Great location, more 4 star than 5 star hotel but we enjoyed our stay.

Whole place is rather tired, very traditional decor (ok if that’s your thing) Bed very hard, walls paper thin (could hear everything our neighbours said), bedding quality could be better, was ok but duvet a bit ‘cheap’, all in all though fabulous location and nice hotel, breakfast good, staff make it a super enjoyable stay.

I Highly Recommend This Elegant and Amazing Hotel
This is the second time I have stayed at the Metropole in Venezia and I highly recommend it. The hotel is exquisite in every way. The history, the comfort, the staff, the location, everything is taken to an exceptional caliber and worth a stay.

We had a really great stay here over Christmas 2024. Hotel and location are both very good. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Alda, who looked after the Breakfast service during our visit, was especially so - always charming and attentive. We had the Gala Dinner at the hotel on 24/12, which was very good, but there were also plenty of alternative restaurants open for business. Venice is great at Christmas, not least for the lack of crowds. For the most part everything is open, perhaps a bit less on Christmas Day itself, so what's not to like.

What a lovely stay we had at the Metropole, in Venice. The location was great with only a short walk to st Marc’s square and the bridge of sighs. Water boats are situated directly out the front of the hotel making trips to other locations easy. The hotel itself was top quality. Waking up each morning to looking over the lagoon was beautiful. The breakfast was very tasty with a big selection and situation in a romantic outdoor space. Hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself had treasures hidden in every corner. Cosy and welcoming. We used the spa and it was out of this world. You pay for a 2 hour slot and get the whole spa area to yourself. We had a massage by Roberta and she was great. The only downside at the hotel is that the tea and coffee making facilities in your room come with no milk. We asked for some milk and got charged €6. It did come on a tray in a silver jug, so very glam. Being from the uk , we like milk with our tea and coffee. But this is the only thing we can fault the hotel on. If you can afford to stay here then do it.

Having stayed in many of the top waterfront hotels in Venice, and with prices having gone up 50% in the last 2 years(from an already crazy amount!), a long search brought me to the Metropole. It is an ancient building, where Vivaldi lived and taught music, and right on the Riva Schiavoni, 3 bridges walk away from San Marco. Inside, the hotel is VERY dark and heavy, full of bric-a brac in cases etc. There is an attractive public lounge. We had a large, airy junior suite on a hotel corner, with 3 large windows looking out to the lagoon .Amazing views!!! Excellent bed, A/A , great bathroom even with bath! Good breakfast in an inner courtyard. Let,s be clear. This is a 4 star hotel in a great location. It is NOT among the very top hotels of Venice, whose prices now have gone from over the top to certified crazy. Those place are NOT worth it. Metropole gives a good alternative for an inflated but acceptable price, with all the other advantages of the other top hotels. A good choice.

As the couple travelling with us had never been to Venice we wanted them to enjoy an authentic experience close to all the major tourist spots, so, I came across the Metropole and thought it appeared to be the perfect place. It was the right choice. A small, family owned, 5 star hotel on the lagoon. We felt like friends here, it’s not like staying in a huge hotel where you are simply a number. The team here clearly wanted us to feel welcome and at home. Arriving by water taxi directly to the hotel jetty is certainly impressive. Inside the hotel, the design is very authentic and incredibly unique. The interior is dark, dramatic, theatrical and full of original antiques lit by dim atmospheric lighting and candles. This is true Venice. Here we were in a historic building surrounded by original artefacts, just what we wanted. We found the hotel very peaceful, relaxing and clean. We enjoyed wonderful breakfasts and drinks in the secret garden. The breakfast table was beautifully displayed with a fabulous selection and the overall ambiance takes some beating. No noise or queuing. The most fabulous breakfast team, the best we have ever experienced, always greeting us with a smile and the drinks we requested. The garden certainly is a dream place and we loved it. We booked 2 rooms, a lagoon view junior suite and a garden view room. Both were delightful and spacious with great views. The furniture and carpets were not worn, as I thought they may be. Everything was in good condition. The bathrooms are small, but you are in Venice, so we don’t worry about that. Overall, fair value and a lovely hotel where are happy to recommend.

We stayed here for 3 nights prior to our Venice Simplon-Orient-Express trip. Our luxurious adventure in the lagoon-side paradise of Venice began with a private speedboat ride from the airport to Hotel Metropole. Located in the heart of Venice, overlooking the lagoon and just a few minutes walk away from Piazza San Marco, Metropole was enchanting with its dark/velvety interior & Oriental theme artefacts. Welcome at Metropole was first class. We were greeted with chocolates, a bottle of champagne & a complimentary private Spa session by Railbookers in the room. Our room was very spacious and had side views of the canal. Decorated really nice with original period furnitures, fabrics and velvets that reflect the tradition of Venice. The hall way is decorated with Oriental style fans and antique collections. The room was serviced everyday. However, didn't have tea/ coffee making facilities but there was a table outside the room where guests can make hot drinks. Loved the burgundy staircase and the Pink breakfast room. Breakfast was really good with hot and cold options & friendly service. We didn't have any other meals at the hotel as we were out the whole day and ended up having dinner before coming back to the hotel every night. We had drinks at the Oriental Bar one night. Very cosy atmosphere, but price wise on the high end. The Spa slots need to be booked in advance. The Spa is located near the Venetian courtyard. During the warmer months this space is used for breakfast. The whole beautiful spa was for our private use for 90minutes. There were facilities to make hot drinks as well as water & cool drinks. We spent some time in the Hamam sauna before using the heated pool. The water jets were fabulous and very strong too. There was an ice waterfall where the guests can use the ice to cool them down when they are in the Hamam. I've never seen a spa are as beautiful as this before! It was the best 90 minutes ever. It was decorated beautifully with fire place as well. The lovely lady who manages the Spa is so kind and helpful. If the guests are interested in having a any Spa treatments, then they should check and book at the reception. Thank you so much for this beautiful experience 💗 We had a fantastic time at in the Spa and at the hotel itself!

The Concierge service & staff is the best we have EVER experienced in all our 20 years of travel. Bar None! 5 star+++ Staff, food, room and entire facilities cleaned and spotless. Venice is “overrunning” with tourists. Thank goodness we had the quiet and calm of the hotel to return to in the middle of the day and evening. Much praise for the individual service we had each evening for happy hour ( never more than 4 to 5 guests). By second evening our bartender was just bringing our drinks as we were sitting down. Wonderful taxi service straight to hotel private canal entrance. No dragging suitcases! What a hot mess seeing this coming and going all day long all over Venice.

A slightly mixed experience, with the Staff, always a vital ingredient falling short in our opinion. The pros: rooms were of a good size and the hotel is brilliantly positioned at the end of the Grand Canal. Arriving by water taxi straight to the hotel pier was really special and took any hassle of walking out of it. Definitely worth doing. Plenty of interesting antique showcases in the hotel as well. Breakfast was included and there was plenty of choice from continental buffet to scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. It was of a high quality. The cons: aside from a couple of staff, we felt that in general they fell short. The maitre d in the restaurant was efficient but not friendly. The 2 younger concierge staff were hopeless. Example: we emailed when out and about (because we had tried to ring the hotel 3 times, it went through to music then cut us off each time after 30 secs - not great) and asked for help with a restaurant booking we had been recommended. No answer to the email, but fair enough they may have been busy. When we got back to the hotel we followed up with the 2 staff and were promised an email reply about dinner that night or the following night. Never got a reply. Oh and I had made sure we tipped the concierge (those two) on arrival.

My wife and I booked the hotel for a short stay, arriving Wednesday evening and leaving Sunday morning. From the moment we arrived until we left, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Every staff member we encountered, whether in corridors, at reception, or during breakfast, greeted us first and appeared genuinely happy that we were staying at their hotel. The hotel has a classic style in keeping with Venice. Each hotel room has different furnishings and has a plush feel. We had breakfast in the hotel each day. The food selection was very good, with cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cooked items, cheeses, cold meats, pastries, and cakes. Breakfast was served between 0730 and 1030. We went to the Oriental Bar (hotel bar) each evening, and the bar staff were exceptional. A particular mention goes to Andrea and Lorenzo, both of whom made us feel like long-term patrons. They remembered our favourite drinks and accommodated requests for drinks not listed on the extensive menu. We used the hotel spa for a 90-minute experience, which included individual massages, a steam room with black soap, and a spa pool. The spa is small, so we had it to ourselves, except for the time the masseur was with us. The hotel is less than 10 minutes from St. Marks Square and looks out across the Canale di San Marco. Like almost the entire city, a large selection of restaurants is within 5-10 minutes' walk of the hotel. The hotel has a main entrance on Riva degli Schiavoni and a private entrance accessed by the Rio de la Piet (canal) running alongside. Two minutes from the front of the hotel are jettys were the frequent water buses stop.
