We have just returned from a short stay at the hotel. We drove from our holiday home inland. We booked via Leading Hotels of the World which comes with surcharge for additional amenities. Disappointingly we didn't get some of our LHW benefits - no early check in, no late check out. Baring in mind we stayed in February (low season) I would have anticipated these benefits. It must be impossible to get them any other time of the year. Equally on checking in we were advised we didn't have breakfast. Again as an LHW member we were entitled to continental breakfast. When my husband reminded the receptionist of this we were then granted the breakfast. We were gifted some oranges and white wine in our room which was a nice touch. We didn't get our LHW room upgrade either. So having paid extra for the room using this benefit, it was quite disappointing. If you read the experience we had at Anantara Marbella just a few weeks prior, there was no comparison! The hotel itself is very beautiful and in an excellent, central location. Parking was valet and charged at 29 euros per night. There isn't an internal bar as such, it is situated in the lobby area, so we weren't so keen on this layout. There is a rooftop bar which had amazing views over the city and we enjoyed this space. We didn't use the spa so can't review that. Our room was absolutely stunning and very well appointed. There were plenty of amenities and a fully stocked mini bar. We had a beautiful lunch and drinks on the outdoor terrace area. The pool was a great space to relax with plenty of loungers and towels. All in all we had a lovely stay but we were disappointed with the lack of LHW benefits and this may put us off returning in the future (a shamed as we have a holiday home nearby and love to stay in properties the night before our flight home.) Please look out for our YouTube review and tour in the coming weeks @thejetsetcouple Many thanks, Victoria

Wonderful stay here for 4 nights, the ALL staff are excellent here, very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Everyone always said good morning, hello or goodbye to us. The room we had (312) was beautiful with toiletries, mini bar, snack cupboard and it was spotlessly clean throughout. Breakfast was in a light and airy dining room, with a great choice of food each money, there is definitely something for everyone here. Although we did not use the outdoor pool (due to the weather) it looks like a relaxing area to sit on nicer days. All the areas around the hotel had a relaxed feel to them and the rooftop bar which we visited in the evening was very relaxing. Overall this hotel I have to say is 1st Class and that is because of all the amazing staff that they have. If visiting Malaga again (which we hope to) this would be our go to hotel without question.

Just had the most wonderful nine nights experience in this pure GEM of a hotel . Let’s start with the luxurious Deluxe room we chose . Extremely comfortable and immaculately presented each day . The housekeeping staff were excellent in every aspect . The team at Breakfast looked after us so well as they presented a stunning selection of “anything you wanted” ! Superb restaurant for dinner also . The poolside restaurant- lovely food and choices . The reception team also acknowledged us upon every exit and arrival which was so welcoming. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side during this stay but knowing that this hotel was so comfortable and relaxing we throughly enjoyed our time . We will recommend this top hotel to all our friends and business clientele within our hair salon in Scotland . We will for sure be returning for another stay . Thankyou Gran Hotel Miramar ..

We chose the hotel for our last night as we had walked past it earlier in the week. The hotel was lovely, staff friendly, breakfast good, room comfortable and I am sure that had the weather been good, sitting on the terrace would have been gorgeous. The added bonus of the star wars event was a surprise! We would definitely return.

True 5 star hotel in Malaga!
Beautiful and big room, good location and staffs are very helpful. Breakfast was nice. They cleaned up the room twice a day, made up your bed and room with chocolate ready for a good night. Love to come back again. Highly recommend to everyone!

The quality of Miramar’s service was beyond what I’ve experienced in almost all five star hotels in over 50 years! This quality starts the moment you enter and its staff is customer focused. It continues once something goes wrong and they immediately turn it into an opportunity to serve as and make it right. Then the it crescendos with all the little personal attentions from the breakfast restaurant to the room staff to the customer relationship head to the GM and finally the doormen. Bravo Miramar!

This is a truly beautiful hotel. When you step in you are welcomed by the staff who instantly make you feel special and relaxed. It was unseasonably bad weather when we arrived as Malaga and Marbella had been having strong winds and rain, however, that did not detract from our stay. After checking into our room which was beautiful we visited their Royal Lounge & Bar and had a coffee, the Royal Lounge is magnificent set in a very high atrium adorned by stunning glass drop lights which show up the magnificent woodwork. The breakfasts are marvellous with an extensive choice, being served by a waiter for coffee, tea or chocolate is an added pleasure. Due to the weather the Botanical Restaurant was closed as it is by the pool, we didn’t get time to visit Principe de Asturias Restaurant as we spent our evenings in the Media Luna Chill-Out Bar where we dined and had a cocktail. The Luna Chill Out Bar is really not to be missed and was a lovely place to finish the day with once again impeccable service. Thank you all at the Grand Hotel Miramar GL for a stay we will never forget at your truly beautiful hotel. Linda & Tony

It was an amazing experience, staff were so friendly and very helpful, the hotel was spotless, food was super, it truly is a Grand Hotel.our room had a seafront view, a beautiful pool but very cold, at this time of year. I highly recommend staying here.

Very disappointing for a five star hotel. Our deluxe room was located on floor zero - the ground floor, one level down from the lobby. the room had little natural light as the neighboring building blocked sunlight from entering. In addition, there was only a sliding door with no other windows. When I pointed this out to the receptionist at check-out, he admitted that rooms on that floor are dark, but made no real effort to apologize. Tiling and furniture were subpar for a 5-star hotel. The bathroom was incredibly disappointing. Tiny shower (difficult to move around inside) that was placed facing the toilet and bidet. Very little space. While parts of the hotel are grand and luxurious (the lobby, for example), our hallway seemed industrial. Signage was poor or non-existent. There are two sections to level zero, accessed by different elevators. No clear indication of how to get to the spa, the restaurants, etc. We spent 20 minutes looking for each. The spa cost an additional 30 euros to simply use the facilities. The pool area looked like a middling Vegas hotel. And the pool (and hotel) is built next to a busy roadway. Dinner and breakfast were good. Not sure what other options there are in Malaga, but we just completed a tour of southern Spain and Tangier and this was the low point.

Everything about our stay was perfect. On arrival one of the doormen met us at our cab with an umbrella. The check in manager helped us with our improving Spanish and our room was ready early. A beautiful hotel. Lovely gardens, a pool bar that was open in December and a wonderful room that was spotless. Breakfast was varied and great quality. 10 minutes walk to the port and about 20 to Larios. A 5* hotel that feels genuinely high end. Thanks to the staff for making our stay perfect.

Located directly across the street from the beach, the Gran Hotel Miramar occupies a magnificently restored building with terrific views of the Mediterranean. We arrived in early December and my wife loved the holiday decorations. We spent two days at the Miramar; we had a deluxe room facing the sea. The room was spacious and comfortable, with marble floors, a big bathroom and a balcony; the decor in the room was nothing special, but you can’t beat the view. And, though there is a busy road separating the hotel property from the beach, there was no discernible noise from outdoors in our room all night; it was very quiet. Though the weather was too chilly for a swim, the hotel boasts a very nice size pool. The fitness center is smallish, but has adequate equipment for a good workout; and the running trail directly across the street allows for good runs along the beach. The hotel is about a 15 minute easy walk from the historic center of Malaga. While there are several restaurants in the hotel, there are also several great restaurants in the small neighborhood immediately adjacent to the hotel property. The staff was very welcoming and helpful, from the valet parking, to check-in to housekeeping. All in all, this is a special hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed staying here for our visit to Malaga.

Beautiful hotel with lovely rooms and friendly staff. Quiet rooms, elegantly furnished and large tv. Unfortunately only a couple or so of channels in English but it was amusing to see old TV favourites in German! Fully understand why the pool was closed for the winter but it would have been nice to use the spa pool for a lower price. The pool is advertised in the lift and it would be helpful if it had a note to say it was seasonal. The Christmas decorations were fabulous.

This is a hotel that truly wants to be a 5 star but sadly is not. First it should be sated that the property and rooms are stunning and the location not bad - about a 15 minute walk to the downtown. Bell staff and front desk are professional and offer a good "face" to the property. From there however service is average to below average and very spotty. Turndown ranged from 7pm to after 10. Laundry was retuned after 9pm. While the breakfast offered a nice buffet selection the service there was horrible. Omlet chef was never at his station and if you wanted an egg order you wait about 10 minutes before he finally appears from the kitchen. Then he is grumpy becuse a line extends across the buffet area from having waited for him. Servers ignore your tables and the only way you can get a beverage is to walk up to them to get their attention. Seating hosts, when available, are not attentive. All of them preferred to talk between themselves vs serving the customers around them. While the room was nice with a stunning view of the sea, the television was nonfunctioning when we checked in. While this normally might be a non issue since we don't watch TV, all of the hotel hours and services (room service menu, mini bar prices, etc) are dispalyed on the TV so we were unable to determine these needs. Generally however the hotel was clean and public areas well attended to. Of the 3 elevators only one seemed to work. One showed under repair for the whole stay - a second, which operates using a seperate button, was spotty in its performance. Overall it's a stunning property with the potential to be a true 5 star. However, in its current state with the service level it offers it would be a high 3 star. Perhaps a low 4.

We stayed for 7 nights in the first week in November and when we arrived at the hotel we were both very impressed with the overall sight of the hotel particularly the hotel foyer was amazing absolutely beautiful, the staff that checked us in and indeed almost all of the staff were really very kind polite and helpful, we were shown to our room again by a very nice member of staff , the room didn’t disappoint and it was everything we could have hoped for inclusive of its nice patio area , The hotel itself is located just on the coast road with a very good sea food restaurant just across the road and we would highly recommend it particularly for lunch , The hotel is a 15 minute walk to the old town of Malaga and the walk itself is really nice and brings you by the marina with all its nice bars and restaurants particularly ( Salao street food ) and (Angus muelle uno) Were the hotel looses 4 stars for us is when we went for breakfast on our first morning.when we arrived at the restaurant door we were told to sit anywhere we wished so we showed ourselves in and picked a table , the breakfast restaurant is very nice and we believe is only used for breakfast, The problem the restaurant management have is the very basic thing about hot food is that it is hot . Our first 3 days dining there were pretty bad but on the day 4 we spotted some fresh scrambled egg being put out as we arrived in so we said we will have the scrambled egg. But to say they were cold is an understatement for sure they were taken from a fridge or cold room and served . There is a chef at the counter frying eggs but unfortunately this was the only hot option and every else from the hot counter was COLD even when we asked for hot water every day for tea (we are Irish 😊) it was always Luke warm at best . After the cold food of day 4 we went to see the hotel manage to give her our feed back she could not have been nicer about it and promised better the next day But unfortunately day 5 was the very same so we drew a line under it and gave up 😊 We had intended to have one night in the hotels Michelin star restaurant but gave it a miss for the fear of cold food . All in all the hotel and its staff are 5 star but the breakfast restaurant is only 1 star Iam afraid Would we go back maybe not , I think the secret for 5 star hotels is to get the very basics right , also 30 euro to use the indoor pool in a 5 star hotel seems strange to me but maybe that’s the norm . Stay cost just short on 2500 euro
