This was a second visit for us. We came last year and enjoyed it so much that we returned. We were not disappointed. The hotel can accommodate around 100 guests, and was quite full during our stay, but we never felt that it was crowded. It is a peaceful haven....

This was a second visit for us. We came last year and enjoyed it so much that we returned. We were not disappointed. The hotel can accommodate around 100 guests, and was quite full during our stay, but we never felt that it was crowded. It is a peaceful haven. The over-water villas are superb, with their own little swimming pools and direct access to the house reef. And the house reef is really good. We were on full board so tried all of the restaurants. For dinner you can choose the buffet in the main restaurant; the Asian fusion restaurant close to the beach, or the Italian restaurant. The staff are fantastic, and each villa has a dedicated "butler" to make sure everything goes smoothly.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Kagi – it truly felt like paradise! From the moment you step onto the island you are in pure paradise. Kagi is a small boutique island and it’s perfect if you are looking for a relaxed and stress free holiday. The staff are a credit to the island. Nothing is to much trouble. You are greeted with a warm smile throughout the island. The staff make the island such a special place. The house reef makes for amazing snorkelling. Swimming with the turtles was a highlight of the holiday. We also saw reef sharks, dolphins & rays from our villa. The food & drinks was exceptional. Both the buffet & A al Carte restaurants was fresh, well presented and had good variety. We had the Tomahawk Wagyu Steak for two in Ke-Un and this was cooked to perfection. The island itself is beautiful, clean and well kept. The colour of the ocean has to be seen to believe. The different colours are breathtaking. We did the excursion to the sandbank. We highly recommend this to everyone. Being on a remote sandbank in the middle of the Indian Ocean is an experience we will never forget. We look forward to visiting Kagi again in the future and will recommend the island to family and friends. Thank you Kagi for the best holiday we could have ask for

We have just returned from a week's stay at Kagi, from 27th Jan to 3rd Feb. We stayed in villa 317, Ocean Pool Villa on the sunrise side. We chose Kagi specifically for it's peaceful setting. No loud parties, serene settings, and even at near full occupancy due to high...

We have just returned from a week's stay at Kagi, from 27th Jan to 3rd Feb. We stayed in villa 317, Ocean Pool Villa on the sunrise side. We chose Kagi specifically for it's peaceful setting. No loud parties, serene settings, and even at near full occupancy due to high season and Chinese New Year, it never ever feels crowded, and with only 50 villas, you'll always feel like it's your own private island. Transfer : Being Chinese New Year and high season, and not quite sure how long the wait would be for the seaplane, we decided that we would go with the speedboat transfer. So glad we went for this option! Right out of immigration, we were greeted and ushered straight to the speedboat, and we were on our way in less than 10 minutes! The speedboat ride was smooth, and we reached the resort in about 50 minutes. Arrival : After being met by the usual welcome staff waiting at the Jetty, we were given a short walk-around tour by our island host, Li, showing us all the locations of interests around the small resort, before ushering us to our Ocean Pool Villa. App : Kagi has their own app, which we downloaded weeks before our arrival, where we could see all the food/drinks menus, activities, book excursions, etc. We actually booked our lunch/dinner slots even before we arrived. The app works well, so we would suggest that you download it, it will be very useful during your stay. Food & Beverage : We were initially on the Full Board plan, but decided to upgrade to the Premium All Inclusive (PAI). The plan gave us the flexibility to eat and drink an extended menu without having to worry about prices too much. Even if you don't drink alcohol, it would still be worthwhile to consider the PAI because they have an extensive list of mocktails, juices, non-alcoholic drinks. Generally, food is good, as expected at any 5-Star resort in the Maldives. We won't go into too much detail about the food, the past reviews will tell you that the food quality is pretty good. We dined at all the outlets during our stay. We do have to mention that the pizza at Nonna was strangely under-par compared to the rest of the menu. We found it disappointing and hate to say this, more akin to a frozen pizza (We eat pizza quite often, but this, we stopped after a single slice) and certainly not Italian in any way. On the other hand, we have to say that the Veal Ossobuco was excellent, done brilliantly, a real masterpiece! We also have to bring up this one dish at Ke-un, The Malaysian Laksa. Coming from Singapore, this is a dish we are very familiar with. We appreciate the unique presentation, but we think the ingredients are way off the mark. Laksa is a simple dish with complex flavors. It's a dish easily available here in Singapore/Malaysia, consisting of simple ingredients, an aromatic coconut curry broth, boiled egg, prawns, sliced fish cake, fried tofu pieces, laksa leaves, beansprouts and sambal paste on the side. The version here in Ke-Un, comes with mussels, scallops and fish pieces, which really doesn't have a place in Laksa. We appreciate the fusion attempt at the dish, which then should be called seafood laksa or Kagi laksa instead of Malaysian Laksa. Understandably, to add value to the dish (Which costs USD$50), but it pretty much doesn't do this iconic south-east Asian dish any justice. Our suggestion, keep it simple, add value by maybe using more prawns or tiger prawns instead, and stick to this single protein. Adding more ingredients that have no place in this dish, would be the old saying, "too many cooks, spoil the broth." The table beside us for dinner, a couple from Japan, who have eaten laksa in Singapore, were equally unimpressed and perplexed by this rendition. Kagi have an amazing repertoire of chefs from all around Asia working in their kitchens, but this recipe seems to have been created by someone who has never eaten laksa before. Beverages are the stars that really shone at Kagi. All the cocktails/mocktails were very well executed, tasted wonderful and quality was consistent on repeat orders. We also really enjoyed the food at Ufaa Bar. I think it's pretty understated, since it's only a snack menu, but we found it ideal to have lunch here most of the time. The Kagi Wings, look really simple in their presentation, but the umami taste was on point! Anyone who craves fried chicken will absolutely love this. We also enjoyed the club sandwich and really loved the Kagi Special burger, and the fries were perfect every single time! Room : We stay in the Ocean Pool Villa. Due to the high occupancy, we could not get the room we requested for in advance on the sunset side, but it was probably a blessing in disguise, because our villa on the sunrise side gave us easy access to the reef, which we spent many hours snorkelling every day during our stay. This isn't our first visit to the Maldives, and in all our previous stays elsewhere, we have always stayed in an over-water pool villa, because we loved to have our own pool with a sundeck. The ocean pool villas here are constructed much lower and closer to the water level than in any of other resorts we've stayed before here in the Maldives. Noticeably, during high tide at night, you will hear the waves hitting the underside of the villa. Having stayed at quite a few other over-water pool villas in the Maldives, we have never encountered anything like this before. We were initially quite shocked by the sound, it wasn't the gentle lapping of waves we were used to. It's audibly loud at night, much like someone thumping or kicking on the door, or on a lower scale, someone throwing a basketball at the wall, repeatedly, every minute, for about 3 hours, or till the tide or wind subsides. We love the sound of the ocean, we have often stayed in OWVs, or close to the beach, but this wasn't the natural sound of lapping waves or the sea hitting the beach, this was the waves hitting the concrete underside of the villa. On the nights when it was windy, the seas were rough and the tides were high, it was quite disruptive, and we were woken up a few times. Luckily, it wasn't like this every night, but we did encounter this a couple of nights during our week's stay, so it was manageable for us. It's not like that every night, so if the seas are calm, it won't be so noticeable. So, if you're a light sleeper, either consider using earplugs or you may want to consider the beach villas or lagoon pool villas, where the waves aren't as strong as there are seawalls in front of them. The other issue, which relates to safety, is to do with the ladder used to access the ocean from our villa. We have mentioned this to our host prior to our departure, but feel that we need to mention it here. The ladder has 5 rungs/steps leading to the ocean and it's too short. If you decide to go down this ladder to the ocean during low tide, you will have difficulty trying to get back up. The problem is that the ladder during low tide, the lowest step in relation to the water level, is at chest level, meaning you would need to pull your knees all the way up to your chest level to get on the last step ( which is hard enough as it is) and then hopefully have enough arm strength to pull yourself up. It's a gymnastic feat to pull yourself out of the water. A reviewer here mentioned this issue in Feb 2024, they stayed in villa 319, which is just next to where we stayed (317). It's more than a year ago since that review, the issue has obviously not been addressed. I can imagine this would pose an issue for seniors, or even anyone else who is not athletically agile. The ladder either needs to have more rungs/steps, that extends to the seabed and/or 3 more steps/rungs. I can imagine the panic someone might have, when they realize they cannot get out of the ocean, and the only other option would be to swim back to the beach, and what if the person isn't strong enough or confident swimmer to make it back to the beach? For safety reasons, I strongly suggest management needs to look into this ASAP. My only option during my stay here, was to closely monitor the tides, and not to go down when the tide was low, it's still 50/50 if i can pull myself out of the ocean, unless you only want to go down when it's high tide, and then you never have an issue, but not everyone wants to only go down when it's high tide because it's nice to enjoy the sea when it's low tide too, especially those who aren't strong swimmers, and you can enjoy standing in the ocean during low tide. Departure : We chose the speedboat option, and we are so glad we did. Our flight out was at 1pm. Our speedboat was arranged at 9.30am. This gave us some extra time in the morning to enjoy the last bit of our stay. We specifically chose to stay at Kagi because of the availability of the speedboat transfer, and its proximity to Male. We have stayed at other resorts which require seaplanes, and have departed as early as 7am for the same flight. This transfer option by speedboat is really an attractive option for many people who don't want to be at the mercy of seaplane timings, and we hope that management knows this, and this option will always be available in the future. Credits : Some of the staff working here stood out more than others. Being from the F&B industry personally, they are the ones we appreciate the most, being the backbone of any good resort. Credit to the amazing crew at Ufaa Bar, Dennis, Basil and Nimal, we will miss you guys the most, you guys are the absolute superstars! Zune, who rotates between all the outlets, always with a smile and working tirelessly. Kebin, the chef at Noofaru, the perfectionist and all-rounder, who makes our eggs perfectly every morning, and cuts the fruits with flair, this guy has great potential! Our housekeeper, Ahmed, who goes about keeping our room immaculately clean every day, and also topping our mini-bar correctly every day. Our host, Li, whom we communicated with via Whatsapp whenever we needed anything, and was always contactable. The different guys who delivered the endless buckets of ice we requested to the room every day. We were supposed to stay at Kagi in 2020, but had to cancel due to travel restrictions due to covid. We're so glad we finally made it here 5yrs later! We stayed at Jawakara last year, so we knew what to expect, since they are both owned by C&C. We have always kept our reviews as objective as possible. We hope readers and management understand that the "issues" mentioned above aren't being critical of Kagi in any way. We know that C&C are seasoned hoteliers, and getting feedback, both good and not so good, is the way forward, any improvements, only makes the resort better for everyone. We enjoyed our stay tremendously, and none of the "issues" mentioned above detracted us from having a great time. The small island charm, the peacefulness, the enchanting reef, the wonderful crew, the speedboat option to Male, will be the factors leading us back here again in the future. If the right deal comes along, we will return to Kagi in a heartbeat! Thank you Kagi, for having us, it's been a real pleasure staying at your resort. The resort's snorkeling guides were incredibly knowledgeable, ensuring both safety and an unforgettable underwater adventure. As for the dining experience, it was a culinary journey like no other. The resort's main restaurant offered a diverse array of international and local Maldivian cuisine, all prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We really liked the laidback atmosphere of the resort. The beach villa was very nice, with nice furniture and design, plus a nice outdoor area. Food at breakfast was a bit disappointing in terms of quality and choice. However dinner at the main restaurant was always excellent, with plenty of choice for every taste and much higher quality food. We had lunch at either the bar or at the Spa, it's difficult sometimes to get a table at the Spa and honestly the portions can be bigger for the price. Also service there is super slow. Snorkeling is great with very easy access and decent amount of sea life, including turtles, sharks and rays. Very healthy coral regrowth as well. The reef is kind of deep and it's very pretty, one of our favorites in the Maldives for sure. We can definitely go back to this resort in the future. I hope they don't build more stuff, as of right now it has the perfect balance of villas for the size.

We booked the all-inclusive water villa for our honeymoon and it was all worth it. The island is very suitable for newly weds or couples who want to have a quiet environment. The service provided is good and exclusive. With just a call or message away, you’ll be able to reach your butler. Ikram was the one who’s taking care of our stay at Kagi and we want to shout out for her excellent service. They also have a mobile app which you can use to make restaurant reservations or book activities at your convenience. Some of the activities are extended to all-inclusive guests complimentary. We recommend making your reservations prior to arrival to avoid disappointment due to full bookings. Food wise, for the buffet breakfast and dinner, it’s pretty normal with good spread of choices, but the ala carte lunch at the spa corner is fantastic. They also provide free high tea for all-inclusive guests. The downside is that the seaplane schedule depends on sea conditions, so you may have to wait longer due to delays. Otherwise, it’s overall a great stay at Kagi!

Following a turbulent time at home we treated ourselves to this special holiday. We had not been to the Maldives before and had grand expectations, and am pleased to say they were not just met but exceeded. The resort is built to an extremely high specification, and that was nice, but we were particularly struck by the welcoming attitude of all the staff. Our butler, Shenan, was especially focused on ensuring we had everything we might want, but so to were the rest of the staff. Waiters, bar staff, villa attendants, management and even the gardeners. Snorkelling was great on the impressive house reef, even though we didn't see the turtles, but many others did. The restaurants too were first class serving varied cuisine with immense pride.

We have just returned to Canada from 10 days at this glorious resort. Arrival was seamless with transfers covered and choreographed by the resort. We arrived early morning and our over water lagoon villa wasn't ready yet, so our Pure Life Ambassador Sonam brought us to the buffet so we could have some breakfast as it was being prepared. We ate, and were led to our villa (220). To say that the layout and location were dreamlike is an understatement! A warm ocean breeze and steps directly to the lagoon, beautifully laid out, a fully stocked bar was replenished daily (we were booked premium AI), a comfortable bed and sitting area, two showers (indoor and out), it made us feel like were alone in paradise! Twice daily cleaning and turn-down were wonderful. We did avail ourselves of the Spa on our second day. We both felt that it was one of the best spa experiences we have ever had. We were pre-booked for a la carte restaurants, but enjoyed the buffet so mach that we ended up cancelling our bookings and just eating at the buffet. The food choices were constantly changed, with something for everyone. My wife doesn't like "spicy" food and my one concern was that she would not be able to find things to enjoy. I worried needlessly, as she always found a wide selection of food which she loved while I was able to experience some of the more "local" fare. We just can't say enough about the service, flavours and variety. Floor staff are friendly and engaging while constantly providing excellent service. Cook staff showed real love for their craft, and it was reflected in their excellent presentation and taste. We celebrated our 10th anniversary while we were here and the resort went above and beyond to share in our celebration. From the bottle of champagne and chocolates in our room in the afternoon, the beautifully decorated table in the buffet, the out-of-this-world decorations on the bed when we returned to our room, everyone made us feel as if it was their special day as well as ours. Thank you! We were able to borrow snorkelling equipment from the dive shop for the duration of our stay, and spent days exploring the lagoon and reefs. The abundance of life was astonishing! Rays, nurse and reef sharks, trigger fish, parrot fish, a turtle and countless others (I'm still going through my under water footage!). We just can't thank all of the wonderful staff enough for a truly memorable experience. We never thought we would experience a trip to the Maldives, and now we can't wait to go back! Everything from start to finish has made us true fans of this resort and will definitely visit again! Thank you to everyone that made our trip memorable. We can't wait to see you again! Just returned from 8 nights of pure pleasure at Kagi! Everything from the huge beautiful water villa to the immaculate and utmost professional service of the entire staff was just perfect. The island in one word; STUNNING. Sand like powder sugar under your feet, the water so so blue and the house reef one of the best, if not the best in the whole Maldives. The food was varied and delicious, with lots of healthy options, however No. 1 for us was the amazing snorkelling (incl. at night) and abundant underwater seaworld on the house reef right in front of our villa (giant turtles, sting rays, sharks, parrot fish, angel fish and so many tropical fish and coral formations in general). We have recently returned from a 10 nights stay in Kagi Maldives. We would just like to say what a fabulous time we had while we were on the island. All of the staff did their upmost to make our stay perfect. The food was fabulous under the watchful eye of head chef Micheal Who was always available for a chat with the guests. The rooms were outstanding and nothing was overlooked. Snorkelling on the reef was always breathtaking and certainly the best house reef that we have seen in the Maldives. we had such a marvellous holiday and can’t wait to go back thank you, Kagi❤️
