We visited for 11 nights on last week of February. Had a great time really enjoyed our holiday. Good facilities and grounds/ pools and terraces. The staff are very hard working, the cleaners are none stop always on the go and keep the place spotless. Bar staff very good, professional and friendly as are waiters and waitresses. Bellboys are very helpful. More than enough sun loungers for everyone. Entertainment staff are very good performed highly professional shows. For the most part the food was OK. Fish almost always overcooked. The speciality eateries; Mexican a no no when we were there no one finished the food we did not like this place. Italian was ok but nothing special Japanese was good salmon was quite dry desert not good. Steakhouse not so good the fillet steak I had was good, however New York strip was quite tough. The starter of crab cake was cold and shrimp with my steak massively over cooked and cold to the point could not eat them (starter and shrimp had been Precooked not fresh cooked) Fusion was the best Although it’s a five star hotel I think all the restaurants are typical of a tourist hotel where they don’t really have to try too much to get customers. I would not consider the food is five star quality. Just a wee bit advice think before you book into the large suite with jacuzzi on the balcony. They have two pillars housing them and one has no view of the hotel grounds and pools. Also the wind rushes through due to being open on three sides so can be cold at times. We booked a jacuzzi suite in the main building and We had heard before we arrived people do not always gat what they booked and there is a practice of overbooking at this hotel. Before we arrived the reception had said in an email they would request our suite should be pool facing. However, we were given a suite on the ground floor of the villas. When we opened the door we could smell damp and the room was cold. We increased the temperature to maximum but it did not work. next day the room was a bit dark I think because of position of these rooms and their large terrace area they don’t get direct sun. It was also a bit cloudy and windy. We went back to reception and requested to get the room category we had paid for, however had to wait two days before one became available. Our jacuzzi was broken when we arrive in our paid for room and it took a week and four requests to get it fixed. So we didn’t get what we paid for. The rooms are very clean, however the furnature basic and a bit tiered. I would not consider them worthy of a five star hotel. We would go back to this hotel but not into the large suites. We did like the room not the possibility of not getting what you pay for.

My husband and I are staying at the Riu Palace Peninsula right now. Sadly, we only have 2 days left in paradise but we are enjoying every moment. We are in the adults only section in one of the villas. The room is very spacious, with a hot tub on the patio/balcony. We are on the ground floor and only steps from the adults only pool, which is heated and always kept pristine. There are 3 other pools, two of which are pretty cold for a wimp like me and one which has the aqua classes and games. That one is also heated. I cannot say enough about the staff at this resort (as with all Rius we've visited), they are so friendly, gracious and will all bend over backwards to be of help. Our housekeeper, Nery is a gem and keeps our room spic and span. She leaves us little towel animals all the time as well as rose petals on the bed and spa tub (in the room, not the balcony). She has left us roses twice, which is a lovely touch. The food here is good and plentiful. The buffet is large, with so many varied options. We've been to the breakfast buffet every morning and the lunch buffet only a few times. There is something for everyone, with so much fresh fruit, beautiful salads, pasta dishes, rice dishes, Mexican tortilla dishes, just about every protein you can imagine and lovely desserts. We've been to all of the a la carte restaurants and they're all pretty decent. I've heard some people complain, but you must remember a 5-star restaurant in Mexico isn't the same as a 5-star restaurant in Canada or the US. The service is fantastic and very professional at all the restaurants. Our favourite dishes, so far have been the duck at the Kulinarium, the lamb at Venecia and the hamachi appetizer at Krystal. There have been lots of other good dishes, but those were the stand outs. The waiters at the pools are very attentive, making sure everyone has full drinks at all times. The entertainment staff are also wonderful and very engaging. The silent disco was the most fun we've had in ages! I honestly can't say enough about how lovely the resort is and how wonderful the staff are. This is our 3rd Riu and won't be our last! We are so happy with all that you do, Riu! Thank you!

The RIU Palace Peninsula is one of the nicest places I have had the pleasure of staying, due to the recent snow storm we were two days late getting there and they were not made aware of this by our airline. We were put down as a no show and our rooms were given away by no fault of the hotel whats so ever. This is where the RIU stepped up, gave us a room for the first night with promises of a better room the next day and boy did they over deliver. First we were given the gold arm band (top) and then they put us up on the 17th floor (top floor) facing the beach,The veiws were magnificent. The staff here are so helpful and always pleaseant, the food was the best I ever had at a resort and the drinks were well crafted and the beer was always cold. Our room maid did a outstanding job and left us a different animal display out of towels and a spotless well stocked room. I have to give a big shout out to Doris and Rubiel in the buffet dining room, they made our experience one to remember with their quick service and attention to all our needs plus went overboard to make our last two nights there to be extra special. Its workers like this that do make a difference. Dont let the size of this resort fool you, it is large and it was full to capacity while we were there but it never seemed crowded, you never had to wait in line at the bar or the buffet. Although they do have some al le carte restaurants we felt the buffet had such a big variety and the food quality was so great we never looked any farther than the buffet for dinner. I would not hesitate to book a vacation with this RIU again it not only met but exceded my expections.

Our 35 th anniversary. Fantastic hotel and we loved it, but there are some elephants in the room! On arrival, they upgraded us to a lovely room with a great balcony on the 12th floor. Everything is clean and in very good order. we tried most restaurants and they are all lovely, Italian was our favourite which is weird because I thought I didn’t like Italian food. The pool areas are all clean and well kept. And if you fancy going down to the beach, which is next to the pool area, there are two or three lovely little bits of coastline, and I have to say the waiter service here is outstanding. The waiters do like a tip, but you never feel like you have got to give them a tip. They never look wanting and never ask. Every now and again, I would give them a $1 note . A few things that aren’t great, but can’t really blame the hotel number one is the noise from the hotel disco next door four times a week is ridiculous, It is so loud And vibrates the floor. But if you decide to go and have a look as it is free entry been part of the group, they are quite fun and don’t seem so loud when you’re there, and of course it’s still all inclusive, and the only other thing that I would say isn’t perfect is it can get really busy at peak breakfast and evening time in the main restaurant but that might be because it is so good! we loved the breakfast and evening meals . Top tip jump on the bus which is just outside and gointo the main town for $1 each they run every few minutes

We fully enjoyed the pools, bars and hotel accommodations. There was a significant variety of foods available in the Las Olas buffet and restaurants. I really enjoyed trying different soups at lunch and dinner every day. The staff are amazing and sweet and did so many lovely decorations on our table to make us feel more special. Shout out to Maria at the dinner restaurant Las Olas who made us feel like we were on date night every night. The bed was regularly decorated with towel. Characters and animals compliments at the housekeeping, staff. The bed was comfortable, but I did slip in the shower one time because the floors are marble . I added a small towel in the shower stall to stand on so I didn’t slip in the future. Great resort right on the beach with good pricing for our stay❤️
