The hotel offers overwater bungalows with fabulous snorkeling right off the deck. The location is in walking distance of shopping. The rooms are cleaned and refreshed two times a day with fresh linens and beautiful flowers with great showers. There is an espresso machine in the room and a breakfast buffet is included. The infinity pool is a lovely place to relax and the grounds are well maintained. It was a delight to spend time in the spa for a massage. There is also a dock next door where you can sign up for local water activities and the WiFi was great.

Wonderful resort. We stayed in an over the water bungalow and loved it!! We could snorkel off the back deck. We saw beautiful fish and even an octopus right under our room. The rooms were clean. Even with others guests present, the resort never felt crowded. We included breakfast with our stay and would highly recommend this as the food was excellent. Soraya and Teharati provided amazing and friendly service each morning as we met our friends for breakfast.

An amazing resort! We treated ourself to a deluxe over water bungalow. This experience was on our bucket list!! We loved the resort. Beautiful updated bungalow. Loved the viewing window in the floor. We were fortunate to several sea turtles and a reef shark from our balcony. Food and beverage services were excellent. We enjoyed the breakfast provided. The Polynesian show and dinner were excellent. The resort was being updated and everything looked good. Convenient location close to village. Dinner at Rudy’s restaurant in the village was also very good.

We spent the week of thanks giving at the Manava Beach Resort; the hotel is OK although it would need to be refreshed; the surroundings are not super appealing; However, there is a gem hidden in the resort - the Spa where Bella and her twin sister are officiating. They learned their craft from their grand father and the massage is simply sublime, so sublime that I went back 3 times in 5 days which had never happened to me before; This is not just a marvelous Polynesian massage, it is a wonderful healing experience. You feel Bella’s energy throughout your body as she pours her kindness and care through her magical hands. You come out with not only a relaxed body but a clean heart and soul. I have done hundred of massages over many years in many places; this is by far the best I ever experienced.

We are budget travelers but this time we decided to use Costco Travel. We visited 4 islands. For Moorea, Costco selected the Manava Beach Resort. We read a bunch of reviews on various sites and felt good about it. And then we checked in. A staff member gave us a tour of the property and advised us not to leave any food out as it would attract ants. She showed us to our room, and the first thing we noticed was all the ants … attracted by the welcome flowers. On the bed, the day bed, bathroom counter, and dresser. We spent the next 30 minutes killing ants. At that time we decided to check out the mini bar. It was completely empty. Odd. It also wasn’t cold. We had leftover drinks from Taha’a so we put them in the minibar. We went for a swim and returned a few hours later and the minibar still wasn’t cold. We went to reception, explained the minibar was empty and also not cold. We got that says “You Americans are so clueless …”. The lovely lady explained that it was a minibar, not a refrigerator. At this point my wife and I looked at each other and thought we both missed something. The woman clarified that a minibar is for cold drinks you buy to keep cold, but it is not a refrigerator. We were so confused. We went back to the room, dazed and confused, but proud that there were very few ants. We laid on the bed and my wife screamed … a gecko just dashed out of her pillow case. She was so ready to check out. After she settled down I had to use the loo. The toilet was in a small closet with an inward facing door that passed 2-3” in front of the toilet. You could not close the door unless you straddled the toilet and shut it. I thought it was funny but my wife wasn’t amused. The room had an electric kettle. Good. I wanted to make some coffee but noted there were no outlets close by. I had to move the dresser to use the outlet. We went to the buffet breakfast, included in the Costco price. It was interesting. Not much variety compared to the other hotels, and there were a lot more birds than people eating there. Seriously. Birds munching on a bunch of the food items. If you were eating at a table and turned away or went to get something, your plate was fair game. We saw croissants being carried away. I love to snorkel but the area surrounding the hotel was mediocre. Not the clear blue sea associated with Moorea but murky, and with a lot of seaweed. On the side of the overwater bungalows the depth went from about 5 feet to about 30 feet. We stayed 5 days and survived but I doubt we would go back. On the plus side, everyone we dealt with was great!

Service was absolutely terrible. Staff was not attentive, entirely unresponsive and essentially non existent. We stayed here for our HONEYMOON. We paid for a villa with a private pool. We had ants on our pillow and by the coffee machine and the outside door was “locked” by a rock because it didn’t close properly. The hotel does not offer transportation from the airport or port so you have to organize your own car or try to get a taxi (there are only 42 on the entire island). The check in process has you waiting around in the lobby until 2pm by yourself. Room service did not replace towels, throw out trash or provide new water. As someone who is very conscious of conserving towels when I can and only asking for replacements when necessary this was extreme irritating. When we asked the front desk if we could have a bottle of water they told they only provide one free bottle of water PER STAY. Not per night. Not per person. One bottle of water per stay. Trying to order more than one drink at happy hour (which goes from 5pm-7pm) is impossible because the staff never comes to your table. And when my *new* husband went to ask concierge about a specific lotion for sun burn, they told him concierge was closed… even though they were literally sitting at the concierge desk. After pleading with them, they wound up giving him the wrong information anyway and he had to go to the store twice to buy a different cream. The only positives about this place are the dive shop located on the premise and the random show we had at dinner one night (it was not on the schedule in the lobby). If you’re looking to spend a decent amount of money on a cheap stay then this is your place. But if you’re looking for quality service, then stay anywhere else.

We stayed in this small, neat resort upon recommendation from our travel agent. Location is one of the biggest advantages of this resort. It is close to the airport and car rental companies. The staff has been extremely nice and helpful. Check-in/check-out process was quick and simple. The room was spacious and had nice bathroom, TV and AC. Beds were comfortable. Pool is large enough and offers nice view. Resort has 3 small beaches with shallow water that you can only wade in. It is full of beautiful fishes. If you want to swim you have to go under over-water bungalows, where it becomes very deep. There is a lot of broken corals on the beaches, so we recommend water shoes. We stayed in garden view bungalow for 3 persons and have paid CAD 4500.00 for 5 nights. Food is not included. We have not tried resort restaurants, but we did check the prices, and they are high. Probably double the price of those in Canada. There are bank, convenience stores and beach bar at walking distance from resort. The resort is very quiet. Music is only heard around beach bar. You cannot hear it even around the pool. There are no entertainers, either. So, it is much different from Caribbean resorts vibe. When we asked what is the reason for this, we were told that guests want it that way. We were not bothered by this, as we came to explore the nature and did not spend much time in a resort, anyway. Also, given the time difference of 4 hrs, we were quite sleepy around 8-9PM. So, in conclusion we would recommend this resort. We do not have anything bad to say. It is pricey, but this is French Polynesia, and everybody planning to come here should be prepared to pay big bucks.

We have been four nights in this resort. We booked an overwater bungalow, witch was nice and comfortable. Unfortunately at our check-in a very unfriendly receptionist explained us just a few things and then she took us to the bar, where a refreshing was offered. Instead of waiting for us, she just told us where our room was located. Nobody else came to take us to our bungalow, so we just had to find out where it was by ourselves. What a cold welcome!!! Anyway almost nobody of the staff comes to you with a smiling face. They all seem to be quite unhappy to work there. It just doesn’t give you a good feeling. It’s probably much better to find a different resort, where maybe the staff welcomes you in a more friendly way.

The resort seemed much older and smaller than I expected. The overwater bungalow was the most expensive room I have ever booked (over $1000/per night) so I was really expecting to be blown off my feet. While the view is lovely, the room seemed a little old. The staff seemed a bit over extended and the food at the restaurants were our biggest complaint. The pool is great but the beach is very small and right on top of the bungalows. The location is nice because you can walk in to a sort of town, but I think I would have been happier staying at the hilton, on the other side of the island closer to boating and other day activities.

My husband and I stayed a couple of nights at an overwater bungalow at Manava Beach Resort before a cruise. It was our 35th anniversary. I wished we had a longer stay as we both enjoyed ourtime there. The staff were super nice and the little things they put in our room were a very nice touch. (fragrant body oil, a black pearl pendant, a Tahitian cookbook) The room itself felt a little dark inside and slightly dated feeling. I however loved sitting on our deck looking out at the water and being able to snorkel right off our deck. I was initally disappointed with the snorkelling, as the reef looked quite bleached. There is quite a steep drop off. But when I went out later in the afternoon when the sun was not directly overhead, I spotted my first octopus! I was so excited! I also spotted a turtle. The second day I went out searching and managed to find the octopus again, in a slightly different location. We signed up for the private lobster dinner by the pool which was set up very lovely (but the lobster was little tough) I actually would come to Manava again just to see the octopus! I felt sad when we had to leave. Thank-you for a lovely stay.

There is nothing particularly wrong with Manava, but nothing really to recommend it either. The pool and pool area are older and modest in size, and look over the backs of the overwater bungalows so there is no real view from pool or restaurants. But clean and maintained. Not a large number of pool loungers, especially those with shade, definitely plan to lay claim early on nice days. At one point a French speaking couple made a huge scene claiming we had taken “their” loungers. I don’t know French but lots of hand waving and loud voices. We decided to move on rather than escalate. Whatever. The common beach is tiny and very close to the overwater bungalows, not at all inviting. The staff were pleasant but not particularly friendly. The overwater bungalows were OK but nothing special. The bungalow roof cut across the middle of the patio area at about 4 and a half feet high, making it hard to use the patio and partially blocking the view, an odd design. Things were kept clean, everything was serviceable, but at the price point, we had expected a more memorable experience.

It’s nice but you’re a captive audience really as there’s not many restaurants in the vicinity that are always open and the restaurant food was disappointing and overpriced. The overwater bungalows are nice but not all equal, the pool area was a bit tatty with cracked tiles and just a little shabby, the breakfast was poor with same choice every day and the coffee machines were not so good. The entertainment was the usual thing. I think I enjoyed the resort on Tahiti better.

This hotel was a total catfish experience. We booked a premium overwater bungalow and were so excited but upon arrival, it was clear how run down this property is. The photos on the website are not at all an accurate representation. Nothing felt luxury about it. See photos. We ended up taxing out of the resort every night to a nicer property 20 mins away to dine.

Off to a slow start. Stood in line to check In for quite a while. There was one woman handling guests while there were 3 others just standing around. When we got yo the front of the line we were told to go sit down and someone would come get our passports and credit card. Unable to check In before the official check In time but see others who arrived after us getting their rooms. Hope service improves once we get our room and settled.
