We loved this hotel. Great location, great view from our spacious room with balcony, excellent help from reception staff - a complete package and at such a good price too.
We would definitely stay here again if we ever returned to lovely Bonifacio.

Loved this gem, excellent value and quality of rooms . We had room 313 which was worth the upgrade as very big room and bathroom with both balcony facing the marina and another window facing the citadel. Spectacular views and friendly staff , nice breakfast ! We loved the mechanical rolling blackout curtains every hotel should have these we slept like a log room sooo dark at night excellent.
A must do, these days when you pay so much for average accommodation is nice to stay in a near clean quirky hotel without having to pay more than your monthly mortgage for a few nights.
Great place merci

Hotel Solemare was so fun, comfy and stylish that I can’t imagine how it could be improved. Our junior suite had two lovely rooms on the fourth floor whose windows opened directly onto the beautiful port with its super yachts, sailboats, restaurants and shops — and of course the Citadel looming on the clifftop. (I had booked a quadruple room to get the port view initially, but a few weeks before i began my travels, the hotel sent me an email asking if I’d like to upgrade to a junior suite for almost the same price, so i did.) our room had a minifridge. The bed was great!
Breakfast, both continental and buffet, is served on a lovely terrace overlooking the port. At night, you can sit out there for drinks and enjoy the lights. Blankets were even draped over each chair to keep guests cozy as this was end of April/start of May.
This hotel is supposedly one of only two in town that has a swimming pool, and it’s heated. Free parking is available, a rarity here; it also has an electric car charging station. Absolutely everything is within walking distance (even a laundromat), except the major beaches. The upper town is quite an uphill hike, but a little train will take you up there for a small fee.
The staff was so helpful and friendly, especially Betty, whose restaurant recommendations were extraordinary.

A windy hour-long ferry ride from Santa Teresa landed us in the picturesque French port of Bonifacio on the island of Corsica. The boats approach felt like a scene from Troy with the citadel sitting high on sheer cliffs with walls that looked impregnable. The old fishing port was now a modern marina with super yatchs moored next to each other almost like a car park or in this case a boat park. Restaurants, at least one boasting a Michelin status, competed for space around the bay each trying to outdo the other with even more imaginative fish or seafood dishes. Some of the fish looked so large or weird Jacques Cousteau may have struggled to find them.
Hotel Solemare
The hotel sits on the less populated side of the bay that consequently gives it better views, especially at night. Sympathetically designed our room, located on the fourth floor, was large enough to be comfortable for even the most challenging of guests but small enough not to have become a pastiche of its former self. The bathroom was unusually large for a room of its size with a walk-in shower; the toilet was separate.
The room, equipped with a bistro balcony - a balcony big enough for bistro chairs and table - had those all important views of the marina. A double bed, fridge and wide-screen TV were all plusses. Tea making facilities would have completed the list.
The service throughout was excellent with all of the members of staff ready to assist with the simplest or more complex task. Even though our ferry back to Sardinia had been cancelled and the hotel fully booked, we were offered a room so that we were not left destitute and homeless. If this isn't five star treatment I don't know what is.
Day 2 - Corsica
Citadel
From Hotel Solemare it is a short but challenging walk to the medieval citadel. Challenging because of the steep climb to its entrance. Those who have any impairment preventing them from walking or honest enough to admit that they are carrying more than a few excess pounds should consider the mini train - yes the train is very Disney but it beats a defibrillator followed by cardiac massage.
Once you get to the top it is hard to be disappointed. The citadel is beautiful even though it is crumbling in places. There are enough shops and restaurants to entertain most visitors. Churches and a cemetery make up other attractions. I did say cemetery it is a sight to behold and very photogenic.

This hotel was perfect for visiting Bonifacio. Our room overlooked the marina and the citadel. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was well-appointed - beds were very comfortable. Standard of cleanliness was excellent. There was a good selection of food available at the breakfast buffet. Nearby are plenty of good restaurants. There is a nice hotel bar providing a wide range of drinks at reasonable prices in a peaceful setting overlooking the marina. You are near the start of the tourist train if you don't want the steep walk up to the mediaeval city and it is also close to the ticket offices for boat trips. I would love to go back there again someday. The swimming pool was appreciated after a busy day sightseeing.

We had a suite which was a good size and a comfortable king size bed. Good sized bathroom with the shower over the bathtub. I would have liked a walk in shower as I had a fall in a bathtub recently that left me with some pain and using a crutch. We had a balcony overlooking the port and the citadel. Terrific location with lots of restaurants and bars on your doorstep. The hotel has parking which is a plus as parking can be very difficult in this town. The reception staff spoke English and always had a smile for us. Wifi was frustrating but this has been the case in all of our accomodation in Corsica over the past two weeks.

If you want to wake up with The best view of the port with the mega yachts in the harbour then you won't beat staying here. It's only a small port and there aren't too many hotels here but I did a bit of research and decided to stay here. And to be fair I'm glad we did. The reception staff here are lovely( and speak good English if you need it) really helpful. They stored our bikes for us. The rooms face the harbour and it is the most perfect view in the morning. We didn't have breakfast here(€15 pp per day, we brought our own!) but it looked good, but other harbour bars serve breakfast a bit cheaper. You can pick faults here but the hotel itself is old but they've spent money on decor; new showers, comfy beds, furniture etc. The basic part of the hotel is not the best but it has everything you need and it's clean. Housekeeping is very good too. The pool is great. The car parking good. Everything is within walking distance. If you ride; the roads are full of potholes! The boat trips are plentiful from tours around the islands or dropping you off at the beaches and picking you up later. There are a great choice of restaurants here. We would definitely stay here again. The best port of the island I'd say.

We spent two nights here as part of a tour and were impressed with the friendly and helpful staff at reception when we arrived. Our room looked straight out across the harbour and the view couldn't have been better. However, the room itself was pretty basic and very small and everything in need of a good renovation.
Breakfast was pleasant and varied but with no hot selection. The coffee machine was the cause of much confusion for many guests but, once mastered, the coffee itself was good!

Hotel Solemare is a nice and welcoming hotel in the center of Bonifacio. I have to start by saying that the people working at this hotel were super friendly, especially the staff at the reception desk went out of their way to accommodate us and made us feel right at home.
The room itself was somewhat small and had twin beds (which we don't mind, actually). The douche was fine and from our little balcony we had a nice view on the harbour of Bonifacio. The fact that we could eat breakfast outside on the patio was also a plus. Breakfast itself was just ok, would have loved me some scrambled eggs and sausages. The swimming pool had a gorgeous view on the harbour and the Citadel of Bonifacio.
We did notice though that after our first night the room wasn't cleaned very thoroughly. The sand we took with us from the beach was still in the room, the next day.
