Imperial Hotel Tokyo

Parfect stay in Tokyo, a hotel with everything we can ask for in tokyo. Very central and with nice restaurants near by. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Concierge helped with restaurants and transports. The pool is a nice thing for a relaxing time in busy Tokyo.

I had booked the Imperial hotel on Booking.com at a pretty reasonable price for a 8 night stay in the Tower Building- High Floor standard double room. When we checked in the evening after a long flight in to Narita. It is an older hotel who will be going through renovations in 2025. Most of the rooms in the 2 Tower Buildings are blocked off, as they are getting ready for renovating the rooms. We had checked in and everything went smoothly. We were assisted by 2 lovely females to our room. We opened the door and immediately the room had a very odd smell. There was a nice table with 2 chairs by the window where we got a pretty night view of Ginza. No USB plugs, which is what I packed.My husband immediately started coughing and sneezing, which usually means mold in the ac duct system. He's been pretty spot on for detecting mold at hotels. I immediately called the front desk and asked for the manager of the hotel. They sent someone from housekeeping because I mentioned I did not have anything to charge my phone, only my USB cord, but there was no plugs for that. Housekeeping came up and I had to explain to them about the room and the smell of mold and mustiness. They sent the hotel manager up so I could explain in person. From my own experiences, when traveling to Japan, it's best to speak face to face vs. over the phone. I wanted the manager to smell what we were smelling. He then stated he had another room for us and was moving us to the main building. Granted this is an older 5 star hotel, the main building is beautiful and grand from the moment you walk in. The manager brought us the 15th floor through glass doors to the Imperial floor Suite 1560. I was shocked and not anticipating this room change to a Suite, when I had booked the cheapest room I could find with the Buffet Breakfast. The service recovery done by management was quick and exceeded our expectations. The Suite was large and beautiful. I felt like a VIP as I walked through the double glass doors down to the very end of the hallway to our room. We were greeted by 2 lovely ladies dressed in kimonos who brought us hot green tea and rice cracker snacks. We also had the privilege of calling the "9" to order 1 drink free every night from like 5-7 pm, which we did and it was a nice tough to a long day of shopping and sightseeing. The Imperial Viking restaurant on the top floor of the main building, 17th floor, is hands down the very best breakfast buffet I have ever had period!! The spread of food from the fresh tofu, crispy bacon, eggs made anyway you like, assortment of Japanese vegetables, the most crispy top (and the best I ever had) and moist inside that I ever had in a croissant. I keep comparing the croissants I eat to that one. I kept seeing these vinegar drinks. So on the second to the last day, I decided to give it a try. I really liked the Blueberry Vinegar one. You pour it in a shot glass and drink it quickly... Yummy!! It gets crowded after 8:30 am, so head down early to avoid the crowds. Thank you Imperial Hotel for a wonderful and memorable stay! I truly appreciated the over the top service recovery, which made our stay 10/10.

The hotel room was pristine but just a tad dated. Our room was small but very well maintained. The service was top notch and the location is very good. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The Imperial is a classy older 5 star hotel that is very comfortable.

We stayed here recently and found the hotel to be excellent. It is in a great position with any number of restaurants and attractions nearby. The staff were welcoming, warm and helpful, the room large and clean and the breakfast excellent. Well worth staying here

Unless you want to spend 2,250 Japanese Yen, about £11.60, per coffee/tea. Granted, they didn’t force...

Great location, lovely breakfast, etc. We sent our luggage on to our next destination, which was great. *WARNING* If you fancy a coffee or tea in the lounge restaurant, DON’T. Unless you want to spend 2,250 Japanese Yen, about £11.60, per coffee/tea. Granted, they didn’t force us to buy one, but the price is crazy. Especially when you consider you can send a case across Japan for 2,500 YEN, or get a glass of French red wine in the bar for 2,000 YEN. Just letting you know.

What a wonderful hotel. The staff were outstanding. The hotel beautiful. The breakfast was excellent in the buffet restaurant. The whole operation clearly managed by the imperious head waiter. Thoroughly recommend this hotel. It was wet the day we were there and I was leant an umbrella.

We had a larger room which was nicely arranged with good street views across the road from the Imperial Palace . However, several aspects of the offering were poor. I felt gated all the time, the staff were repeatedly re-directing you to places where THEY wanted you to be rather than where YOU wanted to be. We were allowed into the swishy champagne-bar in casual wear and sandals, but later we were told we could not enter the bar (cos of sandals; a dingy dark place that frankly did not look nice). We wanted a decent meal (after travelling all day from Korea) but were barred from the French restaurant (I was asked had I a jacket !) and were told the high-quality japanese restaurant only had a private room (at a price; every time I looked into this place it was empty). They sent us to the Viking Buffet (what?) on a top floor which was a bizarre affair, with a few decent dishes and a weird Pythonesque guy dressed as a French clown playing a loud accordion (more what?). The staff were very nice, but they had no vegetarian food and the fixed price was (like 100+ euro). It was literally the most expensive buffet I every ate in! I was given the impression that they were directing the foreigners to the places where they would not embarrass them. Made me feel quite unwelcome. The whole think was (to me) very old fashioned; the 70s concept of a "high-class" hotel...the ones that used to advertise "silver service". Cannot recommend unless you like this sort of nonsense.

This large first-class hotel is located in Chiyoda, central Tokyo, and has easy access to shopping districts, mass transit and all of the attractions that make Tokyo a famous tourist destination. Every aspect of my stay at the Imperial Hotel was flawless. The Hotel’s attention to details and the remarkable hospitality exhibited by the staff made my visit memorable in many ways. My Deluxe King room was in the main building and had every amenity one could possibly need, including an array of toiletries, all high quality and made in Japan. The lighting was excellent, the room and bathroom were spotless and twice daily room service was available without having to make a request. The mattress and pillows were also high quality and extremely comfortable. Although I have stayed at many five-star hotels, there are usually a few things not done quite right but the Imperial Hotel was the rare event where I did not have the slightest problem. It was a privilege to stay at the Imperial Hotel and experience such impeccable service. The room came with a free breakfast which included a wide assortment of delicious freshly prepared foods, desserts and fruits. The Imperial has many fine restaurants, but for a quick bite I especially enjoyed the Parkside Diner. Check in and check out was also flawless. Many Japanese don’t speak English just as many tourists do not speak Japanese so Google Translate is a must.

We’ve stayed here many times and were guests for two weeks on this trip. We really like it here. The people who work here are excellent. Thanks a lot to ( and you should ask for) concierge people Yono Akimoto (Chief Concierge), Ken Okada (Manager) and Shohei Ogawa (Manager). The location right next the Ginza is very special.
