We just got back from one week at the Hard Rock Hotel. This is a fantastic hotel overall and we would definitely return. It compares well to A few Dreams we have stayed at in terms of calibre/quality. The food is excellent. there’s something for everyone and it’s among the best food we’ve had out of many all inclusives over the years. Our favourite was Ciao for dinner (Italian) and we also enjoyed Frida (great outdoor location) and Zen. The service is also fantastic all around.
this is a well managed resort and all employees seem to genuinely care about the guest experience. Diana in reception helped me organize a room upgrade and airport transportation via email before we arrived. She was professional, prompt and helpful. We ate breakfast at Ciao (beautiful open air restaurant beside the ocean) each morning. Juan, Antonio, Viktor and Alvarez provided excellent and attentive service day in and day out. I had morning lattes at Caffeto from Mayber daily and she quickly became one of my favourite employees.
The beach is beautiful; I was pleasantly surprised by the number of palapa and loungers. On this stretch of beach in Nuevo Vallarta the Hard Rock has one of the best beach setups. Long walkable beach; beach volleyball every day. Beach service was prompt. Great spot for lunch beside the beach pool (both healthy and snacks options - again, something for everyone).
The beach and pool area including bathrooms were incredibly clean. The cleanest beach bathrooms I’ve ever experienced; and we’ve stayed at some 5 stars…the rooms were dated only in terms of decor, and the balconies were not large enough to sit out and eat. But we had a beautiful view and the housekeeping was done well every day. 24 hour room service was also great.
Entertainment staff: our favourites were Georgina, Reed and Kevin! They were kind and always trying to include people in activities. There was a show at the outdoor amphitheater nightly and live music if you wanted it in the Lounge later in the evening. Georgina, so beautiful, so friendly, what a light in this world!
The only cons: although no reservations are required for dinner there was sometimes quite a bit of a wait to get in. Over an hour for Zen one night. We just got a drink on the outdoor terrace while we waited, no big deal. The chair game at this resort is more intense than ANY hotel I have ever experienced in 20 years! Luckily we are not pool people as I would have had a hard time getting a spot even though I was down at 720 every morning. They reserve many spots for their members of loyalty program if that’s of interest to you. We also found the sales staff of their loyalty program to be almost aggressive and intrusive. One of them could not take a polite no for an answer and was literally chasing us out of the lobby on our way to an excursion and calling our room constantly despite us repeatedly declining what she was trying to sell. I won’t name her as she is obviously just doing what she is asked but I hope management reads this and knows that some guests would appreciate being left alone after one or two polite no’s and not constantly bothered and put in an awkward position while trying to relax and enjoy vacation. If they try to “give you more information on the resort” at another desk immediately after you check in, just know this is their attempt to get you to buy into their membership. Some people have done it and love it obviously! Just not for us.
One more small thing: if older rock and roll is not your thing you may want to hang out at the beach and bring your own speaker as we did. The pool music catered to the older pool crowd; we are late 30s and it was not quite our vibe. It might be yours!
Overall, go here if you get the price that works for you, it will be worth it and you will be well taken care of!

There is no shortage of delicious food for vegans, vegetarians as well as those with diet or allergy restrictions. They have lots of choices for those seafood lovers and carnivores too! Breakfast and lunch in the Market buffet provide so many choices that it is hard to not overindulge.
The staff in the entire hotel are very pleasant, engaging and accommodating. No request seemed to be too much. They are always smiling.
A few of the staff that really made our stay even more special were, Victor in Ipanema, Edgar in the Market, and Sonia the chef who made the most delicious fish I had in some time. Also Cortez, a server in the Market who was always right there to help and Juan at poolside. Juan was always ready to help with any request at poolside.
Our room was always spotless. Housekeeping were fast and efficient. Extra towels were never a problem. Being an all inclusive, they restocked our room bar daily with bottled water, snacks and pop and beer are also in the fridge and room service is 24 hours.
The hotel and grounds are well maintained. They are constantly cleaning and refreshing rooms as needed.
