Salzburg is one of our favorite places to visit in Europe and each time we return we feel at home. This was our first stay at the Goldener Hirsch, but it will not be our last! Beautifully located in the heart of the old town the boutique hotel skillfully blend traditional Austrian charm with modern conveniences. We stayed in a junior suite which was beautifully decorated, spacious and comfortable. We loved the delicious breakfast and initmate bar. The staff provide warm and personalized service as though you were a guest in their home! Our only regret was we didn't plan a longer stay.

One of the best hotels in Salzburg
Excellent service, beds are fantastic, authentic details everywhere in the room to the food to the old school 1lb brass key. Love this place. You feel at HOME almost immediately. Everything is done to the max including a delicious breakfast!
The hotel is a classic. It is located close to everything one would want to experience in Salzburg. The rooms are exquisite. Yet it is the associates, including the concierge Frau Stauffer, who make one's stay so memorable. Breakfast, under the guidance of Herr Wrobel, was delicious.
A M A Z I N G !!! Look no further. This is where you want to stay.

Top 5 greatest hotel stays ever. Im pretty hard to impress but this place impressed the heck out of me. This place is better than the photos on the website. When does that happen??!! The photos, which look a little hansel-and-gretyl ish, dont do justice to the in-person experience. Its all very understated gemutlichkeit and nothing opulent about the common areas. You might imagine yourself in a bavarian hunting lodge. I had a sinking feeling when they led us to our room across the street in an annex. In my experience that is usually not a good sign but our room was nothing short of fantastic. It might have been a suite, Im not sure. It had a seating area and one of the nicest bathrooms ever with good towels. The bed was the most comfortable ever of our 3 week trip with top quality bed linens - although an American will never understand the "duvet thing" in Germany and Austria (if you know, you know). Im sure this has to be the BEST location in all of Salzburg right at the very end of Getreidegasse. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night and it happened to be during a once-in-a-lifetime flooding in central europe. The next morning we were to find out that the trains were not operating due to damage to the tracks and we had no way to get to Vienna. The hotel helped us arrange a private driver which resulted in a HUGE unexpected cost, but thanks to the hotel, they saved the day. We travel often to Italy and Austria is a little out of the way for us but we loved this hotel and Salzburg so much we are going again in April after Italy and wouldnt even consider another hotel.

We stayed at Goldener Hirsch in September/October 2024, and we were left with wonderful memories! Their authentic old world-style rooms and exceptional hospitality was only part of this magnificent experience! It was our first visit to Salzburg, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! We were upgraded to a junior suite, and the room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The location is ideal, right in the heart of Old Town! Mozart’s birthplace/Museum is steps away, along with a wide variety of shops and restaurants (try Koller+Koller, an exceptional restaurant just a short walk from the hotel!). Pretty much everything you want to see and do is in proximity! The Goldener Hirsch is the perfect blend of historic charm and modern amenities! I can’t recommend this hotel enough!

What an amazing and charming hotel. And right in middle of action in Salzburg. A few doors down from Mozart birthplace. The best part of this hotel is its hospitality. Some of the nicest people welcoming you. Good breakfast as well. Get castle facing room if possible.

Wonderful stay that we'd gladly do again. And again. Excellent location near the tunnel, center of old Saltzburg/shops, and elevator/lift to the fortress level. Staff outstanding with all areas of help. Tip #1: some upper rooms have views of the fortress, which you can seek. Tip #2: there are many stairs between/among the 3 joined buildings, so if those are a problem, discuss at the time of booking and they can find one with minimal stairs. Tip #3: if you want to park your own car, the parking is on the other side (southwest side) of the tunnel; park there and walk through the hill/bluff. Breakfast was outstanding, with a lot of variety both on buffet and menu.

The Hotel is one we have stayed in several times and it has always been a very positive experience. It couldn't be more central and the staff are really there to help and have much patience. The Hotel couldn't also be in a better position to explore most of Salzburg on foot. We wanted to visit Burg Hohenwerfen Fortress along with the Eagles Nest during our visit and the hotel organised a fantastic private tour with CADO-Tours (cado.tours@aon.at). The tour with Sabine was very professional and accommodating and she took us to the best places and even arranged for priority booking/entrance to save us queuing. The weather for the Eagles Nest visit was unpredictable at the beginning of our stay but the Hotel and Cado were very accommodating allowing us to change the day of our tour needing only 24 hrs notice. Could not recommend this Hotel and the Tour of a lovely part of Austria more.

Although this small hotel was located right in the heart of Salzburg, it was quiet here and there was no noise from the street. My partner and I spent three nights here. The hotel was decorated in a traditional Austrian/German style - the furniture, the patterns on the tablecloths, even the traditional motifs on the sheets. It was this bedding that reminded me of my grandmother. She used the same thing when I was little. Our room was large. There was a bedroom, a living room and a wonderful bathroom. The bathroom had both a bathtub and a shower, there was a his and her sink, plenty of towels and places to hang them. At night, the lights placed under the bedside tables or the mirror in the corridor when they caught a movement they automatically turned on. It was very convenient because it was not necessary to turn on the main lights. I found the telephone on the bedside table absolutely gorgeous: it was a vintage-style elegant model with a rotary dial. Breakfasts were served in the form of a buffet. The selection was wide and the food very good. Every morning there was a "Morning Mail" on the table with tips on what will be going on in the city that day and what would be interesting to see. Staying at this hotel was absolutely amazing. I was satisfied with everything and felt very comfortable here.

We stayed for 5 nights & have just come home. The hotel is centrally located & ideal for exploring the historical centre on foot as it is within easy reach of all local sites. The room was particularly comfortable & it felt like home from home. Clean, comfortable with good furnishing. The bed was very comfortable & the bathroom was excellent with constant & powerful rainshower enclosure. There was a his & her sink. A nice touch was the radio in the bathroom. Toiletries were nice. The air conditioner was excellent as temps reached 35c while we were there & did not drop below 20c at night. There was a chocolate on the first & last night. I was not too keen from the coffee machine as the coffee was not pleasant we only used it once. It was Illy coffee. Breakfast buffet was lovely with a good selection on offer each morning serving cooked & continental breakfasts items. My only criticism were the pastries were not nice but l loved the honey & honey comb. The coffee served in the dining room was good. We loved the street restaurant area at the rear of the hotel but a shame that after a certain time all the chairs are padlocked together. All the staff we met were lovely & very friendly offering suggestions & tips to enhance our stay & visit to this beautiful city. I would definitely give a shout out to Patrick the barman who was very attentive & very amiable. I cannot praise this hotel enough it was superb & up their with the best. I would definitely stay here again.

Can't say enough good things. Great staff and very helpful. Received an upgrade to a one bedroom suite for my Bonvoy status. The room was very large with a very comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom is very luxurious and spacious. loved the warm floors, bidet and towel warmer. The in-room coffee maker is pretty fancy and needs to have instructions next to it on how to use it. The one disappointment in the room was the sofa. Extremely uncomfortable to sit on. Also, the AC only goes to 18degrees C. Personally we like it cooler. The beauty of the hotel let us overlook the temp. and go with being a little warm at night. Love the fact that there were motion sensor lights under the night stands, large mirrors and bathroom to help guide you at night if you got up out of bed. Sat at the bar a couple of times for drinks. Nice little bar and nice bartenders. Ate in the main restaurant. The food was excellent. Had the schnitzel. Not sure what its supposed to taste like since i have never had it before but it tasted really good. Had a nice Austrian wine. After you check in, everyone in the hotel will know you by name and greet you by name. Everything you would expect from a luxury hotel. Would definitely stay again if in the area. The location is right on the main street in old town.

From the moment you book to the moment you check out, you receive nothing but perfection. The staff is very professional and cater to your every need. We just needed to ask. We spent three nights in a junior suite and loved it. They have updated the hotel and also kept the old style with today's comfort. We enjoyed eating at their restaurant twice and really enjoyed the food and the service. The location is perfect, right in the middle of the old town. Taxi was able to take us all the way to the hotel door and pick us up at the same when we had to leave. We will definitely return when in Salzburg again.
