Hotel Grande Bretagne is centrally located with a terrific 8th floor view of the Acropolis at breakfast and in the evening. Our room was very quiet (room #207) and comfortable. George, our butler, was extremely nice and helpful with explanations and local restaurant tips. Savvos was very nice as our breakfast buffet host. In fact, all the breakfast staff were very passionate (Tzeni also was very personable our first morning) about helping and serving guests. Overall, a great hotel with a sensational view of the Acropolis. 5/5 stars.

We stayed here the end of December and very much enjoyed it. Location is fantastic- lots of places to eat nearby, walkable to the acropolis/plaka/etc but the best part was that the square still had the holiday lights and decorations up which made it lovely. The staff is very professional...

We stayed here the end of December and very much enjoyed it. Location is fantastic- lots of places to eat nearby, walkable to the acropolis/plaka/etc but the best part was that the square still had the holiday lights and decorations up which made it lovely. The staff is very professional without being stuffy. Breakfast was very good- lot's of options and it comes with a great view! We didn't eat other meals there but did enjoy the bar for cocktails- they were not cheap but the bartender was superb and I love it when the bartender knows what they are doing. The room was a great mix of old world style and modern amenities. Would definitely stay here again!!!

Phenomenal customer service and 10/10 hotel. Huge thanks to Konstantinos and Alexandra at the rooftop bar for making our night super special and Ilias, Vaggelis and Vasia for exceptional service at the lounge. It's the staff that make this hotel memorable, and they go the extra mile for sure.

I have stayed here before and each time I come back the level of service is onnpar or better than before. The rooms are opulent (maybe too much so) but everything is perfect. The bedding, linens and amenities are 5* all the way. The service is impeccable and the staff never says no to any request. The spa and pool are an oasis and I spent hf the afternoon trying all the different steam rooms and saunas. This is still the best hotel in Athens.

The afternoon tea in Grande Bretagne is addressed to people who have never had afternoon english tea before in their lives! ONE miserable finger sandwich, scones that only the chef recognizes as scones, clotted cream frozen and tasteless and sweets,sweets and sweets! The Earl Grey had neither aroma nor taste.

Used points for a regular room, but was upgraded to a suite on the butler floor due my status in Bonvoy (posting just to show folks upgrades actually do happen still). It’s simply a beautiful hotel, with much historical significance to Athens. The Nazi’s used the hotel as HQ during the occupation, then the British did similarly once Greece was freed. Definitely select breakfast as an arrival choice, the top floor restaurant is very good and views are spectacular. Christina was an excellent server for breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel and shall return again,

A lovely hotel with fabulous rooftop restaurant overlooking the Acropolis. Very nice room. The Winter garden restaurant is also pleasant for lunch. The staff are efficient and friendly. Only a 20 minute walk from the Acropolis and near to Plaka

The lobby and central winter garden dining/bar area are beautiful. The praises end there. The basic bedrooms are grim. The room itself was so small that it it was challenging getting in and out of bed. The space is tiny, the furniture is ancient and stained and dented and worn...

The lobby and central winter garden dining/bar area are beautiful. The praises end there. The basic bedrooms are grim. The room itself was so small that it it was challenging getting in and out of bed. The space is tiny, the furniture is ancient and stained and dented and worn out and ugly. There is essentially no room for more than a carry on bag sized suitcase - we had to clear the pint sized desk to place a checked in bag on top of it. The bathroom is small and dated and lacking in storage space. The small shower/bath combo is ridiculously designed and too narrow to comfortably stand in without fear of slipping. The chandelier above the bed has bent and dirty old faux candle lighting fixtures sitting at 45 degrees off vertical. The light fixtures on either side of the bed are similarly bent. The single nasty looking, uncomfortable, faded (maybe maroon or red decades ago) and stained chair in the corner of the room sums it all up - sad and unacceptable. There is no place to comfortably stand, sit, read, relax or sleep - not unless you do all that down in the lobby. A serious disappointment, history and public spaces notwithstanding. Not recommended.

This hotel was amazing. Well maintained, great location, walk anywhere within 20 min. Hotel staff was very professional and helpful. Roof top restaurant was great for drinks, Bkfast, and dinner. Don’t forget King George has Michelin star on its roof. Would recommend to anyone coming to Athens.

Just wonderful. Exceptional staff, beautiful rooms and stunning views of Athens. An outside terrace for breakfast with amazing staff. Cannot wait to return, run how a 5 star hotel should be run. This is simply one of the world’s great hotels which delivers a memorable experience. The staff is very excellent and helpful in a way that is professional and pleasant. The interior is historically and architecturally spectacular. The experience if eating in the rooftop restaurant with the famous view of the Acropolis will stay with you. It’s admittedly expensive but in this case worth it.
