Restaurant: Breakfast was great, lots to choose from. Dinner buffet wasn’t great for us - hardly any choice and didn’t seem worth the hefty cost. Luckily they offer an al a carte menu so managed to get a burger. Maybe it’s because we went at the beginning of June so the hotel wasn’t as busy and they didn’t put as much food out?
Bars: The hotel bars are fab. The cocktails they make are lovely.
Pool: nice pool, never had an issue getting sun beds for the 6 of us. Super chilled out.
Rooms were really nice, super spacious and clean.
Recommendations:
-Cave Bar More
-Restaurant More
-Tutto Bene - perfect lunch spot, 2 min walk from hotel.
-Ponat Beach Bar
-Panorama Restaurant (Must book)!
-Gradska Kavana Arsenal (recommend booking)

From the minute we arrived, the warm welcome at reception to the lovely room we stayed in.. loved our daily chocolates at night too.
We were on the 5th floor albeit we didn’t have the best view but that didn’t spoil the stay.
The breakfast in the morning has absolutely everything available, the restaurant at night serves delicious food and then the rooftop bar is the icing on the cake.
The hotel is perfectly located on the Lapad Promenade with plenty of restaurants and bars a short walking distance away. So glad we booked to stay here for our first trip to Dubrovnik. Thank you for making it such a memorable stay, we hope to return.

This was our 4th visit to Dubrovnik, after staying just outside the old town 3 previous times we decided to stay in Lapad, an area we have visited for a day on previous trips.
We booked through Jet2 holidays for a 3 night stay in a deluxe double with sea view and balcony. On arrival are rooms weren't ready but the staff stored our cases so we could have a look around. The hotel was immaculate with very tasteful decor and the most amazing views of the bay from panoramic windows in the reception area. We were told the room would be ready for 2pm and true to their word it was. We stayed in room 912 on the 9th floor, the room was immaculately clean and welcoming with a fully stocked bathroom. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash and hand cream as well as the usual slippers and bathrobes(which, to be honest looked grubby!)
The beds were 2 singles put together but we're very comfortable. There was plenty of storage space and a safe and tea & coffee facilities. The fully stocked mini bar looked impressive but on looking at the extortionate prices we left it well alone!! Not even complimentary water, which after a long journey would of been welcomed!
The Best feature of our room was our view, this was to die for. The most stunning view of the the whole bay and out to sea, and was the perfect setting to watch the sunset.
We stayed B&B and only went for breakfast on our 1st morning as it wasn't to our taste. The bacon was pure fat and very greasy, the sausages were like hotdogs and omelette were very greasy! There was plenty of fresh fruit and juices, but the pastries were tiny! My husband enjoyed the coffee but the tea I received was absolutely awful! Luke warm water and tea that just didn't brew.
The pool area was lovely and clean with fresh towels available to use and lots of sunbeds. We didn't use any of the bars as the prices were ridiculously high! On offer as cocktail of the week was Gorgans gin & tonic for €9! How is that justified. Other cocktails were priced up to €18.5 and local beer €8 a bottle! The hotel had no evening entertainment on for the whole of our stay which was disappointing as the actual area of Lapad was deadly quiet with most bars and restaurants being empty which was a shame as on previous visits it's been quiet bustling area. The local restaurants have increased their prices quiet considerably since our previous visit for both food & drinks. The beach area was all closed down so no sunloungers or beach bar/restaurant. Overall, we had a nice time, visited Gruz, the old town and surrounding area of Lapad. Unfortunately, we will not be returning as we feel that the change to the Euro has killed Dubrovnik, which is a shame. We have lovely memories of Dubrovnik to remember forever. On a 3 night stay without paying to visit tourist attractions as we've already done them we spent over £1000 on food and drink which wasn't at the most expensive restaurants & bars!!!
Tip - Go to Tommy Supermarket for your snacks & drinks, just a short work from the hotel.

We have just returned from our first visit to this area and are so pleased we chose to stay at this hotel
It's location is excellent. On a promenade which is great for a stroll at all times of the day. Just a short walk to a bus stop then a short drive to Dubrovnik old town.
We only had a classic room; a balcony but no sea view. This wasn't a problem as the view from reception and the rooftop bar were always accessible and amazing!
The room was a good size, very clean, well equipped and comfortable.
The outdoor pool is now closed for the winter. We tried the indoor pool one day but with no windows we weren't keen.
We stayed half board and couldn't fault the selection or quality of the food at both breakfast and dinner. You had the option to dine inside or out.
The icing on the cake has to be the staff. Everyone we met from the cheerful cleaner, the lady who delivered the nightly chocolates, the restaurant staff, bar staff, reception staff were all friendly, helpful and good at their jobs.
During our stay we visited Cavtat, Lokrum and the old town several times. All worth doing, wear sturdy shoes to Lokrum. The Dubrovnik Pass is well worth it.
Visit the nearby Cave Bar too for another lovely spot to have a drink and soak up the sun.
We will miss these views. Thank you for a memorable holiday

We slept soundly every night, I asked for a couple of firmer pillows and they came within about 10 minutes. All the staff were so friendly and spoke very good English, I must give a special shout out to our room cleaner who was exceptional. Great selection for breakfast so kept us going till dinner, we ate a couple of times in the restaurant for dinner and had the buffet which was a great selection and delicious. Thank you to everyone and we hope to be back someday.

The contemporary interior design makes you feel you have landed in a class hotel and it did not disappoint.
We have nothing but praise for this amazing hotel and spa.
Without exception, all staff were pleasant and so very helpful. I happen to mention it was my birthday and our wedding anniversary, and they went out of their way to make both occasions so very special and memorable. I will never forget their kindness. Breakfast in our room on our anniversary, was an absolute indulgent gastronomic treat.
The whole hotel is spotlessly clean, bed clean a comfortable and turned down each night with a chocolate. Would definitely recommend.

Loved the funky decor and lighting in our room, good shower & comfy beds.
Really enjoyed the excellent live music in the the outside bar on a couple of evenings.
Indoor pool and spa were an added bonus, although it would have been good if the gym had opened before 8am.
Felt very spoilt, thank you for a fantastic stay in Dubrovnik!

A great priced bit of luxury in a great location and with brilliant staff.
If I had to say one negative it would be that the pool was pretty chilly. We swam in the sea which was still 23°.

Stayed 4 nights at Hotel Kompas in early September – nice hotel, excellent breakfast, good pool, cramped sunbathing area
We booked a room with a balcony and sea view. On arrival in Rm 926 we did have a balcony as described but the “sea view” was blotted out by 4 large conifers – to describe the sea view as a partial view would be generous.
We should have raised the issue on arrival (hence the title of our review) but we didn’t – our fault we know. After unpacking and sitting on the balcony for a short time we decided to raise the issue with the reception. With little hesitation we were told that if we came back to the reception at 09:00 the following day another room would be found by 14:00.
After sleeping on it we declined the offer as it all seemed a hassle and we had plans. Whilst declining the offer we tried to discuss our issue with one of the managers who just waved away our complaint. He knew the room did not have a full sea view and related comments on Trip Advisor just confirm this.
We have raised the issue with Jet 2 and currently awaiting their response
At the end of the day there is no way on gods earth did our room have a sea view. If it had said partial sea view we wouldn’t have booked it. Been back home a few weeks now and still rankled by the attitude of the hotel manager. Hope the review proves useful information for people considering staying at the Hotel Kompas.

Excellent stay. Highly recommended.
An excellent hotel, in a great location, with a lovely sea view.
Wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it.
Great staff, comfortable and clean rooms. Excellent food.
Short bus ride to the Old Town and great coastal walks in both directions.
Will be going again!

I hesitated between 4 and 5 stars, hotel was a great pick but markets itself as “5 Star” which it is not, but could be.
Pros
-Location is excellent if you’re looking to stay coastal in Lapad. The hotel backs up to a promenade walk that leads toward sunset beach, a row of eateries, and smaller stairs that lead down to the water along the walk. Made for relaxing walks at night with gelato and took advantage of the stairs down to the water during the day.
-We had difficultly getting an Uber or Bolt from the hotel to Dubrovnik City Halls. Staff called local taxi - cost 20 Euro. On the way back we picked up an Uber no problem for 6.70 Euro.
-Hotel is exceptionally clean and staff is generally friendly and helpful.
-Bed was larger than usual for Europe.
-Air conditioner performed well.
-Housekeeping comes by 2x day and is very attentive.
-Breakfast had a nice spread.
-We drove here and used our rental car several times, only real parking option is to valet.
Other Thoughts
-In previous reviews it was mentioned the hotel has its own sectioned off area of the beach - NO LONGER TRUE! Front desk confirmed September 2024 that they got rid of this area. Only beach option is towels (very rocky) or lounge chairs and umbrella for hire.
-I would recommend water shoes as the beach and water is rocky, and sea urchins are present. If you wanted a floating tube I would bring one.
-No kayaks/snorkel gear/floats available for use or rent from the hotel.
-Pool deck is okay - pool was ice cold despite being in the sun. Because the indoor nor outdoor pool are heated I don’t believe this is a 5 star hotel. Lounge chairs were not comfortable. Sea was warmer than the pool.
-We mentioned in the booking notes we were celebrating our Honeymoon - front desk acknowledge but no wine/fruit/Prosecco in the room. Not expected, but again not top notch.
-No complimentary water in the room. Mini bar is stocked at a cost.
-We did half board since the price wasn’t that much more. We ate dinner 3 nights via buffet option (if you want al a cart menu you need to ask specifically) and it was okay. Fine and did the job but nothing to write home about. Live music on Saturday night was a nice touch.
-Gelato place next door is great and reasonably priced.
-Seafood place next door has a beautiful sunset view at dinner, make reservations in advance as it was always full.
-I would spring for the Water View. All were reserved when I booked but it definitely would have made the stay better otherwise you’re staring at the parking lot.

We've recently returned from a stay at the Hotel Kompas, there was some good and some not so good. Firstly the hotel is extremely well kept and clean, there are fabulous views from many areas, especially the higher floors. We stayed half board and the food at both breakfast and dinner was good quality with plenty of choice. We had a seaview room which was a good size and nice enough, the balcony was glass fronted which added to the view from the room, the bed was huge and very comfortable. We found the staff to be perfectly fine, the 2 gentleman in the restaurant who wore glasses especially so.
Now for the not so good - our stay was severely marred by a group of around 12 men (and I emphasise men as they weren't children) who took over a section of the pool and seemed to think everyone else wanted to listen to their inane conversation - we didn't. They insisted on shouting to each other even though they were no more than 12 inches apart, this got worse as the day wore on and the substantial amounts of beer they'd consumed kicked in. It put me in mind of either a) how I imagine Benidorm to be or b) an Essex boozer on a Friday night! The language was atrocious and wasn't even moderated when 2 ladies who were well over 80 were close by. One of these individuals even thought it would be amusing to break wind in his friend's face and as I say, these were grown men! For this reason alone I wouldn't return to this hotel just in case they recommend it to their equally loud and uncouth friends!
