Just back from a wonderful stay at the Hotel Canal Grande. It was my first trip to Venice and a special treat for my 50th birthday, and the whole experience could not have been better. The hotel is stunning - our room was so beautifully decorated and very warm and comfortable. The views were breathtaking, and the staff could not do enough to help us, making reservations for us, arranging a trip to Murano, and generally being so friendly and helpful, nothing felt like too much trouble. I cannot wait to come back!

Wonderful 3 nights, walking distance from the train station, good access to the vaporetto stand, nice location on the Grand Canal, very friendly & attentive staff, excellent breakfast buffet, luxurious Venetian decor.
Water taxi to the airport, directly from the hotel's dock, was unforgettable, worth the cost.

From the moment we arrived we felt special and looked after in this wonderful hotel. Attentive, understated, friendly service and immaculate, well equipped rooms. Stunning location right on the Grand Canal, we loved sitting at breakfast watching the morning action on the canal. We booked the airport water taxi and were so glad we did, we will remember it forever. We also really enjoyed the Murano glass trip - forewarned from other reviews that it is of course a sales pitch we still enjoyed the free water taxi there and the fascinating workshop demonstration. We chose to wander further on Murano and get the vaporetto back ourselves. The terrace over the canal was a very special place for an evening drink.

My wife and I returned to Venice to celebrate both of our 75th birthdays. We chose to stay at Hotel Canal Grande for the second time. In my correspondence with the hotel, I mentioned that we were returning to celebrate. We arrived from the train station late in the evening in the rain. The walk from the station was miserable, but everything changed when we entered the hotel. Although it was 9 years since our previous visit, we were greeted as old friends by Chiara at the front desk. She had taken the time to “remember” all the details of our previous stay and informed us that we were to be upgraded to the same Canal View room that we had in 2015. We were told that this was both recognition of our birthdays and for being a loyal guest. When we got to our room there was also a birthday cake waiting for us.
During our stay, Chaira and Anka were at the front desk and did all that they could to make our stay enjoyable. From their help with restaurant recommendation and reservation, to recommendations for transportation options. They even provided help in finding Italian Pokémon cards that were requested by our grandson. They were welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and totally professional. They added greatly to the success of our stay in Venice.
The other 5-star reviews for Hotel Canal Grande are all true. This is a terrific place to stay when visiting Venice. It is an authentically Venetian boutique hotel. It is not in the middle of tourist crowds. It is conveniently located across from the train station directly on the Grand Canal with a small dock and deck area. Water taxis can dock directly at the hotel. There are two vaporetto stations located within a 5-minute walk from the hotel. From there you can get anywhere in the main city, or to any of the outer islands. If you choose, it is only a 20-minute walk to San Marco. Within a short distance from the hotel, there are many choices of restaurants, both large ones catering to tourists and small trattorias popular with locals.
I highly recommend Hotel Canal Grande. If you stay there, be sure that you take some time and have a glass of prosecco on the dock. Relax and watch the boats go by. It could change your life.

A lovely authentic hotel. We had an amazing stay, lovely welcome and very friendly and helpful staff. We had a lovely room with a canal view, the bed was extremely comfy. The location for us was ideal we could walk to the Rialto bridge in approximately 15mins and it was also only 5 minutes away from the train station, although we hired a porter for our luggage due to the steps on the bridge, this was definitely money worth spent.

Beautiful hotel, ideally located for visiting Venice City. Every hotel employee was helpful, friendly and professional. Lovely touch presenting a birthday cake to my wife on her special day. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended.

The hotel is conveniently located near the train station. However, the rooms are very small and cluttered. We had a larger room with a canal view and there was hardly any room to put our luggage. Also the hotel is located 30 minutes away from San Marco and you have to walk that far to get to the good stuff. What was the most disappointing part of our stay was our last night in Venice when my girlfriend wasn’t feeling too well and I called the reception desk to ask if she could have a bottle of water. The woman told me and I quote “you only get free water when you first check in so you can either buy a bottle from the mini fridge or just drink water from the bathroom sink “. I couldn’t believe what I heard. I have never been treated this way from a 4 star hotel. I will never stay at this hotel again. There are much better hotels with larger rooms that treat their guests better closer to the better parts of Venice. We had drinks on the rooftop of the H10 Palazzo Canova and all the guests told us what a great hotel it was. We actually stayed at the H10 Pallazo Galla in Rome and it was great. They even give you all the water you want!
