What a beautiful beautiful property! All staff are very kind, professional and so very helpful and accommodating! We so much enjoyed our stay. Our room was outstanding. The MexThai fusion in the open air patio absolutely one of our best meals. Massage in the spa was completely relaxing and a sensory delight. Much praise for this property. The pool was under renovation and a reason why we chose this hotel, but it mattered not. Thank you and highly recommend for your stay in the enchanting SMA!

Would stay at Rosewood or Belmond instead of Live Aqua. While the property is admittedly beautiful, the property still has significant logistics issues to work through. Do not believe our room was ever cleaned before 4P, you need to ask for more water and coffee daily or else it will not be refilled, our keys were deactivated nearly daily, and we received errant charges to our bill. Finally, beware that a significant number of rooms are subterranean, so you should expect very minimal natural light if you draw the short straw on room location. It’s a big corporation, so the property’s ability to remediate grievances is limited (other reviews here corroborate the resolution issue). Again, this is a beautiful place to stay, but you should expect five-star facilities with three-star attention to detail. Also, read the fine print - there is an added 10% gratuity fee that is added to your bill when you check in. We had a great vacation, but this hotel is not worth the price.

It was a terrible experience for me and my wife, the hygiene of this hotel is very dangerous, terrible smell in the steam and a rat ate a cake that we left in the room, we used the spa that is not included in any category of the hotel, you have to pay for the spa $ 30 for one hour of service, it is absurd that you can only use it for one hour, I think that the hotel administration does not understand the concept of a spa, since it is for relaxation, then we left a cake in our room and we found a rat eating it, a horrible experience, I do not recommend this hotel

Very nice hotel! Staff was friendly and food was good and room was comfortable. One star off because they don't have hot tubs (the jacuzzies at the pool are NOT hot and they said they are more like "soaking pools" whatever that is. Prob 90 degrees vs the 100+ that they should be). We also had a "soaking pool" in our little porch that would have been SO nice but it was like 85 degrees which just isn't warm enough to sit there in. The other thing was the room design – the bathroom was encased in the cleaning glass you've ever seen right in the middle of the room and it's a safety hazard.

This is a really astounding property. Not only is the hotel and its rooms beautiful, but the service is incredible. Highly recommend the stay for anyone in town. Also their spa is out of this world. Special thanks to Montse for the warm welcome, recommendations, and overall amazing experience.

There is such an array of amazing boutique hotels to stay in SMA, that it made it hard to choose. Because we were going during a warm period, we decided to pick a hotel with a pool to cool off in during the afternoons. However, this was only a small part of why we love this hotel soooo much. We were concerned that it was slightly out of town, however, the 10-15 min walk into town was part of the charm. We felt safe at all times and it was an easy walk thru beautiful and colorful streets, ones that we might have missed if we stayed smack in the middle of town. It was also super easy to take an Uber and less than $5. The pool area was dreamy... comfortable lounges, day beds (no upcharge), perfect temperature pool and beautiful views. I will mention that we were there for four days and on Saturday, the pool vibe became a party atmosphere with a DJ, which was fun. The other days it was more subdued. Also, there are kids at this resort and in the pool. Usually we stay at an all adults, but the kids were fine and did not deter from the vibe of the hotel. The grounds are breathtaking, well taken care of and the staff exceptional. I would highly recommend that you partake in the breakfast each day. Beautiful atmosphere in the courtyard and scrumptious local food. We at the the Spice restaurant too for lunch, beautiful patio, delicious food, but a bit of small portions for the price paid. We also went to the cigar bar late at night for a nightcap. No cigars were being smoked, but the vibe was super cool and a fun way to end the night. We LOVED our room. I highly recommend that you get the Sundeck Suite category room. Well worth the upgraded price. The views, private patio with daybed and access to the pool was invaluable. The room itself was stunning. Clean, beautifully decorated and had a great bed. We visited some other high end hotels in town (Rosewood...) and Live Aqua was so much more impressive. Don't hesitate to book here, you will have no regrets.

Let me start by saying- the resort its self is beautiful and the grounds are well maintained. With that being said- the good stops there. Upon arrival we were directed to the concierge lounge for check in where we were directed to sit and wait. Fine. We were told we would be getting a different room than we had booked- they changed the room. Fine. I had told them it was my partners birthday- they said they would send a cake and bottle of champagne. That never came. The room looked great initially - had all the amenities everything was perfect until we came around 1am and turned on the lights. A HUGE cockroach went running from the side of the bed to the chair. We killed it and called the front desk. The gentleman at the front desk told us he will send someone to “clean” the room. Upon asking what that would do since if there is one there is more when it comes to cockroaches, he proceeded to ask me what I suggest be done. I politely hung up. They called back and spoke to my partner and asked him if he was lying about the infestation and told us we would be changing rooms. When the person came to get our bags- he informed us that the general manager would be coming to speak to us tomorrow to sign a “NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT” to ensure we would not talk about the infestation 😳😳😳 lol. Ok. We change rooms. The room they brought us to had a mold smell that was so pungent we both were stuffy by morning. Our room was changed again and the rest of the time there was ok. The GM never showed his face, even when we asked where he was. The Al la carte food was terrible. Buffets for both breakfast and lunch were good. Beds are comfortable. For the amount of money you are paying to stay here- you would expect that any infestations would be handled prior to guest arrival - or- do not put guests in that building if you know there is an ongoing issue and certainly you cannot ask people to sign anything. Ludicrous. This is a 2 star at best. We would not return here again because of the food and the way the issues were handled.

Spice Market at Live Aqua is two thumbs up!
We ate at the Spice Market restaurant. Loved the Asian/Mexican fusion shareable plates - especially the edamame, cucumber salad, fried chicken bao buns and fried rice. My husband loved the fish dish. The vodka specialty cocktail was too tart for my taste. Georgina and Ricardo provided excellent service!!

This is a luxury resort that feels very comfortable. Service is excellent. Food is also excellent in the main lobby restaurant and the Spice Market is terrific. There is a steak house next to the hotel that is out of this world. The location of this hotel is walkable to the Town square in under 15 minutes. If you choose to take an Uber, with gratuity you are only looking at five to seven dollars.

From beginning to end our stay here was magical. We loved the open floor plan of our Viento suite. Breakfast was amazing- and the Sunday brunch is an absolute MUST. We also ate dinner at Spice Market 2x ! My partner had an amazing experience with the tequila sommelier and was able to taste many different types of tequila. The concierge team was 2nd to none and seamlessly arranged transportation for us from the hotel to the airport. I had a great spa experience with my massage therapist, Sylvianna, and will absolutely book with her again. We’re coming back in 6 weeks we enjoyed our experience so much :))

FIVE STARS. FIVE STARS. FIVE STARS. I LOVE this hotel! The rooms are gorgeous. The pool area and spa are phenomenal. Love how quiet it is as well as the neighborhood Obraje. A very short walk to both La Parroquia and el Jardin as well as La Fabrica de la Aurora. Pricing for F&B is a bit high at the hotel ($50 USD for a continental breakfast + coffee), but you can easily find non-gringo pricing within a short walk of the hotel. Otherwise, the hotel and its team are friendly, service-oriented and worthy of the price for the stay. Book with confidence.
