Overpriced and dated accommodations. The condo was very spacious. However it was not nearly as updated and attractive as the photos on the website. It clearly hadn't been updated for at least 30 years. The kitchen was terribly equipped. Glassware cooking pots etc could have been updated from a dollar store and been better. There is absolutely no service available from the resort itself. The office had very limited hours. The fridge and freezer were malfunctioning and failing intermittently. An email sent to their service department received no response at all. For $700 canadian per night we could have stayed in a regular beachside hotel with much better service. There is no value for the addon resort fee and service and cleaning charges. They actually wanted us to take out all our own garbage and recycling. What is the cleaning fee for? Obviously no Improvements or updates have been put in this unit in decades and they were charging outrageous sums of money and giving no support whatsoever.

The Kapalua villas are undoubtedly set beautifully - in a manicured gated community and provide a wonderful base from which to explore the island. However, please be aware that there are some significant extra costs associated that aren’t immediately advertised which, if I’m honest, do detract from the experience and would be better factored in from the outset ….. 1) You will pay a substantial daily cleaning fee, regardless of how much mess you make. This also does not constitute a daily maid service and you are still expected to take all your trash out upon departure!! 2) There is an obligatory ‘damage protection’ fee, regardless of whether you damage anything or not!! 3) The standard daily resort fee ….of course!!! Once you get past these extra costs, the condos are well furnished and comfortable ….. but nothing ‘high end’. The village has a handy ABC store and the drive to/from the airport is easy and takes approximately 50mins. The beach is a short walk and is very beautiful, but does get quite busy. All in all, I suspect there is better value for money on the island as this place is a little ‘style over substance’.

Great place to stay! Had a full kitchen which was nice to cook at home and save a little money. Plenty of restaurants near by, but be sure to book reservations way ahead of time! The costal walk was beautiful and close by.

Beautiful location and exquisitely appointed and luxuriously comfortable villa. Multiple grocery stores are nearby, so we saved quite a bit by making our own meals. There are two beaches within quick walking distance - one is often used by hotel guests and is calm while the other is nearly always empty or nearly so and has excellent surf. We have returned to this location repeatedly over the past years and highly recommend it. Only a single downside: the facility tends to use gas-powered gardening tools, occasionally starting quite early in the morning. For those coming from the mainland, especially the east coast, this can be distressing if it happens to be one of your first few mornings in Hawai'i.

Negative first. Be aware that there is a Extortionate cleaning fee plus an added insurance fee plus taxes. I was charged £640 dollars extra for my 5 night stay. There is no one available after 5pm so try to arrive for check in before 5pm. On a positive side the villas are lovely and the surroundings are beautiful. There are lovely beaches to visit. We stayed local and thoroughly enjoyed the location. There is a small store on site which sells pretty much anything you will need.

We have been going to a maui for 20 years, always staying at the Whaler 1224 on Kaanapali beach. Our preferred unit wasn’t available for the time we wanted, so booked Kapalua Villas for a week. The unit was huge, a one bedroom lower level. Wonderful patio looking out at a long expanse of lawn and the ocean. Kaanapali beach is one of the best in the world. Unfortunately, swimming in Kapalua is quite inconvenient. The local Oneloa Bay beach is full of coral, making swimming difficult, and a walk down to DT Fleming, not much better. Prices reasonable for Maui, but don’t expect Kehei prices.

We had a terrible stay here. We voiced our concerns to management but nothing was done. I have stayed in 2 star hotels that were nicer. The villa was dirty, dusty and dated. The bed was terrible - you could practically feel the coils through the mattress. The room was stuffy. All decorative plants (there were a number of them in the unit we stayed in) had a ton of dust. The ceiling in the primary bedroom was even dusty and the fan kept blowing the dust around! There were black hairs that were found throughout the unit (not ours). There was a small piece of toilet paper left in the shower (I’m not sure how that would have even gotten in there - this just goes to show how little effort was put forth when they were “cleaning” the unit). The tub had a line of dirt at the bottom of it. It also did not drain properly so when you showered you stood in some water that hadn’t been drained yet. Some of the dishes in the cupboards weren’t clean. Doors had a layer of grime. It was a dated unit (large mirrors/older cupboards + decor/carpet), I understood that, but it was not well maintained/ cleaned at all. Would not return. We ended up staying elsewhere in Maui for 1/2 the price and was a much better stay.

Pros: First glance looks beautiful. On our 25th wedding anniversary here and lots of space. Gorgeous views … splurge on the Oceanside. Left a nice bottle of champagne for our celebration. Laundry is nice and the Linai is convenient. Cons: secluded from other visitors. (Con for us anyway as we are social). LOUD window air conditioning. Broken fridge - all electronics fritzed one day in and it is a ghost town in service. Self check in was great but when following email instructions after 3pm for maintenance it kept kicking us back to the main menu. Had to turn off the fridge due to clunking and when finally reached a person the next morning (Melissa) she seemed less than enthused to help. We had l/m the night before and no one bothered to reach out. You’re kind of on your own here and not our cup of tea personally.
