A couple of expresso pods only dispensed water. Bottled water was not always replenished. This is not what you expect from a pricey resort.

Great experience with my fiancée for three days this past week. Here are my pros and cons.
Pros:
-excellent food for an all inclusive, we were surprised at the great quality of the food given the AI, I’ve been to over 15 AI resorts in Mexico and this place stands out overall. Dao, the steakhouse, the lunch options all excellent
-good service at the rooftop, pools, and rooftop
-very clean rooms and resort is pristine
Cons:
-the check in process is a nightmare and can easily be fixed, they have everyone stand in one line and only have two or three open desks that cause a huge back up and to be honest the staff are not friendly and come off rude. This really is an issue that Tafer needs to address, by far my biggest complain and I can see why it rubs people the wrong way esp as it is your first moments in the resort
-the beach itself is clean and has nice white sand, but if you want to swim there are too many rocks in the Garza Blanca section, I recommend walking right over to villa de palmar which has a open area to swim and is available to use for GB guests
-having to sign for every drink or meal makes no sense when we are wearing the all inclusive wrist bands, all this does is cause confusion for the guests, I get that there are some guests that do a la carte, but then why give the wrist bands if guests have to sign for every bill regardless
-lack of any nighttime bar separate from the lobby bar, nothing really to do after dinner
-would recommend confirming every dinner res with a confirmation email, if you make a reservation somewhere you should get confirmation proof

I did not stay here - previously stayed at Villa Del Palmar next door and had a wonderful visit. However I received a text and call today about a promotion. The person on the phone was dismissive and rude when I asked for written details regarding the promotion. He told me “never mind” and then said he would “just follow up” with my husband. I started to respond that he would get the same answer and he hung up on me. I responded to his text with a similar message. He replied with a very insulting and disparaging message.
This is the exact opposite way to talk to a former and potential returning guest- especially when you are trying to sell them something. I had planned to return at some point and to recommend to friends to stay at either of these properties - but now I will not.

Fermin was awesome! He’s always very helpful and super friendly, and such a nice person. He welcomes us enthusiastically and makes us feel at home. He is wonderful! We have stayed at Garza 3 times now and Fermin has always been great every time.
Luis and Francisco are the best butlers! They took the best care of us and our friends, they really made us feel special and exceeded our expectations. Room was beautiful, the food in every restaurant was fantastic. The amenities were amazing.

We recently stayed at Garza Blanca Cancun for 7 nights with a group of 185 guests for a 3-day wedding celebration. Unfortunately, what should have been a joyous occasion was marred by a deeply disappointing experience with the hotel’s housekeeping and management.
My wife brought carefully selected designer outfits and accessories for the events, including suede and satin shoes, and two high-end straw hats by Louis Vuitton and Hermès. Shockingly, during turndown service on two separate nights, the housekeeping staff entered the closet in our room—a place they had no business accessing—and placed heavy pillows directly on top of her items. The first night, they crushed her dress shoes. The second night, they squashed her expensive hats, which were clearly visible and safely placed on the top shelf.
We weighed the pillows in front of the hotel manager, Sara Castellano: 10 pounds total. Yet when we addressed this with management, Room Division Manager Sara Castellano dismissed the concern, insisting the pillows weren’t heavy enough to cause damage. This was despite the obvious deformation of the hats and the fact that we weighed them in her presence. Neither she, Josue, the front desk manager, nor another staff member named Orlando, the housekeeping manager, offered any apology, accountability, or resolution.
It’s unacceptable for housekeeping to enter guests’ closets at all, let alone treat personal belongings with such disregard. There were plenty of other places in the room where the pillows could have gone—benches, chairs, anywhere but inside the closet.
Our friends, especially my wife’s close circle, were appalled, and it put a damper on what was supposed to be a festive and memorable event. We will never return to Garza Blanca, Hotel Mousai, or any property the Tafer group owns. Several of our friends feel the same.
A luxury hotel should know how to handle high-end belongings and, more importantly, should know how to own up to its mistakes. Garza Blanca failed on both fronts.

Returned for second visit because unusually outstanding Chinese & Japanese food, diverse breakfasts plus Great beds, staff service, & comfort. Excellent Vacation at Garza Blanca Cancun
Excellent resort and staff at our first visit to a Tafer property. Food choices were many and quality was very good. DAO Chinese was our favorite! Staff were very attentive and very kind/helpful. Gus was our butler and he was great in keeping us updated daily and helping with amenities.

When we visited Garza Blanca in 2022 I thought I’d found my dream resort. Fast forward to 2025, and it’s quickly become a nightmare. First and foremost, when we checked into our room there were open containers left from another guest. When I called to address the issue, I was told “We’re sorry.” This resulted in having to go to the front desk after traveling a long way and all we wanted to do was relax. I requested to change rooms and was told it could happen the next day. Later that night, we were introduced to Garza Blanca/Tafer’s unsafe practices by being awaken the the middle of the night by maintenance because they had to go through our room to open the door for our neighbors next door. Absurd. We watched this man move a planter and climb over a wall to get to the neighboring balcony to open the door from the inside, followed by more than an hour of noise while they worked and did repairs. This was after 10:00 pm - again, after a long day of travel. We changed rooms the next day but it was after 3:00 pm so that is time we missed out on enjoying our room. While the rest of the stay was moderate, the real issue came upon checkout. We had an early morning checkout—1:00 a.m. I tried to go to the desk the earlier in the night to take care of my bill. I was told to take care of it at checkout. I did so and now I have incurred a double charge for services at the resort. I am furious! Because no one will answer the phone or call us back, I now have to dispute this charge with my credit card company. If someone does not answer me soon, I will be taking legal action. This is absolutely unacceptable and there aren’t enough words to express how disappointing this has been. After speaking with a couple of other couples at the resort, I am forced to wonder if we were treated poorly and disregarded because of our race.
Be cautious if you decide to stay here. It’s beautiful and has good qualities but the service is not even up to the standards of a budget motel let alone a a 5-star resort based on this experience.

Carlos S., a bellman, was a perfect gentleman. Gustavo our butler was the ultimate of kind service. The lobby is spectacular! The rooftop infinity pool was breathtaking. The assortment of restaurants was plentiful in number and variety.

This is our third visit to Garza Blanca, twice in Cancun and once in Cabo. All three were excellent and this last visit to Cancun was exceptional. We love the hotel and found the service to be exceptional. All the restaurants are incredibly good. Our pool service was the best it could be. We always love the suite and we feel so comfortable spreading out and enjoying the living room. The bed is extremely comfortable and the bathroom is great too. We never left the property one time and just relaxed, read and enjoyed all the amenities. We also love the sommelier, Mr. Soriano. Excellent!
There were a few things that were upsetting. We found housekeeping overall to be very good, but one day we had to call later in the afternoon, to get serviced even though we put the tag on our door and were gone for several hours. The last day and a half, none of the snacks were ever replenished, and we can tell they were rushing. We tipped well every day, but some days it didn’t seem to matter.
The most frustrating issue occurred at check out, which was sad to leave on a bad note. We were told that we were given a $300 credit to be used, and since most things are inclusive, we had limited use for it. But I did book an expensive facial and we ordered a bottle of wine one night and then found out they hardly credited us anything because there are all these stipulations. We were stunned, and the lady at the desk told me I should have read the terms of the use of the credits. I never once thought I had to read through terms. She was not friendly, just matter of fact.
They do so so many things incredibly well but there are a few things that were aggravating.
Garza Blanca deserves great praise for the many things that seem flawless. Their staff is so well trained.
We most likely would go back but I hope someone reads this, because we are very reasonable people and love to travel, and some of this can be avoided.

This was our second stay at the Garza Blanca Cancun. While our first stay was exceptional, the second time around was good but marred by a few issues. I’ll start with the cons. The first room - when we entered our room and inspected all aspects of it, we found open containers of ice cream and beverage and moldy ice in the freezer. The ceiling fan in the bedroom was not working, nor were the USB plugs. For the amount of money charged for a stay, I do not expect to have any issues, let alone these types of issues. When I called to report the issues, I was told we’re sorry. I had to go to the front desk and show pictures of the open containers and at that point, we were told we could switch room but not until the following morning. This was disappointing as it was clear to me the resort was not full. Around 10:30 p.m. the same night, we received a phone call from the front desk asking if we could let maintenance into our room because they needed to open the door to the neighboring room. We opened the door and watched maintenance go into our balcony and scale the wall to get onto another balcony to open the door to the room. From there, we listened to hammering and drilling for another hour. When we reported this the following day, we were given a $200 food and beverage credit, which is absurd for an all inclusive resort. This should have been a partial refund for that night or at least a usable credit for things like spa services. The manager, Josue, told me the spa was run by a third party and they could not discount it. Again, absurd. I was beyond disappointed and after chatting with another couple that was a different race, I do wonder if my husband and I were dismissed because of our race.
The good - once we checked into our new room, all was well and the accommodations were wonderful. Please note that not all rooms are created equal at this resort. The one-bedroom suites in the main building facing the beach have different amenities and different items, one being the mattress. The mattress in the original room was very cinder block-ish. This mattress was much more comfortable. The food is excellent and the drinks are some of the best. Do not miss out on Dao. The food here is amazing. The spa is awesome. Pricier than what they should be but worth a visit. The service is also good, excluding the service of day manager Josue. His service was abysmal to say he was a manager. For all the issues we had, he never followed up. But the rest staff we encountered was great.
The checkout process was long and caused us to be late for our transportation, which was disappointing. All in all it was a good stay but I’m unsure about returning to this location given some of the issues we experienced and the unacceptable customer service to address the issues. Resorts are getting more and more expensive and for the money charged, good customer service is a non-negotiable.
