This was our first visit to Mauritius and we weren’t disappointed. The hotel wasn’t that busy which definitely worked in our favour so we probably saw it in a good light. The hotel and the location were great and the place was spotless and the grounds were very well maintained and situated right next to a lovely beach. The staff were all fantastic and really attentive and very helpful always with a nice greeting and a smile. We could name many but Kadish, Vikish and Lill were probably worthy of a special mention. The quality of the food and drink was very good with plenty of choice in the main buffet. It was always nice to start the day with a lovely breakfast washed down with some fizz! We paid extra for the Elite Club which had some benefits but the priority booking offered for the a la carte restaurants didn’t seem to exist and while offering a later 1.00pm checkout we were locked out of our room without any notice at midday! It was worth it though for the excellent Elite Beach Bar and pool and the dedicated exclusive breakfast area was a lovely way to start the day. The transfer from the airport at 75 minutes is quite long but proved worthwhile in seeing some of the island with a good part of the journey along the coast road. We managed two bookings at the a la carte restaurants one in the Elite Club Restaurant and one at Krystal. It was nice to be waited on and the meals were great but you do need to persevere in trying to get a booking as it’s difficult to book and don’t bother with the App and ask at reception. They don’t do bookings at the two restaurants at the adjacent RIU Turquoise hotel the Steak House and Bangalore you just have to take pot luck and turn up to find no vacancies! Unfortunately during our stay a Category 3 Cyclone was tracking close to the island. It went safely by with minimal damage but it did cause some disruption with the hotel having to follow certain protocols to ensure the safety of all guests. This included the closure of some facilities. We were disappointed with the lack of communication from management during the 48 hour period. It wouldn’t have been too hard to post updates on the App or in reception. Once cyclone had passed it took at least 24 hours for normal service to be resumed and all the facilities to be reopened with no real sense of urgency. We lost 2 days of our holiday for what turned out to be a big storm. It took 3 days for all the leaves to be cleared from around the Elite pool and for the cabanas to be reconstructed. Why some of the bars and the a la carte restaurants remained closed 24 hours after the storm had passed the island remained a mystery but was presumably down to staffing levels. While appreciating the need to take care and follow mandated guidelines better communication and an increased sense of urgency to get things back to normal would have been appreciated. We had a lovely time and would certainly return but would look to try and avoid any further cyclones!

Beautiful location, great new hotel, nice pool, picturesque beach, fabulous food, very few people. We’ve spend 10 nights in February 2025 in Riu Palace and would recommend to anyone. Please note that Palace is “adults only” and adjacent (actually sharing the same plot) Turquoise is for families. Things to improve: cleaning service in rooms, cleaning the beach (there is no service and it happens that sun umbrellas fly over the beach, and you find rubbish in sand).

I felt like in heaven. This kind of luxurious relax vacation is just what we needed. We are especially thankful for professional managment of elite area to supervisor Lill who kept everything during the day as it should. Theres nothing to complaint about hotel in general at all!

When we were looking to book to go to Mauritius, this hotel wasn't coming up. It was only someone mentioning on a Facebook group that it had recently been refurbished that made me look at it. We decided to upgrade to the Elite Club just before going, so I can only really share our experience with the benefits this gave us. Our experience was also possibly made a lot more enjoyable by the fact that the hotel was not at full capacity. Our room: We were in a second floor room, overlooking the Elite pool and sea. The room was fabulous, very spacious and everything was new. Housekeeping kept the room spotless. We only had soft drinks and snacks from the mini bar, but it was kept topped up regularly and there was no shortage of bottled water. The bed was super comfortable and there were both hard and soft pillows available. The only negatives regarding the room was the floor was quite slippy when you got out of the shower and there was only one USB port on one side of the bed, but that wasn't particularly an issue for us. The air conditioning is set to go only as low as 24 degrees, which for the majority of the time was fine, but there were a couple of nights it felt a bit stuffy. There aren't any lifts either, so shout out to the lovely guy who lugged our cases up two flights of stairs! The pool area was lovely, comfortable loungers with plenty of shade. The pool was very warm, which we loved. Clean towels were placed out every morning. If you wanted to sit on the beach, there were plenty of beds and parasols. The food was exceptional. Plenty of choice in the buffet and if there was something you particularly want, they will make it for you. We ate at two of the speciality restaurants which needed to be booked and the food was just beautiful. We also ate at the steak restaurant and the Turquoise next door and didn't really enjoy it. The restaurant was super busy and the food wasn't on a par with the other restaurants. The staff were all just lovely and are the hotels greatest assets, they couldn't do enough for you. We didn't really go to the entertainment in the theatre bit, it didn't seem particularly well organised. But the singers that were outside by the bar were lovely to listen to while having a drink Niggles: We opted for the Elite option, and paid quite a lot of money to do so, and we felt this wasn't monitored properly. There were a couple of occasions when there were non-Elite guests using the pool and the beds around them, and bearing in mind we had selected this hotel because it is adults only, there was even a family with a child from the Turquoise using the pool. It also didn't seem to be particularly monitored in the dining areas either. While we appreciate that there has been a huge investment in this hotel and the management were trying to get everything to give the best service possible, having the line of staff by the door of the buffet saying enjoy your dinner literally every time you walked out, meant it ended up just feeling like they were doing as they were told and it didn't feel very special. The constant requests for surveys was a bit of a pain too, particularly as it seemed to be as we were having meals. Maybe just do one, as guests are about to leave? But that said, I cannot recommend this hotel enough and I would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you to all the staff at the RIU Palace for giving us a truly amazing holiday!

This is a very good hotel. Recently refurbished, beautiful interior and all round great service. Our room was quite big, comfy bed and sofa, and a large bathroom. Cleaning every day was very good. Warm, welcoming and helpful reception staff. Skilled bartenders and waiters, and greats drinks, which is not always a given at all inclusive hotels. The buffet was really good for breakfast and lunch, but the dinner buffet was not quite the same for us. Nevertheless, the staff was great here as well. The speciality restaurants were all nice, but Steak House and Krystal the best of them. Opening hours in the app and the sign outside the restaurant did not correspond. Also, they should have booking for the most popular restaurant (steak house). Pool area was brilliant. Not cramped, plenty of shade and a huge plus for a good pool bar. Also a very nice beach with plenty of sun beds. Very idyllic! After check out we could still use all the facilities (pool, showers, food and drinks) until our departure. Great service! PS: Don’t read to much into the weather forecast. It said it would rain more or less every day, but we only had a couple of afternoon showers and very light rain for short periods (minutes) a couple of days.

Just returned from Riu Mauritius and had really great experience. Hotel is located on the very south part of island. Staff if really the highlight. Krystal restaurant absolutely amazing all 3 of them working there very polite and friendly. Le morne bar was our place to be in the evening. The gentleman in charge and another bar staff just amazing really relaxing and we loved their special cocktails. Wood definitely be back. Only downside is pool bar where you can hardly enjoy drinks after 5.30 where you can actually watch sunset which is beautiful and animation team very poor and not big fun to be sharing with kids in the evening when you book for adult only

Riu Palace Mauritius: 01/12 - 11/12 Myself and my partner stayed at this hotel for 10 nights and had a fantastic time. For those who don’t wish to read a massive review, in summary this hotel is fantastic, great value for money and I would recommend and return myself to this beautiful hotel. Me and my partner had always wanted to go to Mauritius and this hotel and stay didn’t disappoint. It lived up to and exceeded our expectations. At the time of booking and seeing it was rated 4* + I was slightly dubious as when travelling abroad I feel better knowing the hotel is rated 5*. However, following us arriving at the hotel, checking in and experiencing the main buffet and resort complex it was already evident that this hotel should be rated 5*. Having travelled all over and staying within similar resorts within the Caribbean, Mexico etc this hotel matched the expected standard of what would be expected. The resort itself is spacious, well laid out, and provides a real tropical oasis. It is situated in a fantastic part of Mauritius close to all South/West landmarks and activities providing multiple options for excursions outside of the hotel. I personally feel knowing that this hotel is on the beach at the full front of the ‘under water waterfall illusion’ makes it feel really special. The food variety was outstanding within the buffet and every lunch and dinner was exciting to see what the variation would be. No day was the same and the range would suite everyone. We were particularly impressed with the fresh ramen section, sushi, Asian choices as well as speciality meats and fresh fish choices nightly. I would say that the buffet food was better than 5 * Mexico hotels I have experienced. All of the food was flavoured really well too, and it was clear how passionate the cooks were and head chef as you would see them inspecting the food and buffet. All of the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Owen on the front desk was particularly helpful and welcoming and to have him on the front desk meeting, greeting and assisting you during the stay really put you at ease. The beach is a beautiful long stretch of sand, allowing for walks. The water is lovely and there’s lots to explore. In summary, if you want to go to Mauritius, I wouldn’t think twice about booking this hotel.

Very mixed report, not up to normal RIU Palace standards. We have visited 5 RIU Palaces in last 18 months, we know what is normally on offer. Location excellent. Rooms good. Food ok, but limited. Staff tried hard, but since hotel rebuilt, urgent need for training to provide normal service. We gave a list of complaints to TUI rep to take up with RIU management, no response. The staff wanted to do their jobs, but struggled with how. Bars and restaurants particularly seemed understaffed, putting staff under a great deal of pressure. I have never complained before, however halfway through I paid another £400 to upgrade to Elite. An improvement however several clients who complained got this free. We have 3 weeks at RIU Palace in Macao in a few weeks, apprehensive at the moment, wish I was in Elite Club there, however RIU says I have to wait to see if any Elite Club rooms when I arrive, which is unacceptable. Hopefully the staff will gain experience and increasingly trained, certainly more staff required. If that happens, I would revisit in say 2/3 years.

I do not recommend. A huge behemoth with another Riu Turquiose (where there are already children) next door. Cons - monotonous and cold food - no sea food on the menu (apart from a trace amount added to sauces) - lack of managerial care: between 8:30-9:00 a.m. a lot of people gather, as a result there is no place to eat in the shade. If the manager took an interest in the situation and the employees taking care of it and did not stand like a peg at the entrance, maybe the employees would be able to clean the tables at the request of waiting guests - unfriendly reception. They will not show you your room, give you a card and goodbye. - not enough umbrellas for sunbeds - not enough towels Pros - despite the negative reception, the rooms are quite large, as is the terrace. As a result, there is a place to escape from the hustle and bustle. - vegetation To sum up, for all incl fans who value quantity over quality - this may be a good option, due to the size of the facility and the amount of food. However, if you want to relax and not wait from the morning for a sun lounger with an umbrella and a beach towel and you value the quality of food - I suggest choosing a different hotel.
