This hotel is situated with a beautiful view of the Portovenere marina and a convenient stroll along the water to historic churches high on hilltops. The hotel itself is impeccably renovated and the staff is kind and helpful. It is located with a bus stop that offers low cost access to the railway at La Spezia that goes to all the towns along Cinque Terre. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the wait staff is attentive in every way. The town of Portovenere is still preserved with narrow streets and picturesque houses and doorways. It is, in many ways, different that the other Cinque Terre towns with a little more antiquity to see.

My girlfriend and I had an amazing stay! Starting from the room with a beautiful view on the port and refined furniture. The hotel delighted us with a fantastic surprise: local products and a welcome letter directly from the manager. The staff was wonderful: the guys working at the garage were so helpful with our car and the reception was ready for our arrival. They also complimented us on our anniversary! Restaurant was terrific, food and service have been a real 5 stars experience. Don't miss the mussels, typical food from the region. On the last day we took a boat tour around Cinque Terre and it was so great. The reception handled it with touch and we didn't have to think to a single thing. This is why you must choose Grand Hotel Portovenere if you're looking forward to visit Portovenere and Cinque Terre. Can't wait to be back with the rest of my family!

Fantastic location, good breakfast, loved the room with comfy bed and great shower. The staff and management were excellent and accommodating. We normally don't try the restaurants of hotels we stay at, but the atmosphere was very inviting, the views to die for, and the food was really good!

This is an exceptionally good hotel. We stayed for a week, in a delightful junior suite overlooking Portovenere's bustling, beautiful harbour. During our week we walked around the neighbouring island of Palmaria, and between the Cinque Terre villages, taking advantage of the ferries and the trains. As such, Portovenere proved to be the perfect base for exploration. As for the hotel - from the very start we were greeted by smiling, friendly, helpful staff in all areas of the hotel. This continued throughout the week - everyone seemed determined to ensure that we had the best possible stay. We arrived on the day of "Madonna Bianca", and enjoyed watching the celebrations from the restaurant terrace, where we ate an excellent meal. The room was first-class: pristine and well-maintained, also quiet and peaceful when we needed to rest. The breakfast options were extensive, including a buffet area with a fine selection of the best Liguria has to offer. Service, again, was friendly and flawless. It's no exaggeration to say that this is one of the very best hotels in which we have ever stayed. We were sad to leave. Congratulations to all involved in making our stay memorable and hugely enjoyable.!

We loved this hotel, the staff and management were excellent. Thank you so much for looking after us so well over our ten day stay with you. Spotlessly clean and comfortable hotel. Breakfast was the best I have had on the many trips to Italy and the meals in the restaurant were very good indeed. Thank you again to all the staff from the hall porters to chambermaids and all other members of the staff team. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

This was the best hotel in our opinion in Cinque Terre! We also had the best room - it was a splurge and worth it as our room overlooked the town of Portovenere and the harbor area. We ate breakfast in the morning the three days we were there and the staff was professional and helpful. Our room was nicely appointed and comfortable. If we are to go back to Cinque Terre - I would want to stay at Grand Hotel Portovenere.

In addition to Cinque Terre we loved visiting the Gulf of Poets, unexpectedly beautiful and full of charm and history. Great location, average hotel
This hotel has the best location in Porto Venere and gives the most fabulous view from its terrace where we ate breakfast each morning. The breakfast choice was excellent and the staff were attentive and very friendly. Having said all that I don’t think it deserves its 5 star status....
This hotel has the best location in Porto Venere and gives the most fabulous view from its terrace where we ate breakfast each morning. The breakfast choice was excellent and the staff were attentive and very friendly. Having said all that I don’t think it deserves its 5 star status. The room we stayed in certainly didn’t feel very luxurious and the common areas had nothing special about them. If you’re going to charge top dollar prices you’ve got to make it really special.

The best hotel in the area. Great bar staff and the restaurant is great for dinner. Breakfast is boring but it is included with most rates. Room was certainly adequate and Portovenere is a nice scene. Early morning walks were wonderful. Our room had a balcony which was great for a cigar and the mattress was good for sleep. Recommended to stay here and just charter a boat for Cinque Terre. The hotel can arrange and their captain Marcelo is a pirate. One of the best parts of our trip.
