Reviews of InterContinental Tokyo Bay, an IHG Hotel
Stayed for 3 nights. Outstanding experience - the room, F&B, and overall service. In particular, the food and service at Nagomi Lounge was exceptional - many thanks to Sumirie and Hoyoung who are a credit to the hotel. We will certainly return in July 25 when we next visit Tokyo!
Great location, excellent facilities, friendly welcoming staff

Had an amazing stay at this hotel - can't fault anything. Located is excellent for access around Tokyo - tube just around corner, or main next work tube trains 10 minutes walk away (also access to Haneda monorail) Staff are extremely welcoming. Rooms are well equipped with very comfortable beds, TV, fridge, kettle & mini bar. Bathroom had toiletries, bath & separate shower. Although not cheap, I would advise if you can to upgrade rooms to the bay view - great to watch the boat traffic & Rainbow bridge. Breakfast had an amazing choice of hot & cold food. There is a lobby lounge, bar & restaurant, fitness room. Easy access to the waterfront footpaths. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & the excellent service & facilities of the hotel

Use of Club lounge was good for a more personalised touch including champagne and delicious High Teas. Staff were incredible. They were very courteous, polite, respectful and eager to please. We were allowed an early check in and late checkout. All the staff went above and beyond. A massive thank you to all of them for making our first time in Tokyo so enjoyable. Highly recommended!

The chain never fails to deliver and this hotel was no exception. We were given a wonderful room with a great view over the bay. I especially liked the toilet with its heated seat and wash facilities. 👍 Despite arriving at 7am, the hotel staff were able to offer us our room which was appreciated after a fourteen hour flight. The staff were extremely polite and very helpful first the duration of our stay. The ground floor bar was great and the restaurant food, delicious. We had a free flow champagne evening tea in The Manhattan. The waiter was superb in keeping us topped up for the duration of the allocated time. Location of the hotel is good; we were able to walk to the train station in about 10 minutes. This is not a cheap hotel but it is worth every penny. You will not be disappointed.

We stayed in this well appointed hotel for 4 nights. The positives were: 1. The room was spotlessly clean, well appointed and linens beautiful. 2. The staff were lovely. 3. Breakfast was good (apart from the bread, see below) The negatives were: 1. The number of differently branded restaurants in a small space was confusing 2. The Italian offering was average at best. We used it twice. The service was terrible. The ambiance was non existent. There was no pepper Grinder on the table and no Parmesan cheese. Basically, there was no understanding of Italian food but that was probably our fault for using the restaurant. 3. The bar closes so early. If one is one vacation it’s fun to stay up past 21.00 and have a glass of wine. 4. The gym is too small. 5. The breakfast presentation has a beautiful display of bread that looks amazing. However, it’s for display purposes only. The actual bread is horrible and processed. I would suggest either removing the fake bread presentation or improving the offering. Even low brand hotels like Hampton Hilton prepare freshly baked bread and this was an Intercontinental! For the above reasons I don’t recommend this hotel.

Superb 5* hotel. Excellent location. Top level service from polite, efficient and friendly staff. We stayed at this hotel for a few nights in mid March 2024. The rooms are very well equipped and spacious, with excellent bathroom facilities. We had a 21st floor room with a bay, or as they put it, a river view, that gave an excellent window onto the nighttime city sky scape. We will definitely use this hotel when we return to Tokyo next year.

Though a bit of a hassle in finding the hotel via public transportation, but its all worth it as you get familiarised with the stations available nearby. Check in at about 7+pm and it was already dark outside. Very cheerful and welcoming FO who did my registrations and room decor with a touch of Japanese culture #1422 with a bay view that was awesome. Housekeeping for my stay between 19-24th Feb was excellent and communications with reservations and Bell team at the very best. Though the weather was cold throughout our stay, the warmth staffs made it worthwhile.

Lovely hotel with amazing bay views, spacious rooms and offering the usual IHG standard. Shuttle service to JR train station Hamamatsucho where one can connect to the Monorail or the JR train network. 3 stops to Tokyo main station. Metro station and cruise terminal nearby, too.
right next to the water with beautiful views. Rooms very large compared to the Japanese norm. Service good. The bar was a great surprise as the bartender turned out to be an artist extrordinaire turning cosmos into works of art.

This was our second IHG on this trip, we stayed at the ANA at the beginning. This hotel does have an excellent view of Tokyo Bay but everything else falls short of the sister hotel the ANA. Again we stayed in a club room for access to the lounge. The staff were great, hard working but the language barrier made things a bit more difficult. The food in the lounge was fine but not quite up to par, I had the toughest pancakes in my life here. The hotel is nice enough but there was something missing and the gym was a converted hotel room in a back corner beside the dog lounge. The main floor of the hotel is impressive to be sure and the restaurants there had amazing decor. If I returned to Tokyo I would choose the ANA over the Tokyo Bay.

So when you first arrive at this Hotel, it is easy to be impressed with the Lobby area which is full of comfortable seating however the initial Wow soon wears off. The room we had which was supposed to be a superior room was actually quite dull and without any character or styling, yes the bedding was comfortable and the Bathroom sufficient. However it is the lacking in customer care that concerned me, personally I need to get Coffee first thing in the morning and I rarely find a quality hotel that cant serve coffee to guests in the Lobby area in the morning. The only way to get a coffee was as a take out from the 3rd floor Breakfast Buffet area, where the staff tell you that you will be charged for a full breakfast, which obviously I challenged. but was still charged twice as much as i expected. Then if you are lucky enough to get a coffee there is nowhere to sit and relax with it, The lovely lobby area is closed off with barriers and ropes until 11am. Therefore I was forced to sit on a side chair near reception which is normally for those checking in, In fact that chair was so worn out that the whole seating pad had failed and you literally were sitting on the frame, I brought this to the attention of the manager who simply showed no interest at all. People like myself often use hotels like this to host business meetings, that is not possible here, we could not get 3 seats together, despite the fact that there were many areas blocked of during the early hours. Tokyo is a very large city, so anyone’s choice of location depends on your need, but the Intercontinental is next door to a train station which hopefully will connect you to other areas. I returned to Tokyo after a few days, but decided to stay elsewhere, because this hotel didn’t value me as a customer.

This one-night stay capped off our trip to Japan before flying back to the US, and it was quite disappointing. I booked a Twin Classic River View room using the Chase Free Night certificate plus 23k points — a fairly decent value. Because I’m Platinum, we were told at check in that we were upgraded to the Twin Classic Bay view room. While I appreciated this, the hotel was not very full, and I saw plenty of better rooms available. After a bit of back-and-forth with the front desk clerk, we got an upgrade to a Premium Twin Bay View mid floor room (12th floor). While this was done grudgingly and without a smile, I appreciated this concession greatly. That is, until we got to the room. It was a big letdown after staying at Conrad Tokyo and Conrad Osaka on this trip and The Okura (and others) on the last trip. I knew it wasn’t going to be the same level given the four circles Trip Advisor, but the pictures on their Website were much more attractive than the reality: — Those pictures that seem to show hardwood floor are actually showing carpet in the hardwood floor pattern. I do actually prefer carpet, but the picture looked much nicer and more modern than the reality. — The room felt much smaller than the 42 sq meters shown on the website. — The furnishings are tired, scratched up and stained, especially the coffee table. — Unlike all the other hotels on our last trip, this one was not spotlessly clean. There were big food crumbs, for example, on the bay window sill. Other issues we had with the room were as follows: — THEY CHARGE FOR NESPRESSO CAPSULES! I really couldn’t believe my eyes, but the minibar menu listed Nespresso capsules for 400 yen each. — The mattresses were clearly quite old and, while they used to be pillow-top, those tops were no longer effective. — By far worst of all issues is that the shower water pressure was pathetic — it was US-hotel level. One of the best things that we found in the other two hotels on this trip and three hotels on the last trip was the amazing water pressure in the showers. I finally learned to appreciate rainfall shower heads as the other hotels (which this one didn’t have) because of the amazing water pressure. — The bathroom was overall small, poorly laid out and with a sink that had almost no countertop space. In addition, unlike the main room, the bathroom’s big window didn’t have a blackout curtain which made the room very bright at night. As you can see, a lot of negatives. The only positives were: (1) The hotel was just as quiet at night as the other Japanese hotels we stayed at, (2) Some of the staff were truly amazingly helpful. One lady went out of her way to walk us from the lobby to the 3rd floor exit from the hotel to the train station (which requires walking through the entire 3rd floor with some twists). Overall, this is not even remotely close to the 5-star hotel it claims to be. It’s a solid 4-star hotel similar to a typical Marriott / Westin in the US. There are WAY better options for similar amount of money, if you’re paying cash. I’m very sad this was how we spent our last night there. Should’ve just let the free night expire and stay at the Okura or Conrad again.
