My husband and I recently stayed at this beautiful hotel for 4 nights. The location was great. We found shops, museums and restaurants within walking distance. The metro station was close by. The room was beautiful with a comfortable bed. We did not eat at the hotel for dinner due to the high prices. $50 plus per plate. The breakfast buffet was fine. The location of the dinning room was overlooking the Acropolis.

We stayed here before and after a Ritz Carlton Cruise. The location is absolutely fantastic. Book a balcony room for sure. The changing of the guard at the Palace captured our attention every single time we were in the room and the views of the Acropolis are magnificent. The location is also quite convenient for sightseeing, shopping, and dining options. The 3 stars comes from the less than impressed experience we had with one very pompous maitre d, George. We returned from a day of sightseeing and shopping and stopped at the front desk to ask where we might get a glass of wine. They directed us to the (only) bar in the hotel that happens to be the Michelin starred restaurant. We went up to the bar only to be given the once-over by George and turned away because my husband was wearing shorts- now keep in mind, it was July and temperature reached the upper 90’s if not over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. We went back to our room; he changed into long pants and we returned. We sat at the bar and finally enjoyed the glasses of wine. We watched other couples arrive. Apparently baseball caps, tshirts, and jeans are appropriate dress whereas khaki shorts and a collared shirt are not. I think the whole experience was compounded by the fact that the front desk saw our attire and directed us to the bar- as well as the fact that George could have handled the whole situation with more tact and less arrogance.

The hotel was expensive - more than I expected for Athens to be honest - but it truly delivered on all fronts. Check in was great, we received an upgrade as Titanium members, and received a good amount of information about the hotel and recommendations unsolicited. The room was classic but really well maintained with modern charging outlets next to the bed and a beautiful marbled bathroom (with great lighting). Service was exemplary throughout the hotel. The hotel restaurant - a Michelin star restaurant - was really very good, and the view of the lighted Acropolis in the evening was quite exceptional. The pool in the sister hotel next door was a good size for a city hotel.

The King George Hotel is a real jewel in the heart of Athens. We had a wonderful 3 night stay. The staff was very accommodating, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We especially enjoyed the amazing breakfast every morning at the restaurant Tudor Hall on the 7 th floor. The views of the Acropolis and the Parthenon were stunning. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We especially enjoyed our extremely kind and attentive waitress Anna! She was eager to please and made sure every morning that we experienced all the special Greek food on the menu. She really made certain that our day began with a very special attention. We would highly recommend this unique hotel.

After 7 years we have returned to this Hotel again. In 2017 I have rated this Hotel with 2 points. It is interesting for me to read the answer from the Hotel for my review. It was written that all will be checked and improved to become better in the future. And guess what our new experiences are almost the same like in 2017. Arrival: When arriving by Taxi at once the Doorman has helped us to take out our luggage and to give us a receipt to present it to the staff at the reception. Check-In: Of course the staff has not noticed that we are frequent guests and that this is our fourth stay in this Hotel. I have asked the Lady when was our last stay. She didn't know it and was unable to check it. Because of this there will be no benefit if you stay here more often. Connected with this I got told that they have a new Software since 2017. In that year I got told that the new owner is Marriott and they have bought it from Starwood Hotels. But what a pity that this information was wrong because it was bought in 2016 and Marriott has already sent me the booking confirmation in 2017. I have shown it to her! We have not received any information about the Hotel, the Breakfast, the Restaurant and other connected things like Check-Out time. During our stay from September, 10th-13th in 2024 the Hotel was charging 1000 € not $ per night in the cheapest category! This is the Benchmark, Standard and the Level to judge the value for money! This price is LUXURY. But is it a real LUXURY Hotel? Now I got asked for my Credit Card to make a Deposit which I have rejected. I have told her that if they want they can take out all things from the Minibar. In addition I have mentioned that after my Check-Out it will take days to get back my Deposit. She has confirmed it. Then she has asked me at Minimum to pay a Deposit of 100 €. I have asked what for and got informed that it is for the Tax. I have answered that I want to pay it at once. And surprise. I only needed to pay 30€ for the City Tax.. Then I have asked her to show us our room. Room: Number 102K Located in the first floor. From here you can look at the Government building. You can watch the heavy traffic which is very noisy. Of course the air condition is very bad. Like 7 years before there were no Mineralwater, no fruit basket nor flowers in the room. What do you expect when the Hotel is offering a night at the price of 1.000 € ( not $) per night for the cheapest category? Balcony: When sitting on the chair the flag always has hit us in our face. Bathroom: There are no amenities in the room. The Balcony door knob was not fixed in a correct way . This is the same like in 2017. The Illy coffee machine was put in a small space in the wardrobe. The machine was faulty and not working. The bell of the room was faulty as well. The Toilet seat was shaky and needed to get repaired. While sitting on the Toilet I hit my knees because the Toilet paper holder is fixed directly in front of the Toilet. In addition the telephone fell down because it is also fixed directly near the Toilet. There is no separate Shower. When you enter the Bathtub you need to be very careful because of the hight and width. The washbasin is very small and the cupboard has almost no space to put your things. There is only space for two glasses, toothpaste and an electrical toothbrush. There is only a small side table as a compromise solution. In the room they put a plastic flower for decoration. Breakfast: It will be served in the 7th floor with perfect view at the Akropolis, Government building and at the City Center. The Breakfast is very simple and Basic. It has nothing to do with a Luxury Hotel with a very high room rate. The staff is friendly but badly organized. Out of 3 days the first day we got presented a Menu to order additional food a la carte. The second day it was not presented. The third day it was presented when we have finished our Breakfast! In general the staff is friendly and caring. Reception: The last day before departure we have asked a Lady wearing glasses about the price for a normal Taxi to the Port of Piräus. It will be an amount of 25-30 €. It is not a fixed price. It is depending on the traffic. Then she said but if we do it we will charge 65 €! Check-Out: There was no question about our satisfaction. There was no wish about: Hopefully you will return soon. Finally we have not seen a Luxury Hotel with a good value for money! It seems that there is not enough training, controlling and interest to make things better.

Spent an amazing few days at the luxurious King George! Our suite was spacious and elegantly decorated with magnificent views of the Parthenon.. really amazing!! The rooftop restaurant, Tudor Hall, is one of the best, most romantic restaurants we've ever eaten at and we live in NYC and have traveled quite a lot. The food was absolutely incredible (it certainly deserves it's Michelin star!), the live music wonderful and the view of the Acropolis beyond spectacular.. truly unforgettable!!!! This historic, boutique hotel is perfectly located for exploring Athens and we did just that. The terrific, hotel concierges, Antoine and Theodore, arranged for our awesome guide, Vicky, to give us an amazing tour of the Acropolis museum, the Acropolis, the Temple of Zeus and more. Thank you King George for such a magical, memorable stay! Can't wait to go back!

We stayed at hotel for 1 night before taking a week long cruise seeing the Greek islands. The hotel was very nice and elegant. Really liked the decor and the service was very good. Their sister property right next door had a Cigar Lounge, Spa and restaurant. Similar furnishings and you can use their facilities for free. This hotel is part of the American Express Fine Hotels collection so you get daily breakfast, late check oh out and credit towards expenses. We arrived very early from our flight and had to wait a few hours before we could check in around 12:30pm. Room was decorated nicely with Byredo toiletries. Room service was available.
