Charming style doesn’t mask the wear and tear

A mix of modern furniture, classic charm, and quirky details, but the reality doesn’t live up to the photos online. The property shows significant wear and tear. The air conditioning unit, attached to the window, was performing so bad that we couldn’t get the room to a comfortable temperature and had to open the window, exposing us to traffic noise. The bathroom was old and outdated; the shower was dirty, and the showerhead was clogged, making it difficult to use. The building’s age also makes it quite noisy, and guests should be aware that there are many stairs to navigate. Unfortunately, the charm of the decor isn’t enough to compensate for these drawbacks.
Considering these issues, the hotel is very expensive for what it offers, which makes the experience feel even more disappointing.

A charming hotel situated in an ideal location. It has a gorgeous view of the lake and is in close proximity to the bus stop. The hotel rooms are clean, spacious, and equipped with an attached balcony. We were lucky to get one that overlooks the lake. Even though it sits on the main road, there isn't any disturbance permeating into the room. Though there is complimentary breakfast, there is no proper restaurant. However, you can always use ubereats to get food delivered. The staff is very cordial, friendly, and polite. We had a good time staying there.

Unique bedrooms very comfortable, salon style building. Great location easy walk into Luzern town. The staff were kind and helpful and had an answer for all my questions and queries. Highly recommended. Breakfast is continental style. The overall feeling is you are living in a period house, lovely.

Nice boutique hotel across the street from the lake. Lake-view rooms were an adequate size, clean and comfortable. It was worth paying-up for the view. Hotel is older and the floors squeaked and creaked, but we were on the top floor so didn't have to listen to people walking above us. Service was adequate and friendly. Breakfast was good and pretty standard. The location of this hotel is the best part. About a ten minute walk along the lake to the main tourist area or a five minute free bus ride to/from the bahnhof from right outside the hotel.
My only complaint is that smoking is allowed on the balcony. I paid extra for the balcony and want to be able to use it or even just open the window without smelling smoke.

This hotel was so awful we willingly sacrificed 3 nights paid and moved out the day after checking in.
We struggled up the stairs with our luggage for a 3 week trip through a few cities/towns in Switzerland while staff merely watched us.
The room I had requested was a two room suite. What we got was two rooms with just beds. Like a hostel. They could have refunded us but stuck to the policy of cancellations..... We moved down the street to the Schweizerhof and tried to forget the nightmare of this dump of a hotel.
We even cancelled our reservations at their sister property in Zurich for fear it was a similar situation of crummy rooms poorly described and inaccurately photographed.

I expected unforgettable stay in one of the best hotels in Lucerne and I'd say I got a meh experience.
Pluses: the staff is terrific, the location across the street from the lake is great. You're given a Lucerne card for duration of your stay, so you can move freely around the city using public transportation.
Meh factor: the hotel is trying really hard to come across as chic and artsy and I'd say it's a bit over the top. What really put me off is the combined shower/toilet box just placed in your room offering little privacy. The portable a/c was not sufficient to deal with hot weather we had during our stay.
We stayed in one of downtown hotels in Lucerne immediately after and I should stay you appreciate the level of comfort in the more modern building.

This is a very nice hotel in a beautiful refurbished historic building across the street from the Lake. The location is a highlight: right across the street there is a beautiful park, the lake front promenade, steps for going for a swim. Gorgeous mountain views across the lake. The hotel is good too. Welcoming staff, excellent breakfast in a pleasant dining room. Because the building is historic, there are quirks which might present problems for some. (For example, our room ha a step between the main room and the bathroom; a problem for us, especially at night.) Overall, a very good hotel in a great location.

What a cute little boutique hotel in a great location to explore Lucerne! We had originally booked a sister property but it was under renovation so we were offered rooms here instead. Once we saw the property, I was no longer disappointed about the change. The staff is awesome--very accommodating and friendly. The rooms are mid-size with bathrooms ensuite. It's an older property with a lot of character. We did purchase the breakfast buffet the next morning after our one-night stay and it was well worth the money. The restaurant and outside area are great for drinks and relaxing after a long day. The location is very good and you can walk to Old Town and all the major sites in the area within 20 minutes. The great staff and service make it a great stay!
