unauthorized arrangements and terminated his employment, despite evidence proving his innocence. This unjust action against one of their best employees is both alarming and disheartening. Embarrassing Treatment of Guests A member of our group, a highly successful individual, was not informed about the 'Unica' experience upgrade. When she joined us for breakfast in the Unica facility, she was publicly embarrassed and asked to leave, despite the oversight being entirely the resort's fault. Such tactless treatment is inexcusable. Lack of Activities for Children and Teens The resort's offerings for children and teenagers were severely lacking. The kids' club and teen club were confined to rooms with minimal activities, failing to engage or entertain the younger members of our group. Neglectful Poolside Service While lounging by the pool, we were consistently ignored by the waitstaff, who attended to other guests but blatantly overlooked our group. This pattern of neglect was pervasive throughout our stay. Conclusion: A Resort to Avoid Our experience at Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino was the worst we have ever encountered. The consistent neglect, unprofessionalism, and outright disrespect have left us with no desire to return to the Dominican Republic. We strongly advise others to avoid this resort to prevent enduring a similarly dreadful experience.

We enjoyed our time at the unique Lopesan Bavaro. Our Butler Andreas was extremely friendly and helped us with every want and need. Can’t say enough about the service, attention to detail especially during breakfast at the unique club. The dinners were all delicious from the Mexican, French, Mediterranean, and Japanese. Again the service and attention to detail were second to none. We often use Sandals but now we will be switching to the Lopesan brand for our vacations. So hats off to an unforgettable vacation! One little caveat for beach lovers, party boats and the many excursion boats makes the water no fun to swim in. We found the Playa Blanca and Macao beach as great alternatives for a beach trip with white sand beaches or great breakers.

Disappointing Experience – Fails to Meet Luxury Standards We had high expectations for this hotel, but it fell far short of luxury standards. The food was a major disappointment: the general buffet offered only a few basic options, while the beach buffet—The Gold Fish—was disorganized, messy, and uninspired. Lunch choices were notably scarce, reflecting a lack of effort in providing a memorable dining experience. The drinks selection was equally underwhelming. The cocktail offerings were unimpressive, and the limited beer options, available at only one or two bars, did not meet the quality one expects from a luxury resort. The most frustrating aspect was the service. Staff members were often unhelpful and appeared untrained, struggling to answer even simple guest questions. Moreover, many were distracted by their cell phones—constantly talking among themselves—leaving guests unattended and ignored, especially at the bars where proactive service was sorely lacking. Overall, the combination of basic food, subpar drinks, and inattentive service left us deeply disappointed. This establishment did not deliver the luxury experience it promised.

This is my review of the Lopesan following our recent stay. Generally the hotel looks pleasing, is set out well, beautiful and was ideally located for our purpose. WiFi: the WiFi was good whilst in your room, lobby or restaurants. Sadly the WiFi was very poor around the pool area or beach. We tried different locations but not able to obtain a stable connection. Food: we tended to eat early for breakfast, lunch and dinner and mainly opted for the adults only buffet for breakfast and dinner where there is a food selection however the food was always cold. I believe the main issue of this is because the plates are cold to start with and therefore what heat there maybe in the food soon disappears before you get to your seat to eat. I’ve stayed in many 5 star all inclusive restaurants similar to the Lopesan and the food has always been hot so this was a disappointing element of the Lopesan. We did try the steakhouse one evening but didn’t enjoy it, sadly the steak was too large (took up the whole plate) and was very fatty and was disappointed not to have been offered a steak knife. Room: the room size was very good but there were a few issues: no tv remote, a couple of times our room was not cleaned and/or towels were not replaced and during our whole stay the floor was not cleaned once. Sofas and chairs i side and out were all heavily stained. The view from our room wasn’t great and we were woken every morning at 5am by the roosters in the neighbouring properties. Pool and beach area: the infinity pool and beach were lovely however the toilets around the pool area were not cleaned, quite often no toilet paper available and on more than one occasion people where being stuck in the toilet cubicles due to faulty locks which were reported to maintenance it not fixed. I was also disappointed by the lack of cleaning around these areas, rubbish left from the night before, tables not cleaned etc. and on one occasions somebody had left glasses on the beach, I mentioned this to the waitress clearing nearby but she just walked passed it. Towels: unfortunately beds are reserved from 7am in the morning, we witnessed some people not arriving until some 5 hours later. This is disappointing that the hotel management don’t manage this compared to other resorts. Entertainment: my opinion of this was poor, lack of daytime entertainment around the pool and the evening shows were on very late compared to other all inclusive resorts we have stayed at. We have seen the MJ show many times at other resorts and this was by far the worst with the back up dancers out of sync to the main performer. Service: staff do seem to be distant and not attentive for a 5 star resort and do appear rude at times. On many occasions staff were on their mobile phones and not bothered by the waiting customers. General observation: sanitizer available in lobby but not other areas. It’s amazing how many people do not wash their hands after using the toilets. Maybe this is why there are reports of illness. We took our own sanitizer and were very careful. Experiences: by far the best part of our holiday were the experiences booked by pool, the first being the dolphin experience and then the buggy experience booked with Tour Point. Overall my rating of our stay whilst at the Lopesan was 3/5. We are well travelled and have stayed at many 5 star all inclusive resorts, this was our first Lopesan experience and wouldn’t stay again.

We recently (last week) had our wedding here, and it was truly a dream come true! From the breathtaking venue to the impeccable service, everything exceeded our expectations. The staff went above and beyond to make our special day perfect, and the experience didn’t end there—our entire stay was nothing short of exceptional. A special shoutout to our butler, Jose, who made our time at the resort even more magical. His attention to detail and thoughtful surprises, such as champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries, rose petals in our suite, and other personalized touches, made us feel so special. He ensured we had everything we needed and more, always going the extra mile to accommodate any request. If you’re considering this resort for your wedding or just a luxurious getaway, don’t hesitate—it’s truly an unforgettable experience. We will cherish these memories forever and can’t wait to return next year!

My boyfriend and I booked the adults-only section and got a room on the fourth floor, the room was beautiful but immediately when we walked in you could smell the mold. Upon inspection, we found a significant amount of mold on the lampshade and some under the door of the shower. Everything in the room was damp, I should have listened and bought damp rid like some had suggested as this and the smell of the mold made it difficult to sleep at night. The resort was stunning, especially at night! It is a big resort, we'd get at least 10k steps a day, which isn't bad considering how much food we ate. Lots to do as well, there are always multiple activities planned throughout the day in addition to the casino, escape room, etc. The food on the resort was a 7/10, I did enjoy most of it! We went to El Charro, El Asador, La Boheme and Gondola which were all amazing. Buffet was good as well. The staff and service were unreal 902342/10 - Domingo at the adults only pool would make sure we were taken care of throughout the day. At breakfast, dinner and lunch, there would always be someone refilling our water, taking away our dirty plates, or refilling our coffees. The cleaning staff were great as well, we were brought clean towels and water every day. Overall, was a great experience except for the room which is unfortunate as it would have been a perfect trip. Not sure how much longer this resort will last considering how bad the mold was!

This is our 2nd trip to this resort. In march 2024, we had booked unique club but, for us, it wasn't worth the premium paid. This time, we decided on adult only and we've much preferred it over the unique club. Be aware that the adult only hotel rooms area is for everyone including kids, it's only the pool that is adult only. Upon check-in, we were offered a free upgrade from garden view to pool view and thought it was nice to be offered some incentive for returning guests. We did appreciate the food at all restaurants and buffet, our best been the Inari, the Mareas and the El Charro. We had great times at the Caribe buffet, the staff is always welcoming and smiling. Something has changed at The Valley and while we did appreciate the food on our first trip, we did not this time, the food was not cook enough or cold. The drinks were excellent at the La Perla adult only pool bar compared to last year Unique bar or Infinite pool drinks that were mostly served with no alcohol if you didn’t ask for it. We had some’s issues during our stay. Except for the 2 occasions that we had a different maid, the room cleaning service was horrible, from missing towels to no balcony cleaning or no cleaning at all even if we left tip everyday. The minibar was left not refill on multiple occasion and again we also left tip in the mini fridge. On day 3, I went to the reception to ask for a refill since we only drink bottled water and we had none left. From day 4, we decided to stop leaving tip. Our room was also in a decline state, the patio door couldn't be close or lock completely, the was a gap that we could see the outside through. Hopefully, there was not a lot of insects at the 4th floor. There was paint chipping from the balcony wooden guard rails. The balcony of this section of the 4th floor only has a partial roof so when it rains the couch got all soak and it took forever to dry. A desk drawer was broken and couldn't be used. The shade on the floor lamp was covered with unknown stains. There was a large blood stain underneath the toilet seat and a large mold on the shower floor. The ceramic tile grout beside the toilet had a dark brown color that was disgusting. Someone before us left a round sticker on the shower wall that was still there on our last day. There was no carafe for the coffee machine and we had to ask to get one. I’ve taken pictures of most issues but don’t feel it necessary to publish them. Despite all these issues, we both appreciated our stay but it will probably be our last time at the Lopesan if they don’t drop the price considerably. This resort is still enjoyable but should not still be consider 5 stars. We thought that weren’t getting enough for our money.

We really enjoyed our trip here. Andre (butler) took care of our every needs and went far and beyond. Highly recommend staying in the Unique section. Unique bar had the best drinks and views. Restaurants were good, and service was outstanding. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Only complaint I would have is the Gondola Restaurant (Italian) have 3 beautiful fire burning ovens and they don't use them. Pizza looked like it was cooked in a microwave. What a shame. Other than that, I highly recommend.

Where do I start we just came home from a 10 day trip for my wife's 50th birthday and I can't say thank you enough to all the staff at this Beautiful hotel, from the unique beach restaurant for breakfast, the food, staff manager's everyone always had a smile and a good morning for you everyday, I want to thank Dario and his staff at the French restaurant the two times we were there for dinner they went above and beyond to make our experiences amazing thank you so much. To Domingo the bartender at the adult's only pool thank you for making our days so much fun and great drinks and to Dillson the bartender at the unique bar you young man are beyond friendly and helpful each and every day there, to the bartenders at the lobby bar you as well were always smiling and making sure everyone was taken care of thank you. Mexican restaurant great food great atmosphere a pleasure Italian restaurant was good I'm not a big Italian person so didn't get what I probably should have but still good Steak house great views decor very nice and service and food were on point French restaurant hands down wonderful both times Main buffet was OK not a big buffet guy though Beach beautiful clean seaweed always being cleaned up never a problem. To our butler Jose I can't say thank you enough for everything and I truly mean everything you were absolutely amazing and a credit to this hotel, we are already booking for next March and can't wait to get back and see some happy faces. This is a very beautiful resort. It is very clean and the staff are all exceptional. It is a very large resort and even though we booked and paid for adults only there are children everywhere. Only one adult only pool which was small with limited lounge chairs and shade. The buffet seating was adults only but at the buffet it was open to everyone. Only one restaurant that was adults only which was a steak hourse. We also booked and paid extra for a swim up suite however due to overbooking a family was booked into the room next door to us so there were children in our little quiet oasis. There is no ban on smoking. Smoking permitted anywhere outdoors which we found uncomfortable. Overall it was a very lovely resort but too large for two seniors with limited mobility.

Stayed for 4 days and had an amazing time! Everyone from the time you check in until the time we left was extremely helpful and went above and beyond! Jose Antonio was very attentive and met our every need. Would 100% go back time and time again!
