Four Seasons Tamarindo is an incredible gem nestled on the Pacific coast of Mexico. The staff is friendly and enthusiastic about providing a great experience for the guests. This was my 3rd visit to the resort, and since the last trip, more activities have been added, along with the new Rancho Lola. I recommend the cooking class and tour at Rancho Lola. For dinner, Sal was outstanding and at lunchtime, Nacho was fun. Drinks were excellent, especially at Nacho and Sal. They used customized large ice cubes with the Four Seasons logo. At breakfast, there are more coffee options than at most other Four Seasons resorts. They even have Chemex coffee and locally sourced beans. The hotel gym was nice and not that busy. The entire Tamarindo team was friendly and did their best to make this trip a memorable experiences. Recommend Four Seasons Tamarindo, especially if you want something farther away from the crowds and more quiet.

By far the best vacation that we've ever had! We loved every moment of our two-week stay in the cliffside suite with the infinity pool. The rooms are spacious, modern, and equipped with world-class amenities. If you love a remote, secluded place with pristine nature, quiet coastline, night sky filled with stars then you won't be disappointed by any means with the Tamarindo Four Seasons. The views from the pool to the cliffs and ocean are breathtaking! A truly unique location! The food is superb, be it a breakfast buffet, one of two restaurants or a taco bistro. All products are grown locally on site or brought from nearby farms! A special thank you to chef Mario Castro, whose talent cannot be ignored. One evening we asked for Surf and Turf, which was not on the menu, and we got the best Surf and Turf ever! In the evenings, two restaurants are at your disposal with their daily specials. Again, everything, including desserts, was impeccable. It makes it difficult to highlight some individual dishes. There are many activities offered daily, many of which are complimentary. Without much enthusiasm, we decided to try a few and were pleasantly surprised! It was fun and educational. Birdwatching with Oveth was so cool that we actually did it twice. A biologist, he is very knowledgeable about birds and other species in the reserve territory. It was great seeing rare endemic birds in their natural habitat. A special thank you to Jerry for the Guac workshop and Mezcal testing class! Thank you to Armando for the coffee workshop and making the best coffee! Thank you to Leo for the wine testing class! Thank you to Alex, Erik, and Carla from Sal restaurant. Thank you to Brandon from the pool/ Majahua! Thank you to Raoul, the manager of the Coyul restaurant! Thank you to Osvaldo, a Coyul bartender, whose cocktails we highly rated. Of course, as usual, there is always room for improvement and I would like to note a few things. Although this did not mar the overall impression, when we asked for room service the cocktails were inconsistent and differed greatly in taste. There was also some miscommunication about the timing for room cleaning I am sure these minor things will improve over time, It's an easy fix. Thanks to the entire Tamarindo Team. You are the ones who create the atmosphere and make the place special. Every one of you was polite and friendly. We felt welcomed. We truly appreciate your hard work and can't wait to return.

Four Seasons Tamarindo is officially my favorite hotel in the entire world. Our experience began with our transfer from the Manzanillo Airport to the hotel, which takes roughly one hour and costs around $250 USD for an SUV. Not only did we meet our driver, but we were also picked up by the most charming, bubbly and professional member of guest services: Camilla! Camilla was an amazing person to introduce us to Manzanillo, and was perfectly engaging on our drive to the resort (which took about an hour). Camilla explained the resort and answered any questions that we had. She was also super sweet in offering us quiet time, even though we totally enjoyed chatting with her! We then got to the resort and were totally blown away. The modern lobby sits on a cliff with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Spectacular! We were given welcome drinks (you can choose with or without tequila, we obviously chose with) and then shown to our insane panoramic cliffside pool suite. There is no better word than WOW to capture this room. It’s absolutely huge with a living room/bar area, bedroom with another sitting area and a huge bathroom with indoor/outdoor showers, a deep soaking tub and walk-in closet. All spaces had floor to ceiling glass windows with an unbelievable ocean view. Then the DECK! A full size infinity pool, two lounge chairs and a hammock made this the perfect spot to relax, look for whales and watch the sunset. Now onto the food: every bite we had was outstanding! Every server was outstanding. We are especially grateful to Maria, Erik, Anna Suzuki, Sebastian, Jesus and Alexis for providing outstanding, polished service throughout our stay. An extra HUGE shoutout to Lolli who facilitated the most memorable private dining experience on the beach - truly one of the best nights of our lives. The spa was also exceptional. We experienced “spa under the stars” which is a private after hours couples experience. Leo, the spa and golf director, was friendly, warm and personable and made us feel so at home as he welcomed us to the spa. We also thought service was excellent from Fanny, and she made the experience run so smoothly for us. Our therapists were so talented: shoutout to Maria Felix and Amy! Finally, I must give a huge shoutout to Manuel Amescua. This stay was so much more special because of the time we spent with you, and all that you did to create memories for us that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. So grateful and cannot wait to come back to paradise!!!!!

The service was incredible, the room was delightful (although my boyfriend said they could've cut a tree down for a better view), the food was delectable. I was very worried about being confined to the property since I am used to resorts where you can go off of, but they had plenty of activities, restaurants, etc to make it feel not as confined. We had great room service from the food to the cleaning. Our airport transfer was well organized. I have zero complaints.

I don’t write too many reviews, but we just spent a week at Four Seasons Tamarindo and it warranted a write up as we hadn’t heard much about this new property and it is now one of our favorites! It is best for a warm, relaxing, luxury beach vacation – for couples or family. We love Mexico overall and now prefer the west coast without all of the unsightly seaweed issues between Cancun and Tulum on the east side. Tamarindo is an almost brand-new gorgeous property with stunning new rooms/views and great amenities. The plunge pools at the cliff rooms are spectacular. However, the biggest thing that made the week so special was the exceptional service. For a property that has only been open for about a year and a half, they have it dialed in nicely to the FS standard. If you like the One & Only Mandarina north of Punta Mita (another favorite), you will love this resort. Like Mandarina, the property is huge – the lone resort on a 3,000 acre reserve. Thus, the beaches are super private, and you feel a ‘world away from it all.’ And, like O&O, if you opt for the cliff rooms, you will often call for golf carts to take you around as the uphill walk can be more than you want after a day of relaxing by the pool. We found them to be even more responsive here, generally arriving in a few minutes after you call. The rooms are modern, sleek, and comfortable – most with plunge pools and some with outdoor showers. All of the architecture and design is beautiful and everything is new and clean. We opted for a cliffside villa – preferring a dramatic view and huge plunge pool – but people with whom we spoke raved about the rooms on the beach as well and the ability to walk right out to the ocean. You almost feel like you are in a movie when brushing your teeth and seeing the dramatic beach reflection in the mirror (with the rock formations coming out of the water)! The food across the three restaurants is quite good. We enjoyed the view at Sal (by the ocean), but preferred the menu and overall experience at Coyul (the only non-Mexico city outpost of Michelin Star Chef Elena Reygadas). The Coyul breakfast buffet is over-the-top – don’t miss the rosemary pastries… We did the Taco Tasting at the casual lunch place, Nacho, and Leo made the whole thing really fun. And, while we don’t usually order room service, the Tamarindo room service menu is extensive and dining on the patio for one dinner and one breakfast was special. Note: prices here were at least 35% to 40% less for drinks and dining than other luxury Mexico resorts, which was a pleasant surprise (and prices are still listed in pesos – not US $$s – unlike so many menus in Cabo and elsewhere). This resort offers more of a chill, relaxing vacation, but there was plenty to do: • Spa is new and nice – like most FS, not cheap but very professional and pampering. Great spaces to relax before and after treatments and you can use the spa even if not doing treatments, which I appreciate. They have a nice sauna, steam room, and hot tub. Note: no cold plunge, which I wish they had. • Gym is brand new, huge and has great windows. All the free weights and machines needed for most anybody. Also has big Pilates room and several great trainers (thanks Diego and Alexandra!). • Both of the main beaches were large, clean, and had great service – more watersports at Tamarindo beach (short golf cart ride over the hill) and more food offered at the beach by the rooms. Our dog loved running up and down the beaches, chasing the little sand crabs each morning. BTW, the hotel is extremely dog friendly and a great place to bring well-behaved furry companions (they even have a dog food menu at the restaurants!). • Golf: While we are not golfers, we did an e-biking tour one morning (recommend) and I can say that the golf course is gorgeous, carved into the jungle and with several holes that have epic views. • Pools: they have 3 main pools, including separate adult and family pools (and one with cabanas). All of them have great service and stunning views. Olga was great, regularly bringing waters, drinks, and snacks for both us and our dog. Again, however, what differentiates this resort from many of the other luxury resorts we have been to (other FS, O&O, Mandarin, Auberge, etc.) is the incredible service. They made us feel so welcome and special – engaging informally in the great FS style, while professionally attending to our every need. One time, housekeeping didn’t replace our bath robes and – when we called – brought them to the room in less than three minutes. Amazing. Also, the ‘no tipping’ policy across the resort was refreshing as you never had to bring cash or add tips to any bills (car service, tips for golf cart rides, boat tour, restaurants, pool service, etc.). I haven’t minded tipping at other places, but it is just another level of relaxing when you don’t even have to think even it. Sergio, who runs guest services/ activities is fantastic and helped us plan several great activities. Everyone at the front desk is super friendly and accommodating (Camila is a delight). The bellmen are all attentive. Angel, made our dog feel like a VIP each day. The only ‘minus’ for us is that getting to Manzanillo airport from much of the U.S. requires a connecting flight and some offered only on certain days of the week (vs. PVR which has more non-stop flights). However, the upside is that this resort is more private and feels more authentic once you arrive. MZO has only four gates and is super easy to navigate. I recommend the FS car service from the airport –seamless. You can also fly to PVR and FS will work with you to take a small, private flight to an airstrip very close to the property. We will likely try that in the future. In any event, a little longer travel day is well worth the fantastic experience once you arrive. I suspect this will become one of the 'flagship' resorts for FS over the next couple of years. We recommend FS Tamarindo strongly and look forwards to returning!

Wow. If you're interested in a resort that is first class, all the way, 24 hours per day, this place would be tough to beat. As you'd expect from a Four Seasons, the service was fantastic--helpful, attentive, anticipating your needs, remembering your name, remembering your coffee order, etc. Their level of service makes me want a butler at home! It opened in 2022 so everything about it is new and very modern, but with a classic look. Rooms are big, with private decks overlooking the ocean. Huge bathrooms with amazing showers. The bed and pillows might be the most luxurious I've ever slept on. The spaciousness of the property means things are pretty quiet, and you never feel crowded, and the lounge chairs at the pools are easily available. There are only two restaurant options for dinner but both are absolutely fabulous and have lengthy-enough menus that ensure you'll have plenty of variety if you want it. There's also a lunch-only restaurant. There are family-friendly and adults-only pools. The spa is huge, and most stuff there is no charge (jacuzzi, steam room, sauna), with massages requiring advance booking and a fee. Activities: lots of free/included things to do on a daily schedule, such as a wine tasting on a Thursday evening, or a guacamole class at noon on Saturday. But, importantly, you can grab water sports equipment whenever you'd like and do some kayaking or snorkeling (which is actually quite good, right off Tamarindo beach. There are also plenty of other activities that require booking and carry an extra cost. The golf course on property is really good (and this is coming from a HUGE golf snob.) Location: it's almost a full hour by car from the Manzanillo (ZLO) airport, and don't expect to be able to venture out to the surrounding area, because it is a 15-minute drive through the jungle just to get to the entrance gate of the resort property. But not to worry--you won't want to leave! Don't hesitate booking this property. You will not be disappointed. It would be literally impossible to experience disappointment!

A year ago we had never been to a Four Seasons hotel. We came to Mexico to visit friends, and in searching nearby hotel options we came across Four Seasons Tamarindo. We weren’t accustomed to going so high end on our vacations. We love good food and luxury but are also fine with a tent on the beach occasionally. However, the location was perfect so we decided to check it out. Well, this place literally changed our lives. We drank ALL the Four Seasons kool-aid and have since booked stays in Jackson Hole (twice) and Kuala Lumpur. This week we arrived at Tamarindo for our second visit. Over the last year we have visited 7 countries and participated in activities ranging from shopping in Paris to heli-skiing in Canada, rainforest trekking in Borneo and surfing in Bali - Tamarindo remains near the top of our list of the best places to visit in the world. Let me tell you why. Seclusion. This is not an easy place to get to. We have found that anyplace requiring a bit of extra effort to get to ends up being quieter than more convenient locations. Last year the resort was brand new so we weren’t convinced that the calm would last, but this visit was just as serene. Playa Tamarindo was a bit more busy, but the other two beaches were empty. The property is so big that we got a bit lost on the winding roads and ended up walking 6 miles out to a beach and back. No worries though - when we got back to our room the bottle of Clase Azul had been replenished and all was fine. Quiet. We stayed in a cliff side room the first visit, and this time were upgraded to a larger room above the beach. Both were stunning - truly the kind of room you never want to leave. We had breakfast delivered every morning to enjoy with the incredible view, then spent time lounging and swimming in the impressive infinity pool - big enough to swim some laps in. Like all Four Seasons rooms, the furniture and beds are shockingly comfortable. Food. The restaurants and in-room dining are really knock-your-head-back amazing. Suckling pig and truffled plantains are 2 of the best dishes I’ve tried. Leo can suggest a delicious sauce pairing for the plantains. The whole fish was perfectly prepared. You can even try some dishes with insects if you’re adventurous. The authenticity of the Mexican cuisine combined with knowledgeable servers to explain the history and intention of each dish is a great experience. The desserts were interesting and decadent. When I didn’t recognize some of the ingredients, I asked the server to bring us her favorite. It was a fun way to discover something new that I never would have chosen for myself. Raul provided such a nice tequila tasting for us - it can end up pretty spendy if you aren’t careful but the opportunity to try a range of different tequilas just a few hours drive from where they are produced is special. And having Lola the dog roam through the bar looking for pets contributes to the chill vibe of the place. Activities. If golf and tennis are your thing, you’re set. The facilities are beautiful - and completely empty. We never saw a single golfer on the miles of green. As our interest is more on ocean activities, we found our options a bit limited. The ocean bikes are unique but awkward to ride and there’s a limited area where you can kayak/paddleboard without a guide. The ocean is pretty wild at this location so I’m sure safety is a concern but very few people even swim. It’s more of a beach-sitting crowd. Tamarindo is still spanking new but there are very few kinks to work out. The place is only going to get more busy as people discover how special it is. Get there before they do.

This hotel is beyond words. From the moment you set foot until departure the team went above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing. We took advantage of the private plane from Puerto Vallarta. A rep from the airline was waiting at the airport. The pilot was friendly and got us safely to Chamela and a driver and guest experience agent were waiting for our 50 min drive to the hotel. The journey was long for us but totally worth it. It is something you have to consider if you’re going this route. It’s doable but for some may not be. From the moment you land in Chamela they take care of you. The views are immaculate, the room clean, wonderfully decorated and staff is welcoming, friendly, and ready to assist with any and all requests. We took advantage of the private sunset boat, water bike, paddle boards, romantic dinner, golf, spa, and picnic and did it all. As others say, it is a hotel you won’t want to leave and will not need to leave. We typically like to explore when on vacation but here there is more than enough to do. The weekly complementary activities are a must do and curated to meet everyone’s wants and desires. This hotel has thought of it all! I would totally recommend the romantic dinner at hole 9 it was espectacular and food was delicious. Thank you to chef and Emiliano for making this by far a memorable dinner. Special shoutout to the staff: Fatima, Paco, Juan de Dios, Allan, Joshua, and truly everyone was fantastic.

Absolutely stunning architecture, incredible suites, fantastic food and service, gorgeous scenery, and top notch golf. We stayed there for 6 days last year and can’t recommend it enough! We were a little hesitant at first since the hotel is out by itself (and not a quick flight for us), but the property is huge and there is so much to experience. This isn’t a normal luxury hotel…you won’t feel “stuck there”. You won’t want to leave. Pros: - The Cliffside Oceanview Suites are incredible with a huge, infinity “plunge pool” that runs the length of the suite (the water reflects a warm glow and has tall privacy walls). The bathrooms are open and airy with floor to ceiling windows, an in-ground bath tub (won’t block the view), outdoor shower, and heavenly beds…all with a breathtaking ocean view. - The hotel is indescribably beautiful from the lobby to the restaurants and the infinity pools. Pictures don’t do it justice. - The pools are large and finished to feel like you’re swimming in the ocean. Plenty of lounge chairs too. - Food was fantastic at all of the restaurants with a nice variety of food - Golf course is fantastic. I don’t play, but I met my husband one day just to see it. Con: - Only one swimmable beach, and it isn’t right in front of the hotel. It’s nice and sandy with great amenities. Safe for kids. Just know it isn’t the big beach in front of the hotel in the pictures. It’s a few minutes away by golf cart. - Several of the cliffside suites need a golf cart to get to/from, but we didn’t have to wait long for one. The trade off for the room was worth it.

This property is breathtakingly stunning. It was architecturally designed to blend into the landscape. Every corner you turn on the property was a moment of beauty. We first had four nights in a suite up top with magnificent views of the ocean, the horizon, some trees and ocean rock formations, in which you can watch the sun sink into the ocean every evening from you large infinity dipping pool or sunken bath tub inside. You can relax on your outdoor hammock or relax on the lounge beds on the deck. It was one of the more profoundly beautiful travel experiences we have ever had. We then had four nights in a beach front suite which was smaller in size both inside and outside, but nonetheless captures the modern beach chic vibe. We also enjoyed this suite as we love the beach. You feel closer to and more connected with the ocean and the beach in this venue. The views are less expansive in scope but nonetheless beautiful. The farm at the hotel was no longer open to the hotel guests, though the hotel tried to provide a flavour of the farm with a small fair like set up. It’s unfortunate as the farm experience would have been so interesting. The food at the various two restaurant options were decent, with room to improve for a property of this calibre and price point. Beware that local fare can include insects, such as grasshopper salt for your margarita, or ants in your butter for your steak. Locals find it to be a delicacy. I found it quite challenging. Room service food was good. The staff were all very nice. However, at this extraordinary price point, expectations are high and probably difficult to achieve in light of the training required of locals from the region. It appears management is aware of this issue and are trying to reach those levels, eventually. For me, the genuine, kind and somewhat unsophisticated approach by the staff lent some authenticity to the property, which is located in the midst of a 100 acre nature reserve near Manzinillo. For those desiring an isolated property - this one is for you. It is not close to anything and you will need to hire a car to go sightseeing at nearby towns. We hired a boat with crew one day to go whale watching. We had some amazing encounters and it was a highlight of the trip. Highly recommend! We had a good couples massage (perhaps not great) in a well appointed spa. I booked a wash and blow dry for the New Year’s Eve party which did not go well at all. Overall we had an incredibly relaxing 8 nights at a visually stunning property. We wanted to chill at a luxurious venue and we did just that. That itself was worth the experience and cost. I hope to see improvements on all other fronts and look forward to returning one day.
