This is an excellent hotel in a central position in Rome between the Vatican and the sites of the old town. Our room was quiet, dark and spacious with a good shower in the bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful with good English. The buffet breakfast was excellent and available to 11 am which was perfect to set us up for a day of sightseeing. There were bars and restaurants in the immediate area but it was a short walk across the river to the old town with many a nice restaurant, bar and shop. We had a great stay and would thoroughly recommend.

We are dual Italian/American citizens, and travel to Italy quite often. We have to pass through Rome in order to drive to our home, and we ALWAYS stay at Hotel Mellini. Without exaggeration, this hotel is among the best in Rome with regard to room quality related to price, and location. The rooms are always clean, the linens are soft (very important to my sensitive skin), and the beds are equipped with both feather and hypoallergenic pillows. Like with breakfast, there's something for everyone. The hotel is located in a residential area, but within walking distance (10-20 minutes) of all major tourist attractions. There are fantastic restaurants close-by, and great shopping. But the best part of staying at Hotel Mellini is the staff. Everybody from the bellmen to the desk staff to those at the restaurant and bar is extremely kind and helpful, and everybody loves our little dogs. Five stars isn't enough!

Very friendly staff when arriving at this hotel. We were given a complimentary upgrade which was even better. The room was very large with lots of space and very clean. Location was good and quiet and not too far from the metro to get around the city. The Vatican is a walkable distance. The breakfast had really fresh ingredients and plenty of choice. We would happily return back here.

This hotel is really closer to "good" than "very good", but that's not an option on TA. However, it is an excellent value for it's location in the heart of Rome, which is why I opted for 4 stars. First of all, the interior of the hotel doesn't look nearly as nice in person as it does in the photos on the website. It's a little old and worn and the lobby is not spacious at all. Our room was large and quiet, and even had a large patio with table and chairs. However, the carpet was stained, the patio was covered with leaves and needed to be cleaned, and there didn't ever seem to be enough light in the room because no sun came in the window. There was a sofa, but no lamp so it was too dark to read. Also, there was a TV, but no Engish channels. On the positive side, it looked like the bathroom had been updated because it had plenty of room, good lighting and two sinks. The bed was comfortable, but possibly a little soft for some. The staff at the front desk was friendly, helpful and spoke good English. There was a small lobby bar where, one night, the bartendress was very generous in pouring drinks but, the next night, the bartender was very stingy. Both times we got complimentary snacks. The breakfast that was included with our room was a disaster. None of the tables had been cleaned when we got there around 9:00 and the food selection was small and uninviting. The second morning, we opted to go out to a nearby cafe instead.

We loved this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a great breakfast every morning before heading out for the day. When we took our Vatican tour, we took a taxi in the morning but walked back to the hotel. We also walked to our tour of the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Vanona Square. Conveniently located. Many restaurants close.

Every person we dealt with before and during our stay was just top notch: booking, concierge, bar service, breakfast service...all just very friendly and inviting people. Nice and varied breakfast: eggs and bacon, fruits, lots of pastries, and a selection of coffee and juices. The location is also great, right near the Vatican and easy to cross over the Tiber to walk to the rest of the city center. We have already said we'd definitely stay there again!

The pictures are deceiving. The hotel caters to alot of tour groups which creates alot of traffic. It is not well maintained. We had two different rooms and trust me, neither looked like the pictures. There is an odor of ammonia. We left a pair of shorts on the bed, not realizing it until we left Rome and were in Florence. We returned to Rome for last night (to a very dirty room, try and get one without carpet, the carpet is rather dirty) and no-one would help with locating the shorts. We Know we left on the bed. We are still emailing the hotel from the States without a response. One particularly unfriendly concierge staff member name is Patricio. He was beyond useless. Lacks personality and extremely uncaring individual. The continental breakfast is nothing more than packaged food (still in wrappers). If you want a pleasant experience, do not stay here. There are better properties in the area.

Lovely hotel, room ready early when we checked in. Staff so very helpful ( special mention to Silvia who assisted us when we had forgotten something whilst away on a trip) All of the hotel very clean and tidy. Good selection of food at buffet breakfast. Tea, coffee in room along with slippers and robes. Great location, approx 10-15 mins walk to the Vatican, same to the pantheon and approx 40 mins walk to the Colosseum. Couldn’t fault the hotel whatsoever, would wholeheartedly recommend.

wonderful service and cozy, clean room
Thanks to wonderful service and cozy, clean room, we could have wonderful time in Rome. Location was great as it was just a step away from hassle-full center. Breakfast was simple but taste was outstanding. I will definitely stay again on my next visit to Rome!

We stayed here for 6 nights and are so glad that we chose the Dei Mellini. As others have said it's in a great place to visit all of the main attractions. We stayed in a double deluxe room which was spacious and very clean. The terrace on the top is a relaxing place to eat, and sunbathe. All of the staff were very professional, hospitable, and helpful. The Prati area is a lovely place to stay in and in a great place to walk to most sites. I particularly loved to sit and relax in Piazza Cavour which is only a short walk from the hotel. If we ever are lucky enough to visit Rome again we would definitely book to stay at the Dei Mellini.

From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and furnished in keeping with the building. Breakfast was buffet style and available between 6-30 and 11 am and there was a wide variety of foods on offer. Coffee was lovely too. I’m very picky especially when staying somewhere new but there is nothing negative to say. One night we were very tired and had pasta on the rooftop terrace watching the sun go down which was lovely. Ideally situated for walking to most tourist attractions but much more peaceful. There is a Chinese restaurant down the road which we also tried one night in our way back from a long day at Pompeii. Very good value. Would definitely stay here again
