The constant helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff working in the hotel. Good situation in Cordoba a lovely 10 minute stroll to the Mosque and touristy areas. The lay out of the hotel is excellent with the large exotic garden at the centre. All food was excellent! Breakfast is huge and constantly being replenished. Beds and rooms were super comfortable. Cannot recommend enough and will definitely stay here again Could not recommend enough.

we have stayed at hospes palacio del bailio a dozen or more times during 13 years of traveling to cordoba, and we always look forward to our next stay- this historical site and its surrounding buildings are at the heart and soul of ancient cordoba culture. there are visible roman ruins upon which the palace was later built. the restoration of the palace to hotel is brilliant and gives the experience of staying here an abiding sense of place and time. in addition, there is the welcoming and multi-lingual staff, the elegant and comfortable rooms, the excellent chef and menus, the bodyna spa with roman baths and the list goes on. the hotel takes whatever time and attention is needed to provide the guests--be they travelers, tourists, or locals-- with an ambiance both warm and friendly. highly recommend !!

A beautiful hotel in a quiet street in Cordoba. The room was fantastic, very comfortable and clean. We only stayed one night and a wedding party was using the pool/garden area for that night, and tables in the veranda was set for their lunch so we could not experience the full beauty of their public spaces. Check in and out was a little hectic, and seemed a bit disorganized, but we'd stay here again if ever in Cordoba.

Beautiful hotel and a beautiful spa, authentic roman ruins, a beautifully decorated lounge and beautiful rooms. Service was definitely 5 stars. Breakfast and food in general was delicious. Please note this Hotel has a centralised heating/cooling system so you might struggle like us to have a good night sleep as you are unable to control the temperature. Our room was so hot! The other problem we had is that our room was next to a busy street and the noise was a real pain … If it was not for the noise and temperature, I would’ve rated this hotel 5 out of 5 but in this instance I cannot give it more than 3 out of five

This hotel is beautiful! I could live here! Our deluxe room was incredible. Bedroom, huge bathroom with 2 sinks, dressing area and living room. Very clean. Beds are very comfortable. Hotel also smells amazing - very light and fresh smell. I was in the elevator with a couple and the woman asked what my perfume was - she loved the smell - lol - it wasn't me- it was the hotel fragrance. Breakfast is very good. Fresh squeezed orange juice every morning. Alejandro made our stay extra special with incredible service. Great location to walk through town. Highly recommend!

We really liked this hotel - good location for the Mosque/Cathedral and commercial centre and less than 5 minutes walk to the Cordoba Hop on Hop Off bus and the Tuk Tuk tour. The hotel contacted us in advance to check what time we would be arriving and they valet parked the car for us. We were welcomed with a glass of Cava and suitcases were quickly taken to our room. The bedroom was small but comfortable and well equipped with a lovely bathroom. The hotel has a small pool and beautiful gardens. I would recommend the hotel restaurant but I would book in advance - despite staying in the hotel we weren't able to get a table in the restaurant. Our room overlooked the restaurant and it could be quite noisy at 10pm. But for the latter two points the hotel would have earned 5 stars. If we were staying in Cordoba again we would definitely stay here.

Junior suite 125 up a flight of stairs was lovely with an entrance hall that served as a spacious dressing room with plenty of space for luggage. When we arrived for our 915 dinner reservation in the courtyard every table was already full, whereas arriving at that hour anywhere else in Spain we were early. Yes, it was a wrinkle room full of old Americans and Brits, confirmed at breakfast the next days. Maybe this is why the staff never seemed particularly friendly, also unlike everywhere else we went in Spain. The garden is a serene spot for a cocktail, but its beautiful pool was too cold for anyone to swim despite the mid 80s air temperatures. The Roman Baths were a disappointment, the warm pool was almost as cold as the cold pool, leaving only the tiny hot pool to warm up. It is barely big enough for two and certainly not for the six allowed at each reservation (no mention we would not have the baths to ourselves for that hour as is usual in hotels that offer reserved pool times). A hotel this expensive should do better.

We stayed 2 nights instead of the 3 booked nights in this hotel. On arrival we learned there was a technical issue with our room, but the staff immediately proposed some alternatives, and booked our chosen solution. They accompanied us to that hotel and made sure we were ok. We received compensation for that problem, so everything is ok. The room (dreamer) was a bit boring compared to the hotel itself, which is very very beautiful. Breakfast was good! The food in restaurant itself was a bit bland, we had diner. But I have to admit, having breakfast/diner on ancient Roman ruins... It gives a bit of a kick. The pool area is excellent. It's an oasis of calm in a busy city, with lots of room.

We arrived around 6.45pm in a group of 40 on a tour. Check-in started by making us each fill in forms, then we found we had each to go to reception to get a room number – it swiftly turned into utter chaos. At 7.20pm we were shown into a ground floor room looking out across a courtyard and our luggage was delivered at 7.30. A few minutes later, noisy activity started outside in the courtyard. A waiter service station and full bar was being set up for the evening in front of our window, the staff could gawk right in. This turned out to be their vaunted Arbequina restaurant, opening from 8pm - 11pm! The room was ill-equipped as well, with just 2 low armchairs: no table, nor even a desk top to put anything on. We asked to be moved; they said there was only one other room available. En route we met another couple having the same experience – we had a nasty feeling that we were being swapped with them, especially when we found we were now given (presumably) the second-worst room in the hotel. Second floor this time, 2 low chairs plus a small desk, no table. The shower was in a deep, high-sided, slippery bath; I’m 165 cm tall, and anyone shorter would have real difficulty in getting out! This room was right next to the service room from which all the chambermaids on that floor operated, smoked, yelled, and stored their trolleys, etc.… The windows opened on to a narrow alley with constant, noisy traffic. In the morning this made for stereophonic sound! Still 28C outside, and freezing cold inside, due to aircon that couldn’t be turned off. No choice, so we just shut up and put up! Breakfast was mostly a la carte, sitting in a glass-floored room over the remains of a Roman villa – worth seeing, but quite a big drop down to the ruins. I suffer from vertigo and found this very unnerving, so skipped breakfast on the second morning. The next evening, another farce. We only wanted a light meal and were told that as well as the Albequina restaurant (expensive, full a la carte menu) there was a bar, they even had a separate, lighter bar menu advertised on the wall outside the hotel. They said bookings for both were necessary, so we asked reception to reserve a table in the bar. They said the earliest booking we could have was at 8.45pm! Tired after a day’s touring, when the temperature had maxed at 32C, and very few eateries without quite a trek, so we accepted. When we turned up at 8.45, we found that there was indeed a bar, but it was outdoors by the swimming pool and opened from 2pm until 8pm! The Albequina restaurant couldn’t find our booking either, and offered us a table right by the entrance door, so badly lit that we couldn’t read the menu – and of course, the bar menu wasn’t available. We went back to our room in disgust, and ordered a couple of light options from room service. A tray was eventually brought up, dumped on the desk and at 9.30pm we finally ate as best we could in the space available. Can’t recommend the food, either – lukewarm, dry and oily. The hotel is in a beautiful and ornate old palace, with a lovely garden and swimming pool. Staff mostly seem friendly and obliging, so were we just unlucky to get such shabby treatment or was this the norm? Others in our group seemed to get better rooms, perhaps we were just at the back of the queue that checked in late in the day? (Benefit of the doubt) We’ll never know because we’ll never go back!

This beautiful hotel certainly delivered and more. Our room was a delight (19 - Junior Suite) and so very quiet, the bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was wonderful featuring a delightful freestanding bath. The staff at the hotel were very professional, charming and courteous nothing was too much trouble at all. The Roman baths were fun and added a nice bit of downtime after a busy day. We both had treatments at the Spa which were without doubt the best we’ve experienced. HALF BOARD: this unfortunately was the only thing that was a disappointment, if only we’d known that we were to be given a vastly reduced menu which was the same for the two nights we were there we definitely would not have chosen this option. The food and choice was not to our liking and we ended up a little hungry on both nights.

Nice location, quiet street close to the main plaza in cordoba; 15 minute walk to the mosque complex. Kind staff who were quite helpful. Breakfast offering was okay but their lunch was excellent. Stayed in a ground level room. Bedroom is a little small (expected and as advertised to be fair) but bathroom is spacious with good shower. Clean rooms, bed could be more comfortable (firmer mattress). Certainly does the job for a 1-2 night stay in this magical city. Would consider coming again for sure.

We chose half board option based on the menu published on the hotels website - upon arrival we were given a small reduced menu 3 choices for each course to cover two nights - my husband is gluten feee and no allergens were marked up - yoghurt only choice for dessert for him - not the Michelin Guide quality we had booked for (fruit salad offered as a substitution on second night again a basic dessert). We would not have booked half board if we were going to have a restricted reduced menu and would rather had paid separately and had the choice of the full menu to choose from- felt penalised for booking half board and made to feel guilty for having a food intolerance which wasn’t catered properly for (the hotel were advised this at time of booking). The hotels main menu had plenty of food choices for gluten free meals clearly marked and was one of the main reasons we booked the Hospes Hotel - very disappointing and would not recommend half board option although breakfast was fine.

We have just returned from a magical road trip of Spain. This was our first stay at a Hospes Hotel and we were extremely impressed by the levels of hospitality and attention to detail. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Juanjo, offered a glass of cava and taken on a tour of this stunning property. The Roman ruins discovered beneath the hotel and the spa /hammam are both worth a visit. The hotel is in a great location with all the major sights within walking distance. We arrived by car and the hotel parked it for us - everywhere we went thereafter was on foot. It was so lovely to be able to come back each afternoon and take a refreshing dip in the pool situated in tranquil lush gardens. Our room was huge, well equipped and very peaceful, we both slept extremely well, maybe due to the 20,000 steps each day! We dined in the hotel as part of our anniversary celebration, the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Great to try local specialities such as salmorejo and oxtail. We will certainly be back if we visit Cordoba again and would highly recommend the hotel.
