We reserved a Jr Suite and on viewing it saw that we would have to negotiate a full flight of stairs to get to the bathroom. We thought this was too dangerous at our age and at night. They offered us a standard room (17% less expensive) and denied our request for a refund or on site credit for food or other services. Booking.com followed suit saying there are photos of the staircase. There is no mention as to whether the bathroom is on the upper or lower floor, though. The very next guests to register did receive that Jr suite, so there was no loss to the hotel.
At the Friday BBQ night we shared a “rib eye” steak. My half I could not cut with a steak knife or chew. Surely, grass-fed beef will be more dense but this was impossible to eat. We dined elsewhere for the duration of our stay
I must say that the hotel was quiet, clean and breakfasts were outstanding.

We enjoyed 2 barbeque nights there…all our steaks were top notch. cooked to perfection. The breakfasts are extensive. The service is wonderful. I can’t say enough about the staff. Wonderful. The beach club is small but the service and food there is also excellent. Rooms are clean but dated. Air conditioner worked wonderfully, and was quiet. That is very important for us. Loved the hotel, hence, returning March 19.

This is a wonderful little hotel. The pluses include:
Many shaded areas with breezeways
Fresh cold water station
Adorable, spotless pool
Fantastic breakfast with amazing service (no “help yourself” noro-virus buffet here!). Note you can order whatever you want off the menu included - highly recommend adding the breakfast to your reservation
Friendly, polite staff, lots of English spoken
Cute beachside restaurant run by hotel just a short walk away
Everything sparkling clean throughout
Comfortable beds and pillows
Decent location, walking distance to beaches, shopping & restaurants
On site bar with delicious 90 peso cocktails
On site restaurant with excellent service and food. I had a fillet mignon - took a chance as my experience with beef in Mexico is sketchy and it was the most consistently tender steak I’ve ever eaten. Came with incredible sides and cost about $25 CAD.
Small concerns:
Breakfast is served at 8:00, and we had to leave early so paid for a breakfast we don’t get - our own fault but worth considering
We were “Upgraded” to a junior suite and hated it. Yes it’s large, clean, etc., but the beds are up a long flight of stairs: the floor up there creaks and cracks like thunder whenever you move so getting up to use the WC in the night ensures everyone is awake. In addition, the lighting is very poor/dim throughout. On the first night I missed the bottom step as it blends in with the floor. Righted myself before I went down but hubs wasn’t so lucky the next night and nearly broke his neck. Ended up with several cuts and bruises. We reported to the front desk and strongly suggested they paint the step as we can’t believe nobody has broken their necks already but if you end up in this room take precautions.
Poor lighting in room - see above
Very few outlets. We had to choose between charging our phones OR having the light on in the bedroom, having the TV on OR the fridge plugged in downstairs. For such a nice hotel it seems odd they don’t deal with that.

We had a very nice stay, our second time staying here. We requested a ground floor room we booked and made the request seven months in advance, but we did not get one. Many ground floor rooms were empty during our stay. Very disappointing.
We have been to Huatulco many times, and even if we stayed at other places we always visited the restaurant at Villablanca. This time we only had dinner there once, the prices are ridiculously high. Fries $220 pesos! No drink specials anymore they used to have 2 for 1 at happy hour. Breakfast was included and very good. It was sad to see the restaurant empty even on nights there was entertainment. This place used to be hopping.
Room was fine although no pressure in the shower.
We will try somewhere else next time mainly because of the restaurant prices. We missed the convenience of being able to order drinks and food poolside at an affordable price.

Our second visit to this hotel, the last was in 2022. Great location with easy walks in town (centro), down to Santa Cruz beach and to Chahue beach. Rooms are clean but could use a facelift, especially the bathroom/shower. Very poor water pressure and not much warm water for a shower.
We had a room on 2nd floor overlooking the pool. Very small balcony not good for much other than looking out or getting a breath of warm air.
Air conditioner worked great and was quiet. WIFI didn't work well in the room, but downstairs it was fine.
We had requested a room on the bottom floor facing the pool. Even though we reserved about 5-6 months in advance we did not get one... even though at least3 of those rooms remained empty for 3-4 nights... a little disappointing.
We got the breakfast included. Like last time we were there food was great... Eggs of all varieties made fresh, a good selection of fruit and lots of mexican dishes for breakfast. They would even make you fresh fruit smoothies.
We ate lunch here only once. We did notice prices had gone up substantially. Over $200 Pesos for fries was a little much. No lunch specials like prior.
Did not try dinner here this trip, due in part to the prices.
Pool area is nice, quiet and there always seemed to be room in a chair or lounger.
Staff is very friendly.
They did get in a couple of buses of people which made the hotel and especially the breakfast very busy.

Had a awesome 2 week stay at Villa Blanca. Feb 2024.
All Staff provided great customer service with a smile and attention to detail.
Pool is large and clean. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful.... so I would recommend purchasing this plan if you stay at this hotel.
Room 216 has a comfortable king size bed with good view of pool. We always had hot water in the shower but water flow was a little low.
Wifi is acceptaple for emails or searching on the internet.... if you are streaming a NHL game.... you can anticipate some buffering periods.
This was our first trip to Huatulco... we had a fantastic holiday... and are looking forward to visiting again in the future!
Special thank you to all the staff at Villa Blanca for your expertise and hospitality!!!

We loved our 2 week stay at the Hotel Villa Blanca, Huatulco! Fortunately they upgraded us to a junior suite on the 3rd floor with one bed in the loft which was wonderful and spacious. Enjoyed having cocktails on our little balcony overlooking the inner courtayard and pool. Breakfasts were included with our package and they were excellent and there was something different every day. Even mimosas were offered every day, and you could order things like eggs florentine from a waiter and there was such a variety of Oaxacan and North American favourites and even a french influence with some pain au raisins and pain au chocolate. And Princessa the resident hotel cat often joined us for breakfast. She must have known we were missing ours kitty back home. There were always two large water stations in the lobby 24/7 and one was just water and they other had differnent fruits in it. You could fill up your own water bottle any time and there was another machine right by the ice machine. Aprreicated having the fridge in our room and being able to keep libations and snacks chilled. Taxis were reasonable and we found the best swimming beach was at la Entrega, a short 15 minute taxi drive away through a curvy moutain road with speed bumps. Lots of restaurants within walking distance to the hotel and if we were too hot or tired taxis were plentiful. And the restaurant at the hotel was also very good for a few dinners. Also a short walk to Chedraui, the major big grocery store and where you could also purchase alcohol and beer and wine. Staff were very pleasant. Beach towels were provided by the hotel as well. Would be nice to have a few more chaise lounges around the pool. Unfortunately some guests leave their things on the loungers even before breakfast is served and they are often absent from using them. Chahue Bay is a short walk away but without any shade on the beach. Most days the rip tides were strong but one morning we managed to swim there for over an hour. There is a beach club associated with the hotel in Santa Cruz but the first shuttle is not until around 11:30 am and there is often a cruise ship in the harbour and we found that the water was dirty and preferred swimming at la Entrega beach. The Hotel Villa Blanca is nice and small, (61 rooms and suites), and tastefully decorated with lots of pretty Mexican tiles and touches and splashes of colour. Looking forward to returning. Highly recommend staying in a suite.

Cabs are plentiful and cheap if you don’t feel like walking, or want to go a little farther like Tangolunda. Breakfast was great every morning and the pool was a wonderful place to relax in the afternoon when we returned from our adventures. Most evenings we went to other restaurants nearby but we had three dinners at Villa Blanca and they were all excellent. We were well taken care of by restaurant staff Ximena, Laura, Juan, Victor, Josue, Kevin and Ricardo. We had a Junior Suite which we recommend for the extra space.

We stayed here for 8 nights in April....then moved north to San San Agustinillo for 9 nights and then back for 3 more nights at this wonderful smaller hotel. Although its not right on a beach youre a fifteen minute walk from Chauhue....open surf and a few different beach clubs.
The pool is cleaned daily but I found it too shallow to maintain any coolness so it wasnt all that refreshing.
There was a cool little park along the walk to get to Chauhue Beach , about 15 minutes walk, where I quickly discovered a bevy of bird species and I would walk there and photograph birds every morning as the sun was coming up...we enjoyed this beach, and we often would get a day pass at one of the "Beach Clubs" and hang out there for the day. The park was named Parque Hundido Chahue!
The rooms were a bit dated but certainly full of character, we stayed in what they call a "Junior Suite", housekeeping made the bed daily and cleaned , fresh towels and linens ever day. I have to mention that in these rooms the bed is on an upper floor and there is a flight of stairs to access that bedroom...an interesting design but maybe a deal breaker if you have mobility issues.
The staff swept and cleaned the pool area every morning and at different times throughout the day I would see someone sweeping, or wiping down table tops.
The staff are all amazing, professional and courteous, easily willing to provide you with whatever your desire might be. Kudos to all of the staff there for helping to make our stay there welcoming and enjoyable. I cant single out just one person because everyone that I encountered was a charm to interact with.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone if you want an unpretentious and welcoming stay during your time in Huatulco. If I was ever to return to Huatulco we would likely stay with them again!

Found this gem located inside the hotel. The restaurant itself is near the pool and garden area, which is an open concept. The service was top notch as was the food and ambience of the restaurants location. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Huatulco.
