I surprised my partner with a one-night stay prior to our extended visit in Da Nang city. It was truly exceptional. For 24 hours we experienced a six-star eutopia: sublime views to the South China Sea from the balcony of our luxuriously appointed corner suite, places to lounge and relax peppered throughout the resort, and staff that anticipated your every need (even ones you didn't realise you had!). Three must-do Food and Beverage activities are: cocktails at the Long Bar overlooking the beach; booking a Non-La table at Citron (see the incredible Google Reviews) for the five-course and free flowing beverages for dinner; and back up for breakfast the next morning at Citron (the most exquisite bakery items at a buffet...ever). Overall...WOW and stunning - thank you to the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort team for creating a wonderful memory.

Mochi is NOT ONLY extremely nice, warm, and helpful to us! More importantly, he always think for our possible/potential needs in advances , before we raised the issue, he already prepared the solution for us from time to time during our 3 nights here. He even helped me to get eyedrops from the city center and he didn’t want us to pay back. He rescued my red+dry eyes !min Vietnam !! I’m so glad that I have met him in this intercontinental !
Mochi’s hospitality made us wanted to go back again to this hotel ! As me being a frequent traveler, i stayed at more than 200 Five stars hotels , I really think Mochi can be an icon for any hotel’s hospitality standard , he shall be rewarded as the staff model for other staff to learn from him.

This property is worthy of its legendary reputation as an aspirational resort for travel pilgrims. My only reason to get to this part of Vietnam is to experience InterContinental Danang and it did not disappoint. Certainly top 2 or 3 InterContinentals, if not the best. Great location up in the remote mountain of Son Tra Peninsula that is perfect for peace and solitude while soaking in a healthy dose of nature, maybe too much nature if you get terrorized by those damn monkeys, while not too far from Danang for modern convenience and services and Hoi An for historic charms and culture. Star attractions here are the resort and its amenities, the endangered douc langurs, and the ubiquitous gray monkeys. Depends on your experience, they could be a nightmare for you. The food was high quality and breakfast was delicious.
Another highlight for me were some of the typical services I experienced by the wonderful people I came across. Some nice and polite folks I met are Tam in Guest Service, Nam & Mai in concierge & Thien in breakfast. The beaming Quynh Tran in breakfast was resourceful and lit up the room with so much charms and joys. Tien in Activities & Tien by the pool (whose wife works in Kids Club) were engaging and constantly made sure that I’m cared for. Quan the naturalist & Thanh the bellman did their jobs well and were insightful during the tours. The same with Thanh in Rescue & Linh the driver. We had some fun and memorable talk. Maybe because I speak Vietnamese so it’s easier for them to be comfortable to initiate and open up. One particular standout is Khoa Huynh in breakfast. He constantly checked in on us and genuinely cared for us & took great care of us. He made us feel like we’re the only ones dining when in fact it was packed.
Most notable is the unreal Dong Nguyen. She is a special young lady. She was super friendly, helpful and attentive toward me and other guests. Even though I was not a guest that she was assigned to host or look after individually but a casual chat made me feel like we knew one another forever or that I am family. Her natural warmth, her ability to put guests at ease from arrival anxiety, her interpersonal and customer care skills show that she is well equipped for specialized responsibilities like those of veteran guest experience managers or seasoned butlers where guests’ preference and personalization are realized and understood. Her commitment to excellent customer care restores my hope that the best Vietnamese hospitality can match the service culture in the Philippines and Indonesia.
Improvements can be made to provide shuttle into Danang (maybe you can ask the free shuttle driver to stop on the way to Hoi An). Breakfast is a little low in variety and number of dishes for resorts of this caliber, maybe intentionally so to focus on quality. There are no Vietnamese pastries whatsoever. This is Vietnam afterall. Even most western tourists want to experience as much of Vietnamese food as possible. We weren’t greeted or acknowledged in person by upper management during our stay, even when passed by on several occasions. I reached out to the GM prior to coming but did not hear back. To be fair, it was a busy period in preparation for Tet and they were probably dividing and conquering. All in all, I think chief Hamdy does a great job in running a well-oiled machine there and would not even think twice about returning, even if only for the superstars.

Holy smokes-- the most luxurious hotel experience I've ever had. From the moment you arrive and are escorted to a couch and served tea-- while they check you in and orient you-- you're in a different world. The resort is on a private bay, surrounded by national park forest. The scenery is beyond belief and everything has been thought through for maximal aesthetic joy. Our room was huge with a magnificent view of the bay and our bathroom was an experience of its own. I lay in the bathtub looking out over the water, feeling like a million bucks. The grounds are extensive but all you need to do is call and they send a buggy to pick you up and take you wherever you want to go: the huge pool, the bar beneath it, the Michelin starred restaurant, the spa... you name it. We did not have great weather, but the one sunny day we sat on the beach and wished we'd never have to leave. I had 2 spa experiences and they were transcendent. Out of this world.
The only down side is the monkeys. YOu'd think they would be cute, and they are, but they're also brazen. We could not eat on our gorgeous balcony. Monkeys came one morning when I was reading and I chased them away, but they came back with reinforcements. I fled indoors and watched as they opened the cabinet, then the mini fridge, then knocked cans of soda out onto the ground, bit through the sides of the can, and lapped up the soda. We called for help, which came immediately and they chased them away and cleaned up the mess, but you Do Not Want to bring food out there.
But other than that, we wanted to stay forever.
A highlight was drinking champagne in basket chairs, listening to the waves in the dark, outside La Maison 1888. We had a delightful meal, but that moment cherishing the anticipation was glorious.
If you get a chance to stay here, seize it. You'll remember it forever.
