After a long day and late night arrival we appreciated the pleasant welcoming reception by the hotel staff. They have a complimentary welcome drink of water and champagne. The location is ideal for walking around to museums, restaurants and public transit. As a Marriott “Autograph” hotel, the historic architecture makes this place charming with interesting spaces. Given our titanium elite status we had hoped for a room with a view. Instead we got a courtesy bottle of champagne. Our room was clean with a well stocked mini-bar, and Nespresso coffee maker. There was a large bathtub that seemed to be an awkward addition as it made for a tight fit accessing the toilet room doors. The rain head shower was terrific as were the quality of shampoo and toiletries. The breakfast buffet is a bit pricey with all the usual dishes and accoutrements. Breads, cheeses, meats, fruit and cereals fill the buffet bar with egg dishes ready to order. While it was available onsite we didn’t partake in the spa. They offered various massages and facial treatments. This is the place to come if you want to be centrally located and in walking distance of the tourist attractions.

Everything about Hospes Puerta de Alcala is first class. The entire front desk staff is happy and helpful (Raquel, Juan, Fernando, Miquel, I hope I Didn't miss anyone!). Our room was beautiful and comfortable. A bottle of Cava was waiting for us in our room, and then a bottle of complimentary wine the next day! Room service (Guillermo) was quick and courteous. Breakfast was expansive and all you could ask for. The pool was a bit hidden but a delightful experience. Good location. Excellent hotel stay!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Hospes Puerta de Alcalá during out stay in Madrid. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming! They took note of my note of our specific preferences and ensured they were accommodated during our stay. They also helped with dinner reservations in the weeks leading up to the trip. The hotel room was beautiful. We walked to many of the city's attractions directly from the hotel and also loved its proximity to Parque de El Retiro.

Wonderful hotel in the center of town. From start to finish the front desk staff was amazing! Welcoming every time we came in and no request was too big or small. I can’t say enough about how good every staff member was behind the front desk. Housekeeping was also perfect. Twice a day they made up the rooms and were always accommodating with requests for extra towels or water. The only part I was disappointed in was the spa. After weeks of travel I was looking forward to my first massage. I booked a day and a time that was wide open for appointments yet they started late, not a big deal but I had booked an 80 minute massage yet only received 50 minutes. They were apologetic but it did not meet expectations from start to early finish.

Lovely autumn break in Madrid
Hotel is in a great location for getting to the sights and restaurants on foot. In particular very near the major art galleries. We had a room at the back which was very quiet. Manuel and Juan on reception gave great recommendations for places to eat
Exceptional stay we had a Dreamers room and stayed 5 nights. Housekeeping checked on us twice a day and turned down the beds. The room was immaculate and so was the rest of the hotel. I couldn’t get over how clean the stairs were. The staff were excellent and friendly....

Excellent choice for this area of Madrid

A very comfortable, well-equipped, and completely quiet room (with a complimentary bottle of wine on checking in), helpful and informed reception staff, and ideal location for this part of the city (the Prado and other major museums, including the wonderful Archaeology Museum, and El Retiro Park a short walk away) made our 4-day stay here a very pleasant one. For a hotel at this price-point the public areas seemed a little bleak / institutional (both upper corridors and lift were oddly cramped), but this was presumably a function of the adaptation of an older building: if I had a suggestion to make at all it would be to brighten up these areas, though I’m not sure how this could be done because they are not at all run down, just not atmospherically particularly welcoming. It may even be that something as easy to implement as a lower reception desk so that staff don’t seem to be looking down on guests might help. But this is a minor design question rather than a substantive comfort / service one and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again on a visit to this area of Madrid. The restaurant was good.

In all my years of travel this has to be one of my favorite hotels and I would definitely stay here again. It’s centrally located but not directly on the busy Gran Via. We walked everywhere. Breakfast was included which includes buffet items as well as menu items and was delicious. The restaurant was very good as well. We received the most amazing massages at the spa and were able to reserve the entire spa for just our use. I read several comments about noise and want to say this was not an issue at all. We were in Room 404 which was an amazing room! I want to mention a few people at the hotel that made our experience memorable. First, we arrived very early and Jose ensured our room was made a priority so that we could check in early. Next, Anna, who worked in the restaurant, was just an amazing server. She was professional at all times and yet so kind. She always remembered our drinks and made very good recommendations off the menu. Lastly, Pande was our room Stewart/keeper and I would like to say that this was the cleanest room I’ve ever stayed in. I’m not exaggerating! The floors, carpets. Bathroom fixtures. Everything was spotless. Turn down service was always a treat as well, candies, chocolate, house slippers - very thoughtful. We also received wine and water. In addition there are may outlets and places to store your items. Thank you, Hospes Puerta Alcalá for making this such a memorable vacation

Our suite was a large room with sitting area and a desk. Spacious shower and 2 sinks for wash-up. Comfy bed. The breakfast room was convenient. Service was fine. The front desk staff was most helpful with suggestions and answers to questions. Good location for access to restaurants and important sights.
