We have been to the princess multiple times. Each time, it is truly a great experience. We look forward to the remodel this year and will be excited to return again. This place would not be as great as it is without the people that work there. I would like to mention the following names. Alexis Orozco was at the Maya pool bar this visit. A genuine smile from him always sweetens vacation. Raziel, Absolon, Idelfonso at chill out breakfast are amazing. When we would roll in for breakfast they would already know what we wanted. Red carpet service! Pablo the waiter at miso thai and manager Christopher made dinners great! At the Laguna pool , we were again given great service by Javier Almeda, Brenda, Humberto and Raquel . Margarita and Maria (what a duo!) were awesome to see at the Platinum sunset bar. It was nice to see Neysi Diaz and Raquel at the sports bar. We also stopped to say hello to our friend Alex Martinez at the Platinum Riviera bar. Please make sure to recognize their efforts. They truly make our stay wonderful and relaxing just the way a vacation should be. And a big shout out to Auric, who really helped us during our stay. The restaurants were great as usual. Can't say too much about the buffets because we did not use them. The food in the sports bar was great again. The milkshake at the family club was also delicious! We are really looking forward to staying this November! I've attached a few pictures and hopefully we'll have pictures with more.of the names I have mentioned above for our next visit.

What an amazing stay at the Grand Sunset Princess! The staff are super friendly and accommodating and really want to help you out. The rooms are super clean and with the upcoming renovations, the rooms will be even more up to date. Food is of great quality and quantity, lots to choose from and you’ll never get bored with the endless options. Also, as someone who has a pretty severe food allergy, the staff made sure I was taken care of and took the time to show me what was safe or not for me at the buffet and a la carte restaurants. A special shout out to Cintia Yamili at the breakfast buffet! She always had our morning mimosas ready for us when we’d arrive for breakfast and always served us with a smile! Also special shoutout to Javier at the beach bar who was super friendly and took the time to remember everyone’s names! The grounds are also super gorgeous and there’s always something to see and to do. Amazing evening shows and activities throughout the day make the days fly by so fast! If you’re looking for Cuba type beaches, you won’t particularly get them here. The beaches are pretty but very rocky and there can be lots of seaweed at times. If you can get past the rocks and seaweed, the pecan is mostly just sand depending on which side you go in. All in all, would 100% recommend this place if you’re looking for a fun time and amazing service!

Although we’ve seen nicer beaches and had fancier food, this resort turned out to be one of our favourites of the many we have experienced. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the many pools are also very nice. We enjoy walking, so the size of the grounds was a bonus. With a little effort, you can also enjoy some nice beach walks. Yes, the main pools and pool bars as well as the beach can get busy, but because of the size of the resort, you can always find a quiet spot in a pool, a lounge chair or at a bar with almost no lineup. The lobby area and plaza where most of the restaurants are located was also clean and spacious and there was decent entertainment every night. Our room was quite nice with a good sized terrace. It was cleaned every morning and the fridge was restocked daily. The buffets were adequate for breakfast and lunch, although some of the dishes could have been hotter. The only disappointment we had was with the one dinner buffet we went to. The rest of the vacation we booked restaurant reservations and were very pleased with the food and service.

This hotel is huuuge. The grounds are beautiful and it is on a gorgeous beach. You see plenty on cute wildlife wandering around. There are a few restaurants you can book into and buffet offerings. The rooms are large and clean if abit dated. However, as this hotel is so big you feel abit like cattle, the sun loungers are packed tightly together and you have to queue for drinks and at the buffets, as well as it being hard to book in the restaurants. Which left me feeling that this must be what it feels like on a cruise ship. The food in the buffet was ok, with a good choice. Although we booked into the Mexican restaurant one night but the food was terrible so we cancelled the reservations we had in the other restaurants and just ate in the buffet. As if the food was terrible in a Mexican restaurant in Mexico, we didn’t trust the other ones. If we were to stay here again I would go for the platinum package as you get much more spacious loungers on the beach and your own pool area (no queueing for drinks).

Francisco de Asis’ service was the best :)
Francisco de Asis’ service at the breakfast buffets was the absolute best. He is so kind!! He remembered my husband and I from the first day and even our coffee orders. He served us everyday and was always so helpful. His service was amazing and kindness made our trip :)
Day trips at Grand Sunset Princess

Highly overpriced and money isn't refunded if you are unable to participate (even due to illness which costs $200 US for a doctors note from the resort) in previously paid for events. Arrangements for day trips are quite vague as regards to time and length of activity. I provided proof of illness to this company upon returning home and nothing was done with regard to a good-will gesture after spending over $700 US with them.

We have been to Princess multiple times. The main reason we keep returning is because of Ivan (bartender usually found in one of the lobby bars at Sunset or Riviera). He treats us as family, and teaches us about Mexican culture. What a great employee/icon for the Princess brand !!! It’s wonderful returning to the resort and having Ivan greet you with a huge smile, asking about your day. This time we brought two additional couples with us and they were just as pleased with Ivan as we are. Our favourite restaurants were the steak, Mexican, Italian and hibachi !! Our rooms were cleaned perfectly every day !!! Impressed with our room attendants. We love the walk from end to end, but there is a tram if you want to use it. Looking forward to coming back next year !

This resort was perfect for our lazy vacation. So many great pools, great a la carte restaurants and tons of outdoor gathering spaces. Our room was decent - basic and clean; good size. It was also really quiet at night, which was very nice. The drink options were good. We upgraded to Platinum bracelets which gave us a few more drink options; but I’m not sure the upgrade was worthwhile. The beach is beautiful with lots of beach chairs. It can get quite windy, but it is beautiful.

Just returned after one week. I will post the bad things gist so you have what you need. And then the good Bad. First of all, this is more like a four star resort only because of a few things it’ll mention it’s a bit outdated, but it’s not horrible. At least it’s very very clean. This is a very large large resort with lots of pools and it’s a long walk to the beach from the rooms so here we go. Long walk from food to beach. Never saw the shuttle at all Only one garbage can in the room. Need one in bathroom and in the main area Need a bigger shelf in the shower no room to put soap and shampoos Room is dark especially when you can’t leave blinds open as it heats up the room Make sure you leave a key in the light at night or phone won’t charge as that gives the power to the outlets Food: the buffet wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great for that of what should be a five star. There was a lot of food there that was not edible in my opinion as well as there was a lot of empty food and we had to wait 10-15minutes sometimes just to get things replaced. I felt like there was a food shortage there. I don’t know what it was. I just didn’t find there was a great selection of food in the buffet and they just seem to be a lot of empty bowls. Also the à la carts I’m going to rank them we only went to five of them and here’s our thoughts on the five that we went to Italian: this was her number one choice because we really liked the lasagna. It reminded us of the lasagna actually that we had in Florence Italy, the food there was the best of all of the ones that we went to. Steak house; my husband had the T-bone steak and I had the ribs and both of them were very well cooked and well done to the point that they were very tender so this was also a very good choice the baked potatoes very small though and when you ask for cheese to put on your baked potato, they bring you the process melted cheese Japanese: The Japanese was really good. The show was really good. The only complaint I had about this was that the steak and the chicken in my opinion were so overcooked that they were chewy like rubber now I’m not sure if they did that because there were two little kids sitting at our table and they wanted to make sure it was well cooked but otherwise everything was good. The sushi was fantastic. The rice was delicious. The vegetables were good. I just didn’t like the meat. I just found that it was way overcooked. Le fleur: this one was a disappointment. I wanted to have the chicken and they didn’t have it so they give me the Cordon Bleu and I’m not a big Cordon Bleu person. I had the duck pate. It was good that was about all it wasn’t one of our favourite restaurants we were just a little bit disappointed. My husband had the beef there, and he said it was ok Thai: this was the most disappointing restaurant I love Thai. I did not like the Thai at this restaurant at all I had the dumpling they didn’t have any spring rolls and then I had the tuna it was horrible and then I had the pad Thai and I just really didn’t like it. I was not impressed with this and very disappointed since Thai is my favourite food actually so I wouldn’t recommend this one. We didn’t get the Mexican. I heard it was good. We didn’t get into the fondue one. Somebody said that it’s not running all the time so those are my reviews on those restaurants. The beach: the beach is actually pretty good. The only complaint we had is the last couple of days we were there. They didn’t seem to be cleaning up the seaweed so it started to stink and there was quite a bit of it that had come up on shore, but the first few days that were there. It was so clear that we were so impressed cause we have been in Mexico last year at a different resort and it was very bad and the beach at that resort wasn’t the greatest. This is actually a pretty good beach. they have a lot of seats and a lot of coverage which I really liked just the fact that the last few days the seaweed was accumulating better than not the beach is lovely. Animals: if you don’t like animals on your resort, don’t go to this resort I loved it actually I felt like I was at the zoo. It was kind of cool watching all the different animals. We saw the Coti we saw deer, we saw iguanas, saw lots of different birds. We saw a raccoon. We had fun watching and looking for all the different animals. We did have a lot of people who complained and said they didn’t like it. You do have to watch the Coti if you bring food down to the pool they will go in your bags and they will take it. Shows:, The shows were fantastic. I was so impressed by the quality of these shows. The dancers were amazing. This is really high caliber. I’ve been on cruise ships and the shows are usually really good here as well, so we were quite pleased with the shows. This is a timeshare resort somebody may ask you if you want to attend a meeting. We actually did because we could get two free spa passes so we did the Hydro pools and we had two massages and yes we had to sit there for 90 minutes to listen to them, but we did not buy into it. But the spa was nice. I’ve been to better spas, but it was nice just to have that as something extra we did go on one of the days when it was cloudy so it was a perfect addition. If you fly with Sunwing, they give you a free shopping trip and it takes you to a jeweller a tequila tasting place and then you get to go to playa Del Carmen. It’s OK. I don’t like Playa Del Carmen. I didn’t feel safe there to be honest and it’s interesting cause when you go there, they will come up to you and say that they know you from the resort and that they’re your waiter and try to get you to come in their store and buy their stuff they’re lying. They’re not your waiter and they don’t know you from the resort they just see your wristbands and that’s how they try to con you. It was funny because somebody said I know you from the plane I was your pilot. That’s how I knew. It was a scam. But if you decide to buy jewelry, the jewellery store actually has the best deals because at Playa Del Carmen the same items were double the price so that’s just a thought. If you do want to buy jewelry, you may want to negotiate at the jewellery store, I did buy a piece of jewellery at the little jewellery store in my resort and got it cheaper so either way Those are the best places to buy any jewelry. Overall this is a beautiful resort. They do keep it nice and clean and what I love best about the resort or all the really neat statues throughout the resort that depict stories of the Mayan I love the fact that there was lots of spaces to get sun coverage whether you’re at the pool or whether you’re at the beach so that was a plus the people are pretty friendly most of them I mean the only complaint I have is the buffet wasn’t great and I’m comparing this to other places that I’ve been so that was a bit disappointing, and the rooms are a little bit outdated, but otherwise it’s not a bad choice for the money

This is our 4th visit to Princess chain in the Riviera Maya. Been twice to the adult only section. This place has a lot to offer whether you’re travelling as a family with kids, couples, groups or solo. You don’t have to reserve a lounge chair at 7am every morning. Do people still do that? This place is massive! A bit of walking if you’re at one end but there’s a shuttle that runs 24 hours. From the lobby to the beach is about a 10 mins walk. My only complaint is the booking of restaurants. You can only reserve 48 hours in advance. Not sure why reservations are needed as the adult section does not require one. Best part of our repeat visits is seeing our favourite bartender, Ivan. He always greets his customers with a smile and always happy to be working day in and day out. He is usually behind one of the lobby bars so please say hi to him when you happen to grab a drink during the day or just before dinner. Ivan is a true ambassador of the Princess brand and the reason we keep coming back.

We had a week at this resort and loved our time there. The resort is very big but we like to walk so that was never an issue for us. The rooms were very clean and although the resort is showing its age, the room was comfortable and the bed was excellent. We enjoyed the evening entertainment each night and the a la cartes were all very good, especially Mama Mia and La Fleur. The buffet was fine, always restocked quickly when things went empty, although if it was busy, it might be different. The resort was only about 50% full which was nice. There is a variety of pools to choose from and lots of activities at one pool and a quiet atmosphere at another. We met a lovely employee at the pool who was so attentive and friendly. Her name is Raquel Padilla and she is so good at her job, and knew our names by the end of our week. She always had a smile and a chat. I hope she is commended foe her good work. We did not spend much time at the beach but it was clean and nice, except for the coatis that insist on being a bit of a nuisance, trying to get into people's bags and getting into the garbage. We enjoyed this resort and would go back.

The resort is dated but apparently the hotel is supposed to be renovated starting in May. Not much of a beach area but there’s plenty of pools to offset that. We stayed in room 1140 and the cleaning crew was top notch. The resort staff were very friendly and helpful. Delfina in the buffet always treated my wife and I with kindness and always went out of her way to make sure our breakfast was a great experience. The ala cartes were very good along with the alcohol beverages .There was quite a variety of wildlife roaming the resort and they never bothered us . In all, our two weeks we spent there were very enjoyable.

We spent a week at this all inclusive resort. Large property, but easy to navigate once you get the lay of the land. Check in was straightforward. It’s been a few years since staying at an AI, they have a concierge for any requests including a La carts, but encourage you to use their QR code to access their online booking for restaurants, see the activities calendar, etc. We got hooked by the hotel rep trying to get you to sign up for an information session (90min), with the promise of $100 credit for an on site specialty restaurant that is not a part of the AI package. Rooms were comfortable, we had a junior suite on the ground level, and felt safe. Food was good. Drinks were satisfying, with offerings of alcohol, no alcohol/0.0%. Pools ..many pools…offering lots of action or quieter pools. We were told that the resort was at 50% occupancy, so lots of lounge chairs, etc. The beach was also good..they only suggestion is to take water shoes as the first few feet into the eater has lots of rocks and very hard on your feet. The resort is very environmentally conscientious..no straws ( not even those terrible paper ones). Some of the blended drinks would have been more enjoyable with a straw…take your reusable ones with you. We booked our package through Sunwing; they use a company called Nextour to be your on site rep, with their main goal of offering excursions for sale. Again it is a digital world..you need the Sunwing App to confirm your transportation to and from the airport/hotel. Overall, we had an enjoyable and relaxing time.

"My husband and I have been to this wonderful resort six times. We love it! From the beautiful decor to the fabulously well-appointed gym to the absolutely incredible staff! The magical walk ways with sculptures and lit pools made the stroll to the plaza so enjoyable every night. The lattes in the morning at the sports bar, so many pools to choose from for swimming, the pickle ball and padel courts to stay in shape, and the unadvertised duo, Empty Spaces, playing rock music Friday nights at 9:30 in the plaza & next day at the pool were only a few of the little delights which made this resort and our vacation so special. The gym is one of the best hotel gyms anywhere. It is possible to keep up with your exercise regime and eat healthy meals . The restaurants take great care catering to special dietary concerns and there is always something wholesome to choose from if you are so inclined. The wellness community could feel comfortable here.Lots of other selections and plenty of goodies too !! Big shout out for making our trip such a treat for us, goes out to concierge Arath, Alexis in the sports bar, Raziel at La Fondue, and Francisco de Asis (new dad), Carmen Castillo, Victoria Ramirez and Erika Lopez at the Buffet Sunset! We had such great smiling service from each and every one of them!"
