We loved our room, the breakfast, and the location of this hotel. The staff was very helpful, as well. The bed was comfortable and the rooftop terrace was a nice plus. The only negative that I can mention is the bar. It was loud and not the atmosphere that we were looking for at the end of a long day of touring. However, it was not a big deal because we could pick up a bottle of wine and go to the rooftop for a relaxing sunset.

Filippo on the front desk is exceptional; so helpful and knowledgeable. Only suggestion would be to put a self serve coffee machine in the breakfast room. Coffee is always cold and takes ages to get from one of the otherwise great waitresses.

Elegant, convenient Florence base
Excellent location. A short walk from the train station and within walking distance of the major attractions. Elegant rooms and ample breakfast menu. The Prosecco welcome bottle was a pleasant surprise!
Very beautiful rooms, ideal location.
Now this IS a wonderful hotel and superbly located. The rooms are exquisite - I would recommend the Deluxe rooms, although the base rooms are of a not dissimilar standard and more than acceptable. Reception was efficient and very helpful. The breakfast room was good, although busy at times and...
Now this IS a wonderful hotel and superbly located. The rooms are exquisite - I would recommend the Deluxe rooms, although the base rooms are of a not dissimilar standard and more than acceptable. Reception was efficient and very helpful. The breakfast room was good, although busy at times and safari in nature, e.g. not table service ( I don’t like the early morning work-out between, hot food table, cold food table, juice table, toaster…..) There is no restaurant but who needs one when there are so many restaurants within a short walk. I thoroughly recommend this hotel and hope to return, maybe next year.

Loved this old-world beautiful hotel. Santa Maria Novella is very well located on the square of the Santa Maria Novella church - nice walks to all the major sights. We had a lovely large corner room overlooking the square for our 6 night stay - loved it! Our friends had a junior suite - larger room than ours but not a view of the square. Wonderful bed and linens...a large bathroom with good shower. Housekeeping was excellent with turndown service at night. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast - a large buffet with eggs, bacon, cakes, breads, meats and cheeses...very nice selection. The staff was helpful and attentive. There are many restaurants within 5 minutes --Osteria Belle Donne (with a wine window!), La Spada, and Marione's were all good. We had a great visit and enthusiastically recommend this hotel!

Our room overlooked the piazza and one could almost expect some noise at night but we slept soundly. The Hotel and the piazza are away from the more crowded areas of Florence but near enough to be able to walk to e.g. the Duomo in a few minutes. The bedroom was a decent size but the bathroom lacked a bath so no opportunity for a long soak. Reception staff were efficient. There was a good choice for the buffet breakfast and staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a good base for a 4 night stay.

Had a reservation but we were stuck on an island due to high winds and rain with no ferry service. Some of the worst flooding in Florence since 1966, apparently. We contacted hotel to let them know why we would be unable to make it to the hotel. Still charged us, no flexibility at all. Tried to get a refund through booking (Agoda) but it kept running us into dead ends with its app. Poor customer service experience. Chalk it up to using Agoda and getting a hotel in advance.

We greatly enjoyed our 7 days at the Santa Maria Novella Hotel. The Hotel is an easy walk from the train station; there's no need to drag luggage down crowded cobble stone streets. The Plaza Santa Maria Novella is literally right across the boulevard from the train station, down a pedestrian walk way on the side of the church. The Santa Maria Novella Hotel is a five story building at the end of the plaza. Reception staff were professional and welcoming and check-in was easy, Staff were always kind and helpful. Our room was large and beautifully decorated with antique furnishings, several chairs, a couch and a large dresser. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean with modern amenities. We had a full view of the plaza below. The hotel had a full bar for evening beverages and snacks. The buffet breakfast was served on the first floor with ample offerings. The kitchen provided espresso and cooked separate egg dishes upon request. The Santa Maria Novella Hotel did not have a restaurant but there were many restaurants nearby and in the greater area. It is very important to make reservations as restaurants generally opened at 7:00 pm and were packed 15 minutes later. Getting a same day reservation was generally unlikely but a day or two in advance often worked. As an aside, La Sorbettiera, now my favorite gelato shop of all times is within a block or so of the hotel. The Duomo is within an easy walk from the hotel as was the Ponte Vecchio. The Hotel Santa Maria Novella amplified the great time we had in Florence and I would definitely return.

We booked a junior suite, and we were not disappointed. Our room was spacious and well appointed with a fantastic view of the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. The A/C worked like a champ! The staff was super friendly and helpful. We weren't happy with our pillows but were able to get different ones before our next night. There was a small issue with the toilet seat, and it was immediately repaired. Breakfast was in a beautiful room, with excellent service and good food. We would highly recommend this well priced, lovely hotel!

Quaint Italian hotel, great location- close to the train station and most popular attractions in town. Our room was on the first floor and had 3 windows which overlooked the SMN Piazza. The room was bright, comfortable, very clean, and was always restocked with water. The only problem we had was that the AC was not as cold as it could have been on the first night. The hotel was extremely accommodating; they gave us a fan and sent a repair man in and even offered us a change of room. We decided to stay where we were and the rest of the stay was fine, as the weather did cool off a bit. Great choice - don't hesitate to book this hotel.

I just came back from my trip to Florence. I was there last week. My partner had trouble with a hotel which we had reserved. We were rather unhappy and decided not to check in. Therefore we were temporarily stranded in Florence. We were near the Santa Maria Novella piazza and asked the staff at the Santa Maria Novella Hotel for help. Mariella and Lorenzo, at the reception desk, did some magic and found us a room for 3 nights. They saved our trip. The hotel is excellent and in a great location. It is a short walk from the train station, the cathedral and the Ponte Vecchio. They have a nice bar and outdoor restaurant, and great roof top views of the city. Highly recommend this hotel with a great staff.
