Just got back from my stay a HVF Villa Franca in Positano. The staff was absolutely wonderful and did everything to please us. Hotel was modern and beautiful. On the downside, getting around the hotel was difficult because of the never ending stairs. Snacks were quite expensive on the roof top and rooms although were very clean and pretty were small. The shuttle at the hotel was actually a. golf cart which made looking and staying pretty quite impossible.

Wow! My wife and I are a bit of "fly by the seat of your pants" and booked HVF just two days before we arrived. I booked the cheapest room at the hotel and YES, the room is small, but it was more than we needed. I took a Zoom call from our small balcony and made everyone back in the states extremely jealous. I want to point out how amazing the staff was. They could not have been any friendlier and any more professional. The food was OUTSTANDING, the pool was incredible and the views are unimaginable but the staff was by far the highlight of our stay. We had no reservations for anything... we walked in with just our bags in hand and they took care of the rest. They booked our excursions, all of our restaurants and even our transfer to our Airbnb in Atrani. I know this seems like one of those reviews that sounds like maybe I'm being paid to write but I felt the need to share my heartfelt feelings about this hotel. We could only be so lucky to get a chance to stay with them again! It was killer.

We had an incredible 4 night stay at the beautiful Hotel Villa Franca. Immediately upon arrival, we were greeted by Nadia and Dario who were welcoming and ensured that we were comfortable upon arrival. Of all of the places we stayed throughout our visit in various parts of Italy, Nadia's professionalism and hospitality was the best we had experienced. She was patient, personable and readily available to answer all of our questions. The property is stunning and truly one of the most magical places on earth. Visiting Positano is like temporarily living in a storybook and HVF made everything as seamless and comfortable as possible. We booked the Terrace Room Suite and the views were breathtaking. We would sit in the balcony for hours and just soak in the incredible views. Unlike other hotels in Positano, this hotel is modern, clean and equipped with the best amenities. The golf cart shuttle service to the center (and the gentlemen who staffed them) were so pleasant and made the travel throughout Positano enjoyable. The hotel staff is easy to reach and communicate with via WhatsApp which made everything that much easier. They arranged our transportation both two and from the Naples central train station with ease. The food and service at breakfast was also 5-star. Upon arrival we headed straight to the rooftop to enjoy the views and some delicious food and drinks. We will definitely be back to HVF when we have the opportunity/privilege to visit Positano again!!

We stayed here in May for 4 nights, the views from the hotel were fabulous. Our room was extremely small, staff were very friendly and helpful. It is maybe a 10-15 minute walk down steps to the centre of Positano (very steep) and you would need a level of fitness for this and very tough walk back up. The hotel do provide a shuttle service that runs every 30 mins (at certain parts of the day) you can hire a taxi but taxis are expensive (€35 each trip). Hotel was nice but in my option overpriced for what you are getting.

The hotel does have a hefty price tag (1000-1500eu/night) but is worth it if you are looking for a posh quiet place far enough from the flood of tourists visiting the village daily. Small hotel with rooms on the smaller end of the scale but extremely clean with attention to every detail. Breakfast is an experience in itself. Hotel staff is helpful and accommodating. The pool is an absolute treasure.

ABSOLUTE HORROR SHOW. Please, save yourself from the massive rip off you will face at this resort. If you want to get treated like complete trash, find someone who will do that for free. Don't spend thousands on it. First, the rooms are TINY. I mean truly and unconscionably small. To put this into context, if you stay in a standard room you will not be able to open your suitcase. Instead, you'll have to put it on the bed in order to remove any articles of clothing. Worse still, there won't be anywhere to place the suit case so it will take up the remaining (and incredibly limited) space in your room. Thus, in order to walk from one side of the shoebox room they stick you in to the other side of the room, you will either have to put your suitcase back on the bed or jump over it. Aside from the serious sanitation issues this poses, its a massive inconvenience. Prices are truly outrageous and you DO NOT get what you pay for here. If you are willing to spend over a thousand euro per night on a room, then go to La Sirenuse. Second, the staff are rude and abrasive. Truly the rudest and most stuck up people I have ever had the displeasure of encountering, let alone rely on for service. If you are expecting friendly staff, do not stay here. If you want to get talked down to, treated like dirt, and told to kick rocks any time you have a request, then this is the place for you. In all seriousness, this is a property that values their bottom line, not their patrons. Under no circumstance will you be made to feel welcome. You will be pushed around, gaslit, neglected and then get handed a bill for thousands. A few additional notes: Plumbing here was broken throughout the duration of our stay. Do not expect a view (even if the room is marketed as having one. Trust me, it doesn't) They DO NOT HAVE DUVETS ON THE BED. If warmth is something you are interested in, you won't find it here. If you are looking forward to the plush embrace of a thick duvet after a long journey, you will be disappointed. I have never stayed at a hotel that bills itself as (and charges prices for) a luxury resort, but expects you to sleep with under a paper thin sheet and nothing else. 0/10 DO NOT COME HERE.

I dont even understand how they got five stars. It surely does not have all the services of a 5 stars. First, the people are the reception are not welcoming and sorry for saying this but they are useless. As there is no concierge on the hôtel I asked them where we can go eat and they gave us the worst recommandation. The hotel is located on the top of Positano. Therefore there is a shuttle which takes you to town but only in the morning before 10 and in the evening after 10pm. We needed a shuttle on between hours to come back to the hôtel and they just refused to send one. We booked a room with a lateral seaview. We end up with a partial seaview as you can see on the picture. It’s a shame not to say it’s fake publicity to rent this room as a lateral seaview. The rooms are very very tiny. Be careful they dont mention that the hotel has a secondary building when you book your room. The secondary building which they call annexe is just terrible. Thé breakfast is good but omelette, pancakes et Fresh fruit juices are not complimentary. In conclusion, Hôtel Villa Franca is not a real five star hôtel. Prefer the Syranuse hôtel where the service is just perfect and the location is next to the center of the city. If you want to be a little bit far away from the center, go to Villa Treville.

Spent 3 great nights here. The room was a bit small (no real complains though because it was a Hyatt award room, one of the last of them at that they left Hyatt soon after) but very clean and nice. The location is top notch, you are literally perched over all of Positano with incredible views. The shuttle service down to the town is easy and very good. The breakfast spread and ala carte ordering was great too. All the bartenders were good.. I enjoyed all of my dry martinis! But my favorite part was the service. All the staff were amazing. They arranged a driver to La Tagliata for us, they also arranged a driver back to Naples for us when our plans changed last minute. They were extremely friendly and accommodating - I wish I remembered everyone's names but thanks to Gianluca, Antonio, and Francesco! You definitely get what you pay for at Villa Franca, and I am more than pleased to give them my first 5 star rating.

Same rate. They wouldn’t move them with out charging more. Breakfast is included and we are going somewhere else. Need I say more…. Many other options in Positano including Airbnb. Don’t do what we did and panic for a room. Stay in other towns. We saw a Airbnb in Capri for much less yesterday. I’ve never paid the price we are paying for a hotel room anywhere. I’m actually disgusted with the situation. My fault. I should not have said ok. But I expected a Grand Suite and it was last minute.

This is a review of Villa Franca's Gold Champagne and Seafood Bar ( as I can't find a dedicated page for it ) We originally had booked at their D'oro Lounge but having had drinks beforehand and seen the menu which had a large seafood focus decided to switch to Gold. The views are in our experience the absolute best across Positano. The food was superb, oysters were phenomenal and the service fantastic. Particularly thanks to the sommelier lady who had some great recommendations and was really hospitable. We had a marvellous evening and would recommend anyone to try the place out for a memorable evening! Thank you!

Not impressed. Outrageously expensive for what you get and if you want to get to get eggs at breakfast, they charge you an extra $40 when breakfast is supposed to be free. Ridiculous. They stuck us in a tiny room out of the main building a few floors down, and it smelled like sewers, and they told us that we were getting one of the larger rooms which was nonsense. Yes, they did move us when we complained, but they think Americans are stupid I guess. The front desk people are incredibly nice, but for nearly US$2000 a night I would not go back. The service at breakfast is absolutely ridiculous. Plan to spend the entire time thirsty because they pour you an inch of water and then don’t come back for 30 minutes. I don’t mind spending money on a quality place but this is not it.

Excellent hotel with outstanding views and service. We stayed here in May 2023. Even though the weather wasn’t great and it rained quite a bit we still enjoyed the hotel also the hotel offered a shuttle service to take us to and from the centre of positano. Which was extremely convenient. We walked into our room to beautiful views of positano and a lovely spacious verandah to enjoy the views. We were greeted with a chilled bottle of Prosecco and chocolate cake for our anniversary which was the purpose of this holiday . The Breakfast was outstanding and the absolute best breakfast we have ever had with a hotel. The staff were outstanding and nothing was too much for them. They always wanted to assist you if needed. The pool area is stunning and has outstanding views of the whole island. Excellent hotel with state of the art decor. Just BEAUTIFUL!!

This is a long overdue review. HVF is the place to stay in Positano. Nestled atop the main part of town, you’ll be stunned by the views. Hands down, this is the best hotel staff we have ever encountered. Nadia is the greatest concierge we have ever met and should win every hospitality award. She’s incredible, anticipates needs with a warm and generous touch. She takes an exceptional amount of pride in her work. I missed the hotel upon arrival and drove too far on Positano’s one-way street, and she had porters chase me down and recover the car and bags to spare me a 15 minute loop. She can arrange cab service to dinner and bill through hotel, and when the drivers were running late she’d proactively contact the driver and restaurant to ensure all are aware of our arrival time. We had not a care in the world throughout our trip. Halfway through our trip, after a long, boozy dinner I tried to have a conversation with her to strategize our departure time and car pickup. She insisted I arrive for breakfast later than I thought would be appropriate to give them notice to bring the car around. I said no, I’m going to show up early as a courtesy to you to give you notice. Well, a couple days passed by and I forgot we even had that conversation and I strolled in later than planned on our final morning. Nadia remembered our conversation and had the car standing by on that narrow street, water bottles in the cup holders, and breakfast staff ready to serve us fast and get us out on time. She had the bags picked up from our room and loaded into the car before I could manage to inhale breakfast as fast as possible to make our flight on time. And “of course,” a nice little farewell gift to remember our stay. Would be nice to have her in our daily life back home! The rooftop pool has once in a lifetime views with a top class staff and fun, social, sophisticated scene for all (adult) ages. These are the pool photos that will make your friends hate you with envy. The base level rooms are tight as one would expect but every balcony view is stunning. We preferred a city view with partial ocean to a sea view. We had the option of the included breakfast as room service on the balcony, a must. The breakfast spread is among the mount bountiful and delicious you could ever have. Every little detail here is class - the house water comes in branded HVF wine bottles. The hotel smells amazing. The toiletries and bathroom is stunning. We stayed with Hyatt points as Explorist members through the SLH partnership. We are happy with the status recognition and perks (hit and miss with other SLH) and would not hesitate to do it again or pay the full cash rate. One of our best hotel experiences ever.

We were so looking forward to our stay at Villa Franca ... for months ... and we couldn't have been more disappointed. If we could turn back time and select a different hotel, we absolutely would. The 1-star can go towards the views from the very tiny pool/restaurant area on the roof. I truly would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms are incredibly small. You can't help but feel cheated given the extremely high price (which we were happy to pay if there had been reasonable space in the room). The staff will tell you this is just how hotels are in Positano because space is so limited but that is not true — we had a lovely, spacious room at Le Sirenuse (for slightly less!) which is far better hotel in every single respect when compared to Villa Franca. The staff are not hospitable whatsoever — especially the front desk team. They come across as arrogant and entitled. It felt like we were 'bothering' them just by being there. We did our best not to have to interact with the staff, which is a terrible feeling as a guest at a 5-star hotel. We were actually excited on check-out day to move on to our next destination. Breakfast service and selection leaves a lot to be desired. The staff was clearly not very well trained—requests simply forgotten, no water served when asked, just the basics seemed to escape the team working in the mornings. The menu was also very limited, aside from a plate of pastries provided each day that we didn't want/ask for and a majority of guests left untouched (which is very wasteful). The decor is that of a modern art museum. It makes for beautiful pictures on their website and social media but that's it. But hey, if you're looking for a hotel with cool sculptures and art in the lobby and uncomfortable and impractical lobby furniture — by all means, book Villa Franca. Overall this hotel is just very uncomfortable, unfriendly, and it's a real shame because it's beautifully situated atop Positano.

Villa franca was the last stop on our honeymoon trip to Italy (Lake Como and Tuscany prior) and we were super excited, as this one was the most expensive by a considerable amount, so we were expecting something really great. For context the other two hotels we had stayed at before were also 5 star. Unfortunately, HVF proved to be incredibly overpriced for what it was, and genuinely the only thing 5 star about it is the view. The room was nice and sea view was lovely, however the room service was pretty terrible. The turn down service the first night wasn’t until 10pm - quite late after a long travel day - and for about 3 days they failed to clean up an unfinished champagne glass which started to collect fruit flies. We eventually had to call to have this collected. Our coffee was not refilled, toiletries were not restocked or tidied up. Clothes and items were just left all over the place instead of tidied (like we experienced in other hotels). The breakfast service and food was also below average. Only some basic items are included and anything slightly nicer comes with a nice price tag. Our second breakfast we weren’t even served water or any of the pastries which most other tables all had as soon as they were sat. Another annoying thing is that the pool and gym only open at 10am (which is basically when breakfast ends). Again for a 5 star hotel at this price, the expectation would be for the gym to be either open 24/7 or from very early on for people like us who prefer to exercise first thing in the morning. As far as the rooftop area- it is a sensational view. However there is not much of vibe. They had a dj in the evening but it was just empty and not really providing any authentic ambience. We went up there for the morning on Saturday and again it was totally vibe-less; thankfully we had booked at Arienzo beach club which was good fun. We also had dinner at Li Gali which was quite good and the service there was fantastic. The final point I’d say is that when we checked out, we were not even asked by the reception how our stay was or anything, which is customer service 101. We would have actually provided some of this feedback face to face if given the opportunity. And - in all my experience in hotels, I’ve never encountered this at a hotel check out - they asked for a further tip in addition to the already extortionate rates. I would personally not recommend staying here and you could find a much more authentic and genuinely customer-centric luxury hotel.
