Massive rooms in heart of the city

LOVED this hotel so much. The rooms were MASSIVE. So much room to spread out. They are 'old' feeling but in an antique chic way, not a dated stale way. Amazing restaurants on site. We had breakfast in bed twice (and it was less expensive than the buffet pricing they offered. I do not recommend adding breakfast to your room, even though they offer a pre-pay discount). There is a concierge who helped us with reservations and exchaged cash for us with no fee. This was amazing, because using an ATM in the city had a crazy fee on it. We also didn't really need euros...except for one restaurant we went to. There was a nice (but small) gym, they stored our luggage when we arrived early, and gave us check in a few hours early (though not much). The service and staff were exceptional. There is also a lobby bar that is extremely cozy and chic. The elevator was a bit small and slow. This hotel is about to close for a 2 year renovation. Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's complete!

Tired hotel awaiting a much needed refresh. Doorman was lovely and welcoming. Concierge did not return many emails prior to trip, however, they did OK when I met them in person. Breakfast however, was busy and chaotic. The lady who sat us for breakfast on the first day in the sunroom did not point us to where the breakfast buffet was. We waited for 20 minutes and no waiter showed up, so I had to go find a manager. Similar chaotic experience every morning during our day. Hopefully the renovation will uplift the spirit of the staff and this beautiful property will be warm and welcoming. Location is great overlooking the opera, and even though it was cold, we enjoyed tea on our balcony with the opera view.

Exceptional hotel that brings you back to another era in time. The bar is small but full of character with dark woods and comfy chairs. It was nice that they gave us a nut mix, olives and popcorn with our drinks. The dining room is elegant with its vaulted ceilings and the service is impeccable for breakfast. The room we had was larger than an ordinary room. It had a separate room for the toilet and another room for the sink, makeup table and tub. My one complaint is the shower. When it is turned on, there is no way possible to stop the water from running out onto the floor. Then there is a separate sitting area and desk with a mini balcony overlooking the Opera House. We were told that the hotel will close in 2025 for a 2 year renovation. I hope they maintain some of its charm while updating the plumbing and electrical work. Nice touches include a nightly turndown with chocolates and a note about Vienna’s history. They provide a bowl of apples at every floor by the elevator. Service was excellent for all departments. I’d come back to this hotel as it is centrally located in the inner city ring. Great trip.

The staff were delightful and welcoming. It is one of those hotels that feel like it is more of a castle, and you are on a royal visit. The room was comfortable and very spacious with lots of storage place. The shower had a high level of products and was overall very luxurious. The breakfast hall is just stunning, in my mind it was an old hunting cabin for lords. To top it all, we ordered some room services (steak and schnitzel) and of course it was great. Location is obviously very good, just a step from the central street, and right on top of a metro and bus station.

Wonderful hotel in a fantastic location. Our room was huge! And the breakfast and bar very good indeed All great but what was exceptional was the staff. To a man, they were friendly and professional and couldn’t do enough to help you. We had a brilliant time.

Although I’ve just heard that the hotel is about to close at the end of the year for renovations, I think I’d still like to review it for our recent stay anyway. The staff here are very nice and that’s what actually saves the hotel on many levels. But, the morning we arrived we didn’t get any assistance with our luggage and the bellboy was nowhere to be seen. The room ( and I stress, is about to be renovated) , was plainly awful! The wallpaper was old and stained and the bathroom the worst I’ve encountered in a supposedly luxury hotel, the hot water took about 10 minutes to come through and it was tricky getting into the skinny bath with the overhead shower which was very ineffective. The bedlinen was tired with thin sheets that have seen better days. The room itself was really weird with strange little closets along the long entrance into the room. Unfortunately we arrived during very hot weather and the aircon was extremely inefficient, uncomfortable in fact. The saving factors were breakfast which was plentiful with fresh eggs cooked to your liking and everything you could want. We ate dinner in the restaurant on our last night and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the knowledgeable and friendly staff , especially the young wine waiter and the maitre de. We wish the hotel all the best with the impending renovations which are way overdue!

We had a fine stay at Hotel Bristol in Vienna, primarily due to its exceptional location. Centrally situated, the hotel is within easy reach of all major attractions and offers convenient access to public transportation. However, I was disappointed with the hotel's decor, which felt outdated and mismatched. Our room featured unappealing green carpet and wallpaper, reminiscent of a historic Hofsburg apartment. Given the hotel's premium pricing, I expected more modern amenities while still maintaining its historic charm. Breakfast was satisfactory but overpriced at €45 per person. While I might not choose to stay at Bristol again, I'll give it a 5-star rating for its prime location.

We stayed here for 4 nights. What an absolute treat the entire experience was. As I said in the title, heavenly. A perfect stay and we look forward to going back. Besides the beauty of the hotel, the staff were all committed to THE highest level of customer service, from the front desk to housekeeping…every detail had been thought out. The location is perfectly situated for transit, shopping, restaurants, etc. The breakfast is reason alone to stay at the hotel. A beautiful variety of anything you could want. We particularly enjoy a nice restaurant and bar at a hotel. It’s nice to have a glass of wine or drink before or after dinner on premise. The cozy and chic bar was exquisite. The restaurant is quite good. Besides breakfast, we had lunch a couple times. Delicious. My sincere thanks and compliments to every staff member we had opportunity to interact with. So very very well done!

The hotel let us down a bit. We booked a Classic Room, and were really disappointed. Our interior room was tiny, over crammed with knicked up furniture, and not exactly high tech. The floor creaked and groaned, making it impossible to get to the bathroom at night without disturbing your partner. The TV had very few English channels, and wasn’t set up to stream. It was set beside the bed but they could have easily mounted it on the wall opposite. The bathroom was spacious but fitted with a plastic tub. Room size and amenities were u suitable for our nine night stay. We used booking.com but will never use them again. We’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars several times over, yet receive next to no perks. They can’t even throw in a free breakfast after giving them a fortune over 50+ room nights. This is no fault of the hotel but we expected to be bumped up a category. It would have made a huge difference as outside facing rooms looked much more spacious and in better repair. Classic rooms are long overdue for renovation. The breakfast was also disappointing- after all, croissants etc. originated in Vienna (hence the name viennoiserie), but they weren’t buttery and crisp, just bready. The lounge is lovely, but the setup looks more appealing than it tastes. Why the very good rating? Staff and location are top notch, and both really saved our stay. We enjoyed our room service breakfasts, brought by very kind staff who all went the extra mile. Housekeepers and the minibar crew were absolutely wonderful. However, the Bristol has been on my bucket list for 50 years, and I was expecting much more. We won’t be back.
