Having been to safari a couple of times before, we were not quite sure what kind of experience to expect at the tented camp, both in terms of facilities and animal experiences. Safe to say any of our reservations disappeared the moment we stepped off the plane. The hotel picked us up in a nice and modern minivan, completed with the usual wifi, cold towels, water and snacks. The arrival on longtail boat gave us a sense of place and was a good introduction to the experience for the next few days. Room 5/5 We had the #1 the elephant tent - it offered a great view over the river and the plains. We were a bit hesitant on the only outdoor shower concept as we didn't like bugs/mozzies, but it was perfectly fine. You could also shower indoor at the bathtub if you wish. Everything here was in tip top shape and the room was gorgeous. It's so comfortable with all the modern amenities one will ever need. Services - 5/5 Having just 16 tents in total, this is on a smaller scale than even most of the Amans. Like at any Aman hotels, you don't need to sign any bills here, everyone knows you on the first name basis and they know what you have done or what you are going to do on the day. This is probably the only Four Seasons hotel I know of that delivers this kind of personable experience. The assistant camp manager, Ajit, was always on the property to chat with you throughout the day. He's very passionate about the whole hotel, and will share with you a lot of interesting stories and history about the elephants, the camp itself and the area. Everyone here was extremely courteous, friendly and fun in the Thai way, i.e. they're always happy to chat with you and joke with you and always willing to go the extra mile to help you out. The room attendants, were on par with the Aman ninjas. Every time you step out for meals or activities, someone will freshen up your room, and you'd never see anyone going in/out of your room. Activities - 5/5 We stayed 4 nights here, so a wide range of activities were included. We did the elephant walk, golden triangle excursion, wine and cheese tasting, countryside biking, picnic in style and the hall of opium museum visit. The interactions with elephants were amazing, you can walk up and interact with them and learn the different personalities of them! All the other activities were also extremely well done. We also opted for the elephant camp dinner to celebrate our anniversary and we absolutely loved it, they'll have a nice surprise for you in store if you do go for it. Spa - 5/5 The massage room was open-air, and it had a gorgeous view! It's was a perfect way to enjoy a great massage in such a stunning environment. It truly is a one-of-a-kind spa treatment experience. F&B 5/5 THE THAI FOOD HERE IS AMAZING! Having been to Thailand countless times, I can say that the food here is the best we have ever had, and it's not an exaggeration by any means. We are itching to go back just to dine at the restaurant. The daily sundowner at Burma bar and the private bucket sundowner were a great way to wind down and enjoy the sunset views over Myanmar. Cocktails were pretty good and the free-flow wines were decent as well. Conclusion: At first look the rates do look steep. However, it's at an all-inclusive basis, incl all the drinks, meals and activities, and everything here was absolutely perfect. It's difficult to find a hotel with such good hardware, services, activities and most important amazing food. I'd argue that it's actually pretty decent value, especially considering the remote location and the small scale of the hotel. Also the hotel elephants always seemed to be in a relaxed and happy mood, I'd believe that the elephants at the foundation were being treated very well. This simply is one of the most memorably and extraordinary experience we have had, and we're extremely glad to have chosen to celebrate our wedding anniversary here. If you are reading this review, please absolutely do not hesitate and make a booking right away, you won't regret it. Many congratulations to Ajit and Ralph on doing such a great job managing this magnificent hotel.

So we recently just experienced a trip of a lifetime in late November 2024, and a part of our amazing trip was at the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle. If you are looking for a completely different experience. Get off the Grid a bit. Then head to the Four Seasons Tented Camp in Thailand. I cannot speak any higher of this place! It was exception! It blew away our expectations. The staff was amazing! They really have created a culture here that truly is 'customer focused'. And they are all just really nice people. And it really starts at the top with their management. I do apologize. But I will probably be forgetting some names. But the people that really made it special for us were 'Poy' (Paweena...and we did connect up with Marie in the Maldives...and OMG...she's amazing) and we so enjoyed our conversations about diving with you, 'One' also knows as Ajit, the the associate manager. We saw him daily. Checking in with us to see how we were doing. It was so great to have you connecting with us to find out how our trip was going. Filippo (director of restaurant and bar...and btw...we still need to try your drink recipes...and these are amazing cocktails you will want to take home with you.) 'Rain'...your elephant and I leader. He knows so much about the elephants and their care. We found it very educational. Tom. He lead our excursions to Chiang Rai and Golden Triangle experience. We felt so comfortable asking him questions. Very approachable. And we cannot forget Nee. She lead our wine/cheese night and just amazing person...smile that is non stop. She also serves during lunch and dinner (she will not let your wine glass go unfilled. lol) Food: The food was exceptional!! Kudos to the chef...Sirintip! I wished we had a few more opportunities to experience your food. Every meal was incredible! And if you go to dinner 'not that hungry'. Feel free to ask for a 1/2 portion. All the food we had was amazing....and of course the Northern Thai food. OMG. Massage: I have to say. This was the first ever professional massage I have experienced. I thought it was amazing. I'm glad that they asked ahead of time if you would like a mild/moderate/hard Thai massage. My husband and I chose the moderate massage. And it was exceptional! People/Customer focus: Well. I think the beginning of my review states it all. Accommodations: Exceptional. For sleeping in a Tent. It was an amazingly comfortable bed. Great shower. I wished we could have enjoyed our room a bit more. But we arrived late the first night, and left early our last day, so our activities were compressed to 2 full days. But we are good with that. Breakfast/Elephants: Every morning. The elephants came to have breakfast with us. And you get an opportunity to feed the elephants bananas/cucumbers/coconuts. It's AWESOME! It's an unbelievable experience. And of course the food is incredible.

This hotel / camp is very good indeed. The staff are excellent, especially the guides who really make it. Everyone knows you by name. The “tents” are very well appointed with great views. Not nearly as much wildlife (eg birds) as I would hope or you would experience in eg Africa but nonetheless quite stunning. Elephants come to breakfast and are fed next to the restaurant. The Elephant and I experience is incredible as you get right next to the elephants and was the highlight. A real privilege. The camp is actually quite spread out, taking eg 10 minutes to walk between the reception / restaurant to the bar at the other end. There are quite a few steps along the way. But if you are fit and able, no issues. The bar at the end is very well positioned over the river. Great cocktails. The food is excellent; generally I find Four Seasons does not hit the mark but here they do. Dinner is a choice between a Thai or Western menu and you can mix and match courses. Great service. And all inclusive. It is super expensive, especially relative to what you would get for a top African safari lodge. I really struggle to justify how much I paid. However, they are supporting a foundation looking after elephants that had previously tough lives and they employ a lot of people at the camp supporting the local community. If you can get your mind around the expense, definitely go. A great experience.

The nature experience, the location, the views, the time with the elephants was really special and unique. The "tents" are so comfortable, large, well maintained and terrific views. The Burma Bar is really a must for sunsets. We did a couple of experiences and both were perfect. Really, can't say enough good things.....

Elephants were chained for the entire day right in front of our room many times we saw the elephants attempt to get to each other but the chains would not allow them. NATURAL HABITATE The elephants are chained almost all day. They are not moved from the spot they are placed from morning to dusk. In some cases we saw 2 elephants trying to reach for other but unable due to the chains. SIGNS OF STRESS One female we saw 4 times was swaying back and forth with her trunk swaying upper body was swaying she never stopped. We were told by the Four Seasons staff that the elephants were only chained at night yet every elephant we saw was chained all day. NONE were able to roam free. Suggestions: tourists go in safari vehicles like Africa does to see the elephants. At Nagala tent camp they have a set up that attracts to the lodge and the elephants drink from the pool. We were told this wasn’t possible as the trucks would scare them yet there were trucks and motor bikes in the elephant areas all day and quite a few of them. The staff and service provided was excellent. The accommodations were fair to good considering this was Four Seasons. We have stayed at other tent camps which were far superior.

Whilst the staff were amazing and the food and drink excellent as were the tours , the elephant experience and the complementary massage for 2 ( everything was included in price) we were disappointed with the rooms which were dark and the facilities antiquated. We knew we would be staying in a tent but didn’t realise that the WC, shower, bath and basins would be so old and rustic. The bed was good but the lighting inadequate and it was impossible to roll up the layers of plastic and canvas blinds which form the walls of the tent . Also we were in the furthest tent from the restaurant so we needed a jeep to get there although this service was excellent. It was difficult to get in and out of the jeep . Another criticism is the bar shuts at 8 which meant there was nothing to do after dinner. There are no TV’s in room .

This hotel has been on my bucket list for such a long time. And boy, it didn’t disappoint. this is not your ordinary Four Seasons, instead you’ll sleep in a (very luxurious) tent with views over Laos and Myanmar. There are only around 15 tents, all very private and so it gets never crowded. We booked the four-day adventure package which included e.g. Spa treatments, visiting the elephants twice, bike tour etc. The staff is incredible - so attentive, kind and welcoming. Special shoutout to the camp manager Poy, who is such a great host, making sure that everybody is having their best time. Also Norman, who is the funniest and most knowledgable guide, He can do it all: elephant guide, bike instructor or temple guide in Chiang Mai. Of course, the highlights are the visits to see the elephants. The six Four Seasons elephants belong also to a foundation, where „unemployed“ elephants can live their best life. Contrary to earlier days, you are no longe allowed to ride elephants (which I am very supportive of), but you can visit them in the grassland or up on the hill. There is only one restaurant for breakfast, lunch & dinner, however the menu is very diverse (not only Thai). Everything we tasted was 10/10. I highly recommend to stay 4 nights to make use of all the amenities and also it’s quite a trip to get there from BKK. Poy & team: thank you very much for making our stay unforgettable - we’ll cherish the memories forever!!

Stayed here with my husband for our honeymoon. The rooms are so beautifully designed and the staff is incredible. They had a wine and cheese prepared for us on our first night and our somelier was amazing we loved him along with the rest of the staff and the camp manager. Airlines lost my husbands bag so they also let us do some laundry without charge which was so kind. My only reason to give this a 4 out of 5 instead of a 5 out of 5 was that some of the listed complimentary services on their website werent offered (such as a cocktail making class) or were not complimentary like the hike. We did the small hike that ended up costing over 200$ and even though our guide Rain was awesome, the hike was not worth that price. Their Christmas dinner prepared was also very intimate and beautiful. Thank you for a great stay Four Seasons Tented Camp.

This is truly unique experience. Everything is unexpected ! 5 stars tents in the middle of tropical forest, elephants eating just next to you their breakfast (actually you can feed them !), high class food and creative drinks at sundown Burma Bar. On top of this, super professional team, taking care of all guests to make our stay unforgettable. All team members were great but we would like to give a special THANK YOU to Lei (hope to write properly his name !), as he is multi skilled person : great guide through Thai wines and cheeses, professional waiter and creative bartender (his author drink LADYBOY is a must try !). We also had wonderful walk with elephants and also very nice trip to the nearest small city, with authentic market and beautiful temples. But in case you think to go to Four Seasons, hurry up ! The uniqueness of this place might disappear soon, as on the other bank of the river Chinese investors are building so called “Laos Vegas”, with loud music and skyscrapers. So,change your plans for 2024 and put Four Seasons Tented Camp on top of your list !
