We stayed 3 nights on our honeymoon in June. We really loved our time and it truly felt like a paradise, but we did write some feedback below as we felt the room and dinner offering were a little disappointing for the price point. Some positives: The hotel and grounds are stunning and ideal for a honeymoon. Our room (duplex) was nice and we really enjoyed the warm check in process. Staff were very professional and approachable, clearly working very hard to maintain the standard and ambiance of the hotel which we could feel! The manager who welcomed us was fantastic (so sorry we forgot his name). We loved the breakfast menu and the ladies serving the food were very friendly. The cocktails overall were delicious, especially at Jati bar. We did really like the food at the Nusuntra buffet night, and Chef Wayan is lovely. The pool & spa was fantastic (perhaps an option for a little light at night would be good for an evening jacuzzi?) Some negatives: For the price though, we do feel the rooms need a refresh as they were very outdated and wear and tear was starting to show, particularly in the shower, which refused to drain each time for some time so we had to keep putting towels down. We don’t think the room was worth the price compared to Padma Ubud and Oberoi Lombok. Dinner surprisingly left something to be desired as there were very limited food options available at both the pool cafe and the restaurant, and we really feel this needs to be improved on. In room dining was delicious but honestly very slow which was a bit disappointing. We do feel that staff at the Riverside Pool were sometimes quite stretched and took a while to bring things out. Activities: We did the picnic lunch experience and we loved this so much. Ari and Chef Ung were so amazing and such professionals- we were really impressed and the food was very delicious. We would like to pass our particular thanks to Ari, who is such a lovely person and we enjoyed talking to him. He also went back to the hotel to get mosquito repellant during the experience. Honeymoon specific: We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne and a cake in our room, lowers in the bath & a little presentation on the bed - thanks to the team and to Ari as well for a warm welcome in the room. The FS team cleaned my wife's wedding shoes after a photoshoot (complimentary) which was also nice. Overall: We loved the ambiance in the main areas, and how quiet the whole hotel was, it felt like a true paradise. Thank you to the excellent staff! We would definitely love to return if there were more dinner options and the rooms a bit refreshed.

My wife and I absolutely loved our FS Sayan experience. Every staff member that we encountered during our stay treated us like royalty. We felt tremendously special everyday. Robby at the pool provided excellent service with a smile. We experienced our very first Yoga class and it was led by a dedicated and passionate instructor named Chocolako. What an awesome experience. The absolute highlight of our stay was the private Balinese Cooking Class with Sous Chef Ong, Server Sankan and Steward Ari down by the river. They went all out as far as set up, fresh ingredients, multiple cooking stations and ambiance. Sous Chef Ong was very patient with us and he is very personable. The food that he prepared (with our assistance) was absolutely delicious and plentiful. This is a must do experience. We want to say thank you to the entire staff from top to bottom…. We shall return ASAP!

Dated Four Seasons in a stunning location
This is a somewhat dated Four Seasons, but the location is stunning and so are the villas. Restaurant food left a lot to be desired. The gym was OK, while the spa was up to Four Season standards. We took the river boat tour, it was fantastic. Overall heavily recommended...

We took the river boat tour, it was fantastic. Overall heavily recommended for the villas, but I would guess there are better hotels in the area. Stay there, but make the stay short.

Paradise. It’s a perfect location to experience the jungle vibes of Ubud. All areas of the hotel look onto beautifully lush & tropical vegetation; the greenery and fresh smells create a deeply peaceful ambiance that’s truly unique. A pretty wide river runs between the hotel and the ‘jungle’, and you can hear the water travel downstream - stunning. We didn’t do the river rafting activity down the river, but wish we had. I can only imagine how beautiful it must be. Service was phenomenal, as was the food. We especially loved the pork ribs at the Riverside Restaurant. Room service was also excellent. Unfortunately we couldn’t try the Chefs Table experience that came highly recommended as it was only on specific nights that did not overlap with our stay. We stayed two nights but we’d recommend more - there is a lot to do that we wished we had the time for!! A must stay in Ubud!

I stayed at this resort for four nights with my partner to celebrate my birthday during a two week trip through Asia, and it was hands down one of the best, if not the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The grounds and room design are impeccable, and feel so unique and architectural. But the thing that really takes this experience to the next level is the service. My partner, unfortunately, had come down with a bad case of food poisoning right before we arrived (from our previous stop on the trip), and the hotel went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of, and helped us still enjoy our trip while one of us was recuperating. First, the rooms - we stayed in a Riverfront Villa. We are SO glad we did. It was a splurge, but the location, the privacy, the grounds were once-in-a-lifetime. All of the villas have incredible privacy, and are incorporated into the landscape of the hotel in the gorgeous, lush valley; but the Riverfront Villa was something special. The indoor / outdoor living concept was awesome, and the outdoor living space felt so lovely and comfortable, and we definitely used the plunge pool every day! And, the architecture of villa was completely unique, where you walk down from the road, into a modern villa built into the hill - just spectacular. And of course, the Four Seasons bedding is the best sleep ever, like sleeping in a cloud. The resort itself is stunning. It's built around the "rice bowl" multi-level main building - it looks like a spaceship that landed in the jungle - you just want to keep taking photos of it, or from inside of it. Each level gives you a magnificent view of the lush jungle around you, through the treetops. Whether we were eating breakfast on the terrace (the breakfast was delicious, and expansive, by the way); or having a drink at the bar, or walking over the bridge to the insanely scenic lotus pond on the roof - it feels truly magical, and you just want to hold onto the views, and the feeling of being there forever. One thing to note, there are a lot of stairs - but the front desk has carts that will take you up and down or to and from your room. But the thing that really made our stay special, was the staff and service. Every person we interacted made us feel like valued guests and VIPs. Like I mentioned at the beginning of the review, my partner was dealing with a case of food poisoning when we arrived, and the hotel was quick to help us organize an English-speaking doctor, they consistently asked us about his recovery, and even left flowers in the room with a get well note. They helped us rearrange our plans to accommodate his recovery, and it helped us enjoy our trip despite the unexpected inconvenience. Two special memories that I'd love to share for other readers, as a window into what makes this resort feel special and unique: - The resort offers complimentary traditional Balinese dance performances multiple times a week, and I was able to see two - they were spectacular, and the setting felt so special, with a very small audience, being able to sit up close, see the dancers and musicians - all while enjoying a cocktail and snack - it was beyond cool - On our last day, we decided to have a snack and drink at the terrace bar before catching our car to the airport. I had fallen in love with one of the cocktails on the menu, and had ordered it every night. I ordered it one last time before departure and told the bartender, Dodi, how much I enjoyed it, and we asked him if he could write down the recipe for us, since we enjoy making cocktails at home. Not only did he write down the recipe - but as we were the only people at the bar at the time, he asked us if we wanted to try making one! So, he gave us an impromptu lesson on how to make my favorite cocktail - it was a perfect way to end our trip, and a special memory we'll keep forever. All in all, I couldn't recommend this resort enough, it's truly something special!

My husband and I stayed one night at the Four Seasons Sayan to celebrate our anniversary. This was the biggest splurge of our trip and while we had a nice time, there were a few significant issues; overall, we felt it was not worth the price. Pros: The property and its surroundings are spectacular; it literally takes your breath away when you arrive. The staff is incredibly warm and gracious. The afternoon tea was lovely. The Balinese dance performance hosted by the hotel, which occurred on the night we were staying, was amazing. The hotel had left a delicious cake and champagne in our room for our anniversary, which was so thoughtful. Cons: We stayed in the standard room (one bedroom duplex suite), which was a bit dark and outdated. When we arrived back at our hotel after dinner and opened the champagne, we saw a small lizard; we waited for maintenance to come and remove it. A little while later, the shower drain malfunctioned and the shower started overflowing, flooding the entire bathroom with water. I had to leave with shampoo still in my hair and my husband spread towels all over the bathroom floor to make sure nothing was damaged. After about an hour, it was resolved and our room was back to normal. The hotel offered to move us to a different room at that point, but it was late, and we were tired and had already unpacked everything. They comped us a meal, which was nice – but overall, this was not a great vacation experience nor what we expected for this ($1,000+) price point. We also felt the food was not as good as it was at other hotels on our stay (The Ungasan Clifftop Resort and Alila Seminyak), and there were some hiccups (e.g., the Mediterranean restaurant was out of hummus; when we asked if they had chai, they said it would take 40 minutes to prepare). In sum, we had a nice time, and appreciated the beautiful property and extremely kind and hospitable staff, but given the issues, we did not feel the overall experience was on par with other Four Seasons properties at which we've stayed. If we had to do it again, we would just come for the afternoon tea and pretty views.

I have been to some amazing resorts but this was the best I ever stayed at. The resort itself is beautiful and you just get a sense of calm there. Also the service was flawless and everyone we met in the staff were so friendly. Would especially like to mention Dewan that greeted us so happily several mornings at breakfast. A tip if you go is to visit one of these restaurants, The Sayan House or Sayan Point, they are both within walking distance just up the road, and from there you will get a very nice view of the resort. We stayed in villa 51 and it was really nice and roomy with a good size pool.

Four Seasons Sayan is a beautiful resort with very nice staff. The rooms were beautiful. We had some issues with this hotel because we had a package which included a massage, a dinner, afternoon tea and a cooking class and also a personal driver for a full day. So when we arrive we had already booked the driver beforehand and they hand us the itinerary. First of the cooking class was on the same day as the driver and they had no availability in other cooking classes during our stay so we had to skip it which sucked. Second of all they scheduled our massage at 10 in the morning on the day of our checkout which was not something we wanted. The only other availability was 7 PM the day before. So me and my husband spent a big time of our time there rearranging schedules, stressing out about where to fit the cooking class. In a hotel like this I would want the manager to talk to me personally but I literally had to say “I am extremely disappointed by all this” and then I got a text on WhatsApp offering us a free dinner at Jimbaran Bay because we were heading there next. I accepted it but personally think there should have been done a little more since this is more about the lost time rather than the money. But for me this is not a 5 star experience, I have stayed at plenty of 5 star hotels with absolutely no issue and perfect service when something is not going as planned. The one in Jimbaran is way way way better in my opinion, if you have to choose go to Jimbaran.

We enjoyed our stay. It is a smaller and older property, but the staff and service were excellent. The jungle river that flows directly adjacent to the hotel is a spectacular setting. The room was comfortable - furniture a little worn around the edges but generally well kept and perfectly OK for being in the jungle in Bali. A couple who was traveling with us had really strong fumes in their room (from construction happening nearby) but the staff immediately relocated them. The pool is small and closes early (around dinner time). The wifi signal was excellent in the room. Be aware there are no elevators here, just lots of stairs. Wasn’t a problem for us but if you mobility issues you could call a buggy, but the buggies can’t get to each level. I recommend doing the Chef’s Table dinner at Sokasi. A bit pricy but a fun experience. Also, tea time at the bar area was a highlight.
