The concierge suggested we go and visit Pietasanta and we had fun. Here everyone goes crazy with bikes and we had a lot of fun too. The staff is very polite and nice, expecially at breakfast. The only issue is that they don’t have a shuttle, but who really cares?

We stayed at this hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. My husband surprised me and gave me a weekend in the most chic and glamorous hotel in Forte dei Marmi. We were immediately treated very well by the girls at the reception who booked us a beach club and restaurant. The rooms are very well furnished and clean. The breakfast is spectacular, lots of local products to taste. We met the Manager who showed us the hotel and we were happy. If we return to Forte dei Marmi we will return to the Byron.

Forte dei Marmi is busy and loud and expensive. But in the middle of it is this little boutique hotel called Hotel Byron. It’s located 15 min or so from the heart of the area, on a busy street. The sea is across the street and thru a private beach club where you can pay 50 Euro for a cabana for the day. Expect to be bothered frequently by vendors selling off-brand bags and dresses. The hotel itself seems recently remodeled and in the reviews you’ll see some unhappy ones who likely had an older room. Our room was remodeled nicely, the bathroom is spacious and the patio was cute, although looked over the busy and loud street so we didn’t use. The breakfast is good, as is the lunch. The pool area is pleasant, although again you can hear the cars passing on the street. The staff is kind and helpful, all speak English. There are much more relaxing places to be in Italy than Forte dei Marmi, but if you are here, I would recommend Hotel Byron.

This hotel was one of the most expensive in the area. The breakfast wasn’t great. The service wasn’t great. The staff were flippant and unresponsive. Most importantly the hotel does not allow the rooms below 23 degrees Celsius or about 75 degrees Fahrenheit. This wouldn’t be an issue if they had disclosed that. However, we wouldn’t have stayed at this property due to medical conditions that make warmer temperatures very uncomfortable. When we disclosed this to the hotel they didn’t care and didn’t offer any solutions. The hotel is more updated than others in the area but the AC was the worst of several lower quality and less expensive hotels we stayed in on this trip. Overall it’s overpriced in my opinion for what you get.

We love Forte dei Marmi and we try to come every year for some days at the end of the summer. I love hôtels and, despite not staying there, we wanted to try the Byron for a drink. I had been there some years ago...The gardens are immaculate as well as the entrance, the bike park...the lobby has recently been refurbished and it’s bright and modern. Personally I don’t like it at all as it is too goldish and doesn’t reflect the style of the villa and in ten years it will be outdated but that’s a question of tastes. The bar lounges are so charming with their old armchairs...hope they will not change them. We sat on the terrace for an Aperitivo and we were alone: the place only for us. Wow. We were almost ready to leave after finishing the delicious spritz and the Barman arrived with a selection of appetizers directly from their Michelin starred kitchens...what a treat! We felt really special and for sure next year we will go back for dinner!

The room smells of off gassing the bedding is made of some kind of awful foam, there was no air conditioning available so the room was hot which was further complicated by heavy linen bedding. Their solution was to open our patio doors but the traffic noise from the street was terrible so they gave us a fan that had zero effect on the noise or the hot air. They somehow decided since it gets cold at night now to shut off the AC and go to heat. The problem is it’s been hot and sunny during the day the room cannot cool off quickly enough without AC. The hotel allegedly is a 4.5 star or 5 star hotel but I’m not sure who or what has done the rating. In my experience I would give it a 2 stars. The rooms are small and cramped the bedding second rate as are the towels, most everything in the room is modern with plastic or vinyl the room smells of cleaning product and there is no room service. The bed is a torture chamber as far as back support (my chiropractor will be happy) I could go on. If this is a 4.5-5 star hotel the world needs a better rating system. Our alleged terrace with “water view” is really a Main Street view with partial view of water in the distance and a lot of traffic noise. If your in this area to go to Pisa or Lucca stay somewhere else and make a longer drive you’ll be happier. We also ended up here in mid October which is after the main season. It’s very difficult to find restaurants or stores open and the area has a creepy feeling like a ghost town. The breakfast area “opens” at 7:30am but you can’t order anything until 8am when the kitchen really opens.

We recently spent 4 nights at this property and frankly it was probably 3 nights too many. The room (112) was very small, but nicely appointed, it's too bad that it wasn't larger as it might have helped a little with our perception of the property. The front desk staff were helpful, knowledgeable and professional. However, the Michelin star restaurant was VERY disappointing. The food was mediocre and the service was beyond terrible. It appeared that the servers were desperately in need of training and supervision. The breakfast had very meager offerings of poor quality and again the servers showed the same inexperience that we encountered throughout our stay. Unfortunately we tried hard to like this property but at the end of 4 nights we were delighted to be leaving.

I feel like we didn't spend enough time here to really get a good feel for the place....but what we did experience, we liked a lot. We arrived late in the afternoon and were greeted by the receptionist who explained the features of the hotel while we sipped on a glass of prosecco in the outdoors area. My husband and I then spent a couple of hours sitting by the pool (small yet lovely) sipping on some drinks from the bar. The service was pretty slow to be honest - we kept having to chase the barman down around the hotel, but it was a lazy afternoon so that was okay. The hotel is classic yet modern and super clean. I literally slept for 12 hours straight in what I think is the comfiest bed I've ever experienced. Unfortunately, we didn't get to experience the restaurant as we were exhausted when we arrived at the hotel and couldn't keep our eyes open until 8pm when the restaurant opens. We did order two serves of the clam linguine to the room though and it was exceptionally good. I'd love to come back and stay for longer here...maybe next year!

Nice hotel ... room quite ok but old fashioned, quiet environment out of the season. A little out of the center, but you can take a free bike to have a look around. Restaurant has specific atmosphere, try it once, it's nice.
