This is a lovely little boutique hotel, well located within easy walking of most of Florence’s attractions. Our room was spacious, although quite dark, with no outlook except the building opposite. The bed was very comfortable. The room was serviced only once daily, not twice a day as indicated on the website. Breakfast was a good selection of mainly continental-style food, with limited hot options. The staff at breakfast were very disinterested on all the mornings we were there, which lets down the hotel’s reputation. Reception staff, on the other hand, were excellent.

Palatial room with 20 ft. Ceilings and a bed so hard you could eat dinner on it. One of the largest and grandest hotel rooms we’ve stayed in. That said the enormous bathroom featured a tub that so deep it was a struggle for me (5’3”) to get in and out of safely. The windows were swathed in red & gold balloon style drapes but the only way I could look out the window was to step up on a deep ledge (which I did not do because there was nothing to hang onto). Italy is famous for many things and rock hard mattresses is one I didn’t know about. Same for the pillows. Woke up with a stuff neck every night. Cleaning staff was great! Breakfast room was elegant but poorly lit. Eggs were so salty they were inedible. Don’t stay here for the food, it’s limited at best.

A "very good" rating due to location, room size, and hotel decor and amenities. Our stay was salvaged by a room change to a higher floor. Room 113 is simply uninhabitable due to street noise, but our request to change was accommodated and remainder of stay was great. Staff is somewhat indifferent in attitude, but did accommodate us and thus we were able to enjoy our stay in what is definitely a beautiful hotel.

Memorable experience, can’t wait to be back.
Amazing hotel!! It’s thoughtfully decorated and very clean. It was a wonderful introduction to our first time in Florence and we plan to stay again! The concierge was incredibly helpful. The room was clean, comfortable bed, and good shower pressure. This hotel is unique and beautiful.
Let down by the service and noise.

We stayed at Hotel L’Orologio Florence in 2017 and loved it - hence booking the same hotel for this trip. Whilst there are many things to recommend about the hotel - especially the location - this time we were left disappointed by our experience. Our room 113 overlooked the side street and was VERY noisy at night. The only way to block out the sound of people and cars at night was to have the music system in the room on the maximum volume - the equivalent of “white noise”. On a side note, we have been travelling through Europe for the past eight weeks staying in 4 star hotels throughout and this is the ONLY hotel that did not have double glazed windows to stop noise/control heat on all guest room windows. This is unacceptable in a 4 star hotel. The staff on reception - bar the two most mature gentlemen encountered - seemed to have forgotten how to smile or acknowledge guests as they come in/out of the hotel. This was such a contrast to Hotel L’Orologio in Venice where we stayed a few weeks ago. Reception staff in Venice smiled and acknowledged guests as they passed by the desk each day. The Florence hotel front desk staff did not. Breakfast was from 07:00. We arrived at 07:15 on five out of our six days only to find no water/juice glasses and on one occasion, only one glass for the offered “bubbles”. The breakfast staff on these mornings were primarily focused on folding cloth napkins, rather than ensuring guests had glasses available to drink from. On one day, an empty bottle of bubbles was left on the breakfast bar and not replaced during the 30 minutes we remained in the breakfast room. We had to approach the staff in the breakfast room on each of our six days for a special order coffee (soy milk), rather than staff being proactive in offering coffees - as we had experienced at Hotel L’Orologio in Venice - and in every other hotel in Europe that we have stayed at during our travels over the last eight weeks. In short, we felt like we were an inconvenience to the breakfast staff. Again, this is unacceptable. On our sixth day, we went to breakfast at 09:00 and the experience was totally different. The staff smiled! It shouldn’t matter what time you arrive for breakfast - the experience should be consistent. We would like to note that Monica was the only breakfast staff member who smiled and was attentive - regardless of what time we arrived. We had booked our room directly through the hotel and were offered a discount in writing (via email) as we had a credit from a prepaid booking we had not been able to utilise due to COVID. When we went to check-out, the discount had not been applied. When we queried this, the older male and female staff members on reception started to speak to each other in Italian (they had been communicating to us in English prior to this). This conversation went on for a few minutes and we were made to feel very uncomfortable. Eventually there was an acknowledgment in English by the male in attendance that the discount the hotel had offered in writing would be honoured. The female in attendance looked furious about this and did not communicate with us any further. It made the whole check-out experience extremely uncomfortable. In summary, this is not an inexpensive hotel. Customer service is now sadly lacking at this hotel and based on our experience this year, we cannot recommend staying here.

This was an absolutely perfect hotel stay!! We loved our room, which we learned was the honeymoon suite, on the 5th floor. We were actually on our 20th anniversary trip but we'll take it! The room was so spacious, starting with a large marble bathroom with shower/bath, sink, toilet and bidet. The bedroom had a very comfortable king and ample space for us to unpack our clothes. In the main room there was a cabinet with a full length mirror, couch and leather chairs. But my favorite room was the terrace, with the best view of the Duomo and a table with 2 chairs that was perfect for reading, coffee or wine before dinner. The other amenities we loved were the breakfast and the central location. The front desk staff was very helpful with local recommendations for purchasing wine, where to dine, etc. I will definitely stay here again if I am lucky enough to return to Florence!

Lovely hotel in a great location. Our room was excellent with a comfortable firm bed, a very good shower and lots of space, and it appeared to be one of the smaller rooms! The breakfast was good and provided all that we needed. The short walk from the train station was very easy, although the understated hotel signing (there's barely a sign at all) fooled us briefly. Don't let this put you off since it was, overall, great stay.
