President Intercontinental Hotel in Mexico City is a luxurious hotel in the heart of Polanco Uptown neighborhood in Mexico City. It is an old hotel, very well maintained, with constant refurbishing in its installments. Awesome view to Reforma Avenue, military grass field Campo Marte and its monumental Mexican Flag, National Auditorium and Chapultepec park. Reminds me to the view to Central Park in New York City and Xi An sports park in Xi An China, but 10 times bigger.

As always an exceptional visit at my favorite hotel
As always, we really loved our stay at this hotel..actually my favorite of all the IC hotels. The general manager, Senor Rey, and all of the staff are exceptional! Everytime that we're here it is like visiting close friends. I look forward to returning in 2025. Best, Professor Mann

Our wedding was not in the Hotel but still we decided to work with them to host us and our guests. The events staff was always on top of things and vigilant of every detail. They catered to our every need. Throughout the planning process we were in constant communication sharing information and plans for our guests. Our room was just perfect! Since it was going to be our bridal suite we decided to indulge on an upgrade and stayed at one of their suites... what a beautiful room! And it was massive! Best feature... the Hotel is pet friendly! The room had a half bathroom by the entrance, a dining room and a living room. On the other side of that wall was the huge bedroom with a big shower in the middle, a huge walking closet on one side and a large bathroom on the other. Alongside the whole room we had long windows presenting a breathtaking view of Auditorio Nacional, Campo Marte with its massive Mexican Flag, Aztlan, Chapultepec and a big chunk of Mexico City. Couldn't get enough of that view. Being in the suite also gave us access to the Club Lounge, serving breakfast in the morning and snacks/coffee/drinks in the afternoon. Club Lounge was particularly useful to meet family members and/or friends to discuss logistics aspects of the celebrations. Intercontinental Presidente is located right in the center of the action. It's located in the popular neighborhood of Polanco, just one block from Parque Lincoln, where you can find fancy and trendy restaurants and bars, like their new sister hotel Kimpton. By the back entrance of the Hotel you have Paseo de la Reforma, one of the most popular avenues in Mexico City, which leads you Westbound to the beautiful residential neighborhood of Lomas de Chapultepec and the financial/business district of Santa Fe and Eastbound to Centro Historico and the popular neighborhoods of Roma and Condesa. Added to their strategic location and easiness to move, Presidente is host to one of the most impressive varieties of restaurants in one venue, with famous globally known names like Au Pied de Cochon (open 24 hours), Alfredo di Roma (with an enviable wine list), Chapulin (quickly turning into a reference of Mexican food), The Palm (a well known NYC brand), Tokoya (combining Japanese cuisine with fancy cocktails), Amaral (their brand new Mediterranean jewel), Lilou (where you can enjoy high tea) and Cafe Urbano (a more casual, laid back option). With all that being said, Intercontinental Presidente turns into a fusion between their in-house magnificent culinary offer and the hundreds of premium offers in Polanco and surroundings. ALL the staff... Bell Men, Door Men, Concierge, Front Desk, Housekeeping, Servers, Security, Events, Management... We had to interact with all of them and ALL OF THEM were delightful to work with. Wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else in Mexico City.

I have stayed at this hotel before on business. As a Platinum Ambassador, I check in at the Ambassador desk. I had already paid for King Classic Polanco View with Club Access because it was my birthday week, so I wanted my stay to be lovely. I asked the gentleman checking in if my room was upgraded, and he said yes. The only difference, I believe, was they changed me to the park view, which wasn't an upgrade. I know it's only a request, but the hotel was not sold out and was selling upgraded rooms. The first issue was when we got to the room, we noticed the comforter had blood stains, something spilled on the wall next to the chair, and the entry floor didn't look like it had been mopped. The second issue was a recurring problem. I asked multiple times for extra water and coffee every day to be left in the room, but I had to request it again every day we got back to the room. Also, they took the glass coffee cup and never replaced it. I asked twice to bring two coffee buts, but they kept bringing paper cups. They finally gave me extra coffee but not water. Each evening, I told The Club Intercontinental manager that they still didn't do it, so he would have to have someone deliver water and coffee each day. I told him. The weekend manager was made aware of the issue, found us in the lounge, and spoke to us about it, but at this point, it was towards the end of our trip. He was very nice and offered up some Spa treatments to help make it right, which was nice. The final and most frustrating ending to my trip was when the HOTEL(not my credit card) charged me a conversion fee of Mexican Pesos to US dollars, which cost me an additional $255.00. I travel extensively globally and have NEVER had this happen. You always have a choice to choose the currency you want to get charged in, but I didn't know I didn't have a choice and found out once they sent me my final invoice, once they fixed some other incorrect charges on my bill. They just said it's what it is. Never heard back from them after I found out about the extra $255.00 charge and complained again. I am sorry, but this was a milestone birthday for me, and it was ruined by all these issues. I paid over $400 US per night and can honestly say I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I will never stay here again. There are several very nice hotels very close by.

This Intercontinental hotel is in a nice and green area of Mexico City. The hotel itself is not recent and it has difficulty hiding its age despite some renovations. The lobby is huge but old fashioned. When we arrived around 9 pm the music in the lobby was very loud. As an Intercontinental Ambassador we were told we would get an upgrade but when we came to the room we really couldn’t understand what the upgrade was. Maybe the fact that had a view of the park and one of the main roads. In fact we found this not advantage because of the street noise. The room itself was rather small with the bathroom positioned in an akward way. The acoustic insulation is bad so you can hear the banging of the doors. We had opted for lounge access and found the lounge crowded with children running around as well as people speaking loudly on their phones. We have stayed in a great many Intercontinental hotels around the world but this one was disappointing…

Unfortunately we experienced some of the worst customer service at this hotel. When we first checked in we got the customary “ thank you for being a Platinum Elite member” but were not offered a complimentary room upgrade unless we paid extra . We were told that there are upgraded rooms available but we will have to pay an additional $ US 100 per night. Never experienced that before. We of course declined paying that much for a “complimentary “ room upgrade that is included in “Platinum Elite Perks. “ So instead we got one of the worst rooms, looking out on a roof top , and came to find out after a sleepless night that we were next to the elevator bank. ( none of the room preferences on our account were honored). The next morning , after we complained about the sleepless night , we thankfully were moved to a much nicer room on high floor… We were happy with the room , and during our stay we tried the different restaurants in the hotel and had no issues until we checked out days later. At that point the day of our departure we decided to try the lounge and have breakfast before our trip back home ( lounge access was INCLUDED in our booking rate but we did not go during our stay wanting to just try the hotel restaurants instead ) When we got to the lounge to have breakfast we noticed that our key did not allow us in . Went downstairs to let them know about the access issue and that is when we received some of the worst customer service we ever experienced at an IHG hotel . We were told that we were not entitled to the lounge because we had been “upgraded. “ Of course we had no clue that we lost that privilege when we changed room. That explanation did not make any sense. No one said anything about loosing lounge access when we changed rooms ! Then after I showed them the screen shot of my booking that clearly showed “ lounge access” as part of my booking , we were told that we should never have gotten lounge access because we were in a “standard room “ and it must have been an IHG “ system” error !! We asked to talk to the manager, and the lady we were talking to said “ I am the manager “ ( we later found out she was not the manager but the assistant Manager - and after many requests she finally gave us her name - Isabel Esquivez). We again discussed the issue with her and she was extremely condescending and demeaning and kept on repeating that we only had a “ standard room” … insisting we do not have access to the lounge and it was a system error!! Anywhere else this should have honored .. especially if it was “ a system error” . After a while she finally relented and made it sound like she was doing us a huge favor by allowing us a breakfast in the lounge on the day of our departure!! This exchange with Ms Esquivel was extremely upsetting. Her tone and her repeating that we only paid for a “ standard room” was very unprofessional. The aim was to embarrass us in front of other customers . This behavior is totally unacceptable! And to make things worst , when I wanted to check my final bill after we left , I noticed that my stay at this hotel was DELETED from my IHG account !! DELETED !! Like we never stayed there!! I am hoping this issue will be escalated to the manager of the hotel asap so my stay is reinstated on my account asap . ( thankfully I kept all the booking emails and paper bill as proof) Additionally this retaliation tactic is extremely concerning considering sensitive personal and financial information were accessible for this stay .
