If you're dreaming of the perfect island getaway, look no further. While this review is a bit delayed, I felt compelled to share the magic of this incredible place. From the moment we arrived until our departure, everything was impeccable. We stayed in a water villa, and the view was simply divine. Waking up to the vast, seemingly endless blue ocean was an incredible feeling. We initially worried that the sound of the water might disturb our sleep, but even as a light sleeper, I found it incredibly soothing and relaxing. The marine life surrounding the villa was a constant source of wonder. Various fish, in a kaleidoscope of colors, swam right up to the villa, and we even spotted small sharks a couple of times. A stork gracefully flew by on two occasions. Descending from the villa for snorkeling was incredibly convenient, and we were immediately immersed in an underwater wonderland. The underwater world here is a sight that must be seen to be believed. Fish of all sizes and colors darted among the coral. For an additional fee, we took a boat trip to a neighboring island to swim with sea turtles. But the magic didn't stop there; we were incredibly fortunate to encounter numerous rays, both small and large, gliding gracefully through the water. Another unforgettable experience was our jet ski adventure. As if on cue, a pod of dolphins surfaced right in front of us, playfully accompanying us on our ride. It was a truly breathtaking moment. Despite the island's relatively small size, we often felt like we were the only ones there, especially during the day on the beach. This created an incredible sense of seclusion and tranquility – the perfect setting to reconnect with oneself and with nature. In fact, from the moment I stepped onto the island, I was enveloped in a spa-like atmosphere, with a pleasant, calming scent permeating the air. The weather was mostly sunny, and any rain showers were brief and refreshing. The culinary experience was equally exceptional. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the team of chefs – friendly, kind people, and true masters of their craft. Watching them work was a pleasure in itself. We adore seafood and fruit, and the local cuisine, with its emphasis on freshness and flavor, was a perfect match for our tastes. Not a single dish disappointed throughout our entire stay. We opted for half-board, which was more than sufficient, as our minds were often preoccupied with the many other incredible experiences. The visit to the underwater restaurant was a unique and memorable experience. While the portions are understandably smaller, the focus is rightly on the breathtaking ambiance and the opportunity to dine surrounded by the vibrant marine life. I want to express special thanks to Mohamed Abdho. His exceptional service and genuine warmth made our already wonderful vacation even better. His insightful conversations at breakfast and dinner, sharing knowledge about the Maldives and showing a genuine interest in our own experiences, created a light and relaxed atmosphere. When we caught a slight cold (unrelated to the island's conditions), Mohamed, without any prompting, arranged for additional assistance to our villa, significantly speeding up our recovery. We are truly grateful for his presence during our meals. Our host, Naji, also deserves special recognition. He provided seamless support from the moment we arrived, answering all our questions promptly and tactfully, never intrusive. He also genuinely cared about our well-being and assisted with our recovery. Naji even gave us a personalized snorkeling lesson around the island, expertly pointing out the hidden wonders of the underwater world, including a sleeping turtle! The entire staff was exceptionally friendly – so much so that I sometimes felt I wasn't friendly enough in return! The island itself is meticulously maintained, with charming little lizards and crabs adding to the natural charm. Evenings were spent enjoying friendly games of billiards and table tennis. Words can barely capture the sheer joy and unforgettable memories we created during our stay at Hurawalhi. This was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences of our lives, one we will cherish forever. Are we planning our return trip? Without hesitation.

Wow! Stunning resort with great service! We went for a belated birthday celebration and had an amazing time. The overwater villa with pool was beautiful. Comfy bed, spotlessly clean (thank you Peter and Synam) and a mini bar fully stocked so you didn’t have to move all day. Bottles of wine and large bottles of spirits, plenty of soft drinks and free ice brought to the room when you required. My husband enjoyed the snorkelling from the room. He swam with turtles twice just by the reef edge. Lots of colourful and big fish not only when snorkelling but just walking along the boardwalk to the room. We even saw a ray when walking to breakfast. Food was excellent! The buffet had such a vast selection and everything was high quality. Muragan made some great fresh juices everyday and was such a lovely man. Fazeel our waiter for the week was the island snorkelling guru and looked after us like royalty. Friendly and professional - we’ll miss his smile everyday. We ate at 5.8 the underwater restaurant. It isn’t cheap but a lifetime experience that you will treasure. We went for lunch and our host Yum let us have a quick look after dinner one night when it was closed. I think the lunch view was better as less reflection of the internal lights for photos. Saying that the fish were bigger at night and we saw a shark!! Yum, our host was exceptional. She got the balance spot on. Always there when you needed her but never in your face. Such a lovely, kind, warm lady and a true credit to the resort. It is a barefoot resort and everyone dressed quite casually. The room has factor 30 sunscreen, after sun and beautiful smelling shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion so leave these at home. We went to the Champagne Pavillion which was very special too. We saw dolphins on the sunset cruise and drank some new cocktails throughout our 10 days. All the staff remember your name and the amount of people who said Happy Birthday to me was astonishing. Special thanks to Dylan who showed great concern when my husband was not feeling too well and got me some food to take to the room from JFK. Do go to this restaurant. Lovely setting and the food is fantastic! The walk around the island takes 15 minutes and I did this everyday after breakfast. The setting at Hurawahli is beautiful and it always felt like a special treat. Thank you Hurawahli for making our special holiday truly amazing!!!!

Everything was more than perfect! We enjoyed every second of our holiday. Food, rooms, beach... everything was the best of the best. We hope to come back soon. Hajar was the best host we could have wished for. Thank you for everything. Juliana & Stefan

From the moment we were met at Male airport… everything was perfect. The staff consistently are the best we have ever experienced, professional but personable and respectful with fantastic customer service. From the moment we were met at Male airport… everything was perfect. The staff consistently are the best we have ever experienced, professional but personable and respectful with fantastic customer service. The additional touch of greeting guests consistently by their preferred name was warm and impressive. Hurawalhi is simply paradise! The island is stunning and the accommodation is beautiful. We stayed in a sunset villa as prefer to be on the beach and we couldn’t fault it in any way. The food and beverages consistently were first class. Our only mistake was not booking to stay longer, we only had seven nights. We won’t make this mistake next time! It was truly wonderful in every way and thank you to the whole staff team for a wonderful stay, we look forward to seeing you again next year.

Whilst the scenery is spectacular everywhere in the Maldives, the special attention you get at Hurawalhi is a standout! From our personalized meeting at the airport, then sea plane (a must for great views), then on the speed boat, you are made to feel welcome… and special. The GM meets you personally! However, our specially appointed contact, Yum, a Maldivian local, made sure everything happened. Our boat trips, snorkeling, dinner arrangements and the spectacular 5.8 Restaurant were booked with a smile and her special charm. Our room attendant, Shiham, was wonderful. Whilst you may not get them personally, if you do… you’re lucky! Please try the turtle and manta ray tours! Also, venture to the back dock at night and see an amazing array of sea life! Enjoy!!!

Me and my wife chose Hurawalhi as our destination to stay in Maldives as part of our honeymoon after 12 nights in Sri Lanka. I did extensive research on which resort to go to, and which had the best overall amenities that made the cost make sense and make our honeymoon memorable. The Underwater restaurant was the main factor(overrated). Sadly our honeymoon will have negative memories of this resort and even the Maldives. This was both our first visit to the Maldives, but I can honestly say I am put off by going to the Maldives again after seeing how much of a rip off the resort was. Yes- the resort was beautiful, hell it was better looking than the photos and the videos, but the service was shocking and slightly robotic. Our hostess was not friendly, and lacked a smile. Barely said Good morning to us. We had issues with a locked door one afternoon, when I was told that I didn't need any swimming shorts for an activity, however when going to the activity the instructor specifically said I needed it. So by the time I got back to my room and had to wait for the room to be unlocked, my wife had already completed the activity. When I asked for some sort of compensation the hostess refused and explained the instructor can just do it with you, which wasn't the point, as I booked the activity to do it with my wife. The worst part was when the hostess questioned me where the toiletries had gone from the room, such as bath, soap, conditioner, shampoo and creams had gone- 11 bottles to be exact. She questioned me as we were leaving to jump on the seaplane, where they had removed one of our bags from the plane and kept my bag- which had the toiletries in. She then had the audacity to question that we had taken umbrellas from our room. Firstly our bags aren't tall enough to put umbrellas in, secondly, when you are paying £1.2k per night why are you questioning me about umbrellas and toiletries? Especially as we are leaving. We didn't take the umbrellas. Long story short, I spoke to some of the managers the night before including the manager of procurement whom provided us with cosmetics and toiletries free of charge the night before, and I asked if I could take the toiletries we had remaining in the room, which 3 managers agreed. So why make an issue of this as we leave and make a scene in front of our leaving guests? Me and my wife are deeply annoyed and dismayed by how we were treated especially when we departed. I formally request some sort of compensation, I'm telling you now, holidaying in Sri Lanka is 100× better and less than half the cost of staying in a 5 star hotel, and you can spend for a longer duration of time. Stop going to Maldives if you are being treated like this!

An oasis in the ocean and as close to Paradise as you can get. Everything is perfect. As regular travellers to Maldives we can honestly say that Hurawalhi is by far our favourite by a long way. From the arrival at Male airport, you are greeted by the welcome from the Resort team and after check-in luggage for your transfer you whisked away to the Seaplane Terminal and use the Coya lounge, which is a lovely touch after your international flight. The Seaplane transfer is amazing as you get to see the various islands and the stunning scenery. Upon arrival to the Resort you are met by the Maldivian drummers who serenade you to reception, where you meet your island concierge, in our case Zaha who from the point of check-in to departure handles all your requirements swiftly and available by WhatsApp so no request is too much! We chose the Romantic Villa over the sea (212) and WOW. The room is so large and beautifully decorated with everything you could wish for as well as an arrival gift with ice cold Champagne (Tattinger) The terrace is huge and has a fantastic hammock as well as couch and an outside bath tub. You’ll find yourself immediately relaxed and spending a lot of time here as direct access to the lagoon which is full of amazing sea life. Being on this side of the island reef gives you all-day sunshine on the terrace so well worthwhile getting this side of the villas. The restaurants are amazing and the Buffet probably the best we have experienced with chefs at the work stations and the food selections curated with culinary excellence. There’s other eateries that you can use and each offers amazing dishes and experiences. The Teppanyaki is huge fun as is the undersea restaurant which is the largest in the Maldives as unhindered views so every table offers amazing views. The staff are the highlight and icing on the cake as they meet you with a smile and serve you diligently. They even remember your name! The weather has been perfect and whilst there’s a risk of the occasional shower, this will pass swiftly and clear the clouds. The reef is amazing on this atoll as perhaps one of the best given the coral and a divers paradise. Management under Akira should take huge pride for providing such a beautiful, well serviced and 5 star resort. There’s lots to do as well as peace and privacy. This resort is fully booked but you’ll be amazed at how open and quiet it is as plenty of sunbeds and areas to unwind where you’ll only get to meet a few other guests. Remember this is one of the very best Adult Only places and certainly, in our opinion the best we’ve experienced. A gem in the sparkling waters and one that we would definitely return without hesitation. Relax, rejuvenate and replenish.

I have written a number of reviews about Hurawalhi before (long ones too) and refer to them for more details that are still true. Out of many resorts visited since we got the maldivesbug in 1999, Hurawalhi is our favourite. This time we split our stay with another island (great, but not as nice as Hurawalhi) I could go on listing hundreds of separate things and scores of amazing staff but it is the final result that makes the island so special. The ambience on Hurawalhi is unique in making everyone feel welcome, comfortable and special. The service is correct and professional, but above all else so warm and genuine that we feel at home immediately. From what I have observed, this is true for everyone else too. We have recommended it to quite a few people and they have all been totally floored by the experience. :-) Everything is so harmonius and of such quality. The AI plan is so extensive (the minibar wow!) and so high end (a glass of Taittinger anyone?). Harry, the sommelier is such a welcome sight, a real gentleman, serving really nice wines. The food is outstanding everywhere. I adore the villa. Things like extremely quiet AC and the best bed in the business. Thick, comfy sunbeds, huge pool with real depth (130 cm). The island is stunning and so well kept, a tropical garden. Lovely gym and spa. You can be as active or as passive as you like. We snorkled every day. being in a water villa makes it easy peasy. One suggestion if anything, would be having a few nights per week with just some very low key entertainment. The staff of course is the best part. Arriving we meet our host Ali Thari (means star in divehi, the local language) a wonderful, wonderful man. He is the one in the back of the photo. Rafa, and RM Bahau of course (Björn loves the slippers!!! Thanks!) and all the FB staff (Kumal, Khalil, Muranga etc). Casmir, Suranga, Palik and everyone else. I cant list everyone, but you are all warmly remembered! We did a sunset on dream island. Stunning sunset and just enough breeze. Very romantic. We have had dinner there twice before and warmly recommend it! We are already planning for our return 2026. This time we will stay on Hurawalhi the whole time. :-) Thanks again for having us and spoiling us more than ever. I cannot recommend Hurawalhi warmly enough. I know it is heaven for us.

From the seamless arrival and transfer from Male airport, to arriving at Hurawalhi with a beating drum welcome, we knew we were about to experience a special holiday. Ali, our Island host, introduced himself. He was our point of contact during our stay and made any reservations we needed and answered any questions or queries we had. Always on hand with a smile. Little did we know at that point, that the incredible standard of personal care and attention extended throughout the entire team at Hurawalhi. Without exception. They learn your names on day one and continue to greet you personally, wherever you go. Our beach villa was immaculate. Absolutely every need catered for and discreet daily service so that you weren’t disturbed in any way. The food was by far and away the best we have experienced, anywhere in the world. We are well travelled and could not believe the vast array of choices available. If it wasn’t there, you only had to ask and they would provide it. Beautifully presented and hand prepared, by the team of chefs. We ate in the Canelli buffet nearly every evening. We had a 10 night stay and never once, got bored. We dined at the 5.8 restaurant for dinner. A truly unforgettable, once in a lifetime experience and worth every single penny. An absolute must during your stay. We also went to Kashibo and had a few lunches at JFK. All faultless. Everywhere is immaculate. People cleaning and sweeping at every turn. Beaches, like the accommodation, are pristine. Everyday, we felt like we were the only people there. There is a calm and serene atmosphere which surrounds Hurawalhi, very rarely found in so many places. For us, the standout are the staff. Professional, happy and clearly all very proud to be part of an outstanding team of people. They will go to any lengths to make your stay as special as it can be. A few names to mention but really, the staff were ALL incredible. To the team at the Coco bar … thank you! Casmir, Barsha and Dilan to name but a few. What a great bunch! Wonderful Ruwindi. Whose pretty smiling face greeted us at breakfast, every morning. Always trying her upmost to get a favourite spot for us. Harry, our amazing Sommelier, who helped my partner to explore other options he ordinarily would have passed by. I wanted to bring him home with us! Murugan - always smiling. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Mariia - Her guest relations skills are to be commended. Absolutely the friendliest, most attentive staff on the planet. They make it a point to know who you are and what you like. The GM personally makes it a point to welcome you and see you off, which sets the standard for great leadership. The water is so beautiful and filled with turtles, rays, and thousands of colorful fish. Great snorkeling right off your own deck. The spa is the best we have experienced. They have a Master, her name is Poo. If you have an aliment, injury, nerve issue, etc, she can help. She helped us a d she alone, was worth on second visit. It's my experience we would need less Doctors is we had more Masters like Poo. We will return again soon just for her help.

We had an excellent and luxurious stay at Hurawalhi! We ultimately chose to stay here because of the 5.8 underwater restaurant, and it did not disappoint. The island is beautiful and very walkable. There are so many fish and wildlife creatures that we were able to see when we snorkeled right from our room. The restaurants were delicious and the water is safe to drink. The staff was very kind and accommodating. We would absolutely recommend Hurawalhi and hope to be back!

What can I say about this resort. This was our second visit to the island.It was fantastic from start to finish. We were greeted at male airport by a representative who guided use through the sea plane check in and then by limousine to the departure lounge, This resort truly deserves its 5* rating. Everything about it was truly superb from the moment you are welcomed onto the island with a drum roll to the time you depart with the staff waving you off. Every member of staff greeted us through out our stay as we went around the island. Our host for our stay as was Hajar who was always on hand to ensure that we had a really enjoyable stay and nothing was too much trouble. My thanks go to Bahau, the resort manager, for his tour of the operational side of the island, to Fazeel our water bungalow attendant, Fazeel our ever attentive waiter, Murugan, the Sous chef who was in charge of the juice station, Suresh our fruit and ice cream chef and Casemiro, Tulsa and Barsha in the bar. How you remembered everybody’s first name was truly amazing. I have no hesitation is saying Hurawahli is the Maldivian island to visit to have a truly amazing stay with food out of this world. The management should be very proud of the superb service given by all the staff

Excellent stay at Hurawalhi. All was Perfect, the Restaurants, the coco bar, the kindness of every body on place,the ocean and all the activities proposed moi… We stay in a wonderful sunset beach villa. Just a pleasure. Hello to Sam and all the team. See you next year

It was our long-overdue honeymoon, and we had the time of our lives! Everything was absolutely perfect. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, especially our personal guide, Yum, who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. The restaurants were fantastic, offering delicious food with a great variety of options. Everything was spotlessly clean, and our water villa was simply breathtaking. We spent a lot of time snorkeling and had the incredible experience of joining both the manta ray and turtle tours. Dining at the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant was an absolute highlight – an unforgettable culinary experience with breathtaking underwater views. We also enjoyed playing billiards and darts, sipping cocktails at the Cocobar, and starting our days with peaceful sunrise yoga sessions. The resort’s modern gym was perfect for staying active, making our stay feel both relaxing and energizing. A special mention goes to the two marine biologists on the island, who regularly host informative sessions for guests. They provide fascinating insights into the local marine life and emphasize the importance of preserving biodiversity to protect this unique ecosystem. It was inspiring to see how much effort is put into conservation and sustainability. Hurawalhi is truly a paradise, and we couldn’t have asked for a more magical honeymoon. We will cherish these memories forever and would love to return one day!

The Balinese massage we had was the best and the spa is set over water adding to the tranquil experience - thank you ladies! 5.8 underwater restaurant experience is a must for the outstanding food and the environment. In fact all the places to eat are amazing for food quality and ambience. We can’t wait to come back soon.
