My partner and I stayed at Intercontinental Fiji for a week in February. It was our first time visiting Fiji and also staying in an all inclusive resort style. So we really didn’t know what to expect but we did a fair bit of homework prior to booking the Intercon. We don’t have children, and we’re in our mid 30’s, so we wanted somewhere that had some options for ‘adults only’ facilities. We also traveled outside of school holidays. We had a Garden View king room which was very spacious. Bed was huge but a little too firm for my liking. Same for the pillows. However my partner had no issues with the bed. The wardrobes are huge with lots of hangers. Also good desk space to place your belongings while you stay. Bathrooms are nice and big but a tiny bit outdated. Chipped basins and a little leak in one of the taps. Nothing major. One thing I would suggest is that the lighting in the bathroom be improved. Or at least better lighting around the vanity. Luckily I wasn’t planning on wearing much makeup during our stay, but it was a bit difficult to see especially in the evenings. The room balcony is big and has a lounge and outdoor bathtub which we used a couple of times. There is an outdoor curtain for privacy. Also use this if you don’t want the sun blaring through in the morning, as the shutters in the room allow for a lot of sunlight into the room even when fully closed. One thing I look forward to about staying at a luxury hotel is the blackout curtains, so it was a little frustrating being woken up early. There is a gorgeous infinity pool that overlooks the beach and is only available to adults. I spend 90% of my time here, reading, relaxing and drinking cocktails. The pool is situated right next to the resorts Bar & Grill restaurant so there’s plenty of food and drink options without having to leave your poolside bed. I will say, as relaxing and tranquil the pool was, there’s no music playing and it does close at sunset so there isn’t exactly a vibe for kicking on into the evening if that’s something you’re looking for. There seemed to be plenty of activities provided by the resort. We didn’t try many as they didn’t quite interest us. I would have loved for more of the activities to include more cultural insights into Fiji and the people. There are 3 restaurants and 1 bar on site. Breakfast is included and available at the buffet or the fine dining restaurant which we didn’t get an opportunity to try. Buffet breakfast had plenty of options, lots of fresh fruit for juices, omelette station etc pretty standard. We did have dinner at the fine dining restaurant early into our trip and it was terrific! Menu has an extensive selection of seafood options. Decent wine list too. The service was absolutely outstanding. The team helped to organise a birthday cake for my partner and everything was executed perfectly. There is a smart casual dress code for this restaurant which most guests seemed to adhere to. Overall, food was decent considering the volume of guests the resort would serve. The sharing style dishes at Kama Bar was probably our favourite meal of the trip. We booked a couples 60 minute relaxation massage at the Spa which was absolutely glorious. The complimentary Wai Zone hydrotherapy program includes steam room, ice rooms and heated jacuzzi which you can access before your treatment. The massage was excellent and the service was beautiful. Loved every minute of my time in the spa. We also played a round of golf at the nearby Natadola Beach Golf Club. This is such a stunning course with gorgeous scenery. A quite bit more expensive than your usual round of golf, but playing right along the beach made it worthwhile. Overall, the Intercon Fiji is a gorgeous, relaxing resort alongside one of the best parts of the Fiji coastline. There is quite a bit to do or do nothing at all like me and soak up the sunshine. It was maybe a tiny bit too quiet and a little difficult to meet other guests for a drink etc, as the vibe is very much about relaxation and tranquility. For our first time visiting a full inclusive resort, we had a really nice time. Given February is wet season for Fiji, we were blessed with sunshine soaked mornings and days and only a little drizzle in the late afternoon. This of course made our trip that much more enjoyable as we spent many hours at the pool or on the beach.

If you book directly with the Inter Continental they will charge you more than on line booking companies so DO NOT BOOK DIRECTLY with this hotel. They will tell you they use 'Dynamic Pricing' so in our case we paid NZ$3,200 for a 4 night stay and paid in full to secure the best rate. 3 months later all on line web site booking sites have the same room at the same resort for $2,400 so it is simple, do not book directly with the hotel. Other hotel brands have a genuine customer first attitude but IHG and in particuliar the Intercontinental Fiji simply don't care so be warned!!

Best resort on the island
Huge, but yet cosy. Ome never feels crowded. Some rooms are more equal than others, food is good, breakfast buffet sumptuous and a great beach. What else ? Plenty of activities offered and the only "drawback" is the price amd sometimes very big groups.
Service across the whole resort was excellent. Each day started with a flat white made by Amelia at the Lai Lai cafe by the infinity pool. Home away from home - excellent barista skills and warm conversation to match the weather. Another highlight was going snorkelling with Tex. Recommend the...
